We celebrated my grandson's 21st birthday at Johnny Delmonico's, and it was wonderful. Everything about the evening was perfect, from the greeting from Gaston Solis, the GM, who was welcoming and set a celebratory tone. While the staff at the restaurant is consistently friendly and helpful, Ryan, our server for the evening, was amazing. His people skills are impressive. He made my grandson feel special and helped us enjoy celebrating and dining. The food was creatively prepared and delicious. A few dishes we highly recommend are the Smoked Beet Tartare, the Filet Mignon, Lobster Mac & Cheese, and Grilled Cauliflower Steak.

The Barrel Aged Manhattan was a favorite. The decor is attractive, and the playlist impressively curated and enjoyable (Kudos to Eliza!).

We highly recommend Johnny Delmonico's Steakhouse for a wonderful dining experience and as the perfect place to create special memories.

We had a great meal and enjoyed the evening. Martinis were perfect! My wife had the beef tartare and the coffee crusted salmon and loved both. I think she will be back for the tartare for her dinner on my next business trip. I had the French onion soup....yum....and the Caesar salad with tenderloin on top. One of my favorites. Love the dressing and the beef is always so incredibly tender. The true delight of our evening was Amanda S though, knowledgeable, personable and so professional. She was wonderful too. My fiancée and I came here to celebrate our engagement, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. From the moment we sat down, our server, Ryan, was incredible — friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. He helped us choose the perfect cocktails (which were absolutely superb) and guided us toward two amazing entrées: the seabass and the dry-aged ribeye with blue cheese crust. Three of us were celebrating a 70th birthday and were referred to your restaurant. We ordered drinks right away. After waiting half an hour, and unable to find our waiter, I went to the bar to see if there was a problem. I was assured the drinks were coming soon. The drinks came and one of them was wrong. Again, we waited a long time for our waiter so we could all order appetizers. The appetizers arrived and one of them was wrong. We placed our dinner orders, and thankfully they arrived without any more mistakes. The quality of everything, food and drink, we ordered was excellent. Unfortunately, our overall experience was tainted by very polite but inattentive and mistake prone service. We had no issues with price, and the food was excellent, but for that kind of money we expect service to be at the same standard.

First course was meh, not nearly as good as expected. Salad was ok, but far too much cheese. Lobster mac 'n' cheese was oversalted and dry, had to force myself to get through it. One of my two dinner partners was happy with their choice, the other found theirs much the same as mine, just OK but not a fine dining experience. Drinks were well made. High prices, mid-range execution
We came expecting fine-dining polish; the experience landed closer to casual for the cost.

Arrival/host: We checked in a bit early and were told our table wasn’t ready “until the reservation time.” A simple “please relax at the bar/lobby; I’ll let you know when it’s ready” would have felt more welcoming.

Food: Tuna tartare’s flavors were dominated by avocado/ginger, so the tuna didn’t really shine. One soup (French onion) was enjoyed; the lobster bisque wasn’t to my taste—the color/flavor seemed off, and the lobster appeared larger than it was due to a paste underneath with an odd texture. Steaks were mixed: one nicely cooked and seasoned, the other surprisingly under-seasoned. Sides were generous and well done (garlic mash, hash browns); grilled asparagus had good flavor but some woody ends. Cappuccinos were solid.

Service: Courteous but procedural. No one checked on the untouched bisque, and service seemed to hand off between staff without explanation—more box-checking than hospitality.

Atmosphere: Modern and tidy but a bit impersonal, with a full view of the dining room from the entrance; it didn’t add much to the occasion.

Bottom line: Given the spend, I’ll put my dining dollars elsewhere unless I hear execution has markedly improved.

We celebrated our anniversary last night with dinner at Johnny Delmonico’s. The steak was cooked to perfection! It was absolutely delicious! My husband said the same about his sea bass. The potatoes and asparagus were wonderful.

The issues we had were that our warm bread came after we had finished our soup and salad. We would have wnjoyed it more with our soup and salad. The waitress was not attentive. She never asked if we wanted another beverage and onions were missing from the hash browns. The chocolate torte was extremely small and was very dry.

We would recommend the restaurant to friends but would share our experience.

A great experience for Madison Restaurant Week 2025 at Johnny Delmonico’s. We added an extra oyster appetizer along with the French onion soup and iceberg wedge. I have enjoyed this restaurant for several years! Some of the best steaks that I have had. Wait staff is receptive and friendly. However, our last visit was less than ideal. My personal belief is that part of the experience is comfort while dining. For $150 dollars per person you should not have to sit and sweat at dinner. It was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant and all members of my party were miserably overheated. At first, I rationalized that it was a hot flash, but when other people in my party are saying they are too hot it’s a problem. Just o give you an idea on the temperature, the ice cream drinks were pure liquid by the time they were served.
My other concern is the server was not versed on the availability of the menu. I realize that we are living in times when it is difficult to obtain food, but it is up to the wait staff to know the menu. On two separate occasions 2 of my guests (out of 6) had to place a subsequent order due to lack of availability of food. I know some of this seems like an overprivileged gripe, but we were also paying an above average price for dinner, and with that, per my expectation, comes with an assumption that the wait staff has the knowledge of what items are available.
The food was amazing, however, due to the excessive temperature, our dinner was cut short.

