First, you need to know that you should expect a long wait. We thought we got there early enough that we might only wait an hour or so, but on a Wednesday evening in October, we got there about 4 and waited a full 2 hours and the parking lot was filling up quickly. (I can’t imagine this place during peak season ) Finding a seat in an indoor bar was challenging. However, the outdoor bars also have heaters. We probably could have found a seat quicker out there. Some people brought cards and dice (or bought them in the gift shop) to pass the time. This venue has planned for this and offers many hangout places to socialize while waiting.

The views are beautiful as is the venue. The restaurant was rather noisy. The bartenders and hostess were cordial and patient with answering questions. Our server was efficient, but not cordial; a bit rushed, but not rude.

The food - we had no complaints. We shared a prime rib and lobster tail dinner for 2. The servings were generous. I really liked the sweet potato casserole; it was flavorful and not too sweet. My husband kept commenting about how good both the prime rib and lobster were.

It’s definitely a destination place and I’m glad we went. If we go again when we’re at the Dells, I think I would enjoy it better, because I would know better what to expect.

Despite waiting 2 hrs ( we arrived around 3:45 pm on a Thursday), the food was worth the price and the wait. The service was exceptional. The place is noisy because of lots of self-important people think they need to yell louder than the other people. This place needs to offer an optional Get Smart Cone of Silence for the people that would like to enjoy their meal.

The #1 supper club in Wisconsin was a must for us! We had to see the hype. Everyone we talked to ahead of time said, be prepare to wait!! We checked and put our name on the list about 3:30pm and were told that it would be about a 4 hour wait, but there were grounds and 4 different bars to grab drinks and appetizers at.

We made our way to the Tomahawk Bar first, where we ordered a round of Old Fashioneds and a couple apps to help hold us over. The drinks were ready quick and the appetizers took about 20 minutes to come out. We managed to find a table just outside of the bar area and listen to the live music. While we waited we tried out the other bars and continued to be in awe of the amount of people who had the same idea as us!

About three and a half hours later, our table was finally ready and we were seated. We ordered some French onion soup, perfectly cooked steaks, and a few desserts, making the long wait absolutely worth it! The service was excellent and the food was delicious.

As we were walking out, we noticed the crowd had significantly reduced. If you showed up later in the evening, your wait time would probably be closer to thirty minutes. Once they got things moving, tables were turning over pretty quickly.

Definitely a "must-do" at least once. I'm not sure I could handle that kind of wait often, but honestly, part of the experience was the wait, chatting, laughing, and bonding with others in the same situation. Everyone was in good spirits, and there were cheers all around when tables were finally called!

So many good words for this place.. Beautiful scenery, amazing drinks, best old fashioned I have ever had. Amazingly good food. Note to self though you are going to want to get to this place well before they open. There is a semi long to longgg wait to eat (this is not an exaggeration) Theyll serve appetizers at the bar. This place is something to experience at least once if your not a fan of waiting to long to eat.

Fun experience, plan to wait for hours though! The old fashioned’s are good but not very strong. I think this is intentional since you will end up drinking a dozen while waiting for your table. Cool setting for a nice meal as long as you like crowded venues

All about the location and views, as well as the decor. I would go for a drink and go elsewhere for dinner. Our main courses arrived while we were still eating salad. The food seemed to have been prepared long before and reheated. No better than a hotel buffet; our chicken Cordon Bleu contained generic cheese and a bland sauce. Overpriced at 32.99. Even inside the bar, the drinks menu has no prices. I would not recommend it for dinner. It feels factory-like, with servers on a script. The next table over got seated just after us, so we heard the script twice. They try to sell you their house branded wine and anything other than a generic tossed salad is a 4.99 surcharge. I've had a lot of cordon bleu and it's usually coated in breadcrumbs and nicely crunchy. This felt like an institutional meal. Steaks at the next table were cooked wrong and the server said, 'Oh, I heard medium..." and blamed the customer instead of just offering to fix it. Defensiveness really has no place when it takes at least 90 mins to be seated and the meal costs at least $100. Avoid for dinner. It felt as blatantly commercial/cash-grabby to me as a Disneyland of the Northwoods.

