I really did want to enjoy this establishment, since it is close by and initially appeared charming. The building itself was cute. I liked all the silly pictures and figurines. Everything looked cluttered but not necessarily dirty.

The first time I went, there was only one other customer sitting down but I was not greeted or acknowledged by the woman behind the counter. I was the one who initiated saying hello. This put me off slightly but I figured they could be having an off day, it happens. Placed my order, they don't take payment directly after ordering which I thought was funky, and it made for a weird system when someone else came up to order, employee said my drink was ready, and the other customer had to awkwardly scooch over while I paid and grabbed my drink.

Left and made my way out, the drink was okay. It wasn't horrible but you can tell when they put way too much milk. I got a matcha latte, quality of the matcha powder was low but I I didn't necessarily mind, it tasted fine to me. For the price I paid (around $4) I was okay with the drink I received.

I stopped by again for my second visit and this experience really let me down.

There were three other customers this time, one had finished up ordering and sat down as I made my way in. There were two woman at the counter, one of which was the same who serviced me last time. Once again, I was not greeted. Both employees were in conversation with the other customers, which is fine, I don't mind if you finish up, but a simple "Be with you in one moment" would have really be beneficial. I stood there for about 2 minutes before I was even acknowledged, even after making eye contact with both employees multiple times.

I was in the process of standing by the register when I felt something wet bump my leg and looked down to see a dog just wandering around. I had previously seen a sign that stated this establishment allowed leash dogs, which I don't believe is actually legal, although I may be wrong. I did find this on the Wisconsin Restaurant Association page: " Live animals are not allowed in the interior portions of the FOOD ESTABLISHMENT".

The dog was licking whip cream out of a ceramic bowl dish and got the whip cream on my leg when it came up to me. At this point I was finally able to order, didn't receive any apology or acknowledgement for waiting. I asked the employee if they had a syrup and they said they have this kind, but let me look for the other (paraphrasing), and while doing so let off some crude language which I thought unprofessional.

While waiting for my drink, to my shock the unleashed dog made it's way behind the counter where the employee was making drinks, and then proceeded to make it's way into the kitchen area, where all the food is. Neither employee made any attempt to remove the dog, and the individual in the kitchen was even baby talking the pet. The owner made no effort to grab his dog either. I am honestly so shocked they allowed this dog into a supposedly sanitary environment, where food is made. I have a dog, I work with them, I love them, but I absolutely know a line was crossed today. People can claim all they want that their dog is clean, but ultimately they are an animal, and they can be dirty and do not belong in establishments where food is being served.

I have already provided a complaint to DATCP.

Overall, really disappointed in this establishment. I hope they can take criticism and improve. I would love to try again after these issues have been resolved.

Don’t get the popping boba, or the chai. Everything tastes artificial, and with the amount of sugary syrup pumps on display, you know that nothing is actually made there, just put together. The chai tastes shitty and artificial, and it left a spice burn in the back of my throat that I usually never get. The popping boba is made poorly, and you can tell the lack of effort and research that was put in just from the texture. The decorations are kitschy, and they use those wood squares with cheesy text saying stuff like “Either you like bacon or you’re wrong,” and it makes the place look like a wine mom decorated it over a hangover. My friend got the caramel macchiato, and the caramel just didn’t mix, it sat completely separate from the coffee, just sitting on the bottom of the cup. Additionally, the woman behind the counter was being rude to the other employees, and verbally harassing them, saying things like “It’s so easy, you should know better,” when they obviously just needed help. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend. Just go to Whelans in downtown Ocon, it’s much better, and the chai is actually good and well made.

Java Hut is such a delightfully charming coffee shop. We were so pleased that we could bring our pup with us this morning. The coffee and pastries were outstanding. The attention and treats given to our pup was so sweet! Everybody was so friendly that we felt like we were visiting old friends! I can't wait to go there again.

Great local coffee shop! Highly recommend! Plenty of coffee options with a nice food selection. Even has fresh bakery options. Prices are better than the chain options. I love the quiet atmosphere and will sometimes stay for a few hours to get some work done.

When I lived downtown Oconomowoc always loved stopping by for a cup of Berres Brothers flavored coffee and a cookie. Fantastic friendly service and is clearly a dog friendly place as there was often a pooch sitting at a table with another customer.

First off they are both incredibly hard workers & extremely kind everyone that walks in the door. Plus, they make the best coffee in town!

This place is the best in the area by a LONG shot. Kept tidy and clean and the service is wonderful. I love their coffee, the bakery is delicious and the chicken salad sandwich is STUPID GOOD. They have a great rapport with all customers - new folks and regulars are all welcomed and treated like family. We need more places like this …everywhere!!

A friend suggested we come here and I am so glad we did! We have replaced our weekly Starbucks visit to come here. It’s a way better atmosphere, we like our coffee more, and we get to support a local business; what more could we ask for? My son had his first hot chocolate here, sandy even made sure it wasn’t too hot so he could drink it right away, he’s obsessed now!

LOVED everything about this place when we stopped for the first time today. Great food. Great service. Very friendly. Cute decor. The tortilla soup was the best I've ever had. My daughter loved her hot chocolate and French toast. The Colectivo coffee was fresh and well-made. We live in Waukesha, but we'll be back.

Stopped in for a Christmas gift of gourmet coffee. Lots of choices and they ground the beans for me. The attendant was knowledgable, helpful and polite. I also left with a cup of coffee and a cookie. Can't beat that! I will be a repeat customer.

I love this coffee shop! The new owners have done a great job turning the place around. The decor is quaint, and reminds you of being in a comfy living room. They have couches and a fireplace for when the weather gets cold. They have tasty homemade treats, and AMAZING sandwiches. I’m here daily and Sandy and Duffy have treated me like family since day one.

Another review stated there were no patrons in the store when he was here, however, that’s a lie. The reviewer even took a picture of me (without consent), proving he is wrong about nobody being in the store. Also, while he was in the store there was NO talk about a sink not working. I’m not sure why he mentioned that, but it never was talked about. Come here once, and you’ll see how amazing it is!!

I like that the establishment is very clean, including the restroom. Unfortunately, the artwork is not interesting. I would suggest to the owners that they incorporate work from local artists. The espresso roast was mediocre. The staff was friendly. We were the only patrons in the establishment early afternoon on a Monday, therefore it could be a quiet place to get some work done.

The employees spoke of having issues with the sinks "not working" in the kitchen.

I would prefer a number of other coffee shops in the area before returning.

Best coffee and best staff EVER!! I just happened to come across this place as I was out on an errand for work and decided, "Why not try something that isn't Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts?" I was not disappointed. After one visit, I'm pretty sure I'm converted. The Rishi Chai was to DIE for. Best I ever had, and I'm probably the #1 fan of chai tea. The two ladies that helped me were so genuinely nice, too. There wasn't any sort of "fake customer service" act that most places have and it made me feel so welcome, as if I was a customer who had been going there for years. I will 100% be coming back every time I want to get my coffee fix while I'm working. Thank you guys for being so amazing!

The staff is very friendly and the coffee is great. There is a large selection of drinks, not just coffee. There are also some tasty breakfast and lunch dishes. This is a great place for meeting with friends, having a book club or Bible study, or just grabbing a quick drink. The prices are high but not ridiculous for the drinks, but the prices for food is pretty expensive. Great little coffee shop in a convenient location.
