The best I can say is the rooms were clean, otherwise the place is rundown, and the pictures you see on their website are not a good example of what the place and rooms (at least mine) actually looks like. I don't think most of place has been updated for at least 20 years. If you don't plan on hanging out there, like if you are up there for fishing like I was it may be worth the $55 for the room. The restaurant bar attached to the inn is closed. The good news is down on Rt 21 there is a good family restaurant called 2 Brothers which has very good, cheap, simple food.

3/2025: Place is dirty and run down. Restaurant/bar is permanently closed and has been for a LONG time, no complimentary breakfast and the list goes on. My wife and I checked in and the chair and bedding in the room HAD ALL KINDS OF STAINS. We called the person running the place, told him we were leaving and wanted a refund. He in turn told us that we can get the refund thru Booking.com. Guess what....nothing but a lie. A representative of Booking.com even called The Pines Inn, talked to him and HE REFUSED TO REFUND. We decided to file a civil lawsuit. Do yourself a favor....spend $20 more and go somewhere clean!!!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE! What a DUMP. We should've realized we were in trouble when he handed us an actual key to the room. The room stunk like old linens. Linens were washed but gray and towels felt like a brillo pad. Beds were a thin mattress over a wire framed box spring and hard, pillows were small and hard. Lighting was flourescent bulbs that took 10 minutes to warm up & get bright. The FREE breakfast, HA,HA, it was 2 containers of dry cereal with no milk in sight and the coffee had been reheated so much it was like tar. We booked 2 nights through Expedia which was a mistake because we left after 1 night with no refund available

My husband and I just enjoyed a weekend in central Wisconsin, hiking in the Necedah National Wildlife Refuge and on the Ice Age Trail. We were happy to find a great little motel to relax our weary bones after nearly 12 miles of hiking. Inn of the Pines fit our needs: great price, clean room with a jacuzzi tub, great location near our hikes, great restaurant attached (with Friday fish special that was excellent!) The owner was incredibly welcoming and friendly. We will return again and recommend to others. Tell him the "birthday lady" recommended that you stay there.

This place is quirky, attached to a bar.. but it was cool... definitely different, I didn't go to the bar but there was a crowd there. I wouldn't have known unless I walked by the door to grab something out of my car.
Walls are a little thin so if you're going there to bang someone turn the TV up maybe. Room was clean... older building so don't act like you're at a Hilton. The man who was working was very polite and friendly. Overall you can't beat it for the price I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.

Just gross. There was a stink bug in our room on the drapes. The place smelled funky. The toilets are super small and very low to the floor. The breakfast was embarrassing. Absolutely nothing in the 2 vending machines next to the front desk. There is nobody at the front desk, you have to call a number for them to come out. No incidental charge. Regular keys, not cards. $20 fee if you didn't return them.

I moved away from the area as a kid, over the last year I've come down many times to visit friends and family and always stop in and stay. The owners of the hotel are extremely friendly and treat me like family each stay. I'm always nervous about traveling alone and having a room to myself, but feel safe here. The place is an older place, but well kept up for the area and the owners are very accomadating. The restaurant attached has amazing food and hospitality, and I always enjoy coming here. Every time I come this way, I'll stop here to stay.

They were booked up, my boyfriend and I and my parents go the last 2 vacant rooms for the night. We were in Nekoosa for the day to attend my sister's wedding, so we didn't arrive until after 8 pm that night. Although the rooms were tidy, the rooms we were given looked nothing at all like the pictures of the rooms they have on their website, so we were a bit taken aback when we entered ours, but as I said, the rooms were clean as well as the sheets (always check the bed covers). The bed itself was like sleeping on a rock, much too firm with no give at all, and the pillows were pretty flat and hard as well, breakfast that was offered, like most places were a couple different cereals, Otis Spunkmeyer muffins and coffee. The desk staff that night was a nice man that got me an extra pillow and brought it to our room. There is a restaurant on site, but it doesn't open until 4 pm and we didn't check it out since we had previously eaten, although my parents eat there with my sister when they go up to visit her. All in all, it's a nice place, it could use some updating of the rooms but not a bad place to stay for a night.

