We had KRB cater our wedding dinner. We eat here all the time so we knew it would be good. Our wedding reception had 200 people and our guests were raving about the food.
Jessica, the catering manager, worked with us for ensure the food menu was exactly what we wanted, that we ordered enough, and that everything was set up and ready to go on time.

This is some of the best BBQ I have had in the area! The ribs, brisket and pork butt were out of this world! The portion sizes are huge, you could easily share a plate between two people. We chose to each get our own so we had leftovers to take home. The service was fast and super helpful. We loved the outdoor eating space, very quaint and cozy feeling!

We were passing through Waupaca and found this gem on Google. The brisket and burnt ends are packed with flavor, the sides taste homemade, and the portions are generous. Sauces are top notch. Really fun atmosphere with the indoor and outdoor seating options. Employees and owner were nice enough to check in on us, knowing we were first timers. They were also checking in on other customers to make sure everything was meeting their needs. This is a spot we’ll definitely come back to.

Pretty good BBQ . Burnt ends were a little dryer than I would like. But not the end of the world. They were trimmed or just didn't have much or any fat on them. I am used to a fatty burnt end wich makes them a little less dry . Flavor was good corn bread was delicious. Mac and cheese was good.

Decent bbq for the location. Could work on the sides. The smoked wings they serve are my biggest complaint. Way too salty. I’ve tried them 3 different times just to make sure and all three times there were extremely salty. Just my advice, let the wood be the flavor. No need to over season the chicken. My favs are the half chicken, pulled pork (decent),the beans and cornbread is FIRE 🤤 . Mac and cheese could use some serious love and attention. The rest of the sides they serve are mediocre at best.

Edited: I was too harsh on my last review. I can’t speak on what someone else may enjoy over others. I will say that this isn’t the greatest bbq joint I’ve been to throughout the US, but it is definitely a place that will keep you coming back for something. For me it’s the cornbread and half chicken and the variety of bbq sauces. It’s done rite in my opinion.

Spencer klinger (owner/manager) is young, but he knows what he is doing. I drive by and see him up early throwing brisket on the smoker, and putting the flames out late at night. He cares for that food like its his life blood. KRBs may not be a southern bbq joint but the employees and owner have the dedication and care for this food like no other. I choose to eat there to support to smiles that it brings a small town. And everytime i walk in, im met with one of those smiles. This place perfectly displays the kind heart of wisconsin. And damn, that barbecue is GOOD!

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had in Wisconsin. I was fortunate to be there on a night when they had burnt ends available. They were huge chunks of tender meat with the right amount of fat. The brisket was tender and most and the chicken had a great smoke flavor. It was a heaping pile of burnt ends that I munched on for a couple of days. I'll definitely eat here again when I'm back in the area.

Found the original KRB's in Wautoma, but then they opened one in Waupaca ~ closer to home. The one in Waupaca has a delicious brisket nachos. Made with tender Brisket, creamy coleslaw, green onions, and kettle chips. For take out I get the chips on the side - so they atay crunchy. Always worth the trip!

Gave them 2 stars because the food is pretty good but they run out of everything by 7:00. Why bother being open until 10. Last three times I went by after work (7:00) they were out of almost all the meats and sides. They were cleaning up the counter.

Excellent Barbeque place on Hwy QQ between Waupaca and King. Large and inviting indoor space with lots of seating. Order at the counter and your food is delivered to your table. Great vibes all around, and the food was delicious. Best ribs I've ever had, and the brisket was some of the best I've had. The red skin potatoes were excellent. The only sauce I liked was the NC mustard sauce. The others were too vinegary or sweet for me. However, sauce was completely unnecessary given how good the meats were by themselves.

Wanted to go here since I heard about it from a co-worker. He's in Southern IL, and there's a BBQ place in his town that we both love to go to when I have to travel to his facilities for work.

He, comes to WI occasionally, for the small town events and hiking.

He found this gem and sent me pics and told me about his food and the experience. He said, "this is no 5h!t, but it's better than (the place in his hometown)."

I said no way.

On my birthday, my wife asked me what I wanted to do. I wasn't sure. I sat around watching football for a while, then called and asked "what are you out of?"

"Burnt ends"

I said "I can live with that. I live in Green Bay, it's my birthday and I want BBQ, see you in an hour."

So we got there, and they were sold out of brisket as well. No worries, I would have tried/eaten anything.

I got the ribs, and pulled pork, with beans and coleslaw
Wife got the ribs and pulled pork as well, with Mac & cheese and cornbread.
She also got a corn on the cob and a bourbon bread pudding.

The meats were phenomenal! Well, actually, it all was.
Beans had meats in it, and smoked just right
Slaw had only cabbage and the sauce was the perfect blend of creamy and vinegar-y
Wife's M&C was smooth and creamy.
Cornbread was made with real corn, possibly creamed corn. Either way, it was good.
I didn't try her corn, but she said it was good
Neither of us tried the bread pudding, as we were too stuffed.

