The waiter was super friendly and nice and joked with us a little. I wish the restaurant had more parking but I'm not going to let that spoil things. I had the sweet and sour shrimp. My suggestion is to replace the mashed potatoes with rice, Mark it down as an appetizer. Rice and shrimp were an odd combo. We also had the honey pistachio chicken and it was basic. Nothing special. Patio is nice and quieter. But the staff have to take the trash out that same way

Came here from out of town needing a good steak… started off with a non-alcoholic Whiskey Old fashioned that was quite bad - Betty took care of me and brought a very good non-alcoholic IPA that didn’t disappoint!

I ordered the NY strip Mid rare but with a good sear. It showed up with a very good sear, and raw in the middle ha!
Betty got it back to me cooked, still a bit rare for me but I guess everyone’s definition of medium rare is different…
Not a bad steak all things considered!

Overall I would say everything was under seasoned. The vegetables needed a LOT of salt. The potatoes were not as creamy as I expected (considering the menu says “Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes”. They needed salt as well. The steak could’ve used a good bit more salt as well, to be honest I don’t know if there was any on it haha.

Finishing with the crème brûlée, (Betty’s recommendation). Perfect caramelized sugar with a cold custard underneath. They did serve it with a chocolate covered spoon which I thought was unnecessary and took away from the dish quite a bit…

Such an beautiful restaurant. My waitress Annie, is such an amazing person. She made the visit a 5 star visit! If you want any suggestions on food or drinks she is the girl to ask, everything she recommended was perfect! The food was delicious and they were able to accommodate my father who is gluten free. I came to Wisconsin for the RAW ride from Massachusetts and honestly I would come back to Wisconsin again for this restaurant and to have the waitress Annie again.

It was a rainy night when we arrived. So the warmth of the staff was really appreciated.

Wooden decor revealed this has been here for a while and well-established for it was evident locals were meeting there for after work drinks

Loved the warm sourdough rolls. I choose short ribs that literally fell off the bones. Loved the horse radish mashed potatoes.

This establishment has been a favourite of mine for years. Unfortunately they are only open some days of the week, often not the ones I am passing through Eau Claire.

I usually get their garlic steak, which is a specialty for the establishment. This occasion I opted for sea bass. The tap list usually has excellent options. The food is most excellent. There is a reason this place is consistently busy every occasion that I have patronized it.

I like them a lot. There’s places in eau claire that are ghetto fabulous. Higher prices and trying to exude luxury. This is not one of them. Amazing food, quality and decently priced. You also get free dessert on your birthday, which i did. The waitress was attentive. Everytime i go there the staff is great.

First time at this establishment. Came here based on reviews and referrals. This place was recommended on a fine dining in Eau Claire request. It came up very short on our expectations. The vibe, atmosphere, setting was very bleh. We had thoughts of dining at the bar but it didn't look very appealing, no wow factor so we table dined. We ordered Mushrooms Mornay for appetizer and steaks for main course. The Mushrooms Mornay looked cooked in a cream of mushroom soup and baked. It was okay at best, wouldn't order it again.
The steaks are market price here $30-40 which you would expect high quality meat at market price. The taste, flavor and tender were very underwhelming. We asked for cooked medium and it was closer to medium rare. The side dishes were okay at best with their mashed potatoes and green beans. Desserts were okay the truffles were best. The first bourbon came with regular ice water cubes, really? Had to request the big ice cube. This is one and done for us. Texas Roadhouse is better in every category than here.

Very nice looking supper club. Professional service, drinks were good, apps were excellent, sides were tasty but the main part of each meal was not all that good. The red fish special was dry and plain, needed more flavor, and the tortellini was gummy. The lamb chop was good but the croquettes were better. It was really close to being an exceptional meal but the main courses were a let down. I was hungry so I cleared my plate but wouldn't order the specials again.

First of all, never serve a draft beer in a warm glass. The tap wasn't that cold to begin with and putting it in a warm glass did not help.

I got the 12 oz NY Strip. There was quite a bit of fat on my cut. More than I would expect on a $35 cut. But hey, that cut has to go to someone.

The staff was friendly and the ambience was nice. No complaints there. But for a $100 meal for two, I would have expected better. We drove a long way to get here and my expectations may have been too high.

