We had bone on beef filet mignon and lobster tail. It was probably the best steak I ever tasted!

Everything about this place was wonderful. From being greeted by the hostess, to the fabulous bar service - the salad bar is second to none with amazing herring, cheeses and fresh salad fixings. What puts this place over the top was the entrées, the 8 Oz filet amazing, cooked perfectly tender and juicy.

Great wait staff beautiful room with a soft lit atmosphere. Just great!

Only thing great about this place was the salad bar. You can get a better steak for a much cheaper price at the chain steak restaurants. I came here about 25 years ago and everything is exactly the same for decor. I wonder how much grime is in all the carpet? Time to upgrade, should be able to afford it with how much it costs to dine there.

My wife and I have been coming here for over 20 years during our many visits to Praire. Tonight we came and I decided to try something different from my usual steak or shrimp. I ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu. To my surprise, I skinless chicken breast topped with a price of thin deli ham topped with a price of melted deli swiss cheese was delivered to the table. Folks, this is NOT Chicken Cordon Bleu, it Should be called a Skinless Seasonless Chicken Breast Topped with a Slice of Ham and Cheese, and at a price of $27.50. I did not eat it and did not take it with me. I explained to the waitress that it is not even close to Cordon Bleu and showed here pictures on my phone scrolling image after image of breaded, pounded Chicken with ham and melted cheese inside. She said 'sorry' and handed me the bill. It's not the waitresses fault, they should be trained to know how to handle situations like this. Talk to a manager, offer a dessert, take my name so a manager could call me, anything except 'sorry' and hand me the bill. It really is too bad because we always looked forward to our last evening in town, eating at the Angus. Unfortunately, after that very poor treatment, we will go elsewhere. Change your menu and train your employees. Enjoy

Online:
Full menu was shown with a WIDE variety. The low-light themed dining was expressed.

Reality:
Menu was on a sheet of paper, where even the beef cuts were labeled "Market Price" (MP).

Jones Black Angus (JBA) Restaurant:
Parking was adequate, & the bar opens early to accommodate cocktails before dinner.

First impression: It was a bit too dark inside, especially for anyone with any mobility concerns.
A couple of tap beers were on offer, as well as several bottled.
The cheese curds were fine & the beer was cold.
The bartender was friendly enough, although a bit loud.
(Someone called complaining about the cost of a recent seafood bill. So current patrons HAD to essentially listen to the whole business end of things right at the bar.)
I found that tacky, especially since one by one he "spoke" out to the servers to reiterate the MP aspect to diners.

I got to sit where I chose, but the booth was so tight.

Now reality set in; My original few choices were shot again with the sheet menu.

I ordered one of the three daily specials: Seafood Pasta with Alfredo.
The salad bar was good; I heard people agree they had expected 1000 dressing.
Soup was plentiful and hot. I thought the fresh cheese block was a nice touch. A loaf of bread was at the table.

The MEAL:
Snapped a photo, but I hadn't noticed the thin pasta sauce yet. (The lighting makes it look creamier.)
There was enough seafood in the dish but that couldn't carry the meal because there was very little taste overall.

I told my waitress: "Alfredo sauce is supposed to be thick & creamy" and certainly on the rich side.

Cream was almost non-existent, no garlic or Parmesan flavor I could detect.

It truly tasted like a few tablespoons of olive oil, a dab of butter, and minimal milk had made up the sauce.

You can find a 10x better Alfredo sauce at any grocer.

Waitress asked if I wanted to "try" something else.
I told her I was going to cut my losses. I waited tho to clarify. Since she never stopped back, it was certainly not clear if I would have pay extra $.

Conclusion:
Supper Clubs are few, and I gave this one a shot.
Yes. It's a Steak place... but at $42 (meal alone), patrons should have be able to enjoy their meal.

After my experience, (and what another patron phoned about) I don't like the idea of being deceived through a lack of 'mostly straightforward' pricing. No recourse for customer satisfaction only adds insult to injury.