The quality of the food has went down here. As locals we use to go often but only went twice this year because the first time we thought it must be an off night we went a second time a month later and nope it's just not as good. The meat cuts are not as good, both the ribeye and prime rib were disappointing . The chicken dishes are all dry and just tasteless. The apps are still good as are their desserts. I hope they bring the quality back up because we really like the owners and want the best for them. Dawn Manor just down the road is so much better and you never have to wait because they take reservations. The prime Rib at Dawn Manor is the best in all Wisconsin. And their chicken dish is never overcooked and absolutely delicious.

There is a lot to like about this place, but a few things keep it from a 5 star experience.

It was our first time here. We have been talking forever about dinner there, but it's a two hour drive from Milwaukee. So we ended up making it an overnight experience, and we’re glad that we did.

I don't have to say too much about the location, it's beautiful. The lake and the surrounding woods are very pretty. The leaves were just starting to turn, which made it even better.

Came with another couple, got there around 5 p.m., and was told there would be a 2 to 2.5 hour wait. No worries, we were prepared for that (happiness is all about setting the correct expectations). We found a spot at one of the six bars and had a cocktail. Then went down to the lake and listened to the live music performed by a solo guitarist. He was "okay."

They give you a little pager that buzzes when your table is ready. Ours went off around 7:00. Got a nice table looking out over the lake. The sun was mostly down, so not as nice as before. Our server got to us right away, set us up with waters and menus, and went through the specials. She was efficient but not overly friendly. We ordered drinks and had some cheese spread and breadsticks to munch on. The dining room was pretty full, and there was a large table of eight people next to us. They were having a great time, and at times were very loud, enough to be a bit distracting.

Drinks came pretty quick, and my Brandy Old Fashioned Sweet was traditional and very good. We ordered dinner consisting of the Ribeye, New York Strip, Rack of Lamb, and Prime Rib/Shrimp Combo. While we waited, we got a basket of warm rolls. Those were very tasty. But they don't provide a relish tray (this is a supper club, right?).

It did not take very long for the food to come out. It was all the right temps and good sized portions. My lamb was done medium rare, just how I like it. My sweet potato mash was hot, with brown sugar and pecans. Although the lamb was good, it wasn't great. It could have been a bit more tender and flavorful. It was helped by the Port Wine Demi Glace, but excellent lamb can stand on its own. The rest of the table thought their entrees were good, but nobody was raving about them. All of the meats were a bit on the chewy side, and not as flavorful as you might expect from a Supper Club. There was enough left over to take some back with us.

We had seen the dessert tray, so we decided to each try something different: Brandy Alexander, Salted Caramel Crunch Cake, Chocolate Mousse, and Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake. My Salted Caramel Crunch Cake was overly salted (but I finished it). The Brandy Alexander was very good, hand mixed with nice chunks. The other two desserts were "okay."

I have to mention that the overall service was good but felt a bit rushed. We were out of there in about an hour. Our server was happy to take a few photos of us and did a good job with that.

Overall, it was a good experience, glad we did it, but probably not a spot that we would need to return to.

Awesome first experience! Started out with multiple Brandy old fashioned sweets. Next the tasty prime asparagus appetizer. Main meal of filet/prawn combo perfectly cooked medium rare. Finished with a caramel sea salt ice cream drink that went down amazingly with a full stomach. Service was impeccable...plenty of staff around and always busy.

The food is overrated. I had the pork chop and it came out raw. They re-fired and it was okay. Wife’s chicken Oscar didn’t have much flavor and the Bernese sauce tasted like a paste with no seasoning. Old fashioned cocktails were as good as other supper clubs in the area.

We went on a Friday around 7ish (late sept). Got a great parking spot. Checked out all the bars. Went back to the one we wanted got two bar seats together. Had amazing old fashioneds' (oddly the first was much better than the second) We ordered Prime Rib Asparagus Spear appetizer and people watched. Let me tell you that appetizer was one of the tastiest things I've ever introduced my taste buds to. The bar we chose overlooked a lake and we enjoyed the tail end of sunset. We enjoyed ourselves there so much we came back the next night at about 5:30 where we got almost as good parking only to find that Saturdays are, this weekend at least, waaay busier. We couldn't even get in the door. We were told the wait for a table was 4.5 hours! The bars were three deep packed and we considered ourselves lucky we came on Friday. We left. If you get the chance do go there. I hope you get a favorable wait and enjoy it as much as we did.

