I have no idea what happened, but this place has gone downhill. The food is terrible, the service is terrible, and the place was dirty. After eating here at least once a month for the last 8 years, we won't be returning. This was our favorite mexican place.

The food very bad. Ordered burrito, taco, chimichanga and Tossed salad. The tossed salad was some taco toppings with no dressing. The beef in the taco and chimichanga was a paste consistency, pretty sure not real beef. The service was rude to us while chatting away with customers who spoke Spanish. Very unpleasant experience.

I went on a lunch date with my girlfriends today because we wanted to try a new Mexican restaurant we’d all been craving. We were really excited, but the experience quickly went downhill.
From the start, our waitress seemed annoyed with us while ordering. Our order came out wrong multiple times, even though we repeated ourselves clearly. We also had to keep asking for things we had already requested when she first took our order. Despite this, she only checked on us a couple of times before we actually saw her leave the restaurant and drive off—while she was still supposed to be waiting on our table.
We ended up flagging down other staff just to get what we needed. Thankfully, one gentleman stepped in and was incredibly kind and attentive, picking up the slack. He honestly saved the experience.
The food itself was decent, but the service was terrible until this gentleman stepped up. It felt like our waitress was more focused on other tables than ours, and because of her, I wouldn’t come back. The only bright spot was the excellent service we received from the gentleman who helped us. Unfortunately, I did not get his name.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Central Wisconsin. We don't live in Beaver Dam, but any time we are in the area, we just have to eat here. Never been disappointed. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, and service is always friendly. We especially like the "Pick Four" and always get one chili releno along with three other items. So many other menu items to choose from too, there's something for everyone. And don't forget to try the mageritas or other mixed drinks. Worth the stop for sure!

I do not like to give negative reviews but…Visiting from out of state. Picked my son up from work at 7pm. We had decided to get Mexican food. We had already been to Mexican restaurant on south Spring and wanted to now try La Tapatia. Arrived around 7:15 on 7/1/24. Employee behind payment counter was checking out customer and talking with friend/employee. No acknowledgment. Fine. Three other employees came out of kitchen and walked right by us. Finally fourth person out of kitchen seated us w/menus. We looked at menus for a bit and set our menus down to indicate that we were ready to order. All other patrons had their food or were finishing up. We waited. Ten minutes and nobody came by. No employee even entered the dining area. No silverware. No drink order. So we continued to wait. We finally gave up at about 18 minutes of waiting to see an employee. We left. Went to Mexican restaurant on south Spring and had a wonderful dinner.

I wish the waiter would have asked if I wanted rice or beans, I am so a custom to burrito plates coming with them automatically I didn’t even think to ask. The food was awesome and the service was great as well. I ate the steak fajita burrito with horchata to drink. It was a much lighter burrito than I’m use to as it isn’t filled with cheese, beans, or rice. It was nice to eat the entire thing without feeling like I needed a nap straight away.

Parrillada was for 2 but they included shredded carnitas,(don't know why) a few beef ribs, few shrimps, cilantro, limes, roasted peppers, a potatoes. My biggest issue is the cleanliness of the restaurant. I'm not the only one that has thought this many of my friends that used to visit all the time that was their biggest complaint too. The last time I visited the food was not that great which made me sad because I was willing to deal with the dirty because the food was so good. I will probably go back one more time to try dinner again. But if the food disappoints it will definitely be the last time that I come in and we normally eat there at least once a month. I feel with that many people working there there is no reason For the restaurant to be that dusty. Worked in the food industry for many years. I know what it takes to keep it up. It's not that hard if you all work together.

We were able to make reservations for 8 online and were seated immediately. Only waited a short time for waitress to take drink and food orders. Everything came out correct and yummy. My recommendation for the food is to keep the cold ingredients out of the burritos (lettuce, sour cream, etc) and put on the side because it makes the burrito cold.
