Walked in to get food awhile back. Love the food since I was a kid, but the young lady at the register has an attitude. Lol. She needs to adjust that when she's taking to guests. I asked for one pound of garnitas and they put in more than one pound. Luckily I was really hungry so it didn't bother me, but some guests might not like that. Over all amazing food.

I normally get the taco plate but I'm sooo glad I decided to be different today, this combo plate was 10/10!! Guisada is usually disappointing where I've tried them. This here was perfect!! I'm very picky about rice and beans also, I think my home made frijoles are the best but I think I have a contender now lol

DO. NOT. GO. They need to be shut down. The old lady in front has a nasty rude attitude. Which makes sense as to why there were no other customers. I asked how the chicken tacos were made (ie: grilled chicken, shredded chicken in tomato) and she just kept saying “chicken.” Maybe she lost her memory and needs to be fired and/or retrained. Who knows but I’ll personally never give them a penny. Disgusting when you try to support local and they’re so unprofessional. Id leave negative stars if I could.

Food has gone downhill. Customer service is very, very poor. The family used to be run much smoother & treated customers with way more kindness. It's probably the last time we visit. Which is sad because this was our stop every time we came this way! We turned so many people onto this restaurant. That ends today due to the experience we had today. Tacos were not good at all for the price they honestly sucked. The salsa with the chips they brought out was not good either nothing tasted good. With those prices you would think they would be better than el Buen gusto in Kenosha I’ll take the 20 minute drive down there any day. They are more affordable with better taste please don’t waist your money here it’s not worth it theirs many places with a better taste. The staff was alright I did not like that they did not tell us where to order. They weren’t helpful they just stared blankly at us while the girl behind the register kept going on her phone. Only thing I liked was the little alcancia that was bought it had a plain boring atmosphere. It was like getting our food and eating at our neighbors that were not expecting us to come. I’m shocked at the prices people pay for food you could make at home but better. Just look it up on YouTube.

Well this place has been a staple of the southside since forever. I always remember the dancing horse in the parade.I haven't been here in many years it seems not much has changed. Due to me living on the northside where theirs a taquria every other block the food here is unique, just as great as I remember very authentic and good. The steak tasted great, good flavor. The service was very fast and friendly the food was hot. Whenever I'm on the southside of town I'll be sure to revisit here.

Have been coming here for years. Prices went up and service has gone down. Paid $70 for 1 rice, 1 beans, a steak burrito, and 4 plates of tacos. Got home and noticed no sour cream on the tacos, called and they argued about it and told us we needed to text a picture of our tacos. I have never seen service like this sad and done with this place and it seems most people are.

Amazing authentic Mexican food and dining experience. This family owned business has been serving Racine for several decades. Stepping inside this establishment and smelling the fresh tortillas being made, along with the delicious Mexican food freshly being cooked, was an instant attention grabber. I love the small grocery store portion of the business. The owners run the entire operation from cooking, serving and being cashier. The friendly and accommodating service is over the top. My mother and I could've spent the entire day visiting with them. Such lovely people and the food is second to none. Amazing flavor, fresh and a authentic as it gets. The homemade pico is the best I've ever had! I recommend the combination plate. Try a little of everything. The portions are more than generous. Come hungry! We will be back. Beautiful people, service and food. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Original Review: One of our favorite restaurants to get Mexican food from that is close by and in our neighborhood. The food is ALWAYS delicious! The service was incredible. Super friendly and helpful. We got our food to go. It was last minute, so I had to wait… but didn’t care. I looked around at all the fun and interesting items in the store part of La Tapatia. They have everything from beer, to milk, to produce, and more choices of hot sauce than I have ever seen! It makes sense to call in your order, so it is ready when you get there. This was our first time visiting the corner convenience store/kitchen, but it definitely will will not be our last. All three in the group decided on the same Barbacoa burrito with some tamales. Some in the group liked the pork over the chicken tamales, but both were good. But the burritos… They were to die for! Packed with steak, and the outside shell grilled to a crispy, flaky texture, we all killed those burritos in no time! We would all highly recommend stopping at this place to grab carry out before heading home. Highly recommend!

Worse experience ever!!!!!! To give a customer old tacos and tacos with absolutely no meat or anything in them is crazy. Then when I ask to bring them back the next day, as I drove all the way home expecting them to be in good condition, the rude girl that is always at the front desk tells me to bring them "all" back! As if I would feed this poor representation of a business food to my family! Then I get there and try to talk, she has a problem with listening, talking over me when I was talking to her. Learn to listen to the customers who are expressing how you all messed up and what should be changed to fix the issue and prevent it from happening in the future! This is not how you handle yourself in any business!! Especially when I came in with a better than expected demeanor!!! The BEST ground beef taco I've ever had. Steak and Al Pastor as amazing as well. Lauro (the owner) makes you feel like family when you're here. And it was my cousin's cousin who told me to drive all the way from Central Illinois just to taste these tacos. It was worth the trip; after traveling extensively through Mexico and eating plenty of Mexican food between Tucson (where I was born) and San Antonio, I can absolutely confirm that this place has the best of the best.

There's something special about your first bite in. The meat is steaming and the corn tortillas have a certain fresh, heated sponginess to them that can't be beat. The amount of toppings are perfect. And while my first bite added nothing, I was also just as happy to top it with a bit of Lauro's extra spicy salsa that he shared from his own family table. I also added a spot of sour cream.

Wherever you're traveling from, consider yourself lucky if you've stumbled upon this place - or if you were fortunate enough to have a friend / family member recommend it to you directly.

This spot is flavor central, with food that is authentic, fresh, and hot. It's clearly made with love, and you absolutely feel like family when you sit down. Don't do take out. It's worth the time to eat in and get the true experience that he's worked over 40 years to create.

Tried to get a carry out order but the food was cold when I picked it up. When I asked about the food being cold the person was super rude and refused to help fix the situation. Lied about when it was prepared and accused me of being late. I arrived at 5:06 pm and the order was for 5pm. No way it would be cold within 8 mins if they were made at 5 like they claimed.