Yes there’s a long, long wait but it’s a great experience. While my party of 5 was waiting we sat at the outdoor bar sipping cocktails and sharing appetizers. Our conversation quickly led to include others. Our table was ready before the “new friends “ we made but noticed it was big enough for all so we asked them to join us and the fun continued. Ishnala is more than great food and great service. It is a great experience where you can meet new friends!

It’s as much an experience as it is a meal. Dinner was about a 30 minute wait so we walked around a bit, and were surprised by the fact there were 4 bars to chill at while waiting. The food was great as well. We got a filet mignon and a pork chop—both were on point. As were the deserts.

If you have trouble with hills or steps!! Forget it. Brought 84 yr old with a walker. Only ONE AREA(pow wow bar) that we could sit in for the FOUR hour wait. You must walk down a very steep trail to get there. Could only see the trees in the corner of the building. Kept asking hostess where we could go. There had to be some place else. She said no. That’s it. Now manager did come to table and advised they have a golf cart… AFTER SITTING IN BAR FOR FOUR HOURS. But golf cart access limited as well. Food was mediocre at best. So if you have any mobility issues, ask for golf cart but you will have very limited access. Our waitress was very nice. Extremely disappointed with hostess short blunt replies to my handicapped questions.

The wait times for a table are long. We were quoted 4 hours when arriving at 4:30. We knew this ahead of time and settled in for some wonderful cocktails at the beach. The bar also serves their appetizer menu which made for a nice time. By 6:30 the sun was setting and we had a nice walk around the bay. At 7:30, it was dark, we were hungry and the kids were loosing it. We ultimately bailed at 8:00 for another restaurant.

The wait is part of the experience, but be warned: even after 3.5 hours you may go home without being seated.

We drove up to Ishnala yesterday, 9/27, from Madison. It's been on our bucket list esp since we are not originally from Wisconsin. Anyway, sadly we got there at 4:15 and were told it was a 4 HOUR WAIT for dinner. At first, we thought we'd do it but as time went by we realized we simply couldn't pull it off (we can't drink that much alcohol and still drive home safely, lol). The atmosphere is so beautiful, and it was a perfect evening weather-wise. I don't know if it's like this often or if this was unusual (that long of a wait). We were expecting a 'few hour wait,' as per website...but 4? No. We tried to order appetizers to tide us over but our wait person, who was swamped, never came back for our order. They really need to have more wait staff on nights like this where people get there and end up not being able to do dinner. It would have been nice to at least have had an appetizer. The music was lovely, my husband said his old fashioned was delicious. The scenery is truly iconic. I'm just sad it didn't work out for us to have dinner and the full Ishnala experience. For this reason, I'm not sure we'll go back. They don't take reservations, so I didn't think to call and find out how 'swamped' they are. I would recommend that to anyone considering making a special trip there to at least try that before making the haul. My only other comment is to wear comfortable shoes/secure shoes cause you are going up and down some steep stone stairs to get around. I didn't anticipate that either.

Ishnala...my favorite few acres on the planet. No lie. Grew up coming here every summer since I was about 3, watched it grow into such an amazing experience without sacrificing any of the quality I've grown to love. Tonight our fifth generation Ishnala-patron has joined us! Even though we've moved away to NC, we are still drawn back for the Old Fashioneds, lake views, sunsets and sensational food. Thanks for remaining such an icon Ishnala! I want to be able to keep returning for unbelievable meals and family memories for the rest of my days...

We went again 9/25. What an amazing dining experience. We love going here on our wedding anniversary. Yes, you can wait hours for a table but it is a place where time slows, soft music plays in the background, the beauty of pine trees, natural sandstone rock cliffs and Mirror Lake abound and you spend quality time away from it all with your loved one(s). We enjoyed the signature Old Fashioned on the lower deck accessed by a flagstone staircase. We also ordered their delicious Prime Rib wrapped roasted asparagus spears and a round of the Wild Buffalo drinks as we happily reminisced about our last 39 years together. 2 short hours later our table was ready.
We were seated in the main dining areas top row facing the lake. We were quickly attended to by a sweet server with a cracker breadstick basket with cheese dip and our orders taken. Our salads arrived with a bread basket containing crusty rolls and a sweet cinnamon roll., We ordered a regular fresh greens and wedge salads. The wedge was delicious with mild blue cheese crumbles and bacon bites.
Our entrees came, perfectly cooked medium Prime Rib with aujous and fall off the bone BBQ ribs. Both had augraten potatoes for sides. All were delicious and plentiful. The server was polite, efficient and attentive without making us feel rushed
After having half of our food packed up with some extra rolls we made our way down to the beach to enjoy one more Wild Buffalo as the sun set over the lake. A perfect evening.