We were visiting this lovely area for our anniversary and we wanted to celebrate with a nice dinner. This place did not disappoint. From beginning to end we had amazing service, fantastic food, perfectly made old fashioneds and a beautiful atmosphere. If you want a perfect supper club experience, you MUST go for dinner at the Jones Black Angus Supper Club! Thank you for making our anniversary special.

EDIT... YIKES !! IT TRULY IS BOTHERSOME THAT ANOTHER GUEST DID A RECENT REVIEW DETAILING HOW TACKY IT WAS THAT THE STAFF TALKED POORLY ABOUT A PHONE CALL I MADE SIMPLY ASKING WHY MY *SIDE* OF CRAB LEG WAS $90. So from 5 to 1 star this has to go. I genuinely was in shock by the price when I was going over my receipts. I didn't mention anything at the restaurant when I received my bill because I didn't want my father to get agitated. But, nevertheless still praised the restaurant in my original Google Review. I was very respectful speaking with the staff. Which, I talked to two different ladies and than finally the owner. Because the other ladies seemed not to agree with the quoted pricing. I ordered the Ribeye and asked if I could Turf it with a side of one leg. I knew the bill would be steep, but when they charged me the same price for the actual entire King Crab Entree that is where I was confused. I accept full responsibility that I should have just asked pricing. None of the prices are listed, again I didn't want to have my father throw a fit.
I completely left out the fact the staff definitely never cared about using vulgar language while eating there. The F word is a bit too much from employees. $200 was spent for 2 people, and no we don't drink alcohol so there's that. I agree with the review stating ALL STEAKS WERE MARKED (MARKET PRICE) on the menu is odd. I own a restaurant as well, and the only thing MP is Lobster and Crab. Just list the prices, it is Prairie not Green Bay dining
Unfortunately, this is my elderly father's favorite place to come and I drive 6 hours to take him. He is suffering from dementia and not sure how long he has. But, I'm hoping he doesn't remember this place anymore because I can no longer return after reading that review. Heartbreaking. Some business is not meant to be discussed around guests. Be better, do better.

l aways visit this restaurant when I come home to visit. We made early reservations, which is the way to go on the weekend. We were done with our visit by 6pm and the place was packed.
Service from the moment we opened the door was very nice. I always dress up coming here, but honestly no need to. Everyone comes as they are. The salad bar was one of the best I've seen in years. I bet if they did a special during the week many people would love just a salad and soup option. The main course was delicious. I did have the Angus Ribeye and King Crab leg. Definitely missing their delicious bread they use to serve, but there were two different bread options on the salad bar. The prices were a bit high for the area. I travel all over and also run a restaurant so I understand costs. I think the restaurant is definitely ready for a makeover. Carpet needs to go, the chairs are all one creak away from falling apart. I love the dark lighting, but I noticed everyone had to pull out their phones to read the menu. A simple fix by making the menu on white backdrop with larger writing would help. The kids bussing tables and keeping up on the salad area were doing such a great job.

Food was mediocre at best. Very expensive. Salad bar was good. Service was terrible. Asked for straws 3 times before getting. Was not asked how the food was until finished eating. Normally bring homemade bread to the table, we did not get any and was told if we were from here we would've known to ask for it. Asked for our bill to be split, wasn't done correctly. We had to go to the reguster to get it right. This restaurant was recommended by several people at the hotel where we stayed. I would NOT recommend.

THIS is the #1 supper club in Wisconsin, hands down. Ishnala has absolute zero on the Angus aside from maybe scenery. Why exactly? Unless you are the most seasoned of drinkers, one Old Fashioned from the Angus will have you feeling good for the rest of the night. That's how an Old Fashioned should be! Their salad bar is everything a salad bar should be (it boasts cracker, soup, cheese assortments). The menu is simple but has plenty of variety. The atmosphere is dark but that's what a supper club SHOULD have. By the way, if you go to a supper club but expect immediate seating, you're doing it wrong. The Angus has a great dining area but even better bar area that makes waiting for a table part of the experience. Aside from the TVs, there isn't anything in there prior to 1985. If you visit the Angus on a supper club tour, you can mark it complete. No need to visit elsewhere!

