When you visit somewhere and you walk in for the first time and see it bustling busy, with fun and laughter, then you know you have found a great local spot! Such is the case with Joey's Yardarm! Visiting son in Kenosha and we came here for a birthday (mine) meal. Living in Arizona, we don't have many places offering Po'boys, so I had my first ever shrimp po'boy and it was amazing. Staff was attentive and very informative. Found out I get a birthday dessert, so brought back a brownie cheesecake that I will share with hubby later. Cute nautical theme; I felt like I was in a submarine with the kitschy windows and our huge corner booth (comfortably seated 7 grown humans). Any foodie would appreciate the menu. We ate here for the first time this evening, after being in the area for an event. We were seated immediately and our server Madison came over and introduced herself to us. She took our drink and appetizer order in a very timely manner. We were in the side room with a large group of about 15 people, who she was also serving.

Madison handled all the tables flawlessly and amazingly, she was professional but had a fun personality. We asked for recommendations and she gave honest advice and we appreciated that and took some of her recommendations as well. We couldn’t have been more happy with our dining experience. We will be back!

The food was excellent and had its own unique spin on some dishes as well. The fried walleye was thinly fried and tasted great. The crab cakes were thin, large and a little crispy with excellent flavor.French onion soup was amazing! Lots of onions and not salty like many FO soups tend to be. The claim chowder was a little thick/dense with a lot of potatoes (later in the evening) but lots of clam pieces too. It was good but not great.

Stopped in on a whim after not visiting for many years. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as I had remembered from my last visit many years ago. Our server (Becky?) was more than awesome. Friendly, spirited and attentive. We just stopped in for Saturday bloodies and appetizers and we're pleasantly surprised. I’ll start by saying we had great service. Our waitress was really busy, but was really on top of bringing out our appetizer and food in a timely manner and also kept our drinks full. My issue was with my meal. I ordered the perch dinner with sand dollars. Sand dollars- great as always. The perch reminded me more of a leather chew that I would give my dog as a treat. It was so over cooked, especially on the ends, that I could not even break them apart. Not sure if it was maybe a new fry cook in the kitchen or that the pieces were so incredibly tiny that they shriveled up as soon as they hit the oil… Either way, I think some quality control or retraining might be necessary.

I like getting fish fry every Friday so I thought I’d give this place a try. It’s kind of a hidden gem. I got the Cod plate with sweet potato fries for a dollar extra. My total was only 14 dollars, just a water as a drink. The fish fry itself was amazing. Portion size for the fish was a little underwhelming, the fries were a lot which I appreciate, and the coleslaw wasn’t bad. I ate my meal outside and it was a good experience. The service was good. I will definitely say it’s a good fish fry place.

Joeys Yardarm is always our favorite stop for Friday fish fry. My wife got blue gills and I had the red snapper special. It was a very generous cut, and was flaky and delicious. Consistently good spot for fried fish and "sand dollar" fresh parmesan coated potato chips, so good. However menu is quite large and therefore some dishes come out not so great because of course its too difficult to keep all those items on hand fresh. Some things should probably be removed from menu for quality sake. Another gripe is they are not consistent with burger temps even tho they offer only two temps, pink or not pink, but they still get it wrong often. Bar service is consistentally faster and more enjoyable. Be sure to try their delish bloody marys with really good housemade pickle spears. The bartenders have all been great.

If you like heavily savory and rich you’ll like it. Slightly overpowered for my taste. Fries were good, cooked perfectly. Soup was Tuscan sausage and potato…but no potato in our bowl. BLT was your typical BLT, except the bread was buttered on every side, making it quite rich. Sand dollars were cooked well, but are missing something from the seasoning, perhaps salt. But I assume it wouldn't be this way at all if the previous owners were still here. They were quite literally around all day to make sure you were having a good visit. What did we get last time I went for lunch? Dana. Hungover, bad attitude, no effort for service. Except when some people she knew came in. Man, I wish we were those people. They got stellar service. And in turn our service became worse. We became a pariah to this person. Having to constantly get her attention over and over. The food was mostly just ok and not what I remember. They should just change the name. Becky is the only good thing about this place and sadly she was not there that day.
