Our family chose Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan for a special occasion, expecting a beautiful and safe venue. Unfortunately, our experience left us extremely disappointed—and concerned.

We were assured that our personal items would be safe in their designated holding room during the wedding ceremony. However, someone went through our belongings and stole cash money out of my purse. When we reported this, we were told after a through investigation that only employees had access to the room, supposedly just to remove trash. That explanation only made the situation more troubling.

To make matters worse, the General Manager never returned our calls, and the staff showed little concern or urgency about the situation. We felt dismissed and ignored during what should have been a joyful and memorable time.

If you’re considering this resort for your wedding or special event, you may want to seriously rethink that decision. Security and customer service are critical—especially when you're entrusting a venue with your most personal moments—and unfortunately, Lake Lawn Resort failed us on both.

Was at Lake Lawn for a retreat. Beautiful facility and rooms. We arrived mid afternoon and they had a complimentary wine and cheese happy hour late afternoon and it was way more than cheese and crackers. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a brunch with our event and it was amazing and very tasty. The brazed short ribs especially. Enjoyed a fire down by the lake that night. We were in a suite and I enjoyed the jacuzzi in the bathroom along with the shampoos and conditioner in the shower. They had the makeup magnifying mirrors that pulled out and lit up too. So many cute corners and areas to have weddings and cozy gatherings. I would definitely come again.

I was golfing with my father a number of times in the last month and it was the grounds keeper todd who gave me a very uncomfortable feeling he was definitely on some sort of substance I could tell by his body movements then another time I caught him hooting like an owl on the golf course this resort is supposed to be a five star resort I felt like I was at the zoo, I really wasn't gonna say anything but I won't be going back until this Matter is resolved.

I stayed here because I was attending a wedding that was on site. Due to having to travel some distance, I requested an early check in (2:00 pm) so we could freshen up & change into our outfits for the wedding. I was told no, they don't do that & I'd have to call back the day I was to check in to "see if they had a room available to check in early". I explained that I would be traveling that day and wasn't sure I could call in. That didn't matter, they would not allow an early check in (only 2 hours prior to normal check in time of 4:00 pm). The 4 pm check in time was during the wedding ceremony so that was not a possibility. Thankfully I was able to call the morning of check in and was told "oh sure, you can check in anytime today"! Seriously, why the runaround? The room itself was nothing special, it was clean. The in-room refrigerator did not work (we picked up items to put in the refrigerator, needed to use a cooler), the door to the room was a bit out of alignment, so shutting it securely took a bit. Upon check out, I brought this to their attention, all that was done was an "oh I'm sorry". Over all facility was ok, nothing special, especially for the prices they charge. The pattern on the carpet in some of the halls was so worn, you couldn't see the pattern, it was bare spots & it could have used a good cleaning. Save yourself some money, stay elsewhere in Delevan &Uber to Lake Lawn if you need to attend anything there.

Extremely rude waitstaff at the 1878 restaurant. The manager was not welcoming or accommodating to our party at all.. servers spoke at us as if we were an inconvenience. It’s a shame that such beautiful restaurant is managed so poorly.
We requested 4 additional towels at the front desk (family of 4 stayed 2 nights). We received two towels and they were placed on our floor while we were away at dinner. How disgusting! Managers need to have a serious discussion with staff about providing thoughtful hospitality to their guest. Also, clean your windows and doors regularly. They’re all filthy!
Great views but will not be back due to how poorly we were treated.

At Lake Lawn we stayed in a 2 Full Bathroom Lodges King Loft Suite. We enjoy a nice room and this Suite did not disappoint!! Complete with every little convenience you could desire. Our room had been remodeled and was bright and clean and inviting. Sitting out by the Look Out Bar under an umbrella on a beautiful day looking out onto the outdoor pool and then onto Lake Delavan was very relaxing and peaceful. I felt our room was very clean. I also found our Shorewood Lodge location great as it was in the building with the indoor pool and very short walk to the outdoor pool and Look Out Bar. I just felt that the walk from parking the car into the building and down the hall to our room at the farthest end of the hallway wasn't bad at all. I felt that the staff were all friendly we interacted with and although we needed this time to just relax we did check out the indoor pool and the spa which we hope we could take advantage of the next time we return. Lake Lawn was easily accessible from I-90 to 43 and about 20 minutes to downtown Lake Geneva. Lake Lawn has really kept up with the times, while also maintaining a great customer friendly staff. We asked for our suite to have FULL LAKE VIEW and it was great sitting out on our balcony in our rockers watching the fisherman in their boats on a beautiful blue sky day. You will enjoy your stay!!!!!

