The food was not as good as I remember. The fries were particularly bad, tasted burnt and not fresh but could have been from the oil. Ham sandwich was just okay and that too seemed likeitwasn't the tasty stuff I had previously had. It was a disposing lunch but I will try again before I cross it off my list when in Eagle River.

My husband & I are in this area for the weekend. Randomly picked the Honey Bear for dinner and glad we did! The wallye that they serve everyday was extremely excellent and big portions. The service was fast and friendly.

Wife and I are up this Labor day weekend for a local race and she booked us a campsite close by. She found this place and I sure am glad she did! We got there around 5 on a Friday. Place was packed. We put our names in and went to the bar. Had great conversations with almost everyone around us. The 1 ding on service was for the insane amount of time it took to get drinks. But being Labor day weekend, and having 1 bartender making countless old fashions, thats kind of understandable. Once seated, things went quickly. Food was perfect. I had the Walleye and my wife had the Cod. Prices were reasonable. We will definitely return! Thanks for a perfect Northwoods fish fry guys!!

I've been into honey bear quite a few times since moving here pre covid, and I've had such a pleasure meeting the bartender Lizzie and having great fun conversations. When I first came in, it was always packed and cramped and you almost felt rushed so the next person could get in to enjoy as well. After covid things kind of changed, but still the great place it was when first discovered. This girl really does make the bar atmosphere. She's funny, educated, quirky, and always has a smile no matter how busy or slow it is that day. Any drink she makes me(and trust me I've tested her), she doesn't fail, always mixed properly and absolutely delicious everytime. Which that's hard to find here. I find a lot of bartenders are over pouring, which destroys a good mixed drink. She is solely the reason I come back for a fish fry or a random drink. i cannot leave out Deb, because she's great at everything she does here and she's so spunky. Best 2 people in the front of house

We had a terrible experience on August 5th. The bartender had no idea how to make a margarita, we waited a very long time for our food, and I ordered a second drink and never got it, albeit i wasn't charged for it . They don't serve coleslaw with their fish fry anymore, and the French fries were cold. The fish itself was good. It seemed like a bunch of young kids were trying to operate the restaurant. Not good. It will be a long time before we try it again.

Waiter told us we could sit outside. Sat out there for 15 minutes no one ever brought a menu, asked us if we wanted a drink or even looked in our direction. We stopped for a fish fry on our way back from the UP. The Honey Bear was recommended highly by a family member who knows the owner. We tried the fish fry, and my opinion is... Outstanding! This is one of the best fish fries I have had in many years! Seriously, go there, you won't be disappointed! Overall was a bit disappointed. The service was SLOW. Took about an hour to get a waiter and the place wasn’t even busy. I ordered drinks from the bar as we waited so long. The Mac and cheese is Kraft… like who even eats that crap? The fish fry was rubbery. The fries were frozen most like mass produced with little to no’s flavor. In the back there is a nice play area but the lack of cleanliness of the restaurant is seen by the grease dripping out of the exhaust fans into an 14 inch pile of grease. They got 2 stars because they have outdoor games and it’s on the river. Also, drink selection was weak. This is just my honest opinion and really providing it to help them better service the world.

Had a great meal on a Monday night. Came back on Tuesday with a group of 4 at 6:05 and was told the grill was closed for the night with attitude from the bartender working. Had a bad experience for the first time in a long time. We did a take out order and were told pick up in 30 min. Chicken sandwich was not complete according to the menu and came cold, taco salad came with lettuce and a cup of ground beef. When I called, the person who answered the phone told me I was wrong about my order. We went back and forth he then said they would make it over. My husband took his lettuce taco back and they said he could keep it. He declined and expressed his disappointment. Hadn’t been there in years thought we would try it again! Mistake! Friday night, went there cause online they said they had a beef sandwich! Nope! Only fish and 4 piece chicken. Hate fish, got chicken. She brought out what looked like shrunken Cornish hens, couldn’t tell a breast from a thigh they were the same size, the legs were so small they were laughable! Food was dry and just not good. Server did bring me extra legs cause they were so small, which I appreciated, but due to the size they were dry as dust! My dogs appreciated them, which was all they were good for! $17.00 for chicken, Nope!

Went here for a fish fry while on vacation. Nice place, but it gets packed quickly and there isn't a lot of room inside.

