Diner Pie shop Restaurant

Description

Honeypie was opened in 2009 and from the very beginning our goal has been to make great, Midwestern-inspired food from scratch. From our pickles to our pie crust we believe that good food is rooted in the way our grandparents used to cook. Real food made by hand with real ingredients. We use as many local meats, produce and other ingredients as we can. In fact, the majority of our ingredients at Honeypie are sourced from Wisconsin.

The ambiance of this place is so nice. Like a little hideaway restaurant. The staff were great. I ordered a French dip but in my personal opinion it kind of tasted like a pulled pork. My mom got breakfast. She absolutely loves there potatoes. They were crispy and just delicious

It is a cute place for brunch, but the wait times are absolutely ridiculous. We were told 25-30 minute estimate, we went to our car and returned literally 10 minutes later, and they tried to say the 25-30 minute is estimate and they gave our table away already. 10 minutes is not accurate for saying 25 minute wait. Please learn to give better estimates, that are honest. Then once seated, we waited over 30 minutes for our coffee and an hour for our food. It was not even that busy at this time, other tables were getting served. Food was decent

Cant rate well as only did carryout pie and a cookie after deciding against a full bfast before hitting the road. $9 for one small pie slice??? $6 (I think, receipt wasnt itemized) for a cookie?? Its large but if I didnt know it was toffee, I wouldnt know it was toffee. Cute place, friendly staff but absurd prices (at least on what I got)

Good service and atmosphere but the pies(the salted caramel and the salted honey) were too sweet for us, we couldn’t eat them. Also they are expensive, $10 per pie slice.

Everyone here is so friendly! And in a genuine way, not a forced customer service way. The food is incredible. I love the ham croissant at brunch. Every pie I've had from here has been delightful, especially the black bottom banana that I had most recently.

It's nice to have Honeypie in the neighborhood. There prices are a bit higher but that doesn't seem to diswade people from coming especially on the weekends. For me, it would be nice to just have some simple options for food say like a regular burger or for breakfast eggs, hash browns, and some bacon. The little patio in the back is so quaint. Overall HoneyPie is a good option for diner food & pie.

Was disappointed with the pies that we got. Plus it’s $20 for 2 slices of pie!!!This was always our go-to spot when we lived in Bayview, but it tasted like the ingredients they are using now were sub-par. The take out service and atmosphere were lovely though.

I'm currently sitting at Honeypies waiting for my food and wishing I had gone somewhere else. We ordered our food at noon and it's currently 1:22. Our waitress has only stopped at the table when flagged down. Every single server here has a scowl on there face to the point that it must be in their employee handbook. Truly regret coming here and will not be coming back.

My wife Therese and I just had a wonderful breakfast at Honeypie Cafe. The service that we received from Kelley and Wren was really the best, friendly, professional and first rate. The menu was full of so many good choices. Our meals were cooked to perfection. The whole staff did a great job. We eat out a lot and it’s not often that you find a place that’s clean, with delicious food and a very good staff that makes you want to come back.

I went here yesterday for the first time with my two sons. My youngest has peanut/tree nut allergy and asked if there were any nuts in the food he wanted to order and was told no. He ordered the biscuits and gravy and the house made granola with yogurt and berries. We also had the cheese curds. We wound up going to the emergency room right from the restaurant. He had a severe allergic reaction to something and his throat closed up.I am not one to usually complain and write a bad review but just don't want this to happen to someone else.I wish the possible food allergies would be listed on the menu. The food and service was great just minus a star for the bad experience my son had.

My first time visiting Honey Pie, in over 5 years. The atmosphere is soothing and inviting, almost like visiting a friend back in the day. I had the Bourbon Hound, which was a great pick. We ordered the Fried Cheese Curds - and wow, they are so fresh & squeaky! Mmmm...
My Reuben & Truffle Fries were not great, for me. The Corned Beef was somewhat chewy. That's not good. I liked the rye bread and sauce, but this was a big miss for me for a Reuben. The truffle fries have good flavor, but seemed a bit over-salted. My wife had the Club Sandwich and fries and said slightly over salted a bit too, but still pretty good. My two sons had two sandwiches and both were good, so maybe skip the Reuben and you'll all be happy. Or maybe this, just not the Reuben's best showing.
Nice place, good service, worth the visit.

