Super cute place, amazingly friendly and attentive staff, and outstanding food! Ryan was our server and did an awesome job. Everything was delicious! And I'd be remiss not to mention my appreciation for the mocktails! A birthday celebration looks different during pregnancy but the N/A old fashioned tasted spot on like the real thing and perfectly balanced. My only complaint is that I couldn't buy some to take home! :)

Let me tell you-- this place is definitely on the list to go back to! We had 5 hungry men in our group from shooting an archery event all day up and down the ski slopes on a hot summer day. We heard about this place but they sggested calling for a reservation. We did, and the owner skillfully got us in but reminded us they closed at 8. We got there at 7:25pm :) The table already had menues on it, and the staff was right there to take drink orders. We placed our orders, thanfully before they ran out of the good stuff. out of 5, 2 had short rib stroghanoff, 2 had pork ribs and I had salmon . The salads and soups came out quickly, and we barely had timeto breathe before the entrees were out as well. The kitchen was quick! but they certainly didn't phone in making the food. First bites and all of us were making happy noises into our food. The plates-- huge so that means the portions fit the plates. If you walk away hungry it certainly wont't be because of portion size. The prices were in line with any other restaurant of average caliber, so bang for the buck you sure got a deal at this place. Way more food than those other places in a similar price range. again- the 5 of us, with 2 alcohol drinks each and simila entrees we spent less than $250, with tip. Id say that's a darn good deal

Home-cooked food and a small intimate atmosphere. Mood lighting with scenic photographs on the walls. It was like entering a small log cabin. The front porch and main entrance door is handcrafted. The menu is on a chalkboard and they had lots of a variety of food from a duck to multiple fishes and buffalo. I ended up getting a loaded baked potato, which was absolutely delicious. The kids menu was perfect. The portion sizes were perfect with a small ice cream at the end and the price for meals were great.
On their Facebook page, they asked for groups over five people or more. Please call for a reservation which we did and they were able to see this within 15 minutes..

I gave Kimball Inn a 5 star on atmosphere, but don’t be misled, this is not a fancy white table cloth, candle lit atmosphere. It’s an authentic Wisconsin supper club sort of place with plenty of friendly smiles and great service. Don’t expect them to decant your wine but I can assure you they will happily discuss all options—beer, wine or a hardy Old Fashioned.

Very busy restaurant with great menu items. There were 10 specials the night we ate there.
Everyone really loved their food. But they only take reservations for six or more ppl. So show up very early or wait 45 minutes to an hour. The bar area can be quite noisy, also.

We've eaten there about four times. Next time I'm going early in the afternoon in the summer to get a table away from the entrance and bar.

If you are a little curious, just go. You won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere and food were excellent. We enjoyed delicious drinks at the bar before dining. The cabin-like setting is very comfy. After perusing the menu, we ordered a couple of the specials. When we pulled up they weren't open yet and there was a line. We got in line and waited for 15 minutes until opening time. We were eaten alive by mosquitoes. The door opened and we were part of the first 20 people in the door. We were in line waiting to be seated. We were next to be seated when we saw the bar was open. We knew we were ordering take-out so instead of taking up table space we went and sat at the bar and waited for menus to order. The server walked over to serve the couple that was sitting at the bar next to us. She told him that we were there first. We told him we were just ordering take-out and he brought us over some menus. Eventually he comes back to take our order when the bartender speaks up and says "there will be no take-out tonight. All it does is clog up our kitchen with orders and takes away from the people who actually came here to eat." I explained to her that we had never eaten there before and we didn't know that. At this point there are 0 tables available and an hour long wait for 1. We gathered our things and left. The website is messy. I saw nothing that said there was no take-out. We drove 30 minutes, were eaten by mosquitoes for 15 minutes. We waited patiently along with everyone else. They could have at least been FRIENDLY when they turned us away. Delivering a disappointing message in a rude tone isn't going to produce happy customers.....

We had a pretty unfortunate experience at this restaurant while briefly visiting town.

• Aggregious Wait Time: The party of over 12 ahead of us was promised a 30-minute wait. We were given no wait time, but I guess 30 minutes? We weren't seated for an hour due to some sort of mix-up. This meant we arrived at 6:30 and weren't seated until 7:30.
• Late seating causing low inventory: I was kind of a wreck that I wouldn't be able to get Prime rib, but I came in right under the wire and got the last one. Crisis averted.
• More waiting: While my salad came almost immediately, we waited quite a long time for my husband's wings (an appetizer), my glass of wine (I had to ask for it a second time), and watched two tables seated after us get their main entrees before we did.
• Unprofessional atmosphere and management: To top it all off, as the restaurant closed around us (again, we arrived at 630), one employee (manager? Owner?) sat down with some family also in the bar area, and they all loudly and raucously carried on for somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes.

Bad luck for us tonight at Kimball Inn, it seems. If you're not a local, you'll feel that. It had "opening weekend" vibes and corresponding sloppiness, not what you'd expect from an established restaurant. As you can imagine, all of this overshadowed the food.