My husband and I were visiting from out of town this past weekend and saw the rave reviews for Jones Black Angus. The food was most definitely delicious, but more importantly was the service we received from Sara. She was exceptionally friendly, genuine, and professional. We liked her so much, we couldn’t help but return the next evening for dinner, but that was only if we could request her as our server. Such an outstanding experience on both nights!!! And the chocolate cheesecake was the best we’ve ever had!

My husband and I went here to celebrate our 18 year wedding anniversary. We went off nothing but a Google search of nearby supper club. As soon as we walked in we loved it and, to our delight, the evening kept getting better. Perfectly made old fashioneds, salad bar with fresh breadsticks and a wheel of Bleu cheese (among other delights). We started with the special appetizer - walleye cheeks and the menu item duck bacon wontons. Let me tell you, the duck bacon wontons alone are worth the trip! So good! My husband had the pork chop that was on special that came with mushroom ravioli while I had the scallops. 8 huge scallops that were easily top 5 I've had in my life (& that's saying A LOT!) We ended with a take home dessert of chocolate layered cake with peanut butter filling, which we ate the same night. I'm not much of a sweet eater, but thoroughly enjoyed the cake. The atmosphere was great. Service was great. Food was great. I hope we can make it back again soon!

And then the filet Minot mouth watering melt in your mouth with such rich flavor, and don't get me started on the lobster tail. The food is soooo out of this world! We travel quite a bit a bit around Wisconsin, and hands down this was the best food we've eaten. We got the filet and a special that was Shrimp Dijon with mushroom ravioli. This steak could literally be cut with a fork, and the au jus actually turned a steak sauce user into a believer! 10/10, wish it was next to our house in Neenah, Wi!

Food was very good. Salad bar was limited. A couple items ordered were on our bill at a different price. They also said we could get veggies as a side instead of potatoes except they didn't tell us that veggies would be an up charge. Finally, our waitress disappeared for quite a while, she said she had too many tables. For the price the services were poor.

Great service, great drinks, great food. Would get 5/5 except when they have fair prices on the menu then put "mp" for market price i was expecting maybe $50-100/plate, the bill comes for$350 for 2 people. Yes it was good with a good experience but it wasn't THAT good. Lesson learned i guess.

Dirty salad bar plate. Salt shaker holes were clogged. Salt was solid in the shakers. Nightly Special prices were unbelievably high. Ordered 2 steaks. 1 steak came out with 2 sides. They ran out of the steak we ordered. Had to have Prime rib instead. The first steak that came out was sent back to be cooked more. Still it was rare. We just then traded the food so we could just eat. There is more to tell, not enough space to write it all. The Bartenders are Awesome!

This was our 3rd time visiting. We went on a Tuesday and the place was quite busy.
I had the filet and lobster ravioli special. It was outstanding, the steak melted in my mouth.
My husband had the ribeye, one of the best ever, if not the best
The soup and salad bar are huge.
The staff were all working really hard. There were only two waitresses so everyone was helping.
Delicious lemon cake for dessert.
We really enjoyed our meal and are already looking forward to the next visit.
Only 1 minor complaint which was the lighting. It was so dark at our table that we had to use our phone flashlight to read the menu.

Wait staff is friendly and attentive to your needs, food was way overpriced. Lobster on the seafood platter was tough and chewy and at $129.00 I would expect it to be perfect. This place is way overpriced for what you get. Ordered the Saturday prime rib special and added king crab legs and was charged $85 for two crab legs. My wife and my bill was $351.00. We went to Vegas and 4 of us ate at Gordon Ramsays Hells Kitchen for that. I can get the same seafood closer to home and not pay half as much and it’s better quality and cooked to perfection. Will never visit this place again.

The food was crab legs were okay, not worth $80 for 2, and the filet mignon was FANTASTIC! It melted in my mouth and was cooked to perfection! The mashed potatoes are to die for!! We had the scallops for an appetizer and those were delicious! I had a jalapeño margarita and I absolutely loved it. My hubby had a brandy old fashioned and that was delicious as well. The Oreo cheesecake was awesome and was a big slice. The prices here are a little steep for what I thought we should have had to pay but it was an overall good experience.