Went for brunch on a Friday morning around 10am & it was easy to get a table. Server was very friendly and managed to came over to check how everything was and he was excited & happy. Food was tasty - I had the breakfast casserole which our server suggested. It was a lot of food so took half home and was good the next day too. My friend enjoyed the breakfast hash and we shared a slice of hazelnut chocolate pie which was delicious. We dug into that too quickly so I didn’t snap a pic. Would definitely come back!

Stopped on my trek to catch the ferry. I was on foot, so I ordered to go. I was greeted by the friendly staff and managed to walk in, order, and out all in 15 minutes! Even more impressive, accomplished during lunchtime rush on Saturday 😀 Turkey Club is deliciously flavorful and a side ceaser salad. The dressing: simply wonderful! All topped off with a refreshing cherry limeade 🍒 I 100% recommend top of the list for lunchtime!

It looks like a neighborhood hole in the wall, but Honeypie Cafe on KK in Bay View is now two full spaces with quick seating and a tasty menu. Service was on point. Delicious Eggs Benedict & roasted potatoes. I left with a slice of Key Lime pie. I was happy I did. So good. I'm not in love with the interiors, but it just feels a bit empty. Not my stomach. Consistently good. 👍 I'll be back.

Everything is pretty bland here, food and service. The server was absent most of the time and when we did interact, there was no personality, no tone, just complete boredom and minimal interest. For the price I'm paying, I expect a bit more from both the food and the staff. I got biscuits and gravy...I would have paid maximum $10 if I had seen the dish beforehand. At $17, I expected a larger portion and tasty food...It was a tiny amount of food and it tasted like unseasoned gravy from a can. The biscuits seemed like the butter biscuits you'd buy from the freezer section. The eggs were extremely dry and tasteless. The coffee was the best part of the meal. But even then, at about $25 for just me, I would happily go to a smaller, less hipster diner and pay 15 for the same, if not more food and friendly service.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Brunch Perfection in Bay View

Amazing brunch spot with incredible food and even better vibes. Kelly, the bartender, is an absolute gem—friendly, welcoming, and made the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had. It was Father’s Day brunch and both bartenders seemed busy but kept such an amazing composure. Kelly took our order and took time to take care of us with her hospitality. Don’t miss this place—and definitely sit at the bar during brunch!

This place used to be amazing, but now they're a mixed bag for us. We always go with a sense of unproven optimism, but never know if it'll live up that time. The drinks are weak, but not necessarily bad. The food is always a gamble, and the pies are 50/50.

Nothing is ever actively bad, just not all that great. Sometimes they'll live up to their description, others it'll just be bland. Every so often something will be amazing, but for the most part it just tastes... mid.

The pies actual taste mass produced, which I'd have a hard time believing, but wouldn't be surprised if I found out. They got rid of their graham cracker crust pies, and evidently that's what was giving them most of their flavor

Their cookies are great though - that's what we usually end up leaving with now

Honeypie made the pies for my wedding several years ago (please bring back the almond joy pie!!) but I hadn't been to the restaurant in a long time. They've remodeled since the last time I'd been and had totally changed their menu, and both were great changes! We had the pork belly Benedict, breakfast burrito, and chilaquiles at our table and all were awesome. I also had a good mocktail. We ordered pies to go and I can say they're also good the next day. The black bottom banana was excellent, and the key lime is solid. I would recommend a visit to anyone in the area.

We ordered the biscuits n gravy with scrambled eggs, tofu scramble, and fries. Great service and vibes. Orders came out quick and fresh. The biscuits n gravy were not quite what I would expect as a “southerner” but different doesn’t mean bad. It was surprisingly spicy with what I think was a curry flavor. And the biscuit was more like a scone with a crispy exterior and spongey on the inside (great for soaking up the gravy). I would order that again. The tofu scramble was just okay. Fries were awesome too. If I was going to come back, I’d give the French toast a try.

I stopped by this place because I was in Bayview and wanted to try some place new. A lot of places in the area didn't open until evening and this place was open for lunch.

Wow! It was so good!

I was seated immediately right about noon. I almost wish they had made me wait a little longer so I could admire the beautiful hand made pies and desserts. (Which I did on my way out, as well!)

My server was very friendly and attentive to my every need.

I had the Pot Roast Hash and it was so much food, particularly with a generous portion of pot roast. I also appreciated that the potatoes were clearly made from fresh potatoes, possibly some fingerlings? It wasn't just your standard diner diced potatoes. Additionally I had some cornbread with salted butter and house made jam which was very good.

After eating all of that, I really didn't need dessert, but I mean after seeing all those pies, how could I resist?