This hotel is an absolute dive. It smells terrible, is very run down, and anything but clean. My 3-year-old found a vape by the bed in our room, shortly after check-in. To me that is an indication that it wasn't cleaned properly. It is also very upsetting because no one wants their child to get nicotine poisoning. Additionally, on the night that we stayed, the power went out and there was no running water, and of course no breakfast. In the morning, the manager said that he would provide a partial refund, but after several phone calls over 2 weeks, that never happened. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

I absolutely loved our stay and Jay at the front desk was an awesome guy. Our room had a hot tub and after long days ice fishing it was an unbelievable way to spend New Years. I was disappointed with the connect restaurant/bar. Beware we planned our stay according to our plans (New Years). We wanted a place to celebrate and not have to drive. The bar closed for “locals only” New Year’s Eve and did not have anything posted about being closed for anything except New Year’s Day. (To be expected) We were glad we asked if the restaurant and hotel had the same owner at dinner because they are not the same owner. We did not feel they welcome us (outsiders) as their mission statement states on their SEPARATE website. We WILL be going back to this hotel but will probably find other food and entertainment in the area. We spent our midnight toast 2023 using the Orange Juice we got for the next morning. Thank You -Jay for your impeccable service and bright personality you are a great guy and I love you and your wife.

Continental breakfast was generic type fruit loops cereal. Muffins that were oily and hard to swallow. Milk and coffee (milk was ok). Their website says daily housekeeping. BS!!! I was there 3 nights in room 112 and housekeeping NEVER came through!!! I had to step out with the 2 tiny waste baskets to dump out elsewhere. One of the lamps had a bent push button switch that was bent so I had to unplug it at night. The water pressure of the shower was minimal. The beds are stiff.

This place is the most unprofessional place I’ve ever had the displeasure of attempting to stay at. The are never in the office they answer the phone in the most unprofessional way imaginable, should have been my first clue, that’s on me though. They take a reservation take a credit card name the usual. Get there after a 4 hour ride on a holiday weekend. The same guy that does everything at the worst motel ever says he has no reservation. And of course there booked up. Make reservations at your own risk. I certainly wouldn’t trust them. Good luck if you do God only knows what else is going on in there. Terrible! 0 stars really!

I was quoted 51 plus tax for the stay. When I arrived it was 75 plus tax. The vending machine had very old and melted candy in it. The bed was the most uncomfortable in my life! The only saving grace to this motel was the restaurant that is attached called Antonio’s. The “continental” breakfast was an urn of nasty coffee and 2 things of cold cereal. I was super excited to stay until I got there to check in.

Well the Inn of the Pines was very clean but as I think others have stated the walls are paper thin. I went with some coworkers and one of them was the room right next to me. He farted, and it was loud enough I had to look around and make sure he wasn't in my room! I was honestly surprised I could not smell it through the paper thin walls! In addition, I think I was able to do a cursory diagnosis that my coworker has a snoring problem😁.

Awful don’t ever come here. It looks neat but everything is disgusting, falsely advertised. Paid for the room, walked in and it smelled so weird. A mix of old sheets and mold/ wetness. Didn’t even touch anything. Asked for a refund and they wouldn’t even give us half of it. Everything about this place is out of date, only booked this place because it was close to a wedding we were attending. I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like if the rooms look so disgusting. NOT very pet friendly. This place also tries to screw you with adding on fees and extra taxes!!! Avoid it like the plague!! Also two pictures of what they call a breakfast! Dry cereal and honey buns and coffee wonderful, NOT. I would have hoped for a waffle or yogurt, juice nothing.

The restaurant serves a delicious meal. We were in a room next to the bar and enjoyed banging, loud conversations, and dog barking until midnight. The inn is lacking. The surfaces were sticky, there was a funky smell in the room, the hot water took forever to work then became scalding, and the lighting is either too bright or too dim. Breakfast was sad- cold cereal, a few packaged breakfast breads, and one pot of coffee with milk in the fridge. My husband and I both woke up sore from the old bed.

Nasty run down motel, room smelled, pillows were flat and bed uncomfortable, bathroom shower curtain smelled very musty, not a person at check in had to pick up phone and a woman appeared a few minutes later. We drove into town and picked up a few air freshners for the room.

Love their Friday nite fish fry. Every day there is a chefs special. Those are meals that highlight the culinary expertise and presentation of the owner chef! Service is great!

An unexpected and exceptionally busy Tuesday. Got there about 5 ish. Beat a lot of the crowd but still took an hour for food. The waitress was VERY good. Tried to be as attentive as she could be with a LOT of big tables. After anout an hour we did see more help arrive. One had to serve the food with her infant strapped to her chest. Good for you Mom, what has to be done, has to be done.
Chicken parm was reported as very nice and a goodly amount. Chicken alfredo was same. I had a rib eye sandwich. Meat was super good, not burned. But au jus was just....eh. Not enough flavor. 2 of us had burgers. 1 very over done and dry. The other ok. Prices were a bit higher than we liked. All in all I would give this another try. Maybe on a slower night? We all know, everyone is short staffed.

Nice accommodations for up north. Room, beds and carpet were clean. A clean room and hot water is all we look for; that was met! Staff very friendly. Restaurant that is on site is great! Great menu and great staff. We'll be back.
