It was good food. That has plenty of fun options on the menu. The best thing I had was the cranberry walnut pie. It was tart and sweet with Christmas spices, something I'd never seen in a menu and can't find any Internet recepies that even look close. Will definitely stop in next time I'm in Baraboo.

This place was super cute and super delicious! After we sat down (its seat yourself) the waitress was very quick. The wait for the food was short. It was the best restaurant biscuits and gravy that I've ever had! The hashbrowns were crispy and french toast was fluffy with a beautiful crust

I have been to Jen’s twice now. The first time service was a bit slow but it was a busy Saturday and seemed like they didn’t have many servers so it was understandable. The food was amazing, 5 stars…
However I’m giving them 4 stars because of my second visit. I ordered the same thing both times, eggs benedict. The first time again, amazing…second time as you can see in the photo it was not a runny egg. Not only that but I could tell right away it was too hard even before cutting it. So if I could tell that, I’m surprised the cooks didn’t know that as well. I’m not the type of person to tell them to redo it (plus I was hungry and didn’t want to wait)
I’ll definitely go back…I’m guessing this was just a fluke thing

At Jen’s Alpine today for my birthday- words can’t express not only how great the food was (creamy chicken wild rice soup and the most delicious strawberry rhubarb pie) was, but how kind the owner and local patrons are. Thank you to Peggy, Ryan, and Jen for your kindness and the amazing food, service, and kindness you all showed me!

My family and I went to try to have breakfast, so when I got in to ask for a table a big group, the lady just turned away and didn't say a word. I left for multiple reasons. The smell of the place wasn't the best and wasn't pleasant and the attitude of the staff wasn't the best. Even though there are not many places to eat around, I would recommend driving a little bit further before you chose this place as your destination.

We were in Baraboo overnight traveling and was referred to Jen's Alpine Cafe by a local resident at our hotel. It was the best recommendation we've had in years. The place was buzzing with laughter & conversations between friends or family who filled almost all the booths and tables. Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our entries. The cafe was decorated for fall as well. We have reflected over our meal all day long and so happy we stumbled upon this place via the recommendation.

What a fun place. Decor from the 1960s with all solid wood and quartersawn oak panels.
Exceptional Friday fish fry / bake, and they could easily accommodate one in our party that is gluten-free. And they even do the Wisconsin potato pancakes with applesauce. Prices are quite reasonable.
If you live in or around Baraboo, or you're just visiting from deep south Arizona like us, you really owe it to yourself to visit every Friday for this fish fry. Can't wait to come back.

The Good:
The atmosphere is super cute.
The Bad:
Food: I've never been served eggs Benedict with a hard-boiled egg anywhere in my life. I'm normally someone who doesn't complain about food, but the yolk and hollandaise is the best part of an eggs Benedict.
Service: I didn't have a chance to ask about the hard-boiled egg on my Benedict because the server did not come by after dropping off our food. I have worked food service and understand when tables are full and service may not be as good. At the time our food was dropped off tables had cleared out and there was probably 2 or 3 other tables besides mine. The waitress walked by a couple times but not close enough to grab her attention and she didn't stop once to check in with us if we needed refills or anything else.
I love to try local foods and give my money to local businesses, but the food here was nothing to write home about and the service was lack luster.

It’s been a little while since we were in here last but the couple times we’ve been in have not disappointed.
My toddler and I were in one day for lunch & we’re catered to like we were family. The older waitress was so kind and helpful!
The second time was my husband was with me and my son for breakfast & everything was excellent.
We love the older vibe and everyone is treated like family. Food is excellent! Portions are perfect and prices are reasonable.
Highly recommend & looking forward to the next visit!!

The food was excellent as always, I recommend but for whatever reason, the owner Jen, was not in a good mood & that reflected on the atmosphere. The person I was with asked questions about the menu & she seemed irritated that he asked questions. I'm sure it was questions that she hasn't been asked before. She was short the minute we walked in for lunch. She slammed two treys on the table aside from us & never once smiled. I know it's a tough business & with the soups, pies, and everything else that she makes it's got to be a long day but don't take it out on your customers!

My eggs were cold. The hash browns were good but close to Luke warm. The biscuits and gravy were also cold and had a peculiar taste to them. My wife’s omelette was a little better in taste but also just Luke warm. I believe the food must have been in the back a long time because it took a while. Our waitress checked on us once when she brought out the food. The cashier would not speak and finally smiled when I said, “Have a wonderful day!” It was our first time at this restaurant and our last. It’s always unfortunate to have this kind of experience.

Lovely Christmas decorations but food quality very poor compared to previous years visited here. BLT was awful, dark green something instead of lettuce could not be chewed, bacon was hard, like made the day before and over cooked. “Famous” coleslaw was old and dry, no flavor not like it used to be. Chicken vegetable soup might have been good if not loaded with pepper. From arrival time at 12:30 pm to food received time was 45 minutes.

First time here. My boyfriend and I got here about 10:15 am 9/17/23, was a little busy but was still able to be seated when we walked in. My boyfriend ordered the Mediterranean breakfast bowl and I ordered a mushroom omelet, I opted for the hash brown casserole instead of regular hash browns. When we got our food, the portions were less than we had anticipated. The food was mediocre, the hash brown casserole didn't really have a flavor, I needed to add salt to it. It did cost us less than $30, but all in all, we won't go back if we go back down to baraboo.

Enjoyed a great breakfast here. Really happy to have fresh fruit as a side option. Staff was friendly and attentive. Veggie omlette, hashbrowns and fruit were delicious. Will return.

What a cute, great little diner. Food was delicious, service was great even they were busy! Met Jen, very nice person and in the trenches waiting tables. Apple pie was delicious... should have gotten another slice to go. Will definitely stop there when in the area! 6 stars!