I had their pie of the month which was a HoneyNut Cheesecake. The flavor of the cheesecake was very good and well balanced. The real highlight was the graham cracker crust. You could taste the real butter used in making it with just the right amount of salt to really elevate it. And I make craft cheesecakes, so my expectations are pretty high.

I don't get out to Bayview to often, but I will definitely be back to try more of the menu!

Honeypie Cafe in Bay View is a place I always return to. The food is consistently well-prepared, and the environment is calm and welcoming. If you enjoy burgers, pies, or simply a clean and comfortable place to eat, it’s a reliable choice.

The menu is strong from start to finish. I’ve tried a variety of items over time and haven’t been disappointed. Whether you’re in for a quick meal or a more relaxed dinner, the quality holds up.

The interior is tidy and thoughtfully laid out, making it a good place to meet with others or eat alone. There’s also outdoor seating available during warmer months, which is a nice option—just something to note: the patio isn’t pet friendly.

The neighborhood is easy to walk around before or after your meal.

Honeypie remains one of my top choices for a consistently good dining experience.

As a longtime Milwaukeean, I've eaten at Honeypie many times over the years and have always loved it. I'm not usually a review-writer, but I felt compelled to compliment the entire staff on the meal and service I received last night. The moment my friend and I walked in, we received a warm welcome from the general manager who seated us at our table. Our server was super lovely. The cocktail special (Bittersweet Spritz, I believe it was called?) was delightful. The Salmon Nicoise salad was absolutely delicious. And on the way out, every staff member we passed smiled and wished us a good night. It wasn't overbearing or fake, everyone was genuinely kind and made the experience worthwhile. Thanks, y'all!

I'm glad we went here for Sunday brunch. Great food - the biscuits were very solid, and I was almost licking the plate clean. I regret that we ordered so much, because we didn't have room to indulge on pie.

We got there 15 minutes before open and were the third group in line.

The service was slightly slow, but that's probably because it was Mother's Day and they were prioritizing the tables with little ones. And we weren't in a rush, so no problem.

What a wonderful gem in Bayview! My first time here and I'll definitely be back. From the ever-pleasant Jalen who greeted and seated us to the kind, attentive Grace who waited on us, and even the manager who stopped by our table to say a quick hello, the staff here seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs and working with each other. The only thing going for this place is its atmosphere and Rishi Tea. Had a slice of pie, made me incredibly sick. Food was also WAY over-salted. And then there’s the service… I walked in expecting a warm and welcoming environment, that’s what it looked like it would be from the outside- service was terrible. The guy who took my order and served me, Rick- I think his name was, something with an R… Couldn’t have cared less about his customer, tone was just weird. I chalked it up to him maybe just having a bad day but then he was basically rushing me out of my seat. There’s attentive and then there’s pushy. Tried multiple times to clear a plate that I was literally still eating… just seemed impatient. I think that guy needs to realize less is more, stop overdoing it. Never spending my money here again and I’ll make sure my friends know to avoid this place- just in case that guys working and whoever trained him… yikes.

*ASK FOR PRICES BEFORE YOU PAY. SEVERELY OVERPRICED*

We walked in, acknowledged and greeted immediately. We just wanted to dine in and eat something sweet. We ordered 2 pies. I clearly stated that we wanted both pieces with whipped cream. Waitress asked if I wanted my cherry pie warmed up (big mistake). We sat down at the counter. It's almost as if they had forgotten us because it took them 15 mins to bring out pie #1. That was for my wife. I was still waiting. I mean, how long does it take to warm up ONE PIE? We'll, my wife was almost finishing her pie, when I heard the *ding* and someone asked "whose pie is this?". One different girl brought it to me and of course it had no whipped cream. She walked back and brought back the whipped cream. We finished and were sitting there while the girl was organizing glasses etc... RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. We were invisible to her. Another girl had to come over for us to pay and get the hell outta dodge. All in all: $20 for 2 not so large pieces of pie. Place is obviously hyped by friends or something because these prices are ridiculous.

Excellent place to grab breakfast/lunch, that is if the servers ever come around. Been here multiple times over the years and the food never disappoints. However, there’s been times where I’ve been seated and a server doesn’t show up until 10-15 minutes later (if at all, left twice because no one approached the table past getting water.) in an empty restaurant, and I’m talking at like 1-2 pm during the week, not peak hours. I understand the service industry very well, and it’s unfortunate for how good their product is, that’s it’s so deterred because of their poor service.

