Kewpee serves a hamburger that pound for pound is one of the beefiest tasting burgers I’ve had. Simple toppings but the flavors just come together. That griddle works magic. Do not miss out on the chili, REAL homemade flavor with nice chunks of meat and tomato. Perfectly cooked fries, nice portion. I also tried the fish sandwich for the first time and although it wasn’t fancy, it was piping hot and crispy and didn’t have any metallic taste like a McDonalds fillet o fish. I’m getting it again for sure because I like following a cheeseburger with a fish sandwich. Finally don’t forget the root beer, which is nice and smooth, great balance between the licorice and molasses flavors. Perfect amount of carbonation. The place is often very busy, even on weekdays. Bring cash.

I’m super disappointed in my visit today. My husband and I were finally able to take our 2 year old daughter for her first Kewpee visit. Upon arriving, they had signs up indicating they would not be doing table service and to order at the front. Not the worst thing, the employee working the register was very nice and I had no problem with placing an order. It’s the actual food that was the problem. We ordered 5 burgers, 3 root beers and 2 fries. Each one of the burgers were flavorless and tastes like you were licking a greasy grill. The fries are always great, no complaints there. One of my biggest disappointments was the root beer. It was basically flavorless and wasn’t even served in glass mugs! I don’t know if it was the styrofoam cup making the root beer taste different or what, but it was just sad all around. We’re all at home now with stomach aches. I’m so saddened that this is what Kewpee is now.

19 people inside, seven people eating, six sitting at the dinner waiting for food. Six people standing waiting for food. About five employees plus the owner that kinda grilling buns and watching the burger cook. The burger cook has 20 burgers that are done and drying out on right side of the grill while cooking another 20 burgers. Hardly and burgers are going out in a fifteen minute time span to the people waiting for food. Hey owner have some leadership and stop being the bun boy! Burgers were dry of course. No seasons on the burger, not even salt an pepper. Fries were good. I miss the old owner because this place sucks!

Want to give Kewpees 5 stars, but I can’t. They are never open during their posted hours. My partner and I have tried to come here 5 seperate times and only were able to eat there once. You will drive here to be met with a big “closed” sign in the door.

It’s 11:30 am on a Saturday they claim to be open til 2pm. I will not be wasting any more of my time attempting to eat here.

The staff are SUPER friendly & hard working! Our server was great! We watched the cook making our burgers, which were delicious. We're from out of town and always try to make the pilgrimage to Kewpee's. This place is a time capsule in the best sense of the word. Every visit is like your first, it never changes and it never should, a piece of burger history frozen in time down to the employee uniforms, tile floors, and the stainless steel counters surrounded by built in stools. Holy smokes Racine!! Where can anyone get a burger for under $5 these days?! You can here! Get a double burger for less than $5. They only take cash, so be prepared or use the ATM inside. Menu is super small, that usually means it’s good and that was the case here. Just burgers mostly. Served quick, homemade root beer which was delicious. I’ll be back for sure. Kewpees Burgers are the best. Unfortunately, staffing and inconsistent hours make it impossible for me to stop here unless I am right in the neighborhood. I say that because I went specifically there for Kewpies and they were closed. This has happen several times when business should be open. website and phone on is useless . So just go there alot less.
I say Pay a few reliables to keep the ship running on time. At minimum communication with customers shows you care. We all know staffing can be an issue but Management needs to be in charge of the total business and figure it out.
This situation is not unique to me. Apparently they don't really give a damn.
