This is a seasoned historical establishment that was recommended to us. There is a large bar as you enter. Once seated our service was great. But the food stole the show. It was well prepared and absolutely delicious. There is a little boutique in the back with a fun tasting room to sample spirit after dinner.
My only comment is that there was no one to greet or direct us when we arrived for dinner. We wandered around several minutes trying to figure out where the dining was until a new employee found someone to help.

My understanding is there is a new manager, overseeing the dining and bar. What a difference from a year ago. Friday night fish fry I had the baked cod which was done perfectly and well seasoned… Meaning more than just paprika… And the clam chowder was among the best I’ve ever tasted. Flavorful with vegetables that were cooked Just enough to still have a little crunch. Lots of clams in every bite; creamy but not starchy. Bartender makes a good drink, without any prompting by the customer ☺️

We were excited to try Lake House Inn, the historic building has such a unique vibe, and I love a good supper club and fish fry. We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away, and our server came over promptly to take our drink order; it was immediately clear she was new and unfamiliar with both her tablet and the bar menu. She confirmed it was her first night serving on her own, we told her no worries and to take her time, and she got the drink and appetizer order put in. The appetizer, duck wontons, came out piping hot and were extremely good. However, our drinks had not arrived yet. A different server came to the table, apologized for the delay and was very confused when he noticed we already had food on our table, so there was some sort of communication gap between the staff on whose table was whose (which was weird, because the dining room was not busy). He was able to track down our drinks, which had apparently been ready and sitting on the bar waiting for a while. He came back to take our meal order, and then we waited. And waited. No one came back so we could order another round of drinks while we waited. The food eventually arrived: the fried fish and house-made tartar sauce were both fantastic. The prime rib and mashed potatoes were both cold, and we quickly realized that our soup, cole slaw, and relish tray were all missing. By the time we flagged down a server, we were halfway done with our entrees, so we cancelled the relish tray and asked for the soup to go, then they informed us they were actually out of clam chowder, but they would substitute the tomato soup, which came out in a dish instead of a to go container. We tried it and neither of us liked it enough to want a second bite. They did pack up the relish tray to go (Ritz crackers, sliced cheese, carrot and celery sticks, and the weirdest combination of baby corn and green olives, both swimming in a shocking amount of dried dill). The server knew our meal hadn't gone smoothly, so he offered a free dessert, and brought us a slice of cheesecake, which we had a hard time enjoying because it was still frozen in the middle. This place has SO much potential, but for a $100+ meal, we left pretty disappointed and will probably not come back.

We had fried cod. Was excellent. I had loaded smash potatoes, was just reasonable only because served a bit warm. Soup was simple and good. Tarter sause excellent. Old fashion excellent. Served small portion of corn on the cob, which looked great but was actually cold so not edible.
Server has very nice personality but made a couple mistakes and wasn't around after the meal was served for some time so we were unable to rectify situation timely.
Will try again and next time will find someone quickly if something is off.

We stopped by this little gem on a Wednesday for a couple of happy hour old fashioneds. We tried the Green River whiskey. Great drinks. Made really well by Jaden. We came back for dinner on Friday. Had more old fashioneds while waiting for a table. Dinner was amazing. The clam chowder was probably the best I've ever had. I'd go back just for the soup. I had the baked cod. Sometimes baked cod is boring and flavorless. This was delicious. I was super impressed. Matt had the walleye, which can also be dried and tasteless. The fish was tender, flaky, and flavorful. Great portion size. The entire staff was working very hard to make sure the guests were happy. We look forward to going back and trying the surf and turf.

This one hurts. I want to like this place so much…great atmosphere, FABULOUS history, nice people, food was very good, totally solid. But the service was atrocious. Unbelievably bad. The details don’t really matter, but here’s a quick rundown of the lowlights:
Our server didn’t come to our table for at least 15 minutes— we had to flag down the host to get drinks - and never did ask us about refills, etc. Twice we saw servers wandering around with trays of entrees, apparently unclear on where they were going. We had not even finished our salads when the server approached the table and asked if we had saved room for dessert. Salad plates weren’t cleared until the server brought us our entrees and no one cleared the entree plates until we finally asked the host to help us. During most of this time there were as many as 4 staff standing around talking. To top it all off, one of the orders was wrong and they claimed they couldn’t fix it.
I hope they can fix the service. I’m rooting for the restaurant but this was not a good experience.