This was my first time here, as a visitor in the area. The sandwich I ordered was very good and I was easily able to swap French fries for a healthier option. I picked up a whole pie to drive back home and I was very unhappy with it. The “pie of the month” was actually a no bake cheesecake and not tasty at all, and at $53 for the 8 pieces I do not recommend purchasing.

New menu is a big disappointment if you are vegetarian. The waitress says to me oh we get lots of vegetarians...but essentially all you will have is French toast (so healthy!) or eggs and potatoes. Isn't that original! Because you know, vegetarians don't eat like real food. No need to actually create a dish! Just what you wanted to come spend $25 on by the end of coffee etc. The "named" dishes had the meat as integral and not removable. There is one limited side for breakfast and one side for lunch. That's it. I absolutely wished I'd have known before we sat down. Was looking forward to huevos rancheros or something. We got seated so fast because we were pretty early, and I hadn't been here in about a year. By the time I looked at the menu we had coffee already. It was a shock. Maybe they changed owners or something. The scrambled eggs were terrible and as if from a carton. The salted eye bread was homemade and very good and the potatoes were decent with the house hot sauce on them otherwise they are basic boring roasted potatoes. Complete disappointment and not going back.

I hope it was a one off, but we had a really disappointing experience :(

We were sat at the bar counter & felt totally forgotten the whole time we were there. After our waiter took our order he never asked us for drinks or offered water - we had to ask minutes later. When our food came out, my order was wrong and the waiter never came back once to check on how things were. I had to ask for him to bring me a fork & napkin. We also had to ask someone other than our waiter for refills on water and our check because again, our waiter never checked in on us. When I asked other waiters for help throughout our experience, I couldnt help but get the sense they were annoyed. The food was okay, except my burger was leaking on the plate so much that half my fries were soggy.

Hoping others have a better experience with service :/

Decided to splurge on some comfort food after a particularly awful week. After a snow, there was not one clean spot to step up the curb. The French Dip sandwich was delicious, fries were over-salted and a huge portion. Server was attentive at the beginning of my meal and then forgot I existed when I was done eating. Eventually I ordered chocolate hazelnut pie to go thinking I'd have a nice treat with coffee later. It was a HUGE disappointment. It tasted mildly chocolate, not at all hazelnut and was I don't know how many days old...the whipped cream was rubbery and the "cream pie" was stretchy...the consistency somewhere between nougat and a circus peanut. For $9+tx I expected a fresh piece of pie. I'll have to think long and hard before returning here again and doubt I'll order pie.

This is the best restaurant experience. Overall I have had in a long time. All of the staff, from management to employees, Were unfailingly Positive and responsive. Competence with personality. Food amazing. Apparently, this is the favorite place for the person who introduced me to it over the weekend. I live in Madison, but will not fail to drop in when I visit Milwaukee again!

My favorite brunch spot on Bayview. The pies will make your mouth water and the breakfast isn't far behind. But the thing that stands out is the cheerfulness and professionalism of the staff. The environment is warm and friendly and cozy and inevitably full of happy people. Side note that it is also woman-owned.

I really enjoy the food here. Well executed comfort food. Probably the best Mac n cheese I've ever had also. Great pie, but they can run out, which happens. Waits are usually reasonable. Service is good, people are friendly. I really like this place.

My husband and I were in on 1/24/25 and had the pleasure of having Sophie D. as our waitress. Sophie was amazing! Any questions about the menu she answered and explained the difference between two of the pies I was interested in ordering for dessert! Wonderful food and wonderful service from Sophie! Can’t wait to come back again!

Oh my gosh! Best food I've had at a restaurant in years. And very generous portions. Stopped in on a Sunday early afternoon, and by luck timed it just right for not too long of a wait. They were busy and getting busier and now I know why. Honey Pie is worth the wait to be seated!

Hubby and I went yesterday for lunch. Our waiter was excellent. Hubby had the pot pie of the day with a side salad, and loved every bite. I had the chicken pesto salad sandwich with fries. The fries were so good, but overly salted. The sandwich was a generous serving (could only eat half of it), and it was delicious!! The problem was that it left such a strong garlic aftertaste, I can still sense a hint of it the next morning (as I write this). I love salty foods and garlic, but both were too heavy-handed. Hoping it was a “one-off,” as I’d love to order this meal again.

Ok. Been trying to get to this restaurant for ages. Chloe our server was awesome! The food-not so much. The breakfast casserole was recommended so I ordered it. The crumbled biscuit on the bottom was dry, topped with oven roasted skin on potato chunks topped again with undercooked spicy sausage gravy was awful! Why did 3 small cornbread muffins cost $8.50 (1 muffin is $4.50). $61.00 breakfast for 2 was ridiculous! Very small breakfast offerings. Bacon was good though!

