The food was okay. It certainly wasn't amazing... Definitely not worth the price at ALL. the waitress was a little weird, I definitely didn't belong here and it showed. We got placed in a small booth with limited space and no air flow. We had to leave early just to get some fresh air. We paid over 300 dollars and my wife's and I meals were under 30 dollars... Things add up fast. My father in law got the park crust which completely ruined the crust under his steak. It was juicy in a bad way. He said the taste was good but there was a half inch of water on his plate. The apatizers were okay, the bread was good, the soup was good. It was definitely high quality but it wasn't the best meal I've ever had and it certainly wasnt 300 dollars good...

We’re been going here for years with our family when we come into town and usually it is wonderful but this time it was so disappointing. Didn’t want to seat us where we wanted where it would be quiet for our 95 year old mother could hear, waiter forgot our salad, didn’t know about entree changes we asked about since there were virtually no vegetarian choices (used to be several), didn’t refill water glasses, food came out cold, dirty dinner knife, no steak knife brought for steak dinner, never asked if we wanted more drinks or after dinner drinks, and took forever. Two hour dinner for salad and entree. Will think twice before heading back here unfortunately.

Recently visited Johnny's twice.

First time there was only two in the party for a birthday and a private booth had been requested. We did not wait and were immediately placed in that private booth. Within 5 minutes of sitting, the hostess came up and told us someone else had reserved that booth and we were moved to the main dining area booth with apologies. The charcoal ribeye entrees and garlic mashed potatoes were phenomenal. My husband really enjoyed the bread, to me was greasy. Small salads, but very tasty! The brown sugar old fashioned was good but strong. With two entrees, one specialty drink and no desserts came to $140 with tip.

Second visit, there were four of us in the party. I had requested private booth seating when I made my reservation, but was placed in the main dining area booth. The service time was a little slow, but it was pretty busy. The charcoal ribeye, garlic mashed potatoes and veggies were phenomenal. The sirloin steak was subpar and actually appeared to be gray in color, took a couple bites and decided it was not edible. Due to the wait period and how busy it was, chose not to say anything as we knew it would take even longer than what we had already waited. The prime rib was amazing.Would recommend a reservation. With tip for four people for four dinner entrees no dessert and only water for beverage came to $240.

Went to celebrate my husband’s birthday, which we normally do. We know what to expect, price wise. This time just we just felt like the value isn’t there anymore. The food wasn’t bad. However the mashed potatoes were really runny, salad was tiny with nothing much on it and the popovers are way too dense (used to be the reason we went there, love those things). Maybe what set me off was, I made a reservation, they knew it was for a birthday and they sat us in the bar area, just why! That’s not the seating one should choose for a birthday or any celebration. They did give him a card, which was nice. But, what happened to the nice birthday dessert? Overall, this was a disappointing visit. I think we’ll chose elsewhere next time.

We have been going to Johnny’s for years and love it! Tonight we had Cat as our server and she had all the best recommendations, knew the menu like the back of her hand, and was so attentive and friendly! I couldn’t say enough good things about Cat! If you come here the calamari is amazing (dipped in Caesar dressing is so good!) and all of their drinks and entrees are 10/10!

The food overall was good, brought my family of 5 and approached a host which sounded at first like he didn’t want our business as he had to check with the manager if they could accommodate us without reservations, but I think the manager wisely accepted the table as we could have easily take our money elsewhere and been served promptly. Very satisfied overall with the food and the service. Only one short gap in service, and the food was exquisite, with some exception. The lobster bisque while having larger pieces of lobster than I’ve gotten anywhere else sadly tasted like a can of Campbells soup with lobster in it and olive oil on top, thankfully the lobster made up for the canned soup taste. The risotto with the special of the night was crunchy and underdone but the flavors of the evenings special was amazing, my wife ain’t one to send back but it was clearly underdone. The sauce on my oldest sons steak diavolo was delicious, but tasted like the canned Campbells soup dish in the bisque but with some franks hot sauce added to it, but regardless it tased good and my son devoured it. The pastas we had were all amazing and cooked to a perfect al dente and seasoned impeccably and appeared to be hand made or very close to it, the beef Wellington appetizer was delicious, my veal was AMAZING, and we loved the house made dressing (I assume) on my wife’s Caesar salad which we could add anchovies too for a proper Caesar salad, overall we had a great experience and will certainly be back for a date night to try their small but broad menu for an adult date night again. I highly recommend this, but avoid the lobster bisque because I can make that with canned soup…..

Booking:
I reserved a couple tables for a birthday party for 16 people for my mother on 12/31/2024. I booked this party with Johnnys at least a month in advance. Johnnys had called me THAT MORNING to secure my reservation of 16 people and said they only had 8 down… I was in contact with them at least 4 times about my reservation through the month and the number was never 8. They had also said our tables were going to be separated but very close towards each other (we were okay with that and they did that 2 years prior as well) (why they do that - who knows).

The waiting:
I had got to the reservation and they told us they only had 8! People AGAIN, MIND YOU THEY CALLED ME THAT MORNING AND I TOLD THEM 16… when I voiced how frustrated because they called me that morning, (rightfully so..) I was not heard out and shut down by the hostess. When we were finally able to sit down, they told us only half of our party could sit down and the other half would have to be sat 15 minutes later…I asked why that is. I was immediately shut down by the hostess AGAIN and told that I was told that prior … when I was not. Mind you there is no sorry for the inconvenience or accommodations anything… they almost acted like us being there was an inconvenience to them for their mistakes and things I was not informed of. It had been about 12:20 pm(20 minutes into our reservation) and the other party was not sat down. (Why we had to wait - who knows again… the table was unused) and they were hardly next to us like I was told they would be. We had to yell across the restaurant to be able to be with our people.