Very glad LakeHouse Inn is back in business! The new look inside is stunning, the food/drink great and the staff is excellent. The giant pretzel is outstanding and with all the options of dipping sauces, it’s an excellent choice for anyone. Also had a burger that was perfectly done and tasted great!! I highly recommend LakeHouse Inn for any occasion…. Definitely going back again!!

We were so happy when Lakehouse reopened, and the first visit was really good. Each of our last 3 visits has been progressively worse. On Friday we had a bad waitress, my son's bourbon old fashion had no bourbon it just came clear, they forgot the soup and when it came after the food it was cold, potatoes were cold and the fish had a weird breading that was overcooked. We won't be going back, so sad!

Had a fun time at their Meat raffles. Daughter & I truly enjoyed the Savannah & Pearl Boutique which is connected to this business. You can sample a variety of liquors while shopping. Wearing my cool shimmery "mermaid" leggings now that I purchased there as I write this post. Bar has one of the largest variety of spirits that I've ever seen. They offer a lot of unique cocktails. Is like a maze driving to get there but you won't be disappointed!

We were really excited to try this place, especially after hearing some good things about it, but sadly, the experience fell short. When we first arrived, we were greeted attentively which was a good start. We had reservations, but she still let us know there would be a wait. Which we waited an additional 20 minutes to be seated, which was fine. While we waited, we browsed the gift shop, which was actually quite nice—I ended up making a small purchase there, so that was a pleasant distraction.
Once seated, the service started to falter. It took way too long to get our first round of drinks, and then we ordered appetizers and mains, but still hadn’t gotten our second round of drinks by the time the food arrived. To make matters worse, our salads came out at the same time as the main courses, which just felt rushed and disorganized. The food seemed like it had been sitting for awhile as some of it was not too warm.
We ordered a medium-rare prime rib, and what arrived was a grey, overcooked piece of meat that was far from medium-rare. I was only able to take two bites before it became clear that it wasn’t worth continuing. For a $50 dish, I expected much better quality. They did take $10 off the bill, but that didn’t make up for the overall lack of attention to detail. The burger buns were greasy, and the food quality in general just didn’t meet expectations.
Our total bill, with tip, came to around $300, and considering the service was inattentive and the food didn’t meet the mark, it certainly wasn’t worth the price. While the atmosphere was nice, and I appreciated the gift shop, the poor service and lackluster food made this a disappointing experience overall. I won’t be returning.

The food here is fabulous, with virtually everything made fresh in-house. Let's start with the raspberry vinaigrette...absolutely delicious, and made the salad a highlight of the meal. We were there on a Friday and had the fish fry: large walleye fillet lightly battened and fried to perfection. The loaded potatoes and red garlic were both delicious, as were the hush puppies we had for an appetizer. The drinks were mixed perfectly obviously using excellent ingredients--cheers to whoever made them. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended...we will be back!

Saturday Nov 9 dinner reservations for two at 6pm. We were seated early. Took 15 minutes for someone to take our order. At least three tables near us were not bussed or cleaned, so we had the atmosphere of dirty tables and slow service. Waiter finally took our drink and food order. Waited another 15 minutes before he brought us bread and butter. Still no drinks, not even water, no napkins, no utensils. I asked for a butter knife, but he never got us one. Surrounding tables still dirty, so I decided to search dirty tables hoping to find unused silverware, but then spotted where the clean silverware and napkins were in the back and got them myself. We also wondered if the salad would show up, but never did. Waiter came from the bar area and saw us with a look like he just realized we still didn’t have our drinks. At least he brought us ONE glass of water to hold us over. So we were able to eat our bread and share the one glass of water. After a VERY LONG wait, our wine finally arrived. Another long wait, we got our entrees. Then what seemed like another after thought, he brought our salad. As expected, the prime rib was over cooked, pasta Alfredo was cold.

