We stopped on a Sunday at almost closing time and bartender George was unrushed and all smiles and charm. He was quick to boast about the history and origins of Knowlton House. Bringing back my college freshman daughter to meet him! Oh yeah, ambience beer and cocktails were 10 out of 10!!!!

Hmmm...My wife and I having loved the place on two previous occasions decided to invite a friend for brunch. We'd had an exceptional experience the week before. My wife decided we should join a group of her family that just by chance were dining on the back patio on the far side of the distillery. Poor choice. That area is self-serve with bench seating, a large screen TV, and a very uncomfortable level of informality. There were several people with several dogs in the dining area. The bar wasn't busy. Though I was directly in front of him one bartender ignored me preoccupied with glassware. I was unable to get his attention. The second bartender took our order. When it came time to pay he'd put us on someone else's tab. The young staff seemed very inexperienced, operating without supervision. This was a 180 from the week previous. Avoid uncomfortable bench tables, sketchy service and dogs. The area immediately as you enter and the front patio have an entirely different level of (wonderful) service.

What a fabulous experience here! The bartender Luke was so great and made us delicious cocktails and let us take photos of the stills! This place has such a great, vintage vibe inside and showcases the best that Wisconsin has to offer! The tasting flight was such a great way to sample all of the offerings and then the meatloaf was SO tasty!! This is a must stop!! This distillery has been on my bucket list for a few years. Someplace I seen the “Eviction Notice” Bourbon and as a Landlord I needed to get this. We live seven hours away in Michigan and happen it be somewhat close.
Had an amazing meal and a “Eviction Notice” Old Fashioned. Chris M. was our server. He asked how did I want my Old Fashioned, sweet, sour or another way. Never heard this before and I asked him. He was honest and said he had no clue and asked the bartender. I still was confused and just ordered a sweet one. It was amazing.
I purchased two bottles to take home. After getting the correct bill Chris gave me a discount because he said sorry he couldn’t explain the difference on the Old Fashioned’s. And he would not take a tip because he thought he messed up.
What an honest and sincere young man. This is very rare to see. I did finally convince him to take the tip.

I can't say enough good things about this place and already am so excited ro return! We visited today for the live music and everything from the atmosphere to drinks/food, to service was amazing.

The outdoor patio is super comfortable! The tables have umbrellas. There are also seats facing the meadow and seats around the fire pits. The patio is all concrete and there are no steps in sight making it easily accessible for people with limited mobility.

I had the hummus and it was so delicious. A perfect, light meal for a Sunday brunch! There are at least two vegetarian options - the hummus and bruschetta. The drinks are simply incredible. Creative, fresh, and perfectly executed. The Beeten Path was my favorite. Our server, Sara, and the bartenders we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. 100% recommend this place!

This is a hidden gem. The facility is really great and the atmosphere is top notch. The only spirits that are distilled in house are vodka and gin. The bourbon is a 5 year sourced from Kentucky. It's ok but nothing amazing. The cocktails are really great though and the food here was amazing. Overall, I'm really happy with the stop here. I would 100% recommend. We'll be back!

Met family here because someone had suggested it to family members. We LOVED it. The menu is simple and well executed. We had pulled pork sandwiches, salmon, and fish fry. Quality ingredients means enjoyable food for me! I'm rarely impressed when eating out since we are food snobs who cook gourmet at home most of the time. I'd come back no questions asked, and order anything on the menu. The salmon had an amazing sauce. I just wanted to keep lapping that off my mom's plate. My only complaint was the garlic mashed potato side...it was quite salty but still edible, about 30% more salt than I would like. My father said the same for his.
Madison was our waitress and provided friendly table banter and excellent service all the way around. She responded instantly to things she saw or heard...a gem...a person who makes you want to come back again and connects well with customers.
It was entertaining to watch Luke, the bartender, doing long pours and artistic shakes. The ambiance is vibrant and the look sort of a modern/retro/rustic. We loved it.

They have a great location and a beautiful welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and our server went above and beyond making sure that everything was to our liking. The cocktails were very good too. The food is where they lost a point. We started with cheese curds and they were good. My cousin and I both had the chicken sandwich and we both thought it was rather bland. It was supposed to be pickle brined, but it didn't pick up any flavor from it and it was still a tad on the dry side. It should be served with a side of pickles. I had the chips with mine and they tasted over done, just shy of being burnt.

