Joeys diner is more than a hidden Gem, it is an entire goldmine! I have gone on four separate occasions, and on each occasion the staff was incredibly thoughtful, kind, and personable. One time our meal was taking a little longer to get to our table (I hadn't even noticed given how much fun we were having) and the waitress brought us delicious milkshakes to hold us over. They were incredibly accommodating when I went with someone who had celiacs, equally accommodating to a baby in a stroller and a dog on the patio; the food was great too (especially the cheese curds)! The theme of the diner was incredible, and it was completely decked-out in Halloween decor! With food that tasty, people that kind, and a price point CHEAPER than what I could get at Culver's for exact same meal, it easily became a regular favorite spot of mine.

We just came today for our one year anniversary! We got free dessert , shake, and Popsicles. Everyone was so nice to us and I've never felt this happy and seen in an establishment before. Joey’s was great. This is our second time here. The first time we came here with a fairly large party, 8 people, and all felt well taken care of. This visit was the same. I have been to Joeys many times with my family! It’s a simple throwback diner menu and the food executed just right every time I have been there. Great burgers and fries. I also recommend the cheese curds. They are a must! The staff is very friendly and they are always trying to deliver fantastic service! Joey is always there and is one of the most special restaurant owners I have encountered in ages! He cares! He cares about his staff, his food, and most of all his customers! He is constantly helping his staff, constantly helping lead them and always giving them positive feedback about their hard work! I front of everyone, this is no secret! He and is staff always greet customers as they come through the door and best of all they bless every customer leaving and thank them for their patronage! They give free cookies to tables with children and sometimes even a free little milkshake! All through summer they are handing out icy pops to customers of all ages when you are hot. I have even seen Joey giving them to just kids outside biking on the sidewalks, not even there eating! Joey, his staff, and Joeys Diner are all becoming staples of a great Waukesha community! Joey’s is a fun place to eat. We’re not from the area so we were a one-time visitor but if in the area we would return. Upon arrival we were greeted by a jovial greeter which set the tone for a good experience. After being seated and ordering the side of corn dogs which were to die for we were brought a small plate with 2 fudge stripe cookies-nice touch!!! Our shakes were delicious and wish they were a little bigger. We both ordered double cheeseburgers and fries which we really enjoyed and how can you go wrong with a smash style of burger. We were visiting friends who recently married and eight of us had lunch on the front porch area. Joey and his staff were incredibly accommodating, even as the place was packed. He made room for us on the veranda, and the server was fast, friendly, and helpful. The food was FANTASTIC. We just had lunch at Joey’s Diner and it was such a treat. Staff is very helpful and attentive. Joey is such a kind man! Makes sure he personally checks on every table. My autistic grandson was touching a Beanie Baby and Joey just handed it to him to keep. Then followed up with popsicles for the children. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. I just wanna say that the atmosphere and the staff are superior to most places. They really put effort into checking in and super friendly at that. I would say the food is not bad. They do put effort into that as well. But the quality of the burger meat is alright. The cheese curds were the best part! I thought I could get a shake with my meal but it’s not on the menu so I was a little disappointed. But I did get a root beer float and that was good. I got the patty melt. The bread was perfectly toasted. I could see there were grilled onions but didn’t really get that sweet caramelized flavor I’m used to. The cheese pull was insane! But like I mentioned before the quality of the meat was not that great. Truly no fault of how they cooked it or anything, it’s just what they ordered. Overall I do give this place a solid 5 stars for atmosphere and and service, but I would say 4 for the food. 🍔

I was happy the Buffalo Chicken Salad had the option of grilled vs fried chicken. I ordered grilled. Just had an amazing meal at Joey’s Diner in Waukesha and I can’t recommend it highly enough! We ordered burgers and a fish sandwich, and everything was absolutely delicious. The food quality was top-notch and the portions were generous - excellent value for your money.
What really made our visit special was Joey himself. He took personal care of us throughout our meal, making sure we had everything we needed. As a sweet surprise, he even treated us to a complimentary Homer Simpson donut that was the perfect ending to our meal!
The restaurant was spotless - you can tell they take real pride in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. But what touched me most was watching Joey step outside to give a burger patty to a little dog. That simple act of kindness really showed the heart behind this business.
If you’re looking for great food, fair prices, and genuine hospitality in Waukesha, Joey’s Diner is the place to go. We’ll definitely be back!

We came here for lunch with a group of 8 and were blown away by the service, food and atmosphere. The patty melt was one of the best I’ve ever had. The manager / owner was so energetic and kind. He even chased us down as we were walking out to give us free cupcakes. Definitely a must stop if you’re in the area.

What a fantastic place . Mushroom burger is my favorite. Melts in your mouth. Fried onion rings, excellent. Crisp and a delicious dipping sauce. Food comes out hot! Joey and his staff are friendly and attentive. I will definitely be back.

