Nicely refurbished Grain Mill that serves up pizza, paninis, and homemade gelato! 2 taps for beer, 1 for root beer and selection of bottled and canned alcololic and non alcoholic beverages, Met the owner who showed us how things work. Also saw the first public toilet in Iola! They are also a venue for private parties

I came with some friends. We appreciated the building's history, but were left underwhelmed by the paninis. They were small, under-grilled and not really pressed. Three service was slow and somewhere in the shuffle, 2 of the orders came out quickly and 2 orders were more than 20 minutes behind. An apology was issued for the delay and confusion.

Don't get the non-dairy limon gelato. It was only ok and vaguely tasted of chemical lemon flavoring. Do try the others, which were delicious according to my friends.

For those curious, yes you order at a counter and bus your own table.

If you are hungry, don't go here. We thought we accidentally ordered from the kids menu? The portions were tiny, the chips were crushed, pickle was nothing but a small spear, rueben was so thin and dry. Overpriced for the tiny amount you get. Also, you have to buss your own table? And no cups or ice, no napkins. We didn't get Gelato because the sizes were ridiculously small. We won't be going back.

The food was delicious. My salad was earthy with a delightful array of dressings. And my sandwich was perfect and just enough for me. The service was acceptable but we had to help her along. I enjoyed looking at the history and the old building.

Has many things to offer. Ordered Pizza this time and it was delicious. Great atmosphere in the mill area dining room. Get a table facing the lake. The breeze made our experience comfortable. Going to try thier espresso shake next. Anything with espresso needs to be experienced.

Ice cream is very good. Service was not so much. Person who served me needed way more training then they had received in how to make an ice cream cone. For what I paid for it it was not worth it in the end.

If you're going there for gelato, it's incredible. Anything else is okay. During October the Junior class of the High School turns it into a haunted house. The haunted house and gelato are highly recommended.

Attended a wedding here, great atmosphere! The food was catered in but I did try the gellato and cookies, they were very good. The staff was very cheerful and fast. The mill itself was awesome. The grate in the floor where you can watch the water flow through was a great touch. Trying to figure out what some of the equipment on the walls and that the tables were made out of was fun. Would recommend.

The Millstone is a wonderful relaxing place to stop for a sandwich or gelato in Iola. The food is fresh and delicious. We had a cup their White chili, very good & sandwiches which came with a side. for sides we had the potato salad - great too. The old mill is full of history. you can eat in or outside. The grounds are nice including pretty perennials. We noticed they did have events held there also.
Try the gelato- super and made fresh right there.

Perfect lunch-sized portions of really fresh-tasting food. Went with my parents and kids ( kids ages 7, 10, 12) around 1pm on a Monday in July. We ordered a variety of sandwiches and salads, and everyone loved their food. We sat upstairs, where the view and the breeze were perfect. Our waitress was sweet and quick, especially since the kitchen was downstairs. Of course, we had to have dessert! Kids got gelato and I had a cappuccino. The the gelato got rave reviews, especially the goat cheese caramel cashew. The capp was the best one I've had in a long time. Overall great way to end our long summer weekend.

There's always new and interesting flavors of Gelato at the Mill. I've visited on many occasions and found flavors like Mint Julep, Turmeric Ginger, Hazelnut Mocha, Mandarin Orange, Figs and Dates, Taro Root, Texas Mango, and Moscow Mule just to name a few. My husband and I always enjoy our visits to the rustic charm of this converted mill. The outdoor seating is nice on days with good weather.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Terrific atmosphere. Food is great, plus they have local microbrews on tap. Best of all is their homemade gellato, which is a must if you're coming to Iola. Unfortunately The Millstone is only open seasonally, so it's closed between Halloween and early Spring.