I've been going to Lake Lawn since I was a child. Our first visit was in 1967. I know rooms because we go so often. I asked for room 1418 in Shorewood East...great view and it has a comfortable chair & ottoman. I also said rooms 1416 or 1417 would work because they have a nice view as well and a chair & ottoman. We were given room 1416 and when I walked in...no chair. Very disappointed. I called the desk and wanted to be moved. For my convenience, they sent someone to move a chair and ottoman in our room. Great service. The new restaurant is amazing. I highly recommend it. Breakfast is now being served in the new restaurant with a new breakfast menu, and it is also amazing.

The AC unit was draining into the room on the carpet. I was told someone Would come fix it When they arrived they had no clue what to do. HVAC maintenance would be in the next day. No one ever arrived. We put the kitchen garbage can under the drip in order to run the AC. It dripped all night long. I understand things happen but this is a customer service based business and they did not deliver on that it was not worth the money I paid for the room

We were disappointed in this well-known resort where my husband’s family used to vacation regularly. First, all of the front desk staff appeared to be trainees who weren’t quite sure what they were doing. We had paid extra for a room in the Lakeside Lodge which advertises “spectacular views” from its rooms. Well – most of our view was of a grassy hill; if we went 10 feet out from our cobweb-filled patio, we could just catch a glimpse of the lake. When we complained, we were told that they could move us to another room with a better view, but that it would cost us $70/night more. We pointed out that we had already paid extra for a room with a view, and after calling in another staff member (who was quick to tell us she wasn’t a manager), we got another room without paying extra, but it took about 40 minutes as we waited and waited for the staff to discuss this – behind closed doors. The new room was quite large, and had a lovely view out over the lake. But there was peeling paint and nails pops in the walls, as well as what appeared to be bird poop on the wall close to the sliding doors. There was no handle on the screen door and the door and screen were both filthy. Then we discovered that there were 2 very large deposits of bird poop out on the patio. Looking up we discovered a bird’s nest in the rafters, filled with eggs that hatched overnight. This pretty much made the patio unusable. In the big bathroom there was good counter space for toiletries and an adequate amount of towel bars/hooks, but the shampoo bottle was empty. Towels were OK, the bed linens were lovely. We never did get the floor fan we had requested at the time we made our reservation. The resort has beautiful grounds and a lovely setting on the lake, but the windows throughout were pretty grimy and needed a good washing. As for the restaurants – we were at the Lookout Bar twice – once for drinks and once for lunch. They were out of at least half of the beers on their draft menu and the hamburger was about the size of a small McDonald’s burger, and about 10 times the price. Service was a mixed bag – mediocre for drinks and pretty good for lunch. We had a lovely dinner at 1878 on the Lake, but our server had absolutely no idea how to open a wine bottle, nor how to pour from it once it was finally opened. All in all, it was a rather disappointing stay and we’ll probably look elsewhere next time we’re in the area.

Didn't even stay the night I paid for. I was staying here for 10 year anniversary. I requested lake front view room and the view was ok from room. Wasn't very romantic when you go to sit on patio and your neighbor literally took our chairs from our patio and were using it. I go inside room and can hear the couple talking in their room next to mine. We go for a walk along the path and there js a wedding. We were stopped and told we couldnt walk the path because of wedding. We werent even talking. Just wanted to walk the path. We werent even up next to the water or wedding and not in any view of a photographer. The bed so hard, myself and fiance couldn't lay on it for more than 30 min without pain. Found 2 black bugs crawling on wall next to bed.
1878 on the Lake was a horrible experience! I called ahead to reserve table next to window in a spot where its a little private and told them its our 10 year. We get there and was not given table requested and the one I did request had no one sitting there. We asked to move and they did move us. When we ordered food the waitress said would you like soup or salad like most places do. We ordered salad. After 40 minutes, food comes. Both steaks are very overcooked. They re cooked one of our steaks. Bring a new one 25 minutes later after I've finished my meal. The new steak was still cooked wrong. They offer us free dessert. Get the bill and find out they charge $10 for each salads. Why wasn't that mentioned when they ask? We would have said no salad. We were there for over 2 hrs due to the speed of service. I had plans for after dinner that was missed due to the time. Get back to the room and try to sleep but the rock solid bed and flat pillow made it impossible. We packed our things at 10pm and drove an hour home. Never coming back and recommend no one I know stays there or eats there. Extremely sad it happened on my 10 year anniversary.

