My wife and I ate here as part of a group. We'd never been here before. I am glad that they've kept the moderately politically incorrect name. The place is well-maintained with some interesting dated native American artwork. The food was quite good. I had the Seafood Jambalaya and my wife had the maple glazed walleye, and both were excellent. The service was pleasant and efficient, particularly being part of a group of 14. Ambience was casual but friendly. Prices are moderately high but not extravagant. We are likely to eat here again.

I have eaten at Indianhead Supper Club 3 times and everytime, my supper was 5 star quality. You wouldn't expect the old fashioned fine dining in this rural area, but it's exqusite with that old fashioned dining experience.
I've had both the 1/2 Chicken and BBQ Ribs and it was some of the best cuisine I have eaten on this side of the border. Beautiful quaint atmosphere with fine dining experience and a lake view.
Did I say the BBQ Ribs were A-MAZ-ING? Indeed they were. Best ribs I've ever had and they come on a cedar plank and they are melt in your mouth with actual meat on them! Highly recommend this restaurant for your extra special celebrations. Meals are priced higher than other restaurants in the area because the food is high quality. This is not a place where you bring your kids. This is an adult dining experience.
I have never been there when there was live music so I don't know where they would do that. There's no dancefloor. Maybe it's something they do outside in the summer??? You'd have to call them and ask about that. Bathrooms are downstairs for those with disabilities.
We have always arrived around 5:00pm and sometimes have been some of the first people there because once 5:30 rolls around, it starts getting busy fast! Last time, they were short staffed until more waiters come on duty, but you're there to DINE. If you want it faster, go to a fast food restaurant. This is where you come to dine. Celebrate your special day with delicious cuisine and a cozy atmosphere.

I was very excited to take my wife here after our wedding the night before. We had heard great things from friends and our Airbnb host, and on TV, so we thought we'd be in for a great time at an old school Supper Club. I had called ahead to make a reservation and mentioned that we were celebrating just getting married and that we'd like a good spot, if possible.

Unfortunately, the service we received left much to be desired. The restaurant was almost empty, but they sat us right next to the busing station, which was very disappointing. We ordered a couple of old fashioneds, but then it took quite a while for our server to get to us and she just asked something like "What do you want?" rather than greet us, and I had to ask her if there were any specials. We had to think about what we'd like since we just heard the specials, so we asked her to come back. It was taking a long time for her to circle back to us, but I could see she was busy, so we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. Eventually my wife tried to flag her down and she said she'd be right there, but then took a long time after that. I had to get up and ask for a manager (gone for the night) and ended up having to get the bartender to come take our order. The waitress came back over then and offered to take our order but then gave us some sass about how she'd stopped by earlier.

At this point it was far too late for us to go anywhere else so we put in our order. Service did get better, but then they turned off the music which was weird. Also, most of our food was good but my shrimp was pretty overcooked. We did really enjoy the warm brie, especially the jam that came with it.

I would not recommend someone come here. Go to Dalles House in Saint Croix Falls instead. We have been there, and it was awesome compared to this.

We love dining at the old school WI supper club. Every dish we've enjoyed has exceeded our expectations. This time hubby had the surf & turf special. The steak was perfectly cooked to temp at medium rare. the lobster was succulent. I had the salmon special, which was very lightly almond dusted & finished in a piccata style with capers & white wine. We started the evening with the walleye fingers served with the basil airlines. I saved the aioli to use on my baked potato served with my meal.

We stopped here on vacation as our one nice meal out. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. While the service and drinks were good, it ended there. I don't know what was in their fettuccine Alfredo, but it's not cheese. It tasted more like canned gravy and had a bunch of onions and leeks in it. I have heard really good things about this place, so I decided for a special date night, I would take the wife here. 🤔
It started out great with a wonderful wait staff, quick drinks, quicker appetizer (boom boom shrimp are to die for), even our soup and salad were delivered to our table in a timely manner and delicious.