Had the best time at Johnny Delmonicos! We had a date night at Johnnys this Sunday and it was perfect. We had a reservation at 7, arrived early to have a drink at the bar where Nick took care of us. He was incredibly knowledgeable and charming. We decided to spend our dinner at the bar with him instead! He recommended the calamari and tuna tar tar. Both fabulous, great portions, great times. We also got oysters, the ribeye, and the sea bass. Stellar food. He helped us pick wine pairings, and it was awesome. First bite of sea bass I said “oh my god?” Out loud. The steak was perfect. Too full for dessert so we took a key lime pie home (which was also sick). The vibe in the restaurant was incredible. Intimate but also busy. Nick took such good care of us, he was so attentive and funny and also allowed us space to enjoy our celebratory dinner. Literally could not have had a better experience :) Shout out Nick, I’m sure we’ll be back again.

We went here for an anniversary , we only booked it a day before, and they gave us this perfect ,private corner window seat. We got greeted, welcomed, and congratulated for our anniversary by every staff member from hostess, waiter, water, manager, you name it .
They even had a card on our table that everyone signed, it was extremely thoughtful and I absolutely loved that. Ryan was our waiter and he was fantastic as well.

Aside from the service and extreme thoughtfulness, the food was delicious. The ambience is very sophisticated with rather reasonable prices.

My first time here. I had the French onion soup, a fillet steak with Demi glaze and onions and the garlic mashed potatoes. Food was outstanding. During this meal, we tried the tuna tartare and lobster bisque for the appetizers. For the main, I did a 7oz dry aged new york strip and 2 scallops. We had a key lime pie for dessert. The cocktails are a bourbon sour and a final ward (like a last word but with rye whiskey + lemon juice instead of gin + lime juice).

In the past, we have had the crab cakes and gargonzola beet salad - both absolutely delicious but the gargonzola can be a bit overpowering. My wife has gotten the Scottish salmon before and woudl recommend.

The creme brulee is absolutely perfect here too, we've gone in just for cocktails and creme brulee at the bar before.

The ump crab cake was pretty good but a little mushy. I had a ribeye and my partner had a filet. They were ok but not very tender and pretty thin. The really bad part was our waitress. She was exceptionally inattentive to the point where we almost walked out. She forgot our bread basket then our butter and even forgot to put forks in the bag for our to go desserts. Eating pie with your hands at a hotel is no fun. Definitely not with the $270 bill. Avoid.

I went with my partner for the valentine’s dinner. We spent almost $300 for 3-course meal for 2 persons.

The service was great. Except for telling us that we could substitute a side dish without mentioning the upcharge.

The food was quite disappointing. Lobster Bisque was kind of sour. I had so many Lobster Bisque but never had one that is sour like it had a fermented ingredient in there.
We both got steak and they were both oversalted, which kind of ruined the natural flavor of the steak.
We got walnut icecream that had a sherbet-like texture and pieces of ice inside. Not the end of the world but unacceptable for ~$300 meal. Ice cream should by creamy and not rocky. It’s the worst when you tasted something you didn’t expect.
Overall, only setvice is nice. Food was kinda disappointing and probably won’t go back again.

I felt very welcome on my first visit. We were one of the first tables to be seated– still, courses seemed timed with careful restraint, not delay. The first dishes were ahi tuna and beef tartare and the latter was especially outstanding. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but we expected better from the Food Fight flagship restaurant. Mark me disappointed...

This was our second meal at Johnny Delmonico's. The first experience was terrific. Last night we had a problem. While we clearly ordered a particular first course, a completely different course arrived instead (beef tartare). We were with another couple and decided not to make a fuss -- but both of our stomaches were unsettled afterwards. Our booth in the bar area was cozy and the service otherwise was fine.

Everything was wonderful!
Parking ramp close by. Warm greeting. Our server, Ryan, was a pleasure. Food was delicious. Manager was around, nothing to complain about, only compliments. Appropriate wait time throughout- time to enjoy conversation and your current dish but not so much time you felt forgotten about. Atmosphere was nice - cozy steakhouse style dinning but still bright enough you can read your menu. Loved it!

This was our first experience at Delmonico's. We were greeted immediately at the door by the host, who was professional and polite. She took our coats and called on us immediately when our reserved table was ready, while we waited at the bar. Note, our table was ready at exactly 7pm, the time of our reservation. The bartender was also professional and welcoming. Once at our table, our server was fantastic! He was very professional, comfortable with his position and readily answered our questions without hesitation. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and all sides were excellent! I have found that Johnny Delmonico's Steakhouse is one of those rare places that practices Continuous Improvement - they just keep getting better. And they were great the first time I went, several years ago.
The staff are always courteous, and friendly, without being over-bearing. They are more than knowledgeable about the menu, and exceptional parings.