we booked this expecting a "resort experience". I realize it's not a 5 star resort, but the website showed things like ice cream at one of the cafes open until 10pm daily. with starbucks coffee a big selling pont. we left busy lake genva early since we thought we could grab an ice cream at the resort, but we find out when we get here the ice cream snack bar is only open until 11am and no other place to grab a slice of pizza, a coffee , or an icecream cone.| so we went to the vending machine..warm sodas. we tried to salvage our dashed expectations by finding a nice adirindack on the lawn, since this is Lake Lawn resort. None on the lawn. Just a lone rocking chair, but when you are with a S. O. one chair is like no chairs. i guess we were supposed to bring our own? If half your services close on labor day and beyond, you should notify your customersin an email, and update your website to reflect this. the website tody still shows the cafe open unti 10p. so what we expected as a leisurely couple of days post high season of being able to sit by the lake and grab an afternoon coffee or ice cream is unavailable. so don't believe the website. also no housekeeping. when we tell them, no one cleaned our room, THAT'S when we sr ingformed housekeeping is only on the 3rd day of your stay. I thiught with expectstions mow st zero, it would be hard to go negative, but they did. that's fine they don't clean, but tell us so we don’t throw our towels on the floor thinking we'll get new ones. Oh, the starbucks that is part of the cafe only has limited milk products. this might seem petty, but it's resort. their business is providing services. and no attempt was made to remedy any of this. It might be a great place in the summer, but our experience was definitely lackjng.

I know I'm in the minority here, people seem to love this place, and I'm not sure why. Everything was.....fine. but for what you are paying, I expect more than fine.

For starters, if you are looking for a lake resort that has a beach and a place to swim in the lake, this is not it. There was one really small sandy area, with no chairs, that I think was where you could swim? But it was in between 2 marinas, so water was gross.

They had kayaks, paddle boats, and pontoon boats, but you had to pay extra for them. I get the pontoon boats, because of the maintenance, and cost of gas. But really? You charge me a large per night fee for a room in a hotel on a lake, and then charge me extra for lake activities? I've stayed at other lake resorts that charged a similar fee, and kayaks were free.

There were 2 outdoor pools and a kiddy pool,which were fine. Similar to a pool you might find at any hotel. No shade umbrellas. Pools got crowded, because of course they did. You cant swim in the lake, so where else will you swim.

Tennis courts again were fine. About the quality you'd find at a decent public park. No bench for sitting, no water. Again, fine, but im paying resort fees for what exactly?

Check in was also a bit of a mess. Really long line. Took a long time.

On the plus side, staff was friendly and helpful. They had a wine/cheese reception when you checked in. Roo.s were nice.

Overall, nothing that was horrible, but nothing that was great either. For what you pay, there are far better places

Everything was well kept and laid back. I went for a work conference. The staff were friendly, very helpful, worked hard and didn't seem overly stressed about being at work (staff seemed like they all worked together well and seemed treated well by employer). I love the history of Delavan Lake and the large rambling Lake Lawn resort has a big history too. Everything was convenient. Parking, food, lovely lake front. My room had a back door to the lawn. I got lost a couple times but found maps and people to set me straight. Staying at Lake Lawn is something of a time warp vacation and very lovely, unique, memorable, and mid west. Great for whole families making new memories!

I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life, less than 30 miles and never knew this lake even existed. I loved the whole weekend. The way the resort is laid out is genius. The beauty of the lake from the two bars is crazy and the dinner boat ride at sunset was top knock. I hope we come back next year!!

Update - 08/11/25. Many rooms and areas of the lodge have been updated over the last few years. A huge improvement and more of a lake house feel. Others still retain the classic "lodge" feel. Check the photos of the room you're reserving for the best idea of what you're getting. Restaurants are a bit pricey for what you get, but it's a resort and expected. Upon check-in Front Desk staff was young and could use some attention, but the rest of the staff was outstanding. Overall a great stay and we'll certainly be returning again and again.

Excellent family friendly resort that's only 15 minutes away from downtown Lake Geneva. Restaurants were excellent, rooms were comfortable, and they have an onsite marina so you can rent pontoons, powerboats, kayaks, etc for use on Lake Delevan. We had a wonderful time and will definitely stay again. Oh, one more thing - restaurants have limits due to covid so you'll want to make reservations. There are sanitizer stations everywhere to help keep your hands germ-free.

This place is beautiful and has much to do! So what!! When your customer service doesn't even measure up to a Motel 6, it falls on management. We came for a wedding and requested an early check in when we booked the room 8 months ago and were told to arrive by 11 and they'll do the best they can. We have our 2 month old grandchild with us and needed the room for our grandchild to nap and such, plus to get ready for wedding because we traveled a distance to get here. Not only were they after 4:00 letting us know we have our room but it cut into our family cocktail time. Rush and rush. No attempt to make our situation better. With an 8 month early booking and request a view and get the the parking lot and a filthy balcony and late getting into our room, our plans for bringing our family here again next year, will never happen. It's such a shame! So when management gets your money, good luck getting any service to make your experience better. Sayonara!

