I’ve ordered takeout from here a couple times. The peppery salt flounder had always been great until yesterday. Not sure what happened, the fish fillet was so thin that I felt like was eating fried batter, and it was very chewy instead of crispy. I ended up throwing most of the dish away, so disappointed! The other dishes like dim sum and beef chow fun were good.

I called to let the staff know, and all I got was a “I’m sorry to hear about that”. They didn’t offer to make it right. We won’t be back, and I will spread the word about the horrible food, and service.

Hello Everyone, I ordered shrimp fried rice... 1. Rice was under cooked and not freshly made... 2. It was some dice white cubes mixed in with the rice, No onions or potatoes, l just couldn't make it out . I tossed it out.. 3. The Crab Rangoon was not freshly made, the size was very small and not freshly made... 4. I didn't get the Red Sweet Sauce that Usually comes with it .. 5. Donuts... I overly cooked, taste Burnt.. tossed... I had it delivered... I'm 5 minutes away... Customer Service Was Extremely Nice and Nice and Polite 💯... Maybe I would have had a different experience with me looking at my food before I left... I will Definitely Not be ordering takeout from this establishment... One of my favorite places to eat. Food is always awesome and I’m super picky about my Chinese food. I never order chicken out, but I will order their chicken teriyaki stick from the appetizer section. Dim Sum section: Hong Kong style wonton noodle soup, preserved egg with pork congee, chicken feet, dough fritters. Chef special: peppery salt fish fillet, peppery salt triple delight(shrimp, squid and fish) pan fried noodles are the best!!! I ordered a combo. it included "chicken fried rice", but my rice gas NO Chicken.
I asked to get rice with chicken IN IT, I was told that there are chicken rice has minced tiny pieces of chicken in it because the chicken is chopped up by a machine not by a person. I asked to upgrade to shrimp fried rice and was told that the upgrade charge would be $8!
and my orange chicken is Over Cooked!

This is my family's go-to for Chinese. The service is truly excellent: they're always pleasant, the prices are reasonable, the order is always right, it's always ready on time (usually a little early in fact), always hot and fresh. When I'm ordering for the spouse and kids, or on the odd Thursday evening when I'm too tired to cook, and what I really need is for everyone to get what they expected, no surprises or delays or hassles, this is the place. They have a few tables but the vibe is definitely takeout. The food is fine -- I wouldn't say it separates itself from the pack of local Chinese takeouts -- but they have a dim sum menu which is rare in Milwaukee, and there are a few gems on it.

I used to get their food all the time and recently they have lost ALL of my business and fat. The last time before this my order totaled $28 but was charged $228. They did make things right by having the delivery driver give me the $ that was charged extra. This guy's homemade Szechuan sauce is out of this world! I told him very hot and the food is actually hot! Unlike certain other restaurants who don't believe me. If my nose doesn't run I'm sad. The spring roll and fried rice are fantastic but I'll be coming back for this lovely Szechuan (malay?)!!!
The man inside is polite and asked all the right questions! He's been checking on me while he does paperwork or something. The language I hear coming from the kitchen is beautiful, the atmosphere is chill as no other customers are eating here at 2pm. I LOVE this. I NEEDED this!

As a disclaimer, I don't normally go out of my way to write bad reviews. My lady and I don't get a lot of days off together, and we wanted to get takeout for date night.

I placed an order for takeout for my lady and I, we got egg foo young and the happy family dinner with chicken fried rice and crab rangoon. The happy family dinner was bland and undercooked, and very much watered down. I've never had chicken fried rice that was more bland than this, with little chicken in it. The rice was overcooked and dry, and not flavorful at all. The "sauce" included for the egg foo young was watery as well. The only thing that was made well was the crab rangoon. I really wish I could post this review with photos to show I'm not just being a mean guy, but this entire experience was incredibly disappointing. There was only a young kid working when we came to pick up the order. I'm not sure if he was the one that made the food, but my lady has had food from here before and it was nothing like this.

Solid four stars reflect dimsum menu.
It has been a while, so I tried their Mongolian beef and mala pork again… but I was not wowed.

Mongolian beef is still VERY onion heavy, and not the dark brown dish with green onions anymore. IT’s still tasty, but definitely feels more Americanized than authentic.

Mala pork lunch special is not the real authentic Mala dish. Not for me. I asked for hot. But wasn’t. But we had American friends with us and they loved the dish, more than the Mongolian beef. So up to your palate!

Dimsum
Pork and shrimp and chive dumplings were yummy! Looked very home made.

Turnip cake with xo sauce is still delicious.

Hacao is ok, but not fantastic.

Eggplant is delicious. It felt a little less stuffed in this visit, but taste was still on spot.

I've previously really loved this little joint for their excellent dimsum menu. I didn't have any dimsum items this time so this updated review only reflects my take out experience. Hopefully, their dimsum remains as good as I remember it.

I had no issues with the people working here. Everyone was nice, though not the most friendly staff I've met.

I placed the order online and got my food in expected amount of time. Food price was fair and the amount of food they packed in for me was great. I was just under wowed by the taste.

