For our 36 anniversary Brenda and I spent a week in the Dells, our Anniversary Dinner was at The House of Embers. The staff is extremely friendly the decor and music was like taking a time machine back to the 30s or 40s and the music was just loud enough to hear it wasn't loud enough to hamper conversation.
We had stuffed mushrooms and sirloin medallions with a caramelized blue cheese for appetizers they were fabulous.
Main course was petite filet and lobster (that's kinda our normal anniversary meal) it was beyond fantastic.
Everything about that evening was epic, thanks House of Embers for making it so.

I had the Surf and Turf Torenedos. Every element of this dish was tasty by it self but eating them together was a whole new flavor profile. Loved the dish. We had the escargot as an appetizer. They were tender buttery garlic bites. Make sure to dip the bread pieces in the leftovers. You won't be sorry. Bon appetit!

Started off at the bar with excellent brandy old fashions an a shrimp cocktail. Very good. We both ordered steaks, I had the river and my dining companion a 6 oz. filet. Both were cooked to a perfect medium rare. We ordered the spinach salad, the pear dressing was tasty. Looking forward to returning again.

Called to make a reservation to celebrate a birthday. We were rudely told they do nothing for you to honor celebrating anything. We were told too many people “fake” their birthday. That is NOT us. After 20 years of being faithful to this restaurant, taking our business elsewhere.

Magnificent supper club right on the strip of Lake Delton. This establishment has been here for years and I finally took the time to fine here. It was so well worth the visit. Immediately upon entering, the host and hostess, whom I presume are the owners, all smiley and such, welcomed me (as well as thanked me for my patronage with I left). The atmosphere was cozy with families dining together, enjoying a birthday together, etc. My server was a sweet lady who often checked on me. The food though, was off the chain! I made it during happy hour and didn't want to over eat as I still had a littke drive back to Milwaukee. I had the 8 oz. Sirloin topped with blue cheese. Using "Embers" as part of the name of their restaurant surely spoke for itself in the steak as it had a succulent char-grilled taste, perfectly medium-rare. The vegetable medley of cauliflower, green beans and carrots were perfectly al dente and buttery. The scoop of roasted mashed 🥔 with chives was delicious. Topped with two wheat and caraway seed dinner rolls prior and a Capital Brew Oktoberfest, I was satiated and not overly full. I ordered a piece of carrot cake to go and my server said it was enough for 4 people. She wasn't kidding. My wife and I shared it later and it was the best 🥕 cake we ever had. I will be returning to try the ribs and prime rib. This place is a treat.

Story time! We came here for my girlfriends 21st birthday while on vacation at Chula Vista Resort. Their grill house was on average 100$ a person for a steak, this place was 50$ average for a steak. They sat us in the coziest, romantic spot with curtains and low lighting and they we're very friendly and just genuinely awesome! We ordered an app of truffle fries and got some cocktails that we're both very yummy. My girlfriend then decided to read some reviews to see it's an average 4.1 star, we're already too far in I said to leave BUT... when we got our entrees (mine being the grill master combo, and her's being the filet mignon!) they blew us away! Both steaks cooked medium rare! The garlic in the mashed potatoe side was so fantastic and the ribs I got next to my steak we're fall of the bone! Overall the food was fantastic! (My steak could've used a touch more salt but I'm being picky) Overall for a romantic dinner on a budget (well better prices then others in the area) It was definitely worth the stop!! If you want a cozy romantic seating with overall fantastic food and want to treat your lover Highly recommend!

