Family owned and run. Great service. Great Atmosphere. Excellent food menu and a fun drink menu with a wide variety. We had chips and homemade tomatillo salsa and guacamole. This place is the absolute best, not just the food but everyone is so friendly and there’s actual hospitality coming from everyone that works here. Ok Racine. Some serious food leveling up happening here. And with vegetarian and vegan options too! Grabbed some classics—quesabirria with consommé, jackfruit birria, soyrizo taco, guacamole, rice and the selection of salsas—to see how they did the fundamentals. First time visiting this restaurant.It seems like a nice place to take a date or a friend for a drink if you're into that sort of thing. The inside is nice and cozy.I ordered a steak Torta for take out.The staff here seems friendly enough.The wait time seemed like an eternity.The take out took so long they didn't know I paid because the person who took my order left no big deal.I'm pretty sure the service is far better for dine in customers.The Torta was ok but not the best I've had and not worth the wait it took.Would I come back here for takeout probably not.I would only recommend this place if you're dinning in,call in ahead of time to place an order or just dont mind waiting.

I recently visited this lovely spot with my family, and it was such a warm and special experience. We stopped by La Taquiza near Racine and were seriously impressed. The birria chilaquiles were bomb… perfect balance of crispy, saucy, and flavorful. The torta ahogada hit the spot too, and the chamorro was something different and ended up being a table favorite.

Everyone from the adults to the kids left full and happy. Prices were super reasonable for the quality, and the flavors really took it over the top.

They also had a really solid liquor selection, including some rare tequilas you don’t see just anywhere. Definitely added to the overall experience.

The place was clean, the staff was super friendly, and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A hidden gem for sure!

I’ve recently moved from the west coast to Wisconsin and was tired of the fake white people mexican food with no flavor drowning in tomatoes and lettuce. Was looking for something authentic after having gone to so many disappointing places. This place hit the mark!!! It’s the most authentic Mexican food I’ve found here in the Midwest and took me back home without needing to travel! The beans infused with chorizo, the most consistent rice I’ve found in any restaurant! The tacos tasted just like they’re from the streets of Guadalajara and the salsas tasted so fresh!! I’ve always been of the opinion that a restaurant should do the basics right and care about the food they put out and this place does the basics right! That’s not even touching on the fact that Cabeza tacos are a hard thing to get right and whoever is on the grill gets it right! Definitely coming back especially when I’m home sick. It’s a place all lovers of Mexican food should try!!!

We stopped in to meet friends for brunch at 11 on a Saturday. We got a friendly greeting and were seated immediately. Good coffee and micheladas came right away, and our hostess explained some menu options for us. D and I both opted for chilaquiles (mine with birria, which was excellent) and the chef came out to make sure everything was good. It was delicious! Our friends told us the business is operated by a family, and the vibe is super positive. The building has been updated significantly since it was Totero’s, and everything was squeaky-clean. I have already recommended this place to four different friends in the past 24 hours. Go check it out!

We came in later on a Friday evening. The bar was packed and tables full. Y’all!!!! Being from Chicago our standards are high when it comes to service and good food. This is a family owned restaurant and they knocked it out of the park. The house margaritas are on point! The best I’ve had in a LONG time!
We ordered the special- Smash Burger Birria and Fries along with the Birria Ramen. We were AMAZED at how delicious the food was and how great the service was. This will be our Friday night go to in Racine. I can’t wait to try Brunch.

Went here for lunch on a Saturday . They were steady busy but no problems getting a seat . Super friendly staff ! I ordered the Jack fruit tacos which were amazing . I love the fact that they give you vegetarian options . Most places do not , and if they do, it’s just beans and rice . I also had a margarita which was pretty flavorful! We LOVED this place! The service was impressive eventhough they were slammed. Our server still took care to slow down, give us the info on all the specials. She made us feel welcomed and cared for. I had a fresh watermelon margarita with real watermelon... it was delicious! and We got birria tacos with consomme, fresh guacamole with homemade chips & churro Egg Roll (filled with this warm gooey cheesecake like cinnamon goodness. Fried in an egg roll rolled in cinnamon & sugar & drizzled with caramel) OMG!!! It was all so good! My son said it was the best tacos he ever had and was literally drinking the consomme lol. I’m Mexican and I felt disappointed in the quesabirria tacos. Usually places dip the taco in consome and fry it but not here. It also tasted like Milagro tortillas with cheese from the red bag that you get at any Mexican store( Queso chihuahua from supremo) plus meat. It felt like I just made quesadilla at home and added meat. The meat was good but couldn’t taste a strong flavor of anything. The tortilla was dry, you can tell in the picture! I probably will not get it again but if someone pays dinner for this place then I would eat it because it would be free for me. I don’t think it’s worth the price $$$. I’m sad it didn’t meet my criteria but hope they can use better cheese and tortillas in the future and not have dry tortillas. The rice was ehh, missing flavor. Wouldn’t get the rice again.

Our visit to La Taquiza was not planned, but we're sure glad we stopped in for dinner. The three of us all ordered the Birria Plate, so I can only relay the opinions of one dish. Thankfully, it was five stars all around. The meat was tender and the portion was healthy. The beans and rice that came with the dish didn't taste like your average "Mexican" restaurant's usual sides. There was an actual flavor to the rice! The beans were quite tasty! The dish comes with corn tortillas and they were also above-average in quality. The drink prices were fair and well crafted from the small bar inside this clean and bright restaurant. The freshly made sauces were outstanding, and they're served in squeeze bottles, making it so easy to spread. The staff is friendly, and we didn't feel rushed on a Saturday evening. We were among the first customers at their "soft opening" on 2/2/24. The menu and atmosphere are simple, the food delicious, and the service both personable and professional. Delicious food and friendly people! We came for the second day of the soft opening and it was wonderful. Didn’t have to wait long for our food but I would’ve waited over an hour, it was worth every minute ;) Thank you so much!