Ashton was a great server. The mushroom risotto, loaded potato and scallops were fantastic! Excellent wine and good whiskey selection. We both ordered the surf and turf: 7 oz steak and scallops.

My steak was...OK. Didn't seem very tender or seasoned. Was cooked medium rare as ordered, but not what I expected from a $65 entree. At home I'd pan sear with butter salt and thyme. None of that seemed to be used.

I'd return but not for the steak. I'm still giving a 4 stars based on everything else.

I will say though I am a little disappointed as we took a later dinner time in order to ensure we were at a normal dining table (made sure on the phone) and then they still sat us at the bar. I travel for work and get to visit many nice establishments. This place definitely stands above them all. Exceptional food. Some of the best steaks I have experienced in all of the world. PERFECTION, plain & simple! Chef Logan Riese is in a league of his own! Every dish that he creates, brings about an unmatched state of euphoria with every bite! The lamb chops & the ribeye cap steak are absolute treasures! I can’t recommend this place enough!

My husband and I rarely get out for date nights with 3 young kids. We were so excited to celebrate his birthday last weekend. All he wanted was a "great steak, great old fashioned and great atmosphere". We were seated at a nice table and greeted by a nice waitress. The old fashioned we ordered was really weak - and tasted mostly like juice. We drank them down and then ordered wine instead. Our server forgot the wine and we sat for 10 minutes with no drinks. Once we inquired, she brought the wine right away. Our appetizer was good, but our meals were not. He ordered the filet mignon - while it was cooked nicely and was tender, it was absolutely DOUSED in onions - like an entire onion sitting atop his steak. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. For a restaurant advertising as a "steak and seafood" place, I thought it would be a good choice. It came in a brownish gravy sauce, tasted nothing like cheese - I'm not actually sure there was cheese in it? And had a few random (disgusting) bits of lobster in it. Our waitress never asked how the meal was and didn't seem the least bit concerned when she cleared a full plate from me. For a meal that was around $300, this was NOT what we were hoping for, very disappointing.

I wanted to love this place due to my brother’s recommendation and it being a celebratory dinner. However, Delmonico’s has left something to be desired.

The Good:
-Our waitress was excellent and on top of everything.
-The hash brown was my favorite part of the meal and I encourage anyone to try it.
- The Delmonico Old Fashioned was a nice take on a classic and was enjoyable.

The Bad:
- I ordered the 14 oz. Dry Aged New York Strip medium rare and it came out with a char. I’m fine with char, but it was overpowering and frankly it was burnt.
- When I informed the Maître d of my issue, he was condescending and informed me that I must not like char. However, he said he would bring me another.
- Whenever my second steak came out, the Maître d decided to beat announce it by making a spectacle in front of my family and stating “Here you go, here is one with no char for you.” as if I was a toddler.
- The second steak was unfortunately heavily gristly.

The rest of my family’s meals were excellent including my brother’s who ordered the exact same steak. Again, I wanted to love Johnny Delmonico’s but we may try elsewhere for our next dinner. To the Maître d, I hope you have the day that you deserve sir.

We had a marvelous time at Johnny Delmonico’s Steakhouse. We both had steaks, which were excellent and cooked exactly as we wanted them. There is definitely a flavor difference between the dry-aged steak and the regular steak. Our server was very attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant and not too loud. We would go again and my husband said he’d order the dry-aged steak next time.

Had reservations for 4 , which were confirmed twice. Got there at 7:00 table not ready which was fine, said we would have a drink in the bar. Wrong, entire bar top was full of people eating dinner!! So not only could we not get a drink at the bar it took 20 min for the server to bring drinks which was after the salads came out!. My steak was ordered Medium and was Rare, mashed potatoes were luke warm. Couldn't send back, everyone would have been done eating by the time it came back. When Server was asked about all the people eating at the bar, she said oh well they are hungry. They should have been turned away if there were No tables available?! The first time we were there with 6 people it was excellent, hence my disappointment this time, my expectations were set high!!

We dined here last night to celebrate my milestone birthday and they did not disappoint! The food, atmosphere and service were all wonderful. The restaurant was elegant and elevated without feeling pretentious. We shared the ahi tuna tartare as an appetizer and each had steak and garlic mashed potatoes and I had scallops- all seasoned and prepared to perfection! With the price point, it’s definitely a special occasion restaurant but worth the money. A nice added touch was the staff being aware of our occasion, including the GM who made a point of coming to greet us and wish me a happy birthday. They ended the night with a slice of delicious cheesecake topped with a candle. I would highly recommend and we will definitely be back!

Fantastic steaks, hash browns, baked potato, salad wedge, and grasshopper. Salmon and rice is also good. Wedge salad can be split between two people and is still plenty large. They can get quite busy on weekends.