Prime rib ordered was 14 Oz med. Absolutely no blood on plate. You could see where blood was wiped off, was some under steak and cold crusty garlic mashed potatoes. Betty is a national treasure! She was very friendly juggling our large party of 15 people last night. She made sure our drinks were full/replaced. She's quite hilarious and joked with us. She was on top of things and made our time at Houligans great!

The French onion soup was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed the candied garlic medallions dish, although the vegetables had no seasoning whatsoever.

The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere. It could be good for a date or, in our case, a family dinner. Whenever we return, we have to ask for Betty! Some of the best service, hands down!

Was in the area for the weekend and needed some dinner. Saw they had a Sat night smoked prime rib and decided to try it out. Probably one of the best prime rib I've ever had in all my 50 years. Make reservations here!!! Caleb was our waiter and he was everything a waiter should be. Very impressed. I have high standards with how waitstaff should be, as I used to be one and he was incredible. Attended to each table on its own & did not rush.
My husband ordered a caesar salad tossed in ranch and he said that was the best salad he’s ever had. He is a rib eye guy and went ahead and ordered the rib eye, medium rare, with the Irish Whiskey sauce with onions & mushrooms. That had to be the best rib eye him & I have ever had while dining out!!
The special was Scallops, topped with a seasoned bread crumb with Au Gratin potatoes & vegetable was green beans. That is what I wanted, so I ordered! These scallops w/ the potatoes were mouth watering, right with the rib eye!

My food tasted great, but my wife wasnt a fan of the prime rib. It tasted unseasoned.

A but pricey but overall the experience was worth the $120 bill.

Ordered truffles and cake as well. Recommend the cake, but truffles are overpriced for what they are. Also menu notes (s) as in more than 1. $2.5 is not a good price for a tiny truffle.

If you're in the Eau claire area and have a hankering for steak..... This is the place. Been going to Houligans for a few years now and have never left disappointed. The steaks always as I have ordered. The mixed drinks, always on point. Finally, the service. Top notch. Very friendly and very helpful staff.

Never eaten here until tonigbt for 10 years I've heard great things so I ordered garlic 3 medallion steak meal and a regular steak medallion meal. Steaks perfectly cooked the meals both came with mash and veg which were generous sized and the quality overal was great I'll definitely be returning for your prime rib Wed. If you haven't been here I suggest it highly I'm kinda mad that I've waited this long to give them a shot

I've only been here 4 times over the past several years. The first time it was fine, the rest have been pretty bad. The service is always great, but the food is mediocre at best and some things taste bad. The last time we ate here was just a few weeks ago and was a "chance at redemption " so to speak, since I see such good reviews for them.

The recent visit, the service was really good.
The steak we ordered was cooked correctly, but severely underseasoned. The mushroom appetizer, the mashed potatoes, and the dessert we received were certainly microwaved, which gave all a bit of an odd texture. The veggie side was exactly 7 green beans and 4 carrot sticks.
We didn't bother sending anything back this time, as it was all edible, just not worth the price at all, and in the past has not made a difference.

The last time we'd gone was around 4 years ago and was the worst dining experience I've had. The service was terrible and our server was pretty dismissive from the start.
We sent back each item (steak, appetizer, side of zucchini and summer squash) multiple times because the vegetables were completely raw and all items were cold. After the third time getting it back and the vegetableswere still raw, we just paid and left.

I know a lot of people who love this place and go here often, so maybe we just keep getting off nights, but after 3 visits that left us extremely disappointed, I'm not willing to spend another $50-$100 just to be disappointed again.

Unique bar and restaurant. Large variety of spirits and beer. We were a group of friends with varied backgrounds and countries. Everyone found something to love about this place. We all ordered different items off menu and we were all happy with our meals. They even substituted side dishes. Our bar staff and wait staff were a joy. And we will be meeting back there again.

I would have to say I wasn’t to overly impressed.
It was decent, the the drink was good, but my pasta (sausage penne type thing, can’t remember what it was called) was blan and nothing I would say to write home about. My husband had the prime rib and said he was good.

Went for my birthday, and it was great. We really had a great time and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere and great wait-staff. Dishes were very tasty, and our server Morgan was courteous and fun.