For our 36th wedding anniversary, we wanted to treat ourselves to a memorable supper club experience, hoping to indulge in delightful food and ambiance. While we certainly got the ambiance, the experience itself was somewhat lacking. Upon arrival, we were guided to a charming, intimate booth tucked away behind a curtain, which set a cozy tone for the evening. However, my excitement quickly turned into a mishap as I went to sit down and unexpectedly fell backward. It turned out there was no wall behind the curtain—just open space! To my surprise, the hostess didn’t check on me at all after the fall, leaving me feeling a bit neglected. 🥺🤨🧐
Once settled, we ordered some drinks and a plate of bruschetta to start while we waited for our entrees. The drinks were decent, and the bruschetta was passable—neither particularly impressive nor completely unsatisfactory. For my main course, I chose the pasta and meatballs, while my wife opted for a wedge salad, hoping for something fresh and flavorful.
When the dishes arrived, I was taken aback by the presentation and quality. My meatballs were disappointingly small and shockingly hard; there were only a few on the plate. When I attempted to cut through one with my fork, I was met with resistance—no matter how much pressure I applied, the meatball refused to yield. My fork finally pierced through, revealing a gray, unappetizing interior. In that moment, I felt relieved that I hadn’t consumed any of it. Honestly, it felt like these meatballs could have come straight from a wholesale store like Sam's Club or Costco, and they would have still been a better choice.
My wife’s wedge salad was similarly uninspiring. It consisted of a large slice of iceberg lettuce, simply drizzled with globs of lumpy ranch dressing, which overwhelmed the freshness of the lettuce rather than complementing it.
When our server returned to check on us, I couldn’t help but express my disappointment about the meals. I even showed her the meatballs, hoping for a response or acknowledgment of our dissatisfaction. Instead, she just asked, "Are you done?" At that point, there was no denying we were. Reflecting on our reservation made earlier, I also recalled mentioning that we were celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary; it felt disheartening that this special occasion went unnoticed throughout the entire experience.

Overall a good experience; the service by Alexandra was phenomenal!!
I ordered the 12oz sirloin cooked medium-well. The steak arrived medium, so I sent it back and it arrived back charred/burnt. Making it inedible.
I like the atmosphere, but overall the cooking on the steak was sub-par. I’d likely come back but look elsewhere first.

Food was mediocre at best. Family of 4 and we ordered cheese curds for an appetizer, main courses were Filet, sirloin and ribs, burger, and chicken tenders. Filet was decent but not seasoned, ribs were dry and tasted reheated or old, fries are the equivalent of frozen crinkle cut fries you cook at home (but I actually season them at home). The only bright spot were the curds. Service was very slow and the restaurant was not busy. Overall we were very disappointed in the food and the experience and would not return.

Very disappointing experience at The House of Embers – WI Dells. Ordered a bottle of wine for a 90th birthday and the waitress brought out the wrong bottle. When the food arrived one steak order was replaced with a hamburger and the birthday girls’ medium rare fillet was well done both had to be sent back. The walleye entrée was very dry and full of pin bones. Water glasses were never refilled. They did offer to comp a dessert but we had a birthday cake back at the hotel. Management never came out to apologize and no reparations were offered. Eat somewhere else.

We tried House of Embers for a family dinner on our last night in the Dells.
Portions were generous, server Tyrone was great.
3 of us had chicken and ribs. Our meals were ok, however was expecting more flavorful meat. Asked for bbq sauce for chicken bc it was a bit dry.
1 of us had steak and ribs, steak was good.
Kids had pretzel burger and 3 cheese ravioli from regular menu. Unfortunately they didn't like their meals.
Would I come here again, probably not.

Service was excellent. Food was awesome. Had bacon rapped dates and oysters on the half shell as appetizers. Ribeye and BBQ pork ribs combo, and rack of lamb as mains with salads and baked potatoes. Everything came out just at the right time and all the empty plates taken from the table in a first class order. Sat outside on the outdoor patio. Really enjoyed our meal and drinks. Older establishment, still going great

Finally a great restaurant experience in the Dells. Very good steak. I ordered a petite filet and it arrived perfectly cooked. It came with a salad and choice of potato. I opted for what turned out to be a nice twist on spinach salad, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the scallions in the mashed potatoes. Definitely going to add that next time at home.
I did splurge on both a brandy old fashioned sweet (probably for the first time in 20+ years drinking one of those! But, when in Rome....er, a supper club...) as well as the creme brulee for dessert. The Old Fashioned had an orange slice and a Luxardo cherry (vast improvement over the standard neon "maraschino" at other places), and the brulee had the perfect crisp brulee. Will definitely be back on a future visit to the Dells.