This is a must for visiting downtown Waukesha! I happened upon this little gem and was captivated by the entire vibe, plus the care that Joey had put into the décor and ambiance. Joey established the diner about a year and a half ago, and it was quite apparent that this was a labor of love. Joey was very welcoming and attentive to all of those who came for lunch. No table or seat at the counter was left unchecked by Joey himself, and his two servers were also very attentive. Last but not least, it was great to get seated with a couple of fudge-striped cookies!

Joey, I don’t know how you do it you and your staff are absolutely a blessing to your customers. We seen you extremely busy tonight with a line out the door and you still held yourself together with a couple of people working I don’t know how many to go orders. I seen go out the door while your restaurant was full and people waiting. Your timing was very good. About 12 minute ticket times I’ve been in the restaurant business for 30+ years and know exactly what it’s like to have a restaurant full of people and the stress it brings and you kept encouraging your staff. you stayed positive. The tickets kept coming, and the tables kept flipping . I listened to the others chatter around me, and there was nothing but pleasant people that were happy speaking about how positive You are and how's encouraging you are to your employees. Keep up the good work will be back and tell many others about you.

We were referred to the diner for my gentleman I work with. We walked in today and we're greeted by Joey. He made a table for us greeted us unreal. The staff that he has is amazing. We had cookies brought to our table along with some wonderful food that was served very quickly. When I went to bill out we were given to push-up popsicles. Unbelievable experience. We will be going back soon and I would recommend everybody in the area to try them out. We didn't get a chance to go into their pizza place next door but that's going to be our next stop smiles

As someone who has worked in restaurants from everyday food to fine dining, this place checks all of the boxes.

The food is simple but done flawlessly. Not everything has to be complicated to be good. If done well simple things are just as good if not better. There is still skill involved. Well balanced tasted. Textures where spot on. And the food came out fast, fresh and hot! Beware the onion rings and deep fried mushrooms have not been sitting around for any length of time.

The service. The young woman who took care of us was very excellent. Having been a server I can be really be really critical too. She was warm and friendly but not important genuine. She felt like that cousin you had not seen in a long time. That is a skill that cannot be taught. Before knowing that I was talking to the owner's daughter suggested she work at a fine dining place because she would absolutely crush a job like that.

The atmosphere of the place is great. First off the place is clean. The tables are spotless and not sticky or greasy. The table being the most important place. It's an open kitchen so you can see just how clean it is back there. There are a smaller number of tables so it was busy, but not outrageously loud. The owner came out to greet each and every table and to make sure everything was going great.

Before the meal came they brought out a few complimentary cookies for everyone. Definitely a nice and thoughtful touch.

When the food came out, initially I thought the portion size was a bit small. I had a burger and deep fried mushrooms. I will say despite the size I was definitely full by the end. It turned out to be exactly the perfect portion size. I came in really hangry too after a long day of buying a new car. So my appetite was definitely healthy.

The prices are great. You'd spend more money at Red Robin. Though RR doesn't have that same authentic atmosphere nor the outstanding service.

The negatives. Nothing outrageous but every place has things it can improve. I am always nitpick. The tables are old and do wobble a bit. And there is nothing they can do about the parking, but it is not terribly convenient. It's a downtown location so there's really nothing that can be done about that.

One of my new favorite places. It's not often a business itself has charisma. So when it does, it really stands out and leaves an indelible impression. I'm just upset I live 2 hours away. I will come back when u have to head this way already. Easily worth an hour detour. It's not just food, it's the complete experience you won't regret.

What a fun place! My daughter, her friend, and I searched for a place to eat and decided to try Joey's Diner, and I'm so glad we did! The food was delicious-awesome cheese curds😋🤤, the atmosphere was so fun with the Coca-Cola decor, juke box playing classic tunes, but the service was what made it really great! So friendly and and welcoming; always checking in with everyone; and thanking us for choosing Joey's! Extra surprises that we didn't know were coming, even a free slice of cake! Great prices, too. Even though the food was good it was smaller portion. When I asked management he stated they had a 50’s type of vibe with smaller portions. But charge almost $8 for a burger. It looked like the size of a burger from Wendy’s 🤷🏼‍♀️ He did make another one for me on the house. I got no bun for low carb which is on the menu. But there isn’t much else that is low carb friendly. So my lunch was 2 small patties with bacon lettuce and condiments. That alone was about $8 or $9. So in my opinion if your going for smaller portions for a ‘50’s vibe’ maybe have your prices to match 👍🏼

This was one of the best experiences I have in a long time. The inside was a slice of my childhood. It was like walking into a restaurant from the early 60s. The food prices were great and everything was so good from cheeseburgers, onion rings, and fries. I got tears in my eyes listening to music that I grew up with. First time here.came from watertown to give them a try. We all had burgers/ chicken sandwich. Cheese curds are amazing! Vibe/atmosphere is amazing. Customer is amazing! They are ALL ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. Hard to find a place like this. They gave us stickers,shakes,cake and popsicles(😅) on the house. We definitely left full and happy. We will be back for sure!