Great place, looking forward to my next visit

First time here portions were good but brisket fully fat no meat really baked beans not what I expected mac & cheese phenomenal. I think they need to take a little more insight into the ribs. Also outside of the ribs very hard so by time you get to the good meat not a lot you can eat. Flavor was good. I’m from out of town. I will give a chance it again hope ribs are tender . Staff and atmosphere is awesome.

Never again!! The food at this place shouldn't be served at all. Texas Twinkie was dried out and could tell had been sitting around for some time. The coleslaw was rotten. They apparently make it with sour cream, which had gone bad. Just plain nasty! Mac'N'Cheese is definitely something that comes from Sysco, my son's school serves better. Again another item that was dried out and bland. The applesauce and baked beans were ok, seemed that they were made from scratch. That is why I gave a one star for food. The ribs were over done and dried out. The brisket was bland as could be and fatty and greasy. It left a film on my teeth and made me brush my teeth as soon as I got home a long with having an upset stomach. The burnt ends were not burnt ends. It was chunks of fat doused in barbeque sauce, probably to cover up the fact that they aren't serving burnt ends. The pulled pork was bland and fatty and had to be covered in barbeque sauce to be eaten. The drinks were about the best thing that we got. I over heard another customer telling the other person she was with that she couldn't eat anymore because the food was giving her an upset stomach. When we got home everyone had to use the bathroom immediately. Nothing like paying almost $100 for food and it running right through. Will never recommend or go back. If people think this food is good they apparently are not foodies and have not had enough experience with good food to know what is. Not worth the price that we paid! Tables are crammed together inside and it needed to be cleaned, napkins and bones on the floor. The young high schoolers that serve the food, well their high schoolers, how good do you think the service is? No different than McDonald's. Don't waste your money or time!!!! The menu ordering has restrictions. You can't get anything ala carte. So if you aren't a big eater you are gonna be wasting your money on food that you don't want to get or will eat. If you want better beef go to Arby's. They have the meats! 🤣

The best BBQ in Wisconsin. Brisket, sausage, pork, chicken, and more. They hit every mark for entrees, sides, and the atmosphere.

Food: the flavor here hits like none other. They do something special here…especially for their Sunday Biscuits and gravy. Show up early because they will sell out. The lines wrap around the inside because people know how good this special is! There’s something for all, since you can get sandwiches, 1 or 2 meat plates and combos of sides.

Atmosphere: huge dining room. Big wrap around bar. Massive outdoor patio space - shaded and uncovered.

Service: very friendly and quick!

There’s plenty parking. Extra in back. Highly accessible for everyone.

I have never been to a place where they are asking you to pre tip. Didn't have our food yet and absolutely nobody asks if everything is ok. It's basically a good fast food place. KRB opened early last summer. This is a smaller tourist community, so when I seen we were getting a BBQ place I was amped! After looking at the “coming soon” sign and waiting over a year to eat there I was not disappointed. Their food is really quite good (maybe a bit expensive). Our family really wanted to support a great local restaurant so we ate there almost every weekend last summer. I did the math, our family of 3 spent over $1,000 on BBQ last summer. We got some decent food and happily supported a new local business.

Then to our dismay they closed at the end of tourist season?! We (the locals) spent every weekend fighting through crowds of travelers and giving over hundreds of hard earned dollars, all the while dreaming of the “off” season when we could get a meal without all the commotion of vacationing families.

Most locals loved that place and would have more than kept it going over winter. Even in the summer they were only open Thurs-Sun, prime vacation days around here, then winter comes and the locals get forgotten about. Even if they would’ve reduced hours to one or two days a week for us it would have been awesome. I don’t see how I can support this place anymore, and many others who live here year round feel the same. If you don’t respect the locals we can’t respect you. I’m very disappointed, 2 stars is the best I can do for this place and we will likely won’t visit much anymore. If you do visit watch out for the cornbread, it’s often burnt…

I really liked this place and overall the food was great, especially the cornbread and greens. We took our food to go but they still let us pack up plenty of the different sauces to try out.. The counter staff was friendly and helpful in answering questions. I'm not from the area, but looking forward to trying other items next time I'm in the area.

First time dining in with my family. We were later in the evening so many entrees were already gone.

We ordered pulled pork sandwiches. Loved how moist it was and that there were multiple bbq options at the tables. Loved our sides and most of all, the prices were more affordable than taking the whole fam to Culver's.
We will be back again

Fun bbq place. Three sauces. The tangy was sweeter than the original, but the Carolina was top notch on the chicken. I dare say, the baked beans and cornbread stole the show.

This is the best barbecue in the Waupaca area. There's really no other competition. I don't know how else to spell it out for you.