First time at House of Embers, came with my wife. We both enjoyed the food and service. We hit happy hour so the prices were excellent as well 😀. I got the happy hour special blue cheese sirloin and it was fantastic. Probably had the best seasoning of any steak I've had at a restaurant and that's including some higher end steak joints. The blue cheese topping was high quality and delicious. My wife also got a steak and she said it was seasoned well. Only reason I'm not rating the food five stars is neither steak was cooked exactly as we ordered them. I asked for medium rare and it came medium and she asked for rare and it came straight blue (cooked like 20-30 seconds on a side). We got the spin dip and crab cake appetizers and both were excellent. For desert she got the key lime pie which was great and I got the turtle sundae which was a bit odd but decent. Overall, we'll come back for sure.

House of Embers food is definitely 5 star. The ribs literally fall off the bone and had perfect taste. It’s everything you want when you eat ribs.
The 6oz South African Lobster tails were excellent. They were tender, juicy, and quite large unlike the lover tails you get at chain restaurants. We were very happy. We wanted to add those onto our meal instead of the 5 oz Canadian Lobster Tails. To add those on is an up charge of $29.99. We asked how much it would cost to add two of the South African Tails on. It was $54.99 each but an entire meal which included 2 tails, soup or salad, potato and bread was only $99. We were confused at why it would cost more to add on two tails which didn’t make sense so we just got the whole meal for $99.
We both had the beef and barley soup. We didn’t care for it but it was still decent. The veggies that came with my tails were really good.
It was busy and the service was kind of slow but we did get taken care of.
The atmosphere reminded us of a cheap Chinese restaurant with shower curtains randomly hanging up. LOL. We got a good laugh. But it was nice and we enjoyed it.
I had the Blueberry Moscow Mule. 5 star all the way. It was tasty. The firecracker shrimp was really good too.
We will definitely go back and we high recommend giving them a try.

We had booked a private room for my mother's birthday, and the atmosphere was awesome. First of all, I'd like to give a shoutout to our waitress, Alexandra. She did a stupendous job, always coming by to make sure we were doing good, offering fill-ups and other services.
Now the food was a bit pricey, but you do get what you paid for, and more.
Overall, the atmosphere is great, the service is excellent, and the food is spectacular. This is a great place to take your family and friends for nice occasions, your sweet lady for a nice date night, or a first date to impress a lady you've been trying to get.

Refused to seat us 30 minutes before closing. Change your closing time, or honor it. Never patronizing this establishment.
EDIT: Oh sorry I didn't realize there was a time limit to notice someone being a jerk, or to reply. Sorry bud, there is no statute of limitations on Google. I love how you point out this was six years ago, but you're obviously STILL awful by the way you reply. You refused to seat us. Own it. I confirmed the hours when I was there, and they said they would not seat us within a half hour of closing. Doubling (now tripling) down on your refusal to serve us just makes you look even worse. Apologize already. To anyone else reading this, you can see how the egos of the owners supersede any real contrition for their failures. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

We visited recently. Embers is noted for their ribs and steaks, perhaps we should have stuck to that.
First, surprised at $18.25 Brandy Old Fashioneds. This was Happy Hour.
My wife ordered the Icelandic Cod topped with Roma Tomatoes, Swiss Cheese and Fresh Basil. Added the French Onion Soup as a side, menu said it was discounted with a main. Discount not allowed, as we already had another side. Full price for good French Onion soup, not exceptional. The Cod was OK, certainly nothing special, little flavor. Scalloped potatoes were excellent.
I ordered the Pan Seared Walleye, Topped with Wisconsin Maple
Peacan Butter. Generous portion, excellent pieces of Walleye, with virtually no flavor. No trace of the Peacan Butter or anything else. Disappointing. Garlic mashed potatoes were good.
As for the Walleye, I took it home, fried it in butter with salt and pepper, crisped it a bit and it was delicious.
Overall, premium prices for mediocre food tastiness. No idea what makes their Old Fashioned worth $18.25.