This place is not what it once was. Made reservations for dinner since last I remembered it was always busy. Got there a little early for drinks and found that a reservation wasn't necessary. Still we were seated well after our reserved time and then it took them over 15 minutes to take our drink order. After about 30 minutes of sitting at the table we decided to take our business elsewhere. For a Supper Club it was poor service, overpriced menu options, horrible menu options, and a bunch of locals getting hammered at the bar. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I hate saying that since years ago it was a great establishment.
Additional: My reservation was @ 7pm for two adults on Friday 10/25.
I would love to know how so many people gave this establishment a 4+ star review. I have been to over 100 Supper Clubs in Wisconsin and I would recommend all of them over this place.

When we first walked in they had music playing like from a night club. Hated it. Later it went off. Had the blue burger and the patty seemed like a frozen patty. Not hand crafted. Expected better for what we paid plus the blueberry jam that was supposed to be on it was missing. We ordered chicken Alfredo but it came out with no chicken. We asked for a Bacardi and coke but it was made with a different rum and they didn't bother to say they didn't have Bacardi. Didn't like it. Three of us had the batterd fish but was not great.

We had an absolute blast at Lake House Inn last night! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for a treat. I ordered the filet mignon, and let me tell you, it was cooked to perfection! I’m pretty picky about how I like my steak, but they nailed it. My husband had the Pasta Alfredo with Shrimp, and he was equally impressed.
We started with salads, and the French dressing had this incredible smoky flavor that was a delightful surprise. The veggies were so fresh and crisp—it was like a garden on our plates!
Now, I usually look forward to a baked potato when I’m having steak, but they didn’t offer it. I was a bit disappointed until I tasted their loaded smashed potatoes. Wow! They were so good—crispy bacon, fresh grated cheese, and just perfect. Honestly, even if they had baked potatoes, I’d still go for the smashed ones.
The restaurant itself is charming, blending historic elegance with modern flair. Laurie, the owner, was an absolute gem and made sure we had a fantastic experience. Plus, they offer mocktails! My husband and I don’t drink, so it was awesome to have a fun, inclusive option for our night out.
And let’s not forget the quirky store inside the restaurant with its sassy sayings and witty gift items. It was such a fun touch! We’ll definitely be back—thanks, Lake House Inn, for a wonderful evening!

Went first drinks and appetizers with 6 friends. Ordered vodka and lemonade and a bloody mary along with pretzels. The pretzels were amazing! Disappointed in the drinks. Very weak pours and nothing in the bloody mary but mix and vodka. For the price one would expect a meat stick, some cheese maybe a pickle olive or something! When I asked the bartender is there any accompaniment with the bloody mary she said no, just on Sunday! What? Unheard of!

Beer battered cod and old fashioned were good, not great. Tarter sauce is the dill variety. My preference is that dill and sweet tarter both be offered. The service was terrible. To start three bartenders and none of them could see me standing at the bar wanting to order drink. They had a ton of wait staff, but they were inexperienced or in training. Food arrived, but we had no silverware. The server that brought the food left to get silverware and never came back. Finally flagged someone down to get silverware. It should be noted that a large table was set next to us with silverware, but they wouldn’t grab it for us. We could have grabbed it, but thought we wait for a response. They also forgot to bring bread to our table. Then the bill comes and the tip options are 20, 25 or 30 percent gratuity. I tipped 15% at the bar and table despite the poor service. I live locally and probably won’t be back. If I do return I will request seating in the porch as the dining room is loud.

We both shared an order of cheese curds, and each had the New Double Bleu(?) burger with fries. The burger meat also contains ground brisket... mmmmmmm!
Really enjoyed the Blackberry Margherita.
Owner Laurie was super friendly and chatted with us for quite a while about the building, plans for it, etc.
Bartenders were both really fun and friendly.