The bartender was very friendly and the view of the lake was SO beautiful! We were seated next to a window overlooking the lake so we were able to watch the sun setting over the lake while we enjoyed our meal. Very romantic! We knew coming in that there was going to be a wait. We got there at 5pm on a Saturday, lucked out with a spot in the parking lot instead of the overflow lot. Got to the host and we were quoted 4.5 hours. Ended up waiting about 3.5 hours. But honestly? We barely noticed. There’s plenty to do! We grabbed a brandy old fashioned, listened to live music, hung out at the beach, wandered the property, and just spent time with each other. You could absolutely get apps if you’re hungry, but we had a late lunch so we didn’t mind.

I want to point out that they are efficient there. We sat just before 9pm and we were probably out by 10pm. Food comes out quick and hot. I really liked it! We would definitely come back.

We have been coming to Ishnala for the past five years from Rhode Island.

We enjoy the laid-back, relaxing atmosphere of their outdoor bars. Their live music is wonderful!

However, the atmosphere in the main dinning area is quite different. When asked for more time with appetizers and salads and for main courses to be staggered they were unable to be flexible and accommodate our request. We felt incredibly rushed for an establishment that prides themselves as a 'supper club'.

We tend to spend hours and a substantial amount of money at Ishnala as we do this once a year. After our most recent visit, I do not think we will be back. I wish their customers were treated as such rather than just another number on their Old Fashioned board.

Food was decent (although something didn’t sit right with my stomach). However neither of our steaks were cooked to order, both came undercooked from medium.

The scenery is pretty but I don’t think that it makes up for having a 3 hour wait and paying $300+.

It’s very clear that the wait is the point. They want you ordering drinks for multiple hours, but the problem is you’re then not hungry by the time you actually sit down there.

I think that you can have a better supper club experience that is better food, less expensive, and doesn’t require waiting for 3 hours.

Worth the money at least once in a lifetime
I have been on cruises, but I have never been treated so well.
Our waitress helped us order. She was able to explain exactly what was on the menu and gave recommendations based on what we told here we liked.
The portions were huge. We ate two meals from our leftovers. The food was perfect on arrival and tasted insane. I don't know where the cheifs learned to spice food, but it was one of a kind fair. I had beef my wife chicken and both were awesome.
The atmosphere was wisconsin lodge style. It felt fun and lighthearted but kind of regal. Our waitress came back to our table often and felt like a friendly host checking on friends.
Already planned to go back.

What can I say about this place that already hasn't been said? Ive grown up in Wisconsin my entire life and somehow never visited here until this past weekend. We went for some old fashioneds ( they keep a count by the front door and it was almost 77k old fashioneds served since April and the bartender said they usually surpass 100k by end of October when they close for the season) after golf on the first day of our Dells golf trip. Sat at the inside bar and it's hard to find a better view overlooking Mirror Lake. They also have 1 or 2 outside bars that had live music. Bartender was great, we didnt eat but I guarantee the food is inline with the service and atmosphere. Already planning our next fall golf trip and Ishnala will definitely be included.

We sat outside at the beach / bar area and watched a waitress address every other customer for drinks but us. Tried for her attention but was unsuccessful. I love steak but no place is worth 4.5 hour wait IMO. The hostess told us our wait time with such sarcastic cheerfulness too. Beautiful area and they really find every way to take in your cash from keychains to their house alcohol. I'll not be going back soon, who has the time to waste? $25 for two ultra sweet old fashioneds. Don't believe the hype, they are FAR from the best old fashioneds in the state.

I think this is a beautiful lively spot for good drinks and appetizers. But we went on a Saturday and there was a 4-6 hour wait!!! We waited about 4 hours and the food was honestly just okay. Dinner was not worth the wait in my opinion.