One of the smallest portions I've ever had in the State of WI. The baked was just OK. The battered was very greasey. My wife's salad was nice however my cup of soup was very disappointing. Seamed like it was out of a bag. I ordered a bottle of beer and it was warm..She ordered Korbel and club soda and it ok but her two drinks I could of bought a whole bottle $11.00 each. My steak fries were the highlight of my meal. I ordered OYSTERS IN THE HALF SHELL although they seamed fine lots of shell fragments.. overall not a good experience. Went here for the first time this past weekend and really enjoyed it. Got the early bird pricing for the prime rib and lobster and it was cooked perfectly. The only downfall was the early bird price doesn't include a salad like most of their entrees do. I like a salad before my meal, so that was an added 7.95 or something like that, but it was good and fresh and they make their own dressings in house. We had good service and they brought a coloring page and crayons out for my child. They also have a children's menu (so it was kid friendly). Dining companion got the ravioli since they are vegetarian and it was a hearty portion. Be aware however, that vegetarian options are limited. It was either that or fettuccine alfredo, but this is a supper club vibe so people go there primarily for steaks and seafood. I personally would definitely come back.

We were asked if we’d like to sit in the lounge area as they had live entertainment, we of course said yes and were seated immediately! It was the perfect spot! I ordered a Filet with fried mushrooms, twice baked potato and a side salad. My husband had the NY Strip with twice baked potato and upgraded to a wedge salad. Our food was cooked Perfectly! We even shared the Bread pudding for dessert. Best we’ve had!
Our waiter was very attentive, but not intrusive. Our drinks were delicious as well and we ABSOLUTELY loved listening to the live entertainment- Derek Ramnarace from ‘Old Soul Society’ was AMAZING!! We had the best night and will definitely be back!

Staff was amazing! I had made a reservation letting them know I had a service dog and we were welcomed and treated very kind and with respect! Staff was amazing and even helped find just the right thing in the kitchen that my dog eats as a treat (some fruit) so I was happy I could order him a little snack too! Everyone was so very thoughtful. The food was perfection. We had NA daiquiris and they were mixed spot on. We did 2 shrimp cocktails and both were plated beautifully very large shrimp that were nice and fresh, the cocktail sauce was heavenly! My daughter had a steak and was a perfect medium rare as she asked for the portion size was well worth the price. I had the lobster and petite filet medium with onions and mushrooms and it was cooked perfectly asked. The lobster just melted in your mouth! We both got baked potatoes and they were very large size so we were very pleased with that. To finish we did the NY Style Cheesecake the slice was large and did not disappoint! We definitely will be back and would recommend anyone!

Waitress bringing water to tables dumped one on one of us. Never apologized or offered anything as an apology. Dinner roles were old/hard. Ordered bruschetta and it was literally garlic cheese bread they serve with pasta dishes with diced tomatoes on top and no balsamic dressing. Other guests (who own a food service) ordered cheese curds and said they were over cooked and tasted like the were freezer burnt. The only part of my meal I liked were the ribs, other than that everyone else ordered steak and wasn't happy.
Also, with a party of 4 they automatically added Gratuity to the bill (even though one of us had water dumped on them) and if you pay cash CHECK YOUR TOTAL! they also sneak in credit card fees, even if your paying cash. We told them they needed to remove it.

Our New Year’s Eve dinner started good with drinks 🍹 Then ordered dinner for 6 with salads & soup. Minutes after salads & soup arrived our food came. Timing was bad, prime rib bloody when ordered med well. Meals not hot. Overall food was
Marginal at best. $500 dinner I expected more. Beware of fee to use a credit card. I know of better supper clubs in the Dells, skip this one for sure.

Went here with my whole family which is 6 people drinks were amazing but the food we had to send back one plate for undercooked meat the second one was to shy to say his meat wasn’t cooked enough so he just ate the lobster my chicken Parmesan was water no flavor literally ate one bite on top of that the salads soup bread and dinner all came at once felt like we were being rushed out the restaurant for the price I just feel like timing could have been better but I get it was a busy night just not happy with being rushed and food being messed up fine dining means fine dining you charge those prices I expect fine dining , service was great but again felt rushed out! will not be back sucks because honestly a beautiful location and the atmosphere was great

Had a 15 minute wait on a Saturday night around 6pm. There was entertainment - an older fellow playing saxophone, singing, and a pianist. The prime rib special was good! The French onion soup- ask for extra cheese right away - the soup was a big crouton with 1/2 ounce of cheese. Loaded mash potatoes tasted like authentic camping 😁.

