We went there for the first time today an ordered a 3 piece chicken and a 4 piece chicken with each of us getting a milkshake. If you like thick milkshakes which can't be sucked with a straw and with questionable ice cream doused with syrup, this is the milkshake for you. The fries were good, the cheesecurds.... Let's just say that if Wisconsin had feelings about these cheese curds, well the state would be traumatized. If you are a cheesecurd connoisseur, run as far away from here as possible as they were worst we have ever had. The chicken was alright and breading was okay, but super greesy. Great selection of sauces. The staff was kind and courteous.

My boyfriend and I stopped at 9pm tonight for the first time just for a milkshake…no one in drive thru or inside, we were kind of thrown off but still wanted to try the milkshake. The order process was smooth and didn’t seem rude at all but as soon as I got to that window, I understood why no one was there.
Milkshake is great especially if you like them thick. Service was horrid. The dude at the widow couldn’t even tell me my total, he just stood there and took my card, shut the window. I waited for a minute and he opened the window with shake in hand and said “here you go” and I said thank you, he then looked at me for a second and then handed me my card and receipt, said “there ya go” again, and shut the window. All this dude could say to me was “there ya go”…not “have a nice night” or “you’re welcome”.
I won’t be going back at night, that’s for sure.

First time! Chicken fingers are freshly breaded, not frozen prepared.
I ordered two regular and one spicy - great heat on the spicy - so glad I didn’t get three!
Original are nicely seasoned and very tasty.
Subbed cheese curds for fries. Also delicious and there sure seemed to be fresh! Lightly dusted, unlike a certain WI custard chain that should know better!

The chicken tenders are excellent, along with the texas toast, bacon, and sauce. The price for a combo is very reasonable.

My only complaint is the cheese curds. The ones I got were big cubes of mostly batter, it seemed like. Maybe we are used to a different kind of fried cheese curd here in Wisconsin, as opposed to Texas? I was expecting solid cheese with a pull.

We’ve tried many different places over the years and nothing really stands up …most other chicken places end up being nothing but grease and have always left us feeling nauseous Devouring a bottle of Tums afterward. But this place is different!!!

They must have a secret way of making their chicken. It taste almost air fried and no grease. light airy and delicious no grease! …we can’t say enough about this new wonderful restaurant.

I’d like to say congratulations to the staff and to the management -for training the staff. They have the most friendly employees that offer product knowledge /suggestions and heartfelt smiles!

While many other fast food restaurants have employees that look completely burned out and look like they don’t want to be there this place offers nothing but 110% customer service. Thank you all.

I was going to skip Laynes as just another half baked chicken joint after hitting several of its competitors and being disappointed. It’s not life alteringly good. But it is just plain good. Simple. Not over spiced. Not over breaded. Wasn’t a fan of the Laynes sauce personally but the gravy was delicious. My wife myself and my kid was $30 and I would get the three piece next time not the five piece so that $ would be more like 25. Oh…. And if you like sweet tea served up right…. They got you covered.

Chicken was tender, juicy and crispy. Fries were good. I liked the honey mustard sauce. A 4pc meal with fries, toast, 2 sauces & a drink was $12 (amazing!). Service was great. Lost a star because the lemonade was disappointing (overly sweet & hardly any lemon flavor). Found the chairs uncomfortable while I was waiting (definitely get a booth if dining in). I wouldn't drive out of my way to eat here again, but I'll definitely stop next time I'm visiting Appleton.

Went here with some buddies, we each got a 5 tender combo, and within 3-5 minutes we all had our food, which was hot and fresh. Outstanding! I’ve tried a lot of competition recently, (Chick-fil-A, Dave’s hot chicken, Slim chickens & Popeyes) and Laynes is my favorite. I think they’re reasonably priced, the chicken is great, excellent choices of sauces, and their chicken wrap was also excellent. The service was great. The only downside to Laynes, it’s a bit tricky getting back into that location off of College Avenue, but worth the trip and I will be back.

Cheese curds were surprisingly good despite the kinda bizarre breading. The ranch and jalapeño ranch were both above average. I was looking for a quick bite before I went to the airport and came here. Dare I say, these might have been the best tenders and fries I have ever had. The staff was so friendly. Clean building. The food was so hot and fresh. The owner or manager, not entirely sure what his position was, was constantly evaluating the dining room, checking in with customers and taking menus out to people in the drive-thru.

This was our very first time trying Layne's. We were completely blown away. Having tried other chicken places, Layne's was far superior. We got the 5 piece original tender combo with a gravy & Laynes sauce. We also tried an order of the cheese curds. EVERYTHING was delicious. The chicken was flavorful and nice and crispy. The cheese curds were top notch. My only complaint (very small) was the gravy could have used a little more flavor. I felt it was missing something maybe more pepper or something. (Canes lol) I’m from Chicago and I was in the area for the Oshkosh air show and decided to give this place a try. The food here is better in every way. The sauce is better, the chicken is crispier, and there’s more menu items than the other place! Now I wish there was a Layne’s by me. The only thing I have to say was not too great were the cheese curds, the breading was a little strange. But everything else was delicious. I pretty much live off of chicken, and let me say, i have had just about all the big-name chicken places tenders before, and these ones are one of if not the best ones I've had! The chicken was hot, crispy, and had very good flavor. Fries were crispy, and texas toast was perfect! I will definitely be back in the near future. #giveemthefinger

Food was great and staff were kind, drive thru line moved quickly despite a lengthy line, which you wouldn't think would be the case with a newly opened restaurant with new staff. Impressive.

We just moved to Wisconsin from Arizona and we’re missing canes so we drove 2 hours to try Laynes chicken fingers and were pleasantly surprised!!! Completely agree with the ‘94 > ‘96 the chicken tenders were so flavorful the fries delicious and the cheese curds the best we’ve had!! We will definitely be back!!! We have definitely found our new chicken spot!!

I love chicken strips/fingers but it seems like most places are inconsistent. Layne's is the best chicken fingers I have ever had! Not exaggerating either. Absolutely impressed!

I came for the name (AiC/Layne...if you know, you know...even though it's unrelated as far as I know) and will stay for the chicken tenders. SO good. So fresh. The Layne sauce is DELICIOUS! The ranch is perfect. We will be back!

Honestly, I was a bit suspect as to the “94 > 96” branding and how they’re saying the quiet part pretty loudly comparing themselves to Canes.

I can say, however, that as someone who has viewed Canes as the premier chicken tender fast food joint, Laynes has met (and in some respects, exceeded) the comparative expectations.

Chicken is juicy, breading crispy (spicy is great too!), and the Laynes sauce is definitely a bit of a step up over Canes in most regards, tasting a bit more of worcestershire sauce and a hint of cayenne (respect to my boy Chef John) with maybe a bit less of a mayo/fatty flavor. Fries are an improvement, and the toast, while not better, is still great.

Also, at least here at the early days if opening, their staff is SUPER attentive and overall doing an amazing job.

Definitely going to be a regular spot for me, even though it’s on the other side of town.

Laynes was absolutely AMAZING! Surprised our staff by bringing us in lunch, and we were blown away by the sauces and the amazing quality and taste of the chicken. Love the kindness and hospitality of their staff as well- big thumbs up from the Wheel and Sprocket staff!

We had the store owner stop into our store a few days prior to their opening and he introduced himself and gave us some coupons and a few tenders, fries and sauces to try. We thought it was a very nice sentiment and we highly recommend stopping in not only for the friendliness but for the awesome food!