We have been going to the Black Angus for almost 15 years. Always been great food and great service. But, this past weekend makes me rethink going. We paid $232.00 for 2 drinks, 2 salad bars, 2 cheesecakes, 1 fillet migon and 1 captains seafood platter. This is not New York. I understand food prices have gone up. We raise beef and see the prices. But, the total for the meal was outrageous!!!! If money is not an object then come here.

The Angus is an institution in The Driftless, but the food doesn't warrant it. The atmosphere is dim and subdued, which I want in a supper club. There are nice booths if you can snag one. The bar is terrific with cushy swivel chairs. The service is top-notch. The salad bar is a traditional Midwestern delight with macaroni salad, three types of greens, lots of toppings, and great cheese. The soup isn't remarkable. The food is where they fail. Everything is over salted. The crab was mushy, lobster was HAMMERED (I had to saw through it with a knife), shrimp the same, and scallops were unevenly cooked. The halibut was cooked well but overpowered by salt. Their steaks are good, except for the salt, and for the price of them, I'd rather cook at home. Regarding the prices...at $25-50/ plate, I expect nice glassware (not pint glasses) and plates that fit the food and look like they belong together. I also expect the place to be dusted and for Christmas to be taken down by February.

In the past, this venue was decent, as for our most recent experience, not so much.

The GOOD: salad bar is included with your meal, which has a lot of different options including soup. Portion sizes for our entrees were decent. Our server was friendly and attentive. We got our food pretty quickly. Environment was nice, more of a romantic vibe, candles lit on the table, dim lighting, old school Sinatra music playing.

The BAD: This establishment has more of a limited menu compared to other supper clubs we have been to in WI. We ordered the cheese curds as an app, which had most of the cheese cooked out of it and was mostly breading. We ordered 2 of the cheaper options on the menu, the parmesan chicken and the Canadian walleye. We were offered which side to pick among 3 options, a veggie, potato, or one other option I can't recall. We both chose the veggie option. No where on the menu or did our server say that to do this would be an upcharge of $3 per person to do so. The main entrees tasted fine, nothing special. We did not have anything to drink besides water and the bill was almost $85. (We wanted to do steak, but they sell their beef options with Market Pricing and the cheapest option was the NY strip at $45.) Going into this we knew it would be a pricier meal, but for what we got we don't think it was worth what we paid.

Our biggest issues from this establishment were non food related. We had made reservations for 8pm with the restaurant saying it closes at 10, they accepted the reservation without problems. When we arrived, there were still tables of people in the place. We got served our dinner around 8:30pm, and by about 8:40pm and the staff were cleaning up everything around us. Taking down the salad bar, getting the vacuum out, they switched the music from the classical Sinatra vibe to today's stuff. It made us feel rushed to eat and get out of there because that is what it seemed they were trying to do. Lastly, when we went to leave, we took maybe 3 steps outside of the door before we heard the door lock behind us. I get you want to get out of work when it is not busy, but when you advertise being open until 10 and openly accept an 8pm reservation, at least wait until the customer is done dining before you call it a night and start cleaning up all around them. It was not the most welcoming dining experience in that aspect.

Dinner was. Amazing! My wife had salmon with crab atop grilled asparagus with and steamed fresh vegetables. I had a grilled bone in pork chop seasoned with Buffalo Trace seasoning and a Buffalo Trace (bourbon) glaze with mushroom ravioli. These entrees were prepared to protection. The Berkshire pork chop was probably the best grilled protein I have ever eaten. The chef prepares the grilled proteins in the dining room behind a plexiglass shield. I was able to speak directly with him about the process and the preparation of our meals.
The salad bar is hands down the best in the area. Starting with the salad plates being kept in a refrigerated container beside the salad bar ensuring everything on your plate stays crisp and refreshing. The selection rivals any salad bar currently in operation in LaCrosse. Hot bread, multiple soup options, and a selection of fresh cheese that you cut from the block. Protein servings were very large and the wait staff is well trained and attentive without being bothersome. There is no doubt we will make the return trip from LaCrosse to enjoy this experience again.