The overall experience we had was pretty good. The menu is fairly simple and does not offer a lot of options for people with food allergies. The taste of the food was pretty good overall. The service was fairly good, although I felt like the server had some difficulty answering questions and helping us make choices while visiting this place.

Second time coming here I have to say we were disappointed. They had a live band in the bar but they didn't seat us there. We went there after dinner but the musician was only playing another 5 minutes until 830 on a Friday. He said we could have probably asked to be seated there if we really wanted to hear the band. Seems like they could have asked me at the host station. We order drinks and they couldn't make a sidecar at a "Supper Club". Asked me for an alternate I said I'd have a bourbon Manhattan neat. It came on the rocks. My wife had issues as well, it was made bitter not sweet old fashioned. We felt bad but had to send them both back. We got wine instead. I ordered a ribeye which was done perfectly though thin and the fact that the baked potato was just sliced and not even opened, sour cream in a plastic container on the side and butter in the little individual wraps almost frozen didn't exactly say quality for the $45 price. Did also come with a salad which was pretty good. My wife got the lamb chops in a nice sauce but were overcooked. That shouldn't happen for another almost $50 entree. For what they charge they have to up their game and get a real bartender. Historic but they can't rest on their laurels.

Nice place for dinner. Came for the early bird specials. My wife had the rib and chicken combo. Good not not exceptional. Portions were big, and so were the sides. I had sirloin steak - however, the cut of meat was so tough I could not even eat it - as much as I tried. Appreciate they replaced it with grilled fish - and it was excellent. Depends what you order.

There are far better choices in the area. Had baked cod which was worse than average, would not return, odd decor, lots of staff relative to number of patrons at 8 pm on a Friday, staff moving around a lot and clanking dishes and talking loudly, expensive special Cocktail did not taste very special.

We came in at 430 on a Saturday with a table for 4. We were told it would be about 30 minutes for a table, so like any good Wisconsin resident we headed to the bar. It was busy but we managed to get seats at the far side of the bar. We ordered an old fashioned and a gin gimlet as well as half dozen oysters on the half shell - waiting for the other couple to arrive. The old fashioned was made and brought right away but then the obviously confused bartender proceeded to fill dozens of other drinks without ever coming back to our side of the bar. About 25 minutes later our friends arrived we continued to try to get anyone to come back to our side of the bar ( three bartenders working one half of the bar mixing one drink at a time using hot glasses fresh from the dishwasher). After approximately 45 minutes of our friends trying to order drinks we decided to leave and go to another establishment for dinner.

I was given a bit of a hassle about my service dog. After that, it was quite nice. I had one of the best ribeye steaks. My friend has prime rib and another had lobster tail and they were wonderful. Hard the waitress to get us things like bread and butter and hot sauce. The bacon wrapped dates were outstanding as was the salad it was served on. I asked the server to ask what kind of dressing they used and never got an answer. The oysters Rockefeller were iffy. The one I had was terrible and I gave the other half of it to one of my friends. She agreed but said hers was good. The pumpkin pie slice was tiny.

The food was delicious, the meal was well paced. The service was old school service, personable, knowledgeable, and on point. The menu had great options. The drink recommendation’s were good. The atmosphere felt quiet and intimate, and the restaurant had a joyful vibe. The restaurant itself is a bit dated but it did feel like a traditional Wisconsin restaurant. The restrooms were clean. The restaurant has an outdoor patio with live music during certain times and a Happy hour at the bar was available at certain times too.

I found this super club superb. Especially in an area where everything is gimmicky. We got, oysters on the half shell, crab cakes, oysters Rockefeller, beef tips, portabella sirloin, prime rib & lobster, kids ravioli, and a ribeye. The apps were great. Wouldn't recommend the beef tips, just because the others were so great. I just returned from Maine prior to this, I thought the lobster was cool much better here. Prime rib was amazing, but my wife's portabella sirloin was my favorite. Mushrooms were great and thick, the temperature on the steak was perfect, and the sear was GREAT. Highly recommend. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

I'm giving it 4 stars because the food and drinks were delicious, but that was about it. Had a 7pm reservation but didn't get seated until 7:45. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night (which is understandable) so they ran out of prime rib by 8pm. I'd recommend eating earlier around 5:30 or 6pm. But once we got seated and served the food and drinks were awesome. The clientele on the other hand was something to be desired. We saw multiple people in swim trunks, cut off t-shirts, and hats. I get that it is a touristy area, but come on people!! Maybe change out of your water park clothes before coming to eat at a more high end restaurant, and maybe take off your hat while at the table. That drove me nuts, but I guess I'm old school. I'd come back and eat again but probably not on the weekend during the summer.