This used to be my go to stop in Milwaukee for pie. The pie prices keep going up and the serving sizes keep getting smaller. My last stop in, I paid around $10 for a piece of pie (Chocolate silk) and the whole thing was whipped cream and two bites of chocolate. They used to have a graham cracker crust chocolate pie that was decadent and huge! This is no longer the case sadly. The pie is inconsistently sliced and not measured, sometimes it is upside down in its container and the portion sizes (filling) inside the pie have shrunken considerable. Very sad and I wont be making the stop any longer.

Bacon is really hard (not crispy hard) and would avoid at all costs. Biscuits and gravy has pretty good flavor and creamy. The potatoes could use a little more seasoning but are alright. Hot sauce is not included

I went for breakfast with my mom, and overall we really enjoyed it! The pot roast hash was very good! I recommend that. My mom got a burger and truffle fries, which she seemed to enjoy. The pies were good (slice of cherry and slice of key lime). The coffee left a bad taste in our mouths. It was classic bay view energy at a little more of an upscale level. My biggest problem was the price (okay my mom paid this time). We managed to spend upwards of 80 dollars for two.

Very welcoming and great atmosphere, along with a very friendly staff and welcoming staff. Everyone greeted and said hello upon entering the restaurant. The atmosphere is cute, quaint, and comfortable, and with its decor of nostalgic pictures to the wallpaper and the bookcases - this the kind of place to sit down, have coffee, read a paper, either in quietness or mingle with friends. I truly enjoyed and had a liking to the ambiance.

After sitting down and looking through the menu, I decided to order the Breakfast Casserole with a side of their House Fries with Aioli and, always, a bloody mary (opt for their Honey Pie's Classic Bloody). The food came out quickly. Let me tell you, the casserole was as cheesy as can be and given in a very generous amount. It comes sunny, but I prefer and ordered my eggs scrambled. It wasn't what I expected in a casserole, but once I dove my fork in, all the cheesy goodness, sausage, and gravy came out. Underneath it all were the potatoes and biscuit/pie crust. It appeared that it was made like a pie, which I thought was different and unique for this casserole. The flavor and taste were a bit on the sweet side for my liking. The fries were seasoned very nicely with seasoned herbs. However, I didn't care for the aioli too much. Even with the flavor, it tasted too much like mayonnaise. Their Honey Pie Classic Bloody Mary was a bit disappointing as I've heard great things about it. Didn't particularly like the taste - I can't pinpoint it, but just wasn't the right flavor for me. The mimosa, which I made the decision to have later and wanted to try (because it brunch so it's a must!), came out in a tall glass cup and was too sweet for my taste, as well. However, I'd have to say it tasted like freshly sweet squeezed oranges, which is always appreciated. Once I was done with the meal and before asking for the check and boxes to go, I was asked if I wanted a pie for dessert and was shown a menu. Unfortunately, I kindly declined - my taste buds aren't too fond of sweets (as you can tell), and I didn't get a pie. Now that I think about it, I wish I wouldve gotten a pie "to go" because I've heard they're extremely good. Hence, their name 😉

Overall, the place was nice and the ambiance was cozy; the staff were very friendly and welcoming; the dish that I ordered (although generous) was no more or less than "okay" and the drinks would be described as "I've had better"; the prices, I felt in my opinion, were a bit high (ex. 1 egg for $3.50). Given that, I'd be interested in coming back and giving their other dishes a try and, most definitely, the next time around, get a piece of that pie.

I do like Honeypie and have dined at this newer location 3-4 times. The things that stop me from going more often are the prices (everything seems 20% higher than it should be) and the lack of healthier options. So, I don't go there when I want something healthy :)

Most of the pie slices have been great although my recent chocolate slice was rich without being sweet enough? Hard to describe. My friends' slices to go were pretty small for $9 each. I'd like to suggest that they put the price of the pies on the menu they hand customers. I personally would never assume that a slice in this type of place would be more than $7.

Driving through town on our way to the airport, we stopped in and were pleasantly surprised at the great service, great food, and atmosphere.
I had the Banh Mi with pork-belly. Absolutely delicious.
The pot-pie was also hearty and filling. Only negative was the fries were slightly dense and could have used a little more cooking.

Wish we could have stayed for the pie. Next time for sure!