And that's about where the good stuff ended. 😢
My prime was decent at best, tender for sure... just not much flavor otherwise. As for the wife's steak and scallops, we have no idea what kind of sauce it was swimming in when she got it, but it's not anything we were told about when we ordered it, and it tasted almost like a musty old building if we had to describe it in any way to be honest. 🤷🏻
After sending it back to the kitchen, (which took so long I was basically done with my prime rib by the time she got hers back), and then it was more raw than medium rare, so we brought what was left over home to be cooked later and enjoyed. After spending that much money we weren't just gonna throw it when it could be salvaged.
Needless to say, I'm not sure we will be back or recommend this place.

August 2024 Update:

Visited this last weekend and had reservations. We had to sit in the bar for 30 minutes despite having reservations. While in the bar the actual bar tender was very surly, but did make great drinks. Once finally seated our waitress was painfully slow on any and all service requests with being gone for 20 minutes at a time. We had to even ask to get a bread basket after being seated for over 45 minutes. It took a bit over 70 minutes to get our food despite not ordering anything to unique. All in time was over 120 minutes for a dinner with reservations. Food was fantastic once finally received though.

Went there for a birthday celebration and had a fantastic experience. Prices are higher than other local venues but the quality and experience more than make up for it!

My husband and I have been coming to Indianhead Supper Club for many years. We always had a wonderful experience until last night when we took our friends there for a special celebration we were “hurried” by being told that someone was waiting for our table! We hadn’t even finished our beverages yet. We thought it was very rude of the hostess. We downed our drinks paid our bill then got up and left. Previously I'd give 5 stars. Went last night and are experience was ok. Hostess was rude and barking at us when we arrived on time for our reservation. Waitress was warm, pleasant and did a great job. Food was just ok. No seasoning or crust on the prime rib, potatoes were cold. Alfredo lacked flavor and was runny. Unfortunately we won't be back to one of our favorite supper clubs. Disappointing it's not the same as it once was.

This is the second time we have been here and we will not be returning. The first time the server was great but the hostess was very rude. We got there a few minutes early and was rudely told our reservations weren’t for awhile but she said fine she would sit us down. Made us feel very unwelcome.
The second time we went for our family Christmas dinner. Our waitress was extremely rude and had no patience. We asked her to repeat parts of the specials and she huffed and was irritated. My son never got his food as she forgot to put in his order. She ended up putting it in very late and it took too long and we left so he didn’t even get to eat . Everyone’s food took very long which we understand with a group but we were there almost 3hours from start to finish. Also when we arrived the hostess was rude to our daughters which made them uncomfortable. They let her know our name and how many people she rudely snapped back and said we had a reservation for 11 and NOT 10 and treated them poorly.
It’s too bad as it’s a great atmosphere and good food, but when you’re made to feel like a major inconvenience from start to finish there is no way we will be back.

(We also have to actually drive there to make reservations as you people never answer your phones )

Got my parents a 150$ gift card and accidentally forgot to use it, so it was two months expired. Whoever the lady is that answered the phone said that it was a “tax right off” and they missed out on it due to the late use. She put up a fuss and wasn’t sure that we’d be able to use it. We were a party of four. The waitress Jenna was outstanding, prompt and very friendly. The drinks were well balanced and very good, the citrus martini was absolutely delicious. We ordered fillet with mushroom sauce, so tender and cooked to perfection. The walleye and Salmon entres were fabulous and the chicken Marsala was so tasty. Highly recommend this for any occasion!

Great environment. The piano player was adorable.
Staffing was not exceptional. Upon check in, staff did not make eye contact for at least ten minutes. We could see it was a busy nice, which is understandable, but it would be nice to be acknowledged as we did have reservations. Waitress was not overly friendly, we felt like a burden mostly.

We were a party of 13 celebrating a birthday and really wanted to love this place, but the food was subpar.
Several of the steaks were cold, the fish was under baked, and my baked potato was mush.

