We came in and sat at a table in the bar. The person who was supposed to be serving just didn't. He literally left everyone sitting with no water, no menus, no service . We waited 20 minutes before leaving the bar area and getting a table. Others walked out all together. I felt like it was xeliverate so they didn't have to give us happy hour prices. We asked for service multiple times and we were ignored. Once in the restaurant it was fine. I had the chimmechonga (spelling?). They can't seem to get those right. I asked for it to be fried well and crispy as I always do. And it came back soft and soggy like it always does. Honestly the only thing I really think they do well is the table side guac.

I am overall quite disappointed by my experience here. My family and I came here to enjoy a nice family dinner. When we were seated our waitress was very kind and she took our orders.

We ordered the guacamole and when the lady came to make it afterwards she left us with no plates or chips to enjoy the dip with. Our waitress never came back and we had to ask another to give us some chips and plates.

The guacamole was very good and was definitely the best part about it. Our food came and my brothers never arrived and was forgotten. We had to ask another waitress to check up on his food after 5 minutes of no one giving it to us.

As a vegetarian I asked for a burrito with beans and the menu stated thought it would come with lettuce pico de gallo and cheese. When it arrived The only thing in the burrito was refried beans and cheese on top with all of the other toppings that were listed in the menu on the side. ALONG with a bile a refried beans.

It was very disappointing. And the services was awful.

It breaks my heart to put this review. The value, potion and price is not worth it. I bragged about this place for years. I just went again 6/27/2025 I ordered a burrito and tostada. If I got two table spoons of shredded beef total for both I maybe being kind. Salsa not the same. Sad. I won't be going back but I did find a decent place at pabst farms you get what you pay for. Blue your prices sky rocketed value lowered. Thought you appreciate your customers guess not.

We ( party of 4) were here on Saturday 6:00PM. The restaurant was busy, but had overly busy. We were greeted quickly and seated right away. The server introduced herself right away, offered to get drinks and give us a menu. The drinks arrived quickly . She took our food order promptly. A server delivered absolutely wonderful Warm chips And excellent salsa. Our entries arrived at just the right time. I had three steak tacos, rice and beans. THEY WERE EXCELLENT.. everyone else is entrées looked great, and my friends said they tasted as good as they looked.. I'm always impressed by the wonderful service here. They are always pleasant and I've never had bad service.The food is always excellent. It's a good thing. I don't live nearby because I'd be here WAY too often.!

I have to say the food and service here are excellent! The food is superior to the wide majority of Mexican restaurants in my opinion. The guacamole is made fresh at your table and is delicious. Most of the food is flavorful, fresh and well seasoned without necessarily being spicy. Their happy hour from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. includes snack plates for less than four bucks a piece and they are bigger than expected although you are not able to take any leftovers home. It is dimly lit with music playing but not so loud as to limit conversation. The bar area has TVs but the dining area feels more subdued. The bartenders and wait staff all were very courteous and friendly. I would truly recommend it all the way around!

Cute Tex Mex style restaurant. We came on a Monday night by chance when they had the taco special, so our dinner was decently affordable. We had the Idaho Collides with Juarez - think potato skins with protein. We had it with hamburger, but I think I would go with the pulled beef or pork instead. And then we also had the Gringo Stay in your Lane tacos with pulled beef. Those were a bit tastier.
Chips came to every table, and ours came warm, which was nice. We did see a lot of the fresh guacamole made table side and that may be worth ordering.
When weather permits, there is a cute patio space to dine at outdoors. Service was good. When in the mood for TexMex this is a decent option.

The food itself was excellent. Our waiter must have been new, because he was terrible. He got our order wrong and never checked on us once. I ordered a drink, and he never came by to ask if I wanted another. He said virtually nothing to us the entire time.

The only difference in flavor between the chicken and the steak was that the chicken tasted like brown shoe leather and the steak tasted like black shoe leather. Tough, tasteless, uninspiring dinner. I go to Jose’s on a regular basis, But usually have the enchiladas. The fajitas tonight were one of the worst meals I’ve had in years. Actually had to ask for salt from the bartender to try to get a little flavor out of my dinner.