Very expensive place! We were there at 3:30 and still waited 2 hours. No wonder people are ordering appetizers, because of the wait. Drinks are very expensive. Don't need to go there again. Was never offered deserrt. Can only imagine those prices.

We visited and ate here in August to celebrate our 57th anniversary; we actually planned a long weekend around eating at Isnala. The location is beautiful and we knew we would probably wait and that part was fine. We had a table for two at a window looking onto the property which I was thrilled about but the problem was the main bar was behind me and very noisy. We had to keep asking the server to repeat some information. There was no relish tray which is typical of supper clubs in WI but we had a small scoop of beer cheese with packaged bread sticks on the table. We ordered our meal. My husband's duck was very nice and he did enjoy it. I ordered the lobster tail; I was surprised to see it darkened on the top which I presumed was charring so began to eat it. (I wanted to question it but she was nowhere in the area.) The flavor was different in the darkest area. I couldn't see the server altho she appeared after awhile quickly and without thinking quick enough I agreed the food was ok. However, we were not happy with the bill; we had $15 in upcharges that we were unaware of - $10 for 2 Caesar salads (instead of tossed salad) and $5 for asparagus. Now at the top of the menu we knew we were to receive a tossed salad, choice of potato or vegetable. We were offered the Caesar but didn't hear mention of an upcharge. The same for the vegetable - an upcharge for my choice of asparagus with no mention by the server. Please note that at the very bottom of one page is reference to these upcharges. We are very happy to pay for what we want but with no prior mention by the server, we were not happy. Plus I found out the "charring on my lobster" was paprika and there was no mention of seasoning in the menu. Sorry, but that is our story.

Went here for dinner over the weekend. Wait time wasn't too bad (quoted an hour and 15 minutes but it was only 45). Walked around and listened to music and enjoyed the surroundings. Food was really good (had the Chicken Oscar) and the view of Mirror Lake was terrific. Ishnala was part of a really nice September getaway to the Dells.

Nice little restaurant buried in the woods around the Wisconsin Dells. They don't take reservations so either show up early or expect a long wait. While you wait, there are some bars and outdoor areas to explore to kill the time. The food was good and the service was prompt. The restaurant has nice views of the river.

I arrived and was told there would be a one hour fifteen minute wait. I was fine with that and took the 'buzzer' unit. I watched live entertainment, visited the gift shop. Time passed, no buzzing yet. I went to the restroom and the young lady said thanks for visiting. I stated that I was waiting and haven't eaten yet. She asked if I wanted to see where I was on the list and I declined because it really did not matter, feeling when it was my turn I'd be buzzed. Now after an hour and a half later total, I was concerned. I went back and now asked where I was on the list. This time the manager guy said that I was buzzed 25 minutes ago. Odd, there was no buzzing at all. He asked where I was....? This threw me off as I was now compelled to Explain my whereabouts and justify my wonderings around the facility. This inquiry threw me off and felt accusatory in nature. It did not go well for me. I was then seated about ten minutes later. Thursday 9/4/25 6:15 arrival time. seated about 8pm. The manager guy also stated that I couldn't keep the buzzer in my pocket. Like, really, I'm supposed to keep the buzzer in my hand for over an hour. How ridiculous a statement.

Plan on getting there early, we got there 45 minutes after opening and there was a hour and half - 2 hour wait. Which of you have evening plans or tickets do do something else plan accordingly. We sat on the beach and ordered a few Wisconsin old fashioned's, these are a family favorite! We also ordered a few appetizers to hold us over for the wait. We ended up waiting a 1:45 until we were seated and that time flew by. Dinner and the view were both amazing. The filet was so tender and delicious with a side of au gratin potatoes was perfect. The sweet potato bake was also delicious, almost like having dessert along with dinner. A very nice touch to the dinner rolls were the cinnamon rolls in the same basket, such a treat! All in all, a very good experience, will be coming back for years to come. Also don't mind helping to get the total number of old fashioneds sold number a little higher! :)

Cool spot by the lake with a couple of area to hang out and drink while waiting for your table. 3 and 1/2 hrs wait for us coming for labor day weekend and the food was good at best. I’d recommend to come hangout/check the place for drinks and then go somewhere to eat. Also, I noticed 80% of staff were foreigners? Is it because the area is seasonal? If you have a time limit on a table ..list it, otherwise leave us alone so we can finish our meal and drink. Great food and atmosphere, but after waiting as long as we did for a table, it soured our experience to feel so rushed by our server and told "we need the table" as we were finishing our drinks. If we had been given a time limit for seating prior to service, that would have been fine and we would have responded accordingly. But that's not what happened, and it's hard to trust how seriously they take hospitality when you're treated as such.