I visited Knowlton House on my birthday and had dinner with a party of eight. We were seated at a great table in a semi- private room. Theresa was our server, who welcomed us, brought us drinks and made suggestions for those of us who were unsure what to order. She knew the dinner menu well and also recommended either the pot roast or the bone-in pork chop. Both were EXCELLENT! By the way, the carrots in both dishes were cooked to perfection. One friend in our party hates cooked carrots and even she liked them! We all had the bourbon chocolate cake for dessert. Wow! If you visit, order the Twin Island Lager… it’s the best beer I’ve had in years!

I’ve been to Knowlton several times before & always had a good experience. However yesterday I went with a friend to an event and was disappointed. The bartending staff would not wait on us. We waited 15 minutes in which one bartender looked at us, gave us a “1 minute” gesture then never returned & waited on other patrons. No other bartenders ever acknowledged our presence. We finally gave up. It was a very disappointing experience.

Stopped at the Knowlton House Distillery for drinks and appetizers with family members. The atmosphere was friendly, open and inviting. Service was attentive and welcoming.
Our drinks ranged from a Holiday Peppermint cocktail, a Bloody Mary, a Hard Seltzer to a Bourbon Old Fashioned.
The appetizers were delicious. Highly recommend the Duker’s Smoked Platter. Mixed thoughts on the Cheese Curds. We typically stop at the Mullins retail store just down the road from the Knowlton House for their authentic, beer battered, freshly made cheese curds at a very reasonable price. These cheese curds were good, but twice the cost.

As transplants from Madison we found very few great restaurants in the area until we stumbled across the Knowlton House. What a great experience!
The place was packed but only waited 15 minutes for a table which was enough time to find a couch and have a cocktail. They were creative, delicious and followed Wisconsin traditions. I had the salmon top with pistachios with fingerling potatoes and purée carrots and the zucchini and onions were snappy and fresh-the perfect addition. They had 3 house beers on tap and I had the IPA which rivaled some of the best craft IPAs out there. It was damn good and went well with the dinner. Finished it off with Main Grain chocolate cake and Ruby French pressed coffee.
The experience was amazing and really driven by the amazing wait service and most notably by Theresa! She was on point with all the details and her smile showed she genuinely cared and love serving us. Thanks Theresa, we left craving more and can’t wait to come back.

My daughter got engaged here a few weeks ago!! The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Our server, Kim, was exceptional. She was fun, funny, and extremely knowledgeable.

Kim brought out a bottle of champagne for the newly engaged couple. They even informed us of a rainbow that appeared after we returned to the private dining room. They led us out through the staff breakroom so we could get the best photos with the happy couple.

Stopped in here on our way home from a trip in New London… my boyfriend and I came in and sat at the bar for 18 minutes without even being ACKNOWLEDGED… the bartenders looked at us a few times and said nothing to us.. they also helped out a couple sitting next to us when they arrived after we did. Last weekend we tried out Knowlton House for the first time. Tyler was baffled he couldn’t order a margarita 😂 but I had an old fashioned like the classy Wisconsinite I am and it was 👌🏼

Overall all the food was excellent but quite pricey! The aesthetic of the place was very nice though it was pretty noisy since it was busy. I would love to go back and do the tour and tasting. Recommend visiting this quaint local place!

Surprisingly child-friendly! We questioned whether or not we should go because of our baby -it certainly feels weird bringing a child to a distillery. They gave us a high chair and a child menu with crayons. Everyone was so kind and accommodating, even as he was crying and trying to crawl away.
The wait was long, but we were expecting this. The wait was an hour-ish for a table and about 30 minutes to get a drink at the bar.

From a distilled spirits and craft cocktails there is much lacking here. Better options a few miles to the north or south in Wausau or Point respectively. The building and premises is very nicely done more worthy of a visit in and itself. Meh experience. We were seated in the back dining room, and service was slow. Chicken sandwich was dry AF. French fries were lukewarm. Chicken sandwich and fries were $17... Not usually a problem, but quality and portions didn't align with price. Definitely is a tourist cash grab. There are much better comparable options in Wausau or Point. Very cool space though.

Kim our server was very friendly. This was our 3rd time here and all servers have been very nice. The food is great, it's one of the only places in the area to specialize in smoked meats and the fact they are also a distillery sets them further apart. All cocktails are delicious, their gin is the standout imo with their bourbon in a very close second. Solid fish fry on Fridays, I'm curious to see what they roll out next on the food menu.