The staff
When we were sat, again it seemed like we were inconveniencing them over asking questions. The male waitress we had was the only staff that was decent during this whole experience. The hostess and other waitress again acted like the party I reserved a month ago was an inconvenience to them.

Conclusion:
As being a waitress for many years, that’s not how you treat people especially when it’s someone’s birthday and all inconveniences being the staffs fault with petty rules.. we have had by mothers bday party for several years now and it appears like there are more rules every year for no reason ( mind you they were not busy). The food was good as usual but again it felt like just ordering it was an inconvenience to our waitress.

It was such a refreshing visit to Johnny's! Four of us visited for a small celebration, and we were looking for somewhere with great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. The night was nothing short of amazing. Service was everything one expected, and Kevin took our group on a food journey. His recommendations were exactly what each person was looking for. We were one table of many but never wondered where our server was, he was there when we needed him.
The food was all perfect, not a thing was wrong, really, every dish was different but everyone loved their choice.

Nothing special. I got the avacodo turkey sandwich and ratatouille. The sandwich was good but my bacon was hard and just crumbled , over cooked and there was minimal Avacodo on it. Their seasoned mayo was great. The ratatouille tasted like a can of tomato basil soup and then just topped with a slice of zucchini that was quartered , stewed tomatoes and three noodles- wasn’t impressed. My grandpa got the mushroom stroganoff, he said it was good but he would not make a trip just to get it. My grandmother got the Reuben sandwich which she liked a lot however she wasn’t impressed , she thought it would have more flavor. The bread we got for an appetizer came with the meal. The bread was warm moist and delicious, honesty it was my favorite part. Water and soda comes with the meal as well. Atmosphere is wonderful , clean place. Staff all seem very professional.

Been to Johnnys several times. The food has always been good. The service is “usually” good, and it was very good this time (thanks Jenny). We usually come for birthday celebrations. It’s expensive and we want to keep it special. We had made reservations and got seated right away.

You get warm and delicious Popovers as a free appetizer. We orders steaks, surf and turf, and lobster Mac n cheese. All were cooked exactly to order and flavorful. Sides including mixed veggies and potatoes were good.

They have terrific desserts and we all ordered our own. My molten chocolate cake was one of the best I’ve had.

My fourth time dining at this restaurant. We ordered the meat ball appetizers and ceasar and Iceberg salad. The reason for the food 3 star is someone in the kitchen was to heavy with the Salt on the meatballs and again at breakfast. In hindsight we should have sent the 2 meatballs orders back, but I was to hungry. Definitely would stop in again if I’m travelling through again.

My husband and I eat here often. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, the wait staff is very friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is very romantic and relaxed. I highly recommend the crusted goat cheese salad with the house made honey balsamic vinaigrette!

Do not buy their e-certificate gift cards. There's a glitch in their system that adds "To:" to the email you provide and the recipient will never receive it. Johnny's will not be able to help refund you nor will their managers be able to help resolve the issue other than tell you to call their 3rd party gift card, Heart of America. Unfortunately, they seem to be always busy and never pick up. I'll have to fix this with my credit card company.

Other than that, food is good, service is always excellent, and the atmosphere is alright.

This was a nice restraunt. It had a romantic atmosphere. Yet it was casual. The prices are definitely on the high end, so be prepared. The waitress we had was able to describe the menu choices, which I find helpful. We were each given a fresh popover, with plenty of butter to melt on it. Be sure to hold onto the butter to use on the dinner rolls.
We ordered the calamari. It was lightly battered and deep fried to perfection. It came with marinara and a house dipping sauce, I liked both.
We both ordered the ceasar salad. It was huge and had a great flavor. Neither of us finished the salad, saving room for the entries.
My wife ordered the Bucatini carbonara with shrimp, she thought it had good flavor. But could have used more sauce, it was a little dry. The shrimp was done perfectly.
I ordered a filled tips stroganoff. It was as good as I hoped for. Mine also was a little short sauce. It was supposed to have mushrooms, didn't have any. It tips were tough. And any stroganoff I've had has sourcream in it. I couldn't taste any. The rest of the meal was good, so it was disappointing. I suppose I should have returned it, but didn't feel like waiting.
Despite that, I really enjoyed the restraunt. Next time though Eau Claire, we will try it again.

*update* The pricing is completely absurd now. Portions are smaller than ever and quality is a miss more often than not. This was our favorite place but you can't even get a porter house anymore. 62 bucks for a steak that now tastes barely as good as something from Texas Roadhouse is highly disappointing. The service is still top notch but not good enough to justify the changes in portion sizes and quality.

Best food in town, the price is justified for a steak you can cut with a fork.

Business meetings for my husband meant that our 20-year-old grandson and I were able to join him for some relaxation and enjoyment. On the second evening, my grandson and I decided to order room service. The service we received, from the moment we placed our order until the food was delivered to our room, was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, and the presentation was equally impressive.

We had already begun eating before I remembered to take pictures.

Wonderful bar experience- great ambiance. Dinner was the best we’ve had in years. Sausage mushroom appetizer, rubeye, lobster bisque, salad, lobster risotto, shrimp, sirloin, ficoccia, popovers - all outstanding! Orange sunrise dessert was out of this world. Can’t wait to come back!

We had breakfast. I never see this omelet for salmon, cream cheese and spinach -(overall was not bad) because I thought the salmon will use fresh salmon. Love cheesy hash brown perfectly taste. My godson said love loves chocolate chips pancakes. He is actually enjoys his breakfast. I definitely come back for dinner since breakfast ✅