Our recent visit to this supper club, which we had anticipated with great enthusiasm, proved to be an exceptional experience.

The approach to the venue, including the drive, pathways, and concealed elements, significantly enhanced the entrance's aesthetic appeal.

We arrived early, anticipating potential wait times of up to two hours, as we had been informed.

The hosts provided a warm welcome and were highly accommodating, orienting us to the location of the four bars and informing us of the pager's extended range.

We then explored the outdoor bar, where we enjoyed Ishnala Brandy Old Fashioneds, which were of exceptional quality.

We were subsequently seated in the main dining area, which offered a picturesque view of Mirror Lake.

Our server provided attentive and efficient service, ensuring our needs were consistently met.

I selected the Prime Rib and Lobster, while my husband opted for the Filet Mignon; both dishes were prepared to perfection.

The spinach salad with hot bacon dressing was also a highlight of our meal.

The overall ambiance, service, and cuisine justified the anticipation and any potential wait time.

Ishnala was the best dining experience I have ever had. From the moment we entered and sat at the bar with a great view of the water, where I was able to enjoy their famous Old Fashioned. The food was amazing, made even better by the view of the water from our table, and the high level of service. Then it was topped off by Bob, the owner, stopping by the table to give us a signed copy of the Wisconsin Supper Club table, that was a great act of class.

My family and I have been going to Ishnala for years. While their no reservation policy has always been frustrating and their food subpar, the view and general ambiance have kept us coming back, that will no longer be the case after tonight. I have never felt so mistreated at a restaurant. Shame on the entire management staff including the owner, Bob Prosser. My husband was to meet my mother and I for dinner however he was delayed because of a bad accident on I94. When checking in we were informed it would be a 2-2 1/2 hour wait. I told the hostess that my husband would be joining us and she asked is he was there yet to which I replied not yet. She then stated that she couldn’t count him in our party unless he was there. Frustrated by the situation I begrudgingly took the pager looking around noticing there were a number of parties or two seated at four tops assuming that if my mother and I were seated at a four top we would have my husband join but if we weren’t that he could just eat at the bar. When my husband arrived shortly thereafter, he went to ask the hostess if it looked like we might be getting a four top so that he could join. The hostess stated if he wanted to join us we’d have to go back to the bottom of the waiting list. Sensing our frustration as my husband came back to the bar, the bartenders informed us that they always tell their customers who are waiting on other guests to tell the host staff that those people are just parking the car to avoid this. While I appreciated their candor, this frustrated me even more. My husband then went to ask for a manager to see if there was anything he might be able to do which is when he also ran into owner, Bob Prosser. Shortly after my husband began to talk to the two of them, Bob walked away and over to the bar where my mom and I still sat. Bob then began to tell two patrons next to us how there was a situation and that he left the manager to “handle the guy”. Unable to hold my tongue any longer I told him that “that guy” was my husband and asked why they were unwilling to help us in any way, loyal customers that had been coming for years. He began to provide some ridiculous excuse and when I asked why it would be a problem when almost every party or two in the restaurant was seated at a four top, he did something I still can’t believe. He made a face, turned away as I was speaking and walked/almost ran away. Never once did my husband or I raise our voice or use any profanity and we certainly didn’t deserve to be treated the way we were by an owner and management that clearly have no regard for customer service. It is clear we were nothing more than a number to them and I suppose if you’re filling your restaurant every night, I can almost understand where you might have that heir about you however as someone who has been in the customer service industry for over 25 years I can’t fathom how you could run a business that way. However when I reflect back on all the times we’ve dined at Ishnala and all the times we’ve opted not to because of 4-5 hour waits I understand it. They never immediately seat you even when you arrive prior to opening. They want you to wait at minimum an hour to be sat (usually 2-3) so people have no choice but to sit at one or their many bars and wrack up an additional tab that they likely would not have if they would have just been sat at their table. Then when they finally are sat their treated to luke warm subpar food. It also bears mentioning that when my husband was talking to the manager he asked him if we were seated at a four top if he could not have just joined us to which the manager responded “no I wouldn’t have allowed that”. That means they would have knowingly turned away business from empty seats all because of their need to feel powerful in some way and that if we would have just lied like the bartenders suggested we do the next time we would have been fine. However, there will never be a next time. We left, went to Dawn Manor for the first time, had an incredible experience with significantly better food than Ishnala.