Was our new Favorite Mexican restaurant in the Northshore area. The service could be a little more prompt and unfortunately I will never go here EVER again. My 12yr old daughter and I wanted to sit in the bar area because we wanted to watch the bucks game. We we're told since it was happy hour that their rule was no minors we're allowed in the bar area during happy. Never in my life have I heard of any establishment having a idiotic rule like this. There we're a handful of tables in the bar area and plenty of seats available at the bar. My son ordered a medium rare burger and got a very thin dry burger. He even said it was the driest burger he's ever had and asked for more sauce to put on it. We were charged $2.50 for a dollop of sauce and took so long his burger was cold by the time the sauce arrived. However, My tacos were good and waitress was friendly. Jose's has long been our family favorite with our dining in 2-3 times a month. We recently moved out of the city and hadn't been in for a while. We came into town last night and immediately went to Jose's for dinner. New menus with higher prices were not a surprise. The quality of my food was. I always have the Huracan surf and turf burrito as I really like it. It was full of beef and shrimp and delicious. Last night the burrito was the same size as always, but the beef was definitely not the same quality, nor was it was it as filled. This burrito was filled with a small amount of beef, 3 shrimp, a huge handful of cheese (way more than usual), and had a double layer of tortilla running through the center as a filler (which was never there before). It also had so much cilantro that that was all I tasted. I can honestly say that I've had better burritos out of a taco truck.
Service was also not great. The restaurant was pretty empty when we came in. Once seated we waited almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged, and that was after the party that came in after us in the same area placed their drink orders.
All in all, if the margarita had not been good I would have left one star. Hopefully this was a one time error and I will try again. Please don't disappoint twice.

My second visit to this location. Both times, the entrées were meh. Two of us had fajitas, which were more spicy than they should have been and not very flavorful. A friend's mole was not up to par either. Food was not awesome, not awful. The tableside guacamole on my first visit, however, was stellar. And the chips and salsa, especially the salsa, were terrific! Our server was lovely. Despite the open doorway, the back room is fairly private and could sit 8-10 comfortably. But I didn't care for the closing time routine. Our group was having so much fun, we didn't realize how late it had become. Instead of a gentle reminder from our server, they kept messing with the lighting. At first, we didn't realize what was going on. Then, they did almost total lights out and subsequently turned them back up. Kind of childish. A simple reminder would have been much more professional. One thing that makes this place worthwhile: birthdays. They really do it up here. I would return for a birthday or if the rest of my group chose Jose's, but I will not return on my own.

Today I visited Jose’s Blue Sombrero in Fox Point for happy hour wanted some drinks and great food. Arriving there the exterior of the building was very nice, very inviting. The interior also was quite nice for its class of restaurant as well. It gave a little log cabin vibe. However, food turned out to be mediocre at best. I ordered the chicken nachos and a couple ground beef tacos. The chicken for the nachos was extremely bland. It tasted like literally nothing. Also the tacos flower tortillas not even warm just completely raw and the ground beef was also extremely boring. The drinks were fine. Nothing out the ordinary or many establishments house margaritas. The worst part is we were expecting happy hour prices. We came in and was given the option to sit at a booth when we clearly stated to the host with excitement that we were here for happy hour. When we got the bill it’s more than 50% more than what we were expecting to spend and on the receipt was the first time we seen that it was (BAR ONLY) for happy hour prices, the manager mentioned that it was posted outside however when we left we noticed it was in super small print. The manager also claimed she understood our concerns and was going give us the happy pricing yet all she did was give one drink for free saving us a mere $7. I feel like happy hour is a façade and a way to get people in the door with misleading tacks. This place is completely smoke and mirrors and I won’t be returning.

The food was good. The service wasn't great. We waited for someone to seat us and finally just sat in the bar area. Water tasted funky.