Nothing came out together. Our friend's onions that he ordered for his steak came out after he had already finished his steak. Our server apologized but didn't take it off our bill.
Another person's mushrooms for his steak didn't appear to be cooked. It took quite a while for drinks to be refilled, drinks from the bar took 40 minutes.

I know what you're thinking. "Why didn't you say something if your food wasn't good?"
Fair question.

We aren't sure if it was an off night, or if they aren't used to accommodating a party of our size.

I will say that our server was busting her butt for us and we truly appreciated everything she did. It certainly wasn't her fault that our meals weren't timed better or that drinks took so long to get from the bar.

It might be worth a try again if we're in the area and have a smaller party.

Prior to our stop here we called the restaurant to ensure we could get a table and were told yes. No problem. We stopped for dinner less than 5 minutes later when we arrived we were seated in the bar area and chewed out by the hostess because we didn’t have a reservation. Lol. Told we would be fine less than 5 minutes on the phone before arriving. It wasn’t busy. There was 4 tables of customers and 2 people at the bar. The right hand don’t know what the left hand is doing here. We then didn’t get service so once again I got away from the table to talk to a young gal who appeared to also be the hostess. As I approached, another customer came up and was telling this young lady about how rude Her waitress was to her. I then asked for a couple menus and sat down. Then the large hostess came over with a huge attitude and once again said she was just being accommodating by LETTING us eat at their restaurant. Lol. Ok. We then felt out of place so asked the bartender if it was ok to eat in the bar section, his reply in a huff was “i don’t know - did your ask the hostess?” The hostess, bartender and wait staff were super rude so we left without eating. We had a very disappointing experience. Our server was friendly at first, but then ignored us and was rude as our meal progressed. They were out of some items on the menu due to lack of delivery, and we were there when they opened. They would not let us move to a different, more desirable table even though it was available. The bill came as one total, but we were clearly several couples. When one couple questioned their charges, the waitress was rude.

The pasta Alfredo sauce did not look or taste like what it typically is. Our friend said it was more like a clam chowder sauce.

The one positive was that the couple who ordered the fillet said it was wonderful.

We came from some distance for a fine dining experience and did not get it. For the price, we expected better. We will not be coming back.

The host ignored us, then was short with us once we did get a chance to interact. I was grateful they were able to seat us in the bar area at a high top. Our server and meal were both excellent. First recommendation is that you need to call in for reservations they could squeeze you in if someone cancels but it is mainly a place where you need to make reservations it's very busy.

Also like to say that it's loud inside. Ppl like to talk with their mouthful evidently and loudly unfortunately. the restaurant can't control that and at least they don't have loud music to cover it up like others do like a bar.

I ordered onion rings as appetizer which were lightly breaded and lightly fried but still oily / greasy. At the start of your meal you also get plain water which is not tap and very refreshing must be filtered. I ordered the lemonade which was I believe to be real lemons squeezed.

Like all fine classy restaurants you get bread except the bread where simple rolls one per person which were a bit hard and butter was from a fridge meaning hard they should let it sit out. The bread should also be Unlimited.

Also ordered the soup of the day which was cheesy potato- very delicious and very hot.

The online menu does not mention that they serve prime rib so you need to get that which I did their king size and that was very tender the knife sliced easily right through it with little fat. The meat was made to order. Also ordered the smashed potatoes which does not come with extra toppings which is great.

The meal was rounded out with lava cake with ice cream also very hot and very delicious not overcooked and the ice cream was delicious.

The whole meal lasted about 90 minutes. The waitress did not push us but she did come by every once in awhile to check on us which is great. We were able to place your order within 20 minutes and the meal came within 20 minutes after ordering.

As mentioned it was loud but they do have an outside patio so be sure to reserve that if you know the weather will be pleasant.

One thing I did not like was the paper tablecloth which is like for kids the cloth should be cloth.

On a random whim, I did not order one of my traditional favorites- salmon, shrimp or walleye. I ordered the fillet with the crab topping. With the rice and the brown mushroom sauce, it was beyond amazing! The salmon is always amazing !