We went to the Knowlton House for the first time tonight. We were pleasantly surprised. The cocktails were excellent, the food was very good, and our server (Kim) was fantastic. She was very attentive and wanted to make sure everything was perfect. The ambience was wonderful. I can't wait until the summer when the beautiful outdoor seating area is available. Drinks are worth every penny! Remember this isn’t your typical Wisconsin bar, it’s elevated and classy while remaining cozy and familiar. My husband and I enjoy coming to knowlton for drinks and usually end up with an appetizer and some dessert. The bartenders are very welcoming, especially Matt, who always has a smile on his face and a love for mixology. When seated outside the bar Theresa is another friendly face who offers amazing service, and is just pleasant to speak with. Overall knowlton is a great place to visit no matter the time of year, from outdoor seating in the summer to cozy indoor space in the winter. Lastly I enjoy their variety of drink selections, I myself am a cocktail drinker where as my husband leans towards beer and bloodys. No matter the vibe we are covered.

We did the distillery tour and ate dinner. Tour- awesome! Best $15 I have ever spent, it gives you an hour of entertainment followed by a tasting of the vodka, gin, bourbon AND two mixers made with the vodka and gin. You definitely get your money back plus some. Dinner- service was great. It was packed but we got our group on the wait list before the tour. We were seated immediately after the tour. Food was excellent as was the service. Ready for my favorite part? GLUTEN FREE BUNS!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for looking out for us celiacs. The waitress was knowledgeable on my food restrictions, didn't get sick. We cannot wait to come back and show others friends this gem.

The drinks were neat but pricey. I had the Rosemary’s Baby which was good at first but halfway down there wasn’t any flavor. The Canada’s Jealous was amazing, would get that again. If you like “liquor forward” drinks that punch you in the face, try the Polar Express. The lights were much too bright. The flow of “sit where you can find a seat and go up to the bar to order your drink” was strange. I think sitting right at the bar might be fine. The indoor decor was confusing, farmhouse meets train station meets dark academia with runway lights on the ceiling. The outdoor fire-pits with the Adirondack chairs was very cute and full of people.

We had a tour lastnight and the tour guides were incredibly knowledgeable of the company’s background and so fun to talk with! Then we had dinner in the restaurant and the baked cod was delicious! The maple vinaigrette dressing on the side salad was sooooo good! Chai me a River was my cocktail of choice and I will definitely have it again! What a gem! We're excited to explore all of the Knowlton House offerings. We took part in a cocktail class, and we will be back for more. It was a great balance of learning, banter, snacking, and drinking fun, delicious cocktails. The staff have great chemistry and are a great team. Went to the Knowlton Distillery for dinner this week. We were greeted by the hostesses, who were very nice. They told us we could go sit at the bar if we would like while we waited for the rest of our group. looked at the drink menu and ordered with the bartender where we were met with an attitude that I was shocked by. the arrogance from the long-haired bartender is astonishing. I asked if we could move to the room to the side because some of us were standing and I felt we were in the way, I was scuffed at and met with attitude yet again. The tall bartender with the tattoos and beard glared and said "Umm no. There will be a class using it." (the class never used the room) We ended up moving to a low table to the side and sitting for a while. We all had finished our drinks but, felt obligated to not order drinks again because it seemed asking the bartenders to do their jobs was all too much for them to handle. We were also told since we were a "larger group" we were not allowed to order a main course only appetizers. We ended up asking the hostess if we could pull some tables together in the bar area and she said, "of course we can that's not an issue." once we were at the table Holly/Molly (I can't remember her name) was very kind to us, she was great, and I give her service a 100/10. We were able to now order food since we were at a table still the "larger group" size. Once we were also at the table tall, tattoo, beard bartenders' attitude completely changed. He ended up giving up us some free curds because he accidentally had put in one too many orders for them and was nice and chatty.

Overall, the food and drinks are a 10/10 waitstaff is a 10/10 hostesses 10/10. long haired bartender I struggle to give a 3/10. Tall bartender, 8/10.

As a bartender myself, I get we all have our days and there are days I don't want to deal with the patrons, but the rudeness and attitude really wasn't needed. I will probably give it another shot, and hope things are different next time.

We visited from out of town and were absolutely charmed! Everyone in our group enjoyed each unique hand crafted cocktail we tried. The ambiance was comfortable and cozy. Prices were in line with what I would expect for an upscale venue. What a beautiful addition to the area!

For food we had the cheese curds and hummus. We wouldn't hesitate to try their other offerings!

I’m not a drinker so I can’t speak to that aspect of this place but I am an eater and the food was amazing! Especially the house smoked catsup! I’ve never had catsup be the star of the meal but it was amazing! I had the house burger and it was delicious. All 4 of us were super pleased with our meal. The staff was amazing about being sensitive to food allergies and went above and beyond to serve us well. Everyone was friendly and fast and made sure we had a great meal. Hope to come back here again soon! The building is amazing and the dining areas are fun, comfortable, and modern. It’s not cheap but we sincerely felt like we got a great deal. Oh! And the house ginger beer was delicious!