We had never been to House of Embers before. We went to Ishnala, but as they don't take reservations, it would have been a 3.5 to 4 hour wait. I don't care what kind of reputation you have. There was no way we were going to wait. We looked up other supper clubs in the area, and that's how we ended up at the House of Embers. We were so delighted by everything. It was fortunate Ishnala didn't work out. We will definitely be going back next time we're in the area.

Worst experience ever!
1. We were seated 30 mins after our reservation. Then told “we should be happy we even getting seated and served because this is Wisconsin Dells.”
2. We were served frozen rolls. Not only premade rolls but literally rolls that were frozen in the middle. This was shortly after the lady who seated us told us we are lucky to be there because everything is hand made
3. Then 1.5 hours after being there we got our food. It wasn’t even what we ordered and looked awful. I wish I could post the pictures but I don’t see that as an option
4. I asked 3 times to talk to a manager. I was finally walked to their kitchen and he still couldn’t even give me 30 seconds of his attention. I get being short staffed. My family has owned and operated bars, restaurants, and catering services, but to not even give a customer the time of day?!?
5. Then because we waited so long the money I spent for my kids to play at Tom’s Foolery was wasted and I still had to take my family out for food
You couldn’t pay me to go back to this place. We are frequent fliers in the Dells. After this treatment I am sure this establishment could care less about losing our service but hopefully others will read this review and think twice before wasting their time and money.

Update: Called and spoke with a manager who just wanted to take my number, rather than listen to my entire issue, so the owner could call me back the next morning.
It's been 6 days.. no call back.
Oh how the grand have fallen...
Wife and I rarely have the disposable income to dine at a place at this price level. Our special night started with me requesting a romantic booth, AND we were sat next to a 16 top birthday party; loud, and we felt our server rushed us because she was also on the large group.
We ordered drinks and oysters. Oysters arrived before the drinks and the drinks had sat before delivery (watery at the top and a lot of condensation) and were served without beverage napkins making the table quite wet.
I ordered the ribeye Oscar MR ($55) and my wife ordered the petite filet MED & 5oz lobster tail ($59). Salads were ok, entrees arrived in good time. Wife's steak was cooked MR and was bland. My steak was very undercooked and had to be sent back. Sides were small, crab meat was shredded not lump and asparagus was woody. When my plate returned the second baked potato was smaller than the first, and the steak was medium on one end and still rare on the other. The cut of meat itself was horrible, far too high fat content and gristle throughout. I could have gotten a better cut of meat at an Applebee's.
When I asked to speak to a manager a "lead-server" came and offered to replace the steak (we were done eating). We accepted a second round of drinks ($30) for the poor meal. VERY surprised there wasn't a front of house manager or restaurant manager to talk to us and no one was doing 'table touches'.
The restaurant itself was run down, walls were out of date, had random nails without any decor hanging on them and old wall paper and mirrors.
Service was decent but for what this restaurant is supposed to be it wasn't special.
This used to be one of the awesome supper club style restaurants in the Dells, but now it's simply average. Not at all worth the price point.
Spent $220 including tip and was very disappointed.
We're able to go out to a really nice place once or twice a year... We should have gone somewhere else.

Made reservations for 645. Arrived on-time.
Of the 5 empty booths, all 5 were dirty and needing to be bussed.
Once our table was finally cleaned, we were seated. My kids and I waited over 10 minutes and had no service. No waiter/waitress, nothing. No one came to our table!
We ended up leaving in search of a proper supper club that was cleaned and wanted our business.

We went here last night for my birthday dinner & I can't compliment them enough. First off the entire staff was wonderful from the girls that greeted us at the hostess station to the bartenders that mixed a fabulous old fashioned. Our waitress made our dining experience great, she was so friendly & made sure we were taken care of. Lastly to the chef that prepared our food it was exceptional!