I did not catch the server’s name, but she was very nice! She made the evening fun for us!

We are so glad we have a gem here !

We had a fantastic experience coupled with an equally amazing meal! The place was very busy as we arrived, and we would definitely recommend reservations. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating from the bartenders, to the hostess, and to our waitress Heather. I had tasty Old Fashions, and my wife enjoyed the Resiling wine. The smoked ribs were out of this world , and the seafood jambalaya was perfectly seasoned! The scallops, shrimp, and andouille sausage were awesome. We also tried the creme brulee and carrot cake which were both great! We had the good fortune to have a nice conversation with not only our server, but one of the owners, and the chef. It was a great night! Thanks Indianhead!

7/29/22 dinner was great and waitress was great BUT WARNING when we got the bill they over charged us about $5.00 for a full rack of ribs and about $5.00 for 1/2 of a walleye which was the special for the night. Sorry we do not know the exact pricing charged because she never gave us the receipt back after we paid with cash. An extra $10.00 is not a big deal but “hey let’s be honest folks”🤨🤨

Came to Balsam lake to fish for the day. On the way home decided to stop and grab dinner. Had a wonderful experience here! Food and service was second to none! We live in minnesota but we will definitely make the trip back here for the food and friendly staff!

Enjoyed the atmosphere and the piano playing by Doreen. Friendly service. Nice selection of classic and contemporary cocktails. Seafood pasta was outstanding. Steaks and prime rib were tasty, but could of been warmer as could the baked potato. Will go back.

Everything we ordered was fantastic. I had the broiled walleye and my husband had a filet with a brandy sauce. Filet was cooked perfectly. All the sides (baked potato was fantastic!) were delicious. The atmosphere was nice and just as you think a super club should feel. Piano player was a great addition. The ONLY thing that wasn’t positive was when we first walked in the door. When we walked in the hostess immediately said “hope you have a reservation cause we’re booked tonight”. We did have a reservation but it was just a rude way to be welcomed in. From that point on our dinner was great.

We didn't have a reservation, but the hostess seated us at a high table near the bar and close to the piano player. The atmosphere was great. People were out and having fun. Our waitress was over booked, but did a fantastic job of making sure we were taken care of. The food was really good, didn't take to long inspite of a full house. We have been avoiding going to restaurants as of late, bit we will be going back to Indian Head Supper Club.

I took my daughter there for the first time last night. I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years and I was very impressed. Steak and walleye was perfectly done and what a great historical building. Our waitress Heather was spot on even though you could see she was very busy. I only wish I lived closer so I could frequent more often. Thank you to Heather and all the staff for a spectacular experience.

I have to many good things to list, my only suggestion would be to put warmers under the au jus, med rare prime is not all that warm to begin with, its nice to dip it in hot au jus. Otherwise perfection !!

I expected a $28 steak to taste better. There was a lot of fat on the $35 prime rib. Not much seasoning on it either, so it was pretty blah. The service was not good at all. Our waitress never came back to see if we wanted more drinks. Another gal was filling water glasses and never seemed to make it to our end of the table. I understand a 25% gratuity is automatically added on for parties of 8 or more, but this waitress didn't deserve that kind of a tip. This was a huge disappointment for being a small supper club.

Just not worth what it costs in my opinion. I ordered a drink and got just a straight plain on the rocks vodka with no mix. The food was ok but not worth the price, and for being a supper club it didn't have anything special to bring me back for more than one visit. We were there for my birthday and we couldn't even get a decent view and although my husband told the waitress numerous times it was my birthday, she never offered any specials for the occasion.

My husband and I went on 1/2/21 to celebrate our anniversary, absolutely everything about our experience was wonderful. Our server Heather was phenomenal and the bar tender on duty made our drinks extraordinarily fast and perfect. The chefs working that night cooked our steak and prime rib to perfection, all around a wonderful experience. I have lived in this area for 16 years and am sorely disappointed that it took us this long to visit this gem of a restaurant.