Old school resort. Clean and surprisingly quiet rooms with good minifridge for leftovers. The resort and golf course nicely landscaped and had ample parking. The signage when arriving was limited and threw us off as we weren't sure whether to park or pull up front in the narrow drive to check in? Most of the front desk attendents were pleasant but no one really was making any real effort to try and knock it out of the park. Overall energy was anticlimatic with half smiles and luke warm greetings which was somewhat of a let down to start our stay. ("There's no second chances when making a first impression!").

Pool is heated and had decent seating. Guests were good natured. Area was nice and had good aesthetics but we noticed that the water cleanliness dropped off significantly in afternoons. (Floating insects and human hair.) Pool attendents seemed to care little while working. Didn't greet guests at the gate qnd simply sat in their chairs collecting a paycheck.

We had a burger poolside which was bland but fries were good. Food servers by pool were very nice but it felt understaffed both days as we had long wait times. (40mins for one beer?) Beer/drinks were cold. Prices as a whole were exorbitant everywhere but then again you're on the lake and hotel options during summers are limited so its a trade off. Big box stores (i.e. Walmart and Kohls) are a 30 second drive away.

The live music outdoors on Sunday was very good and their afternoon boat cruise with unlimited ice cream was enjoyable for us and our daughter. The staff were very friendly and the cruise speaker grew up in the area, had a vast knowledge of the lakes history, and a good sense of humor which made it very memorable.

I had the honor of photographing 3 weddings at Lake Lawn Resort a few years back and found the experience absolutely wonderful. The weddings went off w/o a hitch, the service was perfect and the rooms were very comfortable. And most importantly my Brides and Grooms loved their weddings...Pictures coming...

Great experience for families and groups. Plenty of entertainment options and food on site. Close enough to other shopping and eating options outside the Resort.

We really appreciated to guest room with the loft. It allowed us to have more space and the second bathroom was a blessing!

Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced at any hotel I have ever stayed at. Waited until 8pm to get a room when check in was 4pm. Our family has stayed here for over 25 years. They wanted to charge me $1000 for a night when my brother cancelled a room the same day and asked if I could take his room over. They said they were sold out. I call BS as I parking lot wasn’t full and didn’t see more than 20 people all day. This place is a joke and not only lost a loyal family from many years but would never recommend to anyone with a half a brain.

They have a Ritz Carlton mindset with econoline service.

Easy to get to from Chicago. The rooms have been redecorated and refurnished with a fresh color scheme. Beds and pillows were very comfy, and the in room fridge was nice too.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Lake Lawn Resort. Vacationing with my family as a child in the late 70s brought back some wonderful memories and now I was able to share them with my family. We will definitely return someday!

They don’t do early check-ins, regardless of what they tell you. We were told we’d get in early if we came in person at 11:00 am. We ended up sitting there for five hours, when we could’ve done something else instead. Most of the desk clerks are trainees who aren’t authorized to do much for you. They consistently had the wrong name and phone number on my reservation despite correcting it 10 times. Accommodations were meh.

Excellent bar, grounds, and lake with a beautiful beach (water toys available to rent). Will return, friendly bartender staff with fresh herbs 🌿 in drinks 🍸 are superb. Great space for outings, golf, and don't forget to book a ride on the Queen to see all the lake views and live music on the upper deck.

Went for a wedding. The resort is way over priced on the weekends. Rooms are old and musty and the food onsite is only okay. The lake view is pretty. Overall, not worth a stay.

Resort is pretty and very nice. The room reservation was my issue. Requested a lake view and second floor. Upon booking (two months prior) told they could not guarantee our request and rooms assigned upon arrival. Not facing lake at all. Faced their Lake Home so that was my view which obstructs the lake. Also on first floor. The porch was filthy and first one had active birds nest over sliding door in first room. They moved us to room next door which was better but also balcony not clean and sliding screen was difficult to open and close. Had to buy bug spray in order to use as it was more a wooded area. Walking around the property there were plenty of rooms that could have accommodated our request. There was no way this was at full capacity. I would be hesitant to book here again not knowing what kind of room I would be getting.

We rented a boat on the water for two hours. The whole experience was exceptional. The staff was very attentive and hard working. It ran like a well oiled machine. We could not have been more impressed and give the whole operation a two thumbs up. Kudos!