My old fashioned was one of the best I’ve had. Our bartender was very accommodating of our food sensitivities, and we really enjoyed our meals. My friend loved the soup and wished her order came with a little more of it. My only criticism is that the menu listed a GRILLED chicken sandwich, but it came out with breaded fried chicken strips.
I love the bar atmosphere, the cocktails are creative. I wish they had more Wisconsin beers and spirits, like Driftless Glen and Dancing Goat.

I was there for a family gathering to celebrate the life of a cousin the food and beverages served were very good. The only mis-step was faulty a/c in the summer heat.

The historic lake house inn is under new ownership and has undergone extensive renovations to highlight its original features and character. Definitely worth the stop to checkout this piece of local history. So glad it’s being preserved!

I have taken friends and family to the Lake House many times over the past 10 years. Great old fashion drinks and food every time. The history and architecture of the place is interesting. Portions are very generous, reasonable prices. Enjoy!

The 5th and last time going. We have not been back in the last year and half and thought we would give it another try. The smell of the place was terrible. It was musty and mildew smelling. I realize it is a very old building but should not have stunk that bad. The ceiling above our table was water stained and looked like it would fall down at anytime. We should have left at that point. My Husband had beer battered cod which when it was brought out he was not sure what it was. He said it was terrible and ate half of one of the three pieces served. I had the broasted chicken. The first piece was very good. Moist and flavorful. The send piece was very tough and dry. The "AuGratin" potatoes we diced and swimming in Cheese Whiz. Will not be going back again.

we have been going there for years, always had good service and good food for a good price...not so with our last visit. me and my wife both ordered the chicken and fish combo. I got a nice size piece of chicken and very small pieces of fish. slaw was great. My wife was just ticked. One small chicken wing (.50 at Buffalo wild wings) and two small fish nuggets. had one adult boy and two teen age girls also. not very impressed at all with any of it. tipped waitress well... she did her job, but the cook and owners should be ashamed that anything like me wife's meal came out of that kitchen...come on folks, If you want to stay in business it is going to take more then a new deck to sit and wait for what? you have a historic institution of a restaurant. I hope you get the news...2 stars only because drinks were good (that too took a separate bill from meal ticket)

I used to love this place. I've noticed the food is not as good as it used to be. The new porch is almost done. The broasted chicken is always good. Give this place a try and let me know what you think. With some input I'm sure they can make this place as great as it used to be!

Bartender was shady and tried to over charge us by about $17. Waitress was rude and not good at her job. Hostess was about the same as the waitress. Never got to eat this time, the waitress didn't take our order but took the order of the table sat after us so we left. This experience was a waste of time and money. The bathrooms are filthy dirty too.

Have been going here on a regular basis for about 8 years, and I always recommend it to others. We live in a NW suburb of Chicago, and own a home on the lake. I have celiacs and it is sometimes hard to find a restaurant that will work with me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I have never gotten sick after eating here. You can't beat the prices, I recommend anyone with dietary problems to try this place out.Make sure you talk to the wait staff and really explain what your needs are.

Went with friends on a Thursday night in January for dinner and had an enjoyable time. Traffic was light this time of year but the bartender was friendly and shared some of the history of this historic inn and restaurant. We practically had the dining room to ourselves but service was great and the food was good. We will go back again soon.

So I ask the gal behind the bar if she had an IPA to which she smugly replied "We certainly do not". Apparantly their Miller, Bud, Pabst selection was working well for them as it was a Saturday night, Packers-49ers game and there wasn't a sole sitting at the bar. Not even a local to watch the game. The food was less than mediocre by supper club standards. I've had better fried walleye at Culvers. They offer an "au gratin" potato option but only if you're a party of less than 8....huh?....avoid this place. There's a McDonalds down the road, better food better service.

Go on a Sunday and you get fresh, hot cinnamon rolls - life does not get much better then that! Always busy, always good.