Haven't had BBQ this good since I lived in North Carolina. Stooped by for lunch on my way through Waupaca and immediately knew it was going to be proper BBQ when I saw the smokehouse out front. Lots of seating inside and outside (with trees and umbrellas for shade). Staff were friendly and helpful. Serving portions are generous. I ordered a pulled pork sand which comes with one side, we chose Mac n cheese as I had my toddler in tow. I got a piece of cornbread as well. The cornbread is actually baked not from a premixture and was perfect. They have three BBQ sauces to choose from, all are great. Thier sweet tea/iced tea actually tasted like southern sweet tea, which is my go-to drink. Highly reccomend it and the pulled pork!

Went there for lunch. The food was good with decent portions, and they have a nice variety. The restaurant is clean. The service is friendly. You have the option to eat inside or out in their picnic area, which is nice. Would recommend a try!

I do not give 5 stars lightly, but this was amazing. We stopped for lunch today. If you want REAL BBQ, this is the stop for you. I had the ribs, Mac and cheese and Cole slaw, my wife had the brisket and potato salad. It was all cooked and seasoned to perfection. The meat was melt in your mouth perfect. We will ldefinitely be back frequently. I'm a big eater, and was considering getting the 2 meat plate, but decided against it since we had dinner plans as well, good call because I could barely finish my plate with the 1 meat. Great portion sizes for the $. You can get a good meal almost anywhere, but if you want a GREAT meal, KRB's will provide that!

KRB's is real BBQ with great service and a fun atmosphere. The portions are big! The sides are as amazing as the BBQ! The only "downside" is that they have to close down during the winter and it is hard to wait until spring for their BBQ again!!! Can't wait to have them cater our special events.

First time here and we will be back. Tried the ribs and brisket sandwich which were excellent. The quantity and quality of the food served was very satisfying. A very clean and friendly place. Having grown up in Texas this place ranks right up there with the BBQ kings.

Best BBQ I have found in Wisconsin. The brisket was unbelievably tender and the mac & cheese was fantastic. The restaurant itself has alot of character and plenty of outdoor seating. I highly recommend checking this place out.

I love this place! I have only had the brisket sandwich and roasted potatos when I have been here. I usually go with a small group of people and we all get something different. My friends love the food too. We wated all winter for them to open up again and couldnt wait until they did. This time I forgot to take photos of the food, but I did take these photos of the cool new sign!

I really struggled on deciding whether or not to write this review, but here it goes.

Southern BBQ Law.... if you stroll into a BBQ joint and they offer a plethora of free sauces..... it only means one thing. They know their food just ain't hittin.

Let me preface this review by stating I'm a born n bred southerner. Due to that I have come into contact with the best BBQ known to man... Shout out to Scott's BBQ in Hemingway, SC!

I have visited KRBs 3 times now. Each time making sure to try a different meat and different sides. I did not try the ribs given my coworker got them and you could clang your silverware off the meat it was that dry, so no ty lol. While I have not tried all the sides, I did try all the familiar southern staples.

Let's start with the sides....

Every side I tried was terrible. From the collards to the red taters and everything in-between. The collards tasted like they were dumped out of a can and heated up, the red taters were soaking in water (who does that!), every red blooded southerner knows you bake or grill red taters, you don't soak them in water. The cornbread actually ticked me off, whole corn kernels in the cornbread. The last vusit I made I refused sides for all the reasons above. I made a pot of collards for Thanksgiving, and I debated on whether or not to take them a plate so they can try real southern food and learn lol.

Onto the meats....

The Pulled Pork I have to give a 3/10. The reason for the low rating is due to the flavor. Their pulled pork only tasted like grease and liquid smoke. Now, I am not suggesting they used liquid smoke. I'm only stating that's what it tastes like.

The Brisket I have to give a 2/10 simply for how dry it was. The flavor was bland and being dry on top of it..... that's a no go. I am aware Brisket is not an easy meat to master and hopefully they can get it dialed in.

The Chicken..... The chicken was firing on all cylinders, so I gotta give em a 9/10. Granted, I know their chicken is baked, which is a cardinal sin for a BBQ joint, but the flavor was just too good!

Let's talk about Service and Atmosphere.
The service and atmosphere I have to give a 10/10. The joint was clean and the staff friendly, and I can't ask for more than that.

Summary - I can honestly say if you served a plate of this food (minus the chicken) to anyone from my neck of the woods..... you aren't leaving without a broken jaw. BBQ is no joke in the deep south and this.... this is not BBQ. This tasted like it was made by mayonnaise Yankees for mayonnaise Yankees (which technically it is) by lacking spice, flavor, depth, and the general know how on how to prep each dish. I have to say though.... if KRBs only served chicken, they'd get 5 stars no questions asked. However they tried to recreate what I have known all my life and they failed. If this is the bar that is set for BBQ up here then I need to open my own shack and clean house.... especially at those prices for what you get... or better yet what you don't get.... FLAVOR!

P.S. You can get better BBQ in southern gas stations for half the price.

P.S.S. I can appreciate the attempt at Carolina Red Sauce and frankly it was the only way I got the pork down. Having said that it had no spice which is another cardinal sin.