Amazing dining experience! Our waitress Carlee was extremely polite and prompt with service., and had answers for every question we had. We started with drinks, I ordered a Dirty Shirley and my date ordered the Spotted Cow on tap. Dirty Shirley was very stiff but good, draft Spotted Cow was very good - I liked it and I don’t even like beer.
We ordered appetizers first and got the cheese curds and oysters. Oysters were very fresh and came with lemon and cocktail sauce. Cheese curds were delicious, warm and super creamy with the best breading I’ve ever had.
The salad bar was outstanding, and included tons of toppings, three different kinds of greens, deli salads, two different soups, and a gorgeous cheese and crackers board at the end. Plates are kept chilled which was a wonderful detail!
I ordered the angus black ribeye with Parmesan garlic butter and a loaded baked potato, and my date ordered the New York strip with sautéed mushrooms and a loaded baked potato. The food was all incredible. The steaks were cooked perfectly to temperature and came with a delicious au jus for dipping. Baked potatoes were cooked very well and came with all the best toppings, but a bit too filling after the salad bar and appetizers. We definitely had leftovers!
Final bill came to about $160 including tip. A bit expensive, but reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food we got. The atmosphere was wonderful, classy and romantic but not stuffy. Bar had hundreds of options for liquor, especially scotch, whiskey, and bourbon. Overall incredible experience and will definitely be back. Carlee was great and we would love to have her as a server again!

This establishment is an old school supper club! I had the Ribeye and cooked to perfection, while the gf's surf n turf was spot on! The Scallops were seared to perfection! The salad bar is dangerous cause you might over indulge it! Wish I would've had room dor dessert!

If you are ever in Prairie du Chein and you are looking for a great supper club experience, you have to stop at Jones Black Angus. They have a fantastic soup and salad bar, great brandy old fashioned and excellent steaks. Our server Alexus was awesome. I suggest the steak Oscar with the garlic parmesan mashed potatoes and the steak enhancer brandy sautéed mushrooms!

I've been going to Jone's Black Angus every year we are on vacation, and it never stops impressing my wife and I. Being from Milwaukee, there are plenty of great steak houses, but the ones with the classy supper club style are few.

We ordered 3 prime rib dinners. They were very tough, so tough you could barely cut them. Salad bar was great. Spinach artichoke dip was great. We complained and they said there was nothing they could do. $20 off per bill would have been great. They offered to give us a cut to take.... it was horrible to begin with, we would we want more. We will never be back $240 bill.

We were visiting Prairie du Chien and looking for a supper club. What a great place! A salad and soup bar is included. I had the pork chops which was so tender! My wife had the bluegill filets. A great meal, great service and a fair price. Definitely recommend.

After coming to Jones's Black Angus many times over the years, the likelihood hood of us coming back is now questionable. Last night we were seated next to a couple with a dog. Not a seeing eye dog but a small dog. People around us were obviously irritated too, the shaking of heads, the eye rolls, the glaring, okay maybe it's a so called "service dog"; but the thing that topped it off was the waitress (don't know her name, had long brunette braided ponytail and left arm length tattoo) started petting this animal, and letting it lick her hands, while the dog was doing it's full body shakes the way dogs do, letting dog hair fly about. I wonder: did that waitress at least wash her hands afterwards? With soap? Our food and waitress were very good but I doubt we'll be back after this. That is unless our "service ('comfort' cough-cough) animal" who is a goat, will be welcome.

The meal starts with a nice salad bar, altho the beer cheese soup lacked flavor. It ran out right be4 we got to it, and it took them a good 15 minutes or more to replace it. Filet mignon OK, Oscar upgrade not worth it. The walleye was absolutely terrible. The nice piece of fish was ruined by a breading that was so salty we had to pick it off. You could literally see flecks of salt sitting on top of the crust. Honestly, we should have sent it back. Decent loaf hot bread, very good baked potato. Decent wine list. Service pace a bit off. Very dark inside.

*waitress act led like it was to much effort to give us the un-posted price of the food specials. Apparently we were just supposed to order without that information.