Grounds and scenery are nice, food was terrible. Still sick after eating there. Beautiful rustic setting on a small lake, perfect for a special night out. Be ready for lots of steps and a long wait since they do not take reservations. The bars are busy with people waiting to be seated. There is plenty of seating, but unless you arrive early it fills up fast. Turnover is fairly quick if you are patient.

Service is excellent and very attentive. Food and drinks are pricey but in line with other fine dining in the Dells. I had the seafood plate with scallops, shrimp, salmon, and lobster tail, while others ordered steaks and scallops. Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted wonderful.

Old Fashioneds are their specialty and worth it. Four drinks came to $50 plus tip, and they were outstanding.

Overall, a great spot for adults to enjoy a special occasion. Well worth the wait.

Amended 8/22 - Still incredibly busy with LONG (2-3 hour) wait to get a table. I had shrimp cocktail at the bar which was dry and rubbery. Wait staff all seem to not speak English as their first language and with the super loud dining room, led to a real communication issue. Food is overpriced as I reported last time.

Would have been 5 star’s but the wait was way long (2 hours) and the food was adequate. At these prices, that should be outstanding. Didn’t feel any part of a traditional Wisconsin supper club but, hey, it’s the Dells so what should I expect?

EXTREMELY rude and abusive manager. We were told the wait would be an hour to 1.5 hours when we first checked in. It was getting close to two hours and we started wondering what was going on as we saw people coming into the bar and leaving to the point it was almost empty. I thought maybe our beeper wasn't working. Went to the desk to check. I spoke to a man who was now at there.
I said we were told and hour to hour and a half and I was wondering if our beeper was working or we somehow missed it going off. He asked for the beeper number and was very brusk when I took too long finding it. I don't make a habit of exploring the exterior of beepers and have never needed to. After he found us on the list I was told by the manager that our wait was written in the book as 2 hours,we would be seated in 2 hours like everyone else, and they would never tell anyone that they would have an hour and a half wait. I replied it was what I was told and he said I do this every day and you were not told that. He was very snotty. I went back down to the bar, very irritated with his behavior and told the group I was with. I couldn't believe how rude he was. One of the bar tenders asked what he looked like and then described his attire. He said it was the manager and that was how he regularly behaved and he was sorry. We decided to make reservations elsewhere, which was not an easy decision after waiting almost 2 hours and driving over an hour to get there, but who wants to give business to such a place? Just then our beeper went off. We went to the front desk, I handed the beeper to the manager, told him we wouldn't be needing a table, we made reservations elsewhere, and that he was probably the rudest man I had ever met. As we left one of our party heard him call me a drunk, which was ridiculous and again rude and childish. In two hours I had one old fashion, a diet sprite, and a shared appetizer. This was one couple's favorite place to go, which is why we drove over an hour from La Crosse to go there. One gentleman in our group (who has the mildest of temperments and whom I've never heard speak ill of anyone ) told the manager that they would never be coming back. This was the first time I'd seen him angry and disgusted.
I give it 2 stars as the bar staff were very friendly and efficient, especially taking into account the large amount of people waiting in the bar area. The artichoke dip wasn't bad and the bread was very good (appetizer we ordered in the bar as we had gotten very hungry during the wait).
When at the restaurant we eventually dined at we told the hostess and the chef (who visited everyone's table to check on their meals) what had happened and were told they got a lot of people from Ishnala, because of the rudeness there. After being a waitress myself from age 15 through college, I appreciate good waitstaff and have no time for nasty people. As a business owner, I would can that manager in a split second. I know good employees are hard to find, but a bad employee drags the whole business down. If he treats paying customers who respectfully inquire about their table in such a manner, I'm sure he's even more abusive to the staff. I feel for them.