Mongolian Beef
This used to be our absolutely favorite Mongolian beef in town. Some years ago, the dish changed, though, and it has remained the same. I had hoped it was a fluke and it would return to its original delicious self, but it hasn't. it's still very onion heavy and no more char-grilled flavor from before. *cry*

Szechuan Ma La Beef
First time trying this mala dish - MALA is a Chinese spice that is very distinctly peppery and spicy. This dish was not it. It felt like the usual garlic sauce beef. I'm not sure whether they skimped out on the mala or if they mistook my order. Either way, I was hoping for a more authentic fare and received something more toned down.

Considering that the dishes were so under-authentic, I'm not too keen on returning for dimsum.

Owner is friendly. I usually dine in but thought I would try takeout. As my sister and I were the only customers at the time in the shop he came and talked to us. Really friendly guy! The food was high quality and extremely tasty! I love JJs for dim sum, but whatever you do, don't order the egg foo young! A pile of grease with zero flavor and no fresh vegetables. The pork was like chewing a tough shoe. Worst I've had anywhere. Maybe a bad night but I had to toss it all and go get a burger. Great family and nice son but allowing him to take a table and watch cartoons loudly on his device in the tiny space was not a pleasant dinning experience. The ha gao shrimp dumplings are insanely good. Tofu soup was yummy and hearty. You get a good amount of food for your money. End with fried donuts, great meal!

Dined in. Great service. EXCELLENT food. Ordered orange chicken, husband said best he ever had, I concur. Also had Szechuan Ma La Beef soooo amazing. And a spicy Lo Mein. All of the food was perfect. Orange chicken had a perfect blend if chrunch to the breading juiciness to the chicken and flavorful sauce. The noodles had a great blend of flavor and texture that could have been eaten alone! The beef was tender, perfectly done and again such a great combination of seasoning to produce a robust rounded flavor. It’s been awhile since I was so impressed with a dining out experience. Just wished there was music but I will still go back many more times.

Don’t trust any review above 2 stars. This is not the same JJ Chens as it was a few years ago. The staff is horrible. The food is probably not cooked right. The staff didn’t care and it shows when you walk inside and they are all hanging out. We have had called in and had to wait almost a half hour. Stay away from this place

They put large shrimps in their shrimp fried rice and it's made when you order. I drive 15 miles for their food. Yes!!! It's that good.

I went in and was there for 20 min and no one so much as said hi, acknowledged my presence or greeted me in any way, so I left. Apparently they didn’t want my money! I have very little other feedback because I was never given the opportunity to order!

Our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! Our food is always hot and very flavorful . They are great about helping you find a certain dish or any special requests. We always order takeout & they are fast and the food is ready on time. We have had chicken Kung Pao, pork fried rice, pork or chicken egg foo young, chicken with mixed vegetables and beef and broccoli. It's all been good👍

We have ordered food plenty of times before and it was really good with no issues. Well tonight we ordered some and I had the orange chicken and while it was tasting okay, I ended up finding a staple in a piece of chicken. Didn’t even finish eating any of the food. So disgusting to find that in the food!

The chichen was hard no flavor , the rice tasted the cigarette smoke. The wongtongs where super hard tasted like old greese.. I will never eat here again wasted $50 on something that I could make better at home

It's what you expect of quick Chinese cuisine. It's not really a dine-in restaurant, though they do have a few tables. This is really an online or phone order for pick up type restaurant. The prices are decent and the food is good. The space itself seems a bit dark and showing its age, but considering it's not dine-in, we don't get grumpy about our surroundings.

Ordered delivery, it was on time. Other than that, food was flavorless, I ordered medium spicy beef curry and it had no flavor whatsoever. Egg drop soup and beef and broccoli was also devoid of flavor. Fortune cookie however was delicious.

If I could give them a 0 star review I would. I place a $65 order when I went in to pick up I asked if I could get siracha packets and he told me yes but we charge for them I told him you are going to charge me for sauce packets even tho I just placed an order online for $65 he said yes because they are expensive to order. I told him so if I would to eat here you are going to charge me for using the sauce on the table he said no. They are so rude and always trying to charge you for everything.

The food was not good at all…we are questioning even if the fried chicken was cooked properly. The wings are super tiny. The fried rice had no flavor at all. They closed at 9:45 says the site but I ordered my food at 8:30 and they were already packing up to close so I know we got some old food. You can tell nothing was fresh. I would not recommend anyone to go. Was not worth the $15 dollars.

Ordered orange chicken online and picked it at my assigned time on a Monday evening. Rice was barely warm at best and hard. Clearly not freshly made but reheated. Orange chicken was not overly warm either, and very tough! Seemed like it was double batter'd, or left over from previous day, re-batter'd and fried. Many (close to half) were thick pieces of fried batter with no chicken in them. Chen's was great when they opened, but no longer. Won't be eating from here again.

I never write restaurant reviews but feel obligated here. I got actual food poisoning from this. When I was eating it was pretty good but I started to notice some pieces were black inside. I don't mean dark, grey, whatever. I mean actually black in color. Another piece looked exactly like the chicken livers they sell for dogs. I woke up in the middle of the night VIOLENTLY ill and am still recovering.

The green beans are outta this world. So rich in garlic and nice dark flavors. It's amazing. The sauce flavors on the general tso is rich and spicy. The sesame sauce is rich and sweet. Their tofu is cooked well and consistent. Great option for vegans.
