Great food, great drinks, toast almost as big as your head, great atmosphere... Big toast. Like #babygotbread big toast.
Server is my hero (as a former server myself - iykyk.) The minimal negative reviews we've ever seen just solidify this stance 😂. Because of these things sometimes there's a wait - sign the board and just know ur food is gonna be well worth every second of that wait... plan accordingly... Huge toast.
If you're in a hurry, uptight in general, or find yourself as someone who feels an rage- urge to argue on Facebook posts that you're "always a great tipper/you always tip well "... Try McDonald's on your way back home (to Illinois). Did I mention the toast is massive?

Food was great! The waiter didn't waste time and was very efficient. He took orders quickly and kept up with waters well. He has a dry sense of humor so come prepared! Pulled in to the parking lot only to get yelled at about how I was parking on the wrong side of the building, as lady stated oh my god walking away from us. Then she greets on the opposite side of the building yelling to our car before I’m even parked and when we open the car window to talk she just kept telling us how we should know where to be parking etc. needless to say, didn’t make it inside after that debacle.

Called to ask if they were open and this grouchy lady answers and says "yes unfortunately were open." And then she says "only until noon but my clock is 10 minutes fast so I'm closing at 11:50." Seriously?? That was our first time experience and that terrible customer service is a complete turn off. Get better service.

Bus people were very rude, food was actually good but took over an hour to come out with minimal people in the restaurant. Overheard another server saying he hates his life and wants summer to end so all of the people go away. One server got visibly upset with my group as we asked for more water then remarked that we “drink too much water”

If you are in the Minocqua area you need to eat at Lake Placid Inn. You better be hungry when you come because not only is the food fantastic but the portion size is second to none. I cannot describe to you how big the cinnamon roll is but just realize you can hardly see the dinner plate that it is sitting on. It could easily feed 6 adults. Doughnut holes and drinks are waiting for you as you take your seat. You have to sign in order to get a seat but that is part of the fun when you are at Placid Inn. Enjoy a drink and the Northwoods atmosphere as you wait. The French toast is fantastic and everything is homemade there really isn't anything you will not like. Remember winter is coming and come ready to eat like you are getting ready to hibernate.

Wow! Finally made it to Lake Placid Inn and every amazing review was right! Incredible breakfast, excellent service and such a quaint Northwoods atmosphere. The toast. Never thought I'd feel so obsessed with toast. Thick slices of the best homemade bread we've ever had. The bacon was smoky, hashbrowns crispy and eggs perfect. We rolled ourselves out of there and plan on wearing stretch waistband pants for the rest of the day.

Amazing food! Seafood this far off the beaten path?! The lobster and crab eggs Benedict were the best I have ever had.

Liked this place so much, came back again the next day for breakfast again, where I had seriously good biscuits and gravy! Home made from scratch and can’t be beat.

I was brought here by a friend of mine who talked about the breakfast every day before the trip for a week and I was not disappointed in the slightest. The food was out of this world and obviously cooked with care. The service was outstanding and our waiter was hands down the best waiter I’ve had in a long time. Fantastic breakfast! I'm pretty sure they are only open for breakfast, and maybe lunch, but not for dinner. This is close to some of the lodges around the lake, and we've eaten here twice. Rather, we've picked up breakfast and both times it has been sensational! You get a ton of food, freshly made, and a little bag of tiny donuts. Don't want donuts? TOO BAD - YOU ARE GETTING THEM! They are a nice added perk. Lots of taste and solid Wisconsin comfort food. Over the winter the snowmobilers stop here and you can see a line of them parked outside. The inside is dark themed, like it hasn't been remodeled since 1975, but I haven't eaten inside. I pickup, and roll. It's been cash only the last few times, and assume they are continuing in this tradition. They have an ATM inside. I had some trouble finding the menu online, but it is on some out of the way site (not theirs), where it was posted as a picture of the actual menu.

If you can't find the menu, the people are pleasant to speak with and you can just talk with them about what you want, and what they have. Both times I've placed the order and they ask me how far I am. They call me when it's time to leave, which is typically 5-10 min at the longest. The egg sandwich is my favorite, and you'll get toast so big for the sandwich bread, it makes Texas toast look tiny.