What a great hidden jem in the north woods of Wisconsin. Their menu is impressive and they have a wide variety to accommodate any diet. The staff was great. They knew the menu and were helpful in navigating it for vegan options. The food was phenomenal. I had a delicious tofu and veggies; my dining partners had duck wings, seafood chowder, Friday fish fry and a mushroom garlic chicken with Mac and cheese. It was all amazing! I’m highly recommend and would go back!

I was staying in Ironwood, MI for business (just across the Wisconsin border) and my first night there I had a bad dining experience in town and wanted to try something elsewhere. This place popped up with a high rating on Google and was a short distance away so I gave it a try. Im so glad I did! I cannot believe the quality of seafood they had and the other food was top notch as well. They were incredibly busy Friday night and I had to be seated at the bar which was no problem because I was still helped in a timely manner and the food was just fantastic and fresh and also plentiful for the price. That, and Shelly the bartender was so nice that I decided to come back the next night as well, and she and the food were just as great as the night before. Great specials menu (and regular menu!) and stiff drinks to boot. I wish I had known about the boozy milkshakes they offer the first night I came in and that is my only complaint. Come early if it’s a weekend or you’ll have a wait! Very grateful that this was my first experience in Wisconsin, couldn’t recommend more.

Everything was amazing! The calamari was so good I contemplated ordering a second. The chopped steak burger was cooked perfectly a 1/2 pound of greatness. The service was phenomenal as well. My wife and I recently went here and have had positive experiences in the past. This time, the food wasn't quite the same quality as it used to be. I ordered the prime rib steak and it was good, also the spicy Chilli, which wasn't that spicy and only Luke warm.

Someone in our party ordered the Cajun chicken, and it tasted more like Italian seasoning than Cajun.

It's unfortunate the quality isn't quite the same as when Mike operated this establishment.

We went to Kimball Inn for the prime rib. It was 730 at night when we were seated and they were "out" of prime. I was disappointed, however, the restaurant closes at 8.

We both had the porterhouse steak instead. My soup was luke warm, the steak was good (average), the baked potatoe was over cooked, but again they were closing. We felt rushed to leave, as they were closing while we were eating.

I think our experience would have been much different if we had arrived at 5pm. But the wait time for a table is over an hour at 5pm, Ave reservations are only allowed if you have 6 or more in your party, this is why we waited until later in the evening to go.

I'm not sure I'll visit again, the place is very small and waiting over an hour would be uncomfortable and crowded, and later in the evening is like the same food and service I could get at 5pm, especially for the price we paid. Given the long wait I'm sure it's phenomenal at 5pm.

Best food in the area for price, flavor and quality... The atmosphere is probably a 3 / 5 - dark & can be loud but clean and well kept. Due to short staffing, the wait time can be quite long but as everyone will say, the food is worth the wait. We dined there two nights in a row and tried several entrees. The only one that wasn't exceptional was the steak (totally lacking in flavor) but the friend mozzarella and schnitzel were AMAZING. They have a good thing going here.

I had lake superior whitefish, my wife had sea scallops. Both were perfectly prepared and very tasty.

I also had the "spicy chili" as one of my sides. To my delight, there was actually some spice; not enough to hurt, but enough to let you know it's there.

If you happen to be in the area, stop and have a meal. You won't be disappointed.

We were part of a party of 12 for a small wedding and they rolled out the red carpet. The food was hot and fresh. We had a great time with fabulous food and service. It's hard to decide what to order when everything is so good! My wife and I had the duck, it was tender, moist and full of flavor. My daughter had steak and scallops. The steak was cooked perfectly, charred outside and rare inside, the scallops tender and juicy. Her boyfriend had the schnitzel and loved it.

Fantastic. Reviews are pretty spot on. You will not leave remotely hungry. Even without appetizer. I opted for the schnitzel, as it's harder to find than steak. I was not disappointed. But, upon waking into building, the smell of steak was mouthwatering. Portion was huge, and delicious. Up here for work, so odds of returning to the area are low, but of I do...first place I'm making sure I get back to. Place is small, abd I was there on a Thursday night. Was driving through needed dinner and decided to stop. We were skeptical the white fish would be good. We have been to many places and the fish tends to be either great or sub par. This place did not disappoint every course was excellent. Had the oysters, french onion, rock fish, white fish, raspberry bread pudding and lemon tart. The waitress treated us as family. We decided to go to Kimball Inn this week for our anniversary. The first time we've had a babysitter in 3.5 years so our first nice quiet dinner! The wild caught salmon (not blackened) was PHENOMENAL. I'm from Alaska and grew up along the Kenai River - I can eat Salmon for every meal. Kimball Inn is the first place locally that doesn't overcook or overseason AND they don't carry farm raised salmon. It was perfect! The margarita is now my new local favorite drink. And the bleu cheese dressing was sooo goooddd.

What a great restaurant! Probably one of the tastiest meals I've ever had. They were extremely accommodating to our group of 7 during covid. We will definitely be back whenever we're skiing in the area.

I ordered the prime rib and the Beef Barley soup. Both were amazing!! My husband is a really good cook and we are not super impressed by restaurant food too often. We highly recommend the Kimball Inn though!! Their prime rib and soup were the best food I have had in a long time! The “Queen” size prime rib was huge too!! The service was really wonderful as well! We had the sweetest waitress. We will be sure to visit them again the next time we are in Hurley!