We were passing through and decided to stop on Saturday night. Super people. I asked how they make their cosmo and Kimmy from the bar came over and she was happy to make it with cointreau instead of triple sec. Bigger glasses too, drink was perfect. Tami was our server and was so nice. Food, superb. Big salad bar with cheese to cut, bread sticks, lots of choices for toppings and cold salads. 3 different greens. Soup included. I had the pan fried blue gill and my boyfriend had prime rib. Man, I really loved this supper club! I will return. Thanks so much!

This was our first time at this supper club and it was excellent from start to finish. The service was friendly and fast and the vibe made me feel like family. Loved the salad bar from cooler to keep plates chilled to the blocks of cheese, specifically bleu cheese! Our entrees were delicious and the Old Fashioneds were PERFECTION! Even the after dinner icecream drink was the perfect amount. Hands down - amazing! We are in town one more night and are likely to go again before we leave.

I'm super excited about the Bone in ribeye, It tasted amazing It was prepared amazing. However, the quality of the meat that they use horrible. It was so damn tough and chewy piece of meat I didn't even finish half of it. No fault of the cook, It's just the quality of the meat they use. The scallops tastes amazing They were just super chewy. I don't want to work to eat my dinner Great little salad bar wonderful people just don't get the ribeye

This was our first trip to Black Angus and we notable were not prepared as we just walked in during supper hours on a Friday night. The host staff was super friendly and welcoming and we apologized for not having a reservation and they didn't make us feel bad at all and seated us asap. As soon as we were seated, we were welcomed by Brianne C. She was the most welcoming and kind server! She made us feel confident in our choices and never made us feel rushed during the Friday night buzz. The food was fantastic and the gentleman keeping the salad bar stocked was fantastic! We were seated right next to it and he made sure that nothing was low on stock! It was a fantastic experience overall and I just can't thank the entire staff enough for such a great Friday night with my sister who came to town for a girls weekend.

We were here recently and had another great experience. We were celebrating our anniversary. We chose going on Wednesday night so I could have the AYCE Shrimp special. The hostess was wonderful! We sat at the bar and the bartenders were dropping f-bombs, so we didn’t stay at the bar long. A supper club is not the place for that! Once seated it took awhile for our waitress to come to us. Once she did, she asked if we were ready to order. No one offered us the specials or prices, so we had to ask. No offer or explanation for the toppings for the steak. The salad bar was very nice!! We were not offered dessert, we felt very rushed. Waitress had no time for us, what so ever. Our prime rib was done well! Probably wouldn’t go back….

To be brutally honest as usual. The Easter buffet was horrible. The cheesy hashbrowns tasted like salt and nothing. The peppers on the salad bar were partially frozen at one time the radishes taste like water. The salad dressings were wattered down. The biscuits were at least two days old. The gravy was watered down and lacking sugar for the biscuits and gravy. The minute stack was hard as o rock. The mashed potatoes were salty. The gravy was watered down. The prime rib was good. The turkey was dry but had flavor. The corn tasted like nothing. The bacon was greasy, mushy, yet looked crispy. There is so much more, but you get the point. Do not eat here it is bad. Twin springs in decorah is far and above the best choice for a steak house.

The food and drinks here were phenomenal! The men got steaks, which they both said were amazing. I got the seafood pasta, and can truly say that it was the best seafood I've ever had. The noodles were a bit overcooked, but it was still really good. My mother in law got chicken Parm which she said was good as well, same comment about the noodles being overcooked. I don’t normally write restaurant reviews, but it’s not everyday I spend big money on a meal I cannot eat. I ordered the wagyu sirloin, what I got was an over cooked hamburger patty. Although I was disappointed in my meal, my partner said her filet mignon was very good.

The service was subpar. The waitress was slow to refill drinks ,and only provided us with the bread that came with the meal after we asked.

Attempted to dine this NY Eve-
Waited @ bar 15 min. To get drinks(only served then because I called down bartender)
Seated to dine 6:15, sat @ table 15 min., no acknowledgement from staff.
I finally said "excuse me, could we please get some water?"
Served water, no order taken?
We finally got up & served ourselves salad bar? Hungry!
No waitress Ever.
We went to cashier, explained & paid for salad bar.
No Dinner. Happy NY Eve.
Our last trip there, drove 2+ hours to dine/hotel stay?
Extremely short staffed & miserable service.