The fish fry was good, but nothing spectacular. I wouldn't wait 45 minutes for a table like we had to. I feel you can get a fish fry that's just as good else where with little to no wait. The fish was cooked very well and the batter was crispy. The fries are nothing special and the coleslaw was good.

The con: when we got there at 445, there was a 45-60 minute wait. We wanted to eat here so we left and drove around for a bit. When we came back we had another 20-30 minutes (still in the original time window as we came back early so we wouldn't miss our spot). We then went outside to wait. Went back in 15 minutes later and we heard them say our party didn't show. Thankfully we were there and said, we were waiting out front. We ended up with a table in about five minutes. The bar area isn't big enough to hold everyone waiting for a table so people wait outside. Some were out back and some, like us, were out front. They didn't go out the front door to announce tables being ready which almost resulted with us losing our spot.

Overall this place is nice, but could use a better waiting list system for people who are outside waiting. We would not go back unless there was less of a wait. Food is good, but not for an hour wait. Would have given 3.5, but rounded up as it's a great little bar/restaurant.

We always eat here when we visit Eagle River. A very charming restaurant, the service is wonderful, and the food is outstanding (and a bargain). The Cheese Curds are an absolute must, they are probably some of the best I've had growing up in Wisconsin.

We were recommended to come here from our tour guide in Eagle River to eat here for lunch so that’s what why we stopped. Lots of items to choose from on the menu. I ordered the patty melt. I wish there were more fried onions on it but also my rye bread was over cooked, it was black on one side so biting into it, it was crunchy and scorched tasting in areas of the sandwich. I took the crusts off because it was too crunchy. The breaded deep fried green beans with sauce were sooooo good! Even my 20 month old enjoyed them! My husband enjoyed his sandwich with au jus.
Bathrooms were clean. Then women’s bathroom was decorated so cute with all the little bear or pine cone decor inside. If you’re thinking about coming, it was a great place to come for a sandwich/burger! We will have to remember this place when we’re back in the area

The fish fry consisted of three pieces of cod loin, about 6-8" long, and only about 1.25-1.5" thick, which meant the fish was nicely cooked. The potato salad was very tasty. When visiting Eagle River, Wisconsin annually for it's picturesque wintery snowy setting, we make sure to stop by the Honey Bear! 🍯 🐻. Great little restaurant with delicious food and a wonderful staff and atmosphere. Definitely go for the hot chocolate made fresh and on a cold winter's night it's perfect. Recommend The Honey Bear Chicken Sandwich its awesome! Local artists have northen themed items for sale definitely check them out. We bought a few bear themed Christmas ornaments and put them out every year.

Was at the honey bear not to long ago and price was 13.99. Went there for the great fish fry Friday April 8 and the price was 21.$ that to me is outrageous. As much as I love the atmosphere, fish fry, I will not be going back for that price. Sad!

The Honey Bear has always been a staple of our Northwoods fare. The cheese curds are some of the best I've ever had, the Bloody Mary's are an attraction by themselves, and the daily fish fry is amazing. The Baby Walleye is my favorite option. I will be honest, the $27 price took me off guard this last trip... apparently, prices have gone up. A meal that consisted of 2 bowls of soup, a burger with fries, 1 cod fish fry, 1 Baby Walleye fish fry, 5 soft drinks, and the delicious cheese curds came with a $113 price tag. Northwoods vibe with big city prices... Great people, great service, great food!

Honey Bear is exactly what I love about a Northwoods establishment: cozy, big portions, friendly waitstaff, and really great food! I was a little sticker shocked looking at the menu. Their Honey Bear Fish Fry was $21. That felt a bit steep to us for a fish fry, but when we got our order it was a big portion: 3 large pieces of beer battered cod that was nice and crispy, a side–get the potato salad, Hayden gave it an A, and rye bread. It was yummy and we both gave it a B+, but I don’t feel the need to go back for it due to the high price.

Very disappointed. I had a burger that was like a hockey puck. Dry and absolutely no flavor. Fries were soggy and gross and the price for what you get is just robbery

Maybe update your menu…a Reuben was NOT 12$, but 18$ and the bleu burger was NOT 12$ but 16$0. Our bill came out to 37$ fricken dollars. Everyone is struggling right now so maybe be honest about your prices reflecting correctly on your menu.
