We both got the Brisket Chili, which, is amazing. One of our favorites! He also got the Mac and cheese dinner with chicken and I got the 1/4 chicken- pulled, which came with two sides of choice. I got the corn bread and ribs and beans. Everything tasted so good and he didn’t finish his meal for once. The portion sizes are so big!

After hearing from multiple friends, that LD's meatloaf on Wednesdays is to die for, we decided to get two carryouts. I arrived at 11:30 in the morning, thinking everything would be as fresh as I could get. NOT! Arrived home, ready to enjoy what everyone raved about, and what a huge disappointment. I had two large pieces that were the ends. They were so dry and hard, I questioned if I got the right thing. My husband's serving was equally as large, but he had inner pieced and they were also overcooked and dry. The baked beans were plain and nothing special. I was told the beans had some meat in them and there was no sign of any. I guess we learned our lesson, $33 later. We will not recommend or be back. The place has changed.
P.S. my ride home was only 15 minutes away. Not enough time to dry out.

The girls taking orders were not friendly, it was basically what do you want like a grumpy cafeteria lady. Ordered the biggest sampler and the smaller sampler and was told she would bring out a sausage in 15 mins as they ran out, someone in my party of 5 received the last one. I waited half hour before going up and asking for it and was asked original or zippy? I didn’t know there was a choice, I just thought they were spicy as said person in my party didn’t even finish it because it was too spicy, I said original. The food got cold quick sitting inside so we packed it up and took it home an hour away and warmed it. I would come back try again as we don’t live in a perfect world.

Me and the wife where looking for a new place that had rib tips and to our delight we found LD’s BBQ in the search engine so we stopped by on our way home from the Wisconsin State Fair, we were very pleased with the quality and the quantity of the food is outstanding and the service we got very friendly people who had taken care of us. A huge letdown. Cannot understand the hype for this place. The brisket was chewy, dry, and devoid of flavor. It tasted like boiled desiccated meat. The three sauces available weren’t much help either. The rib tips were serviceable at least. Potato salad was one-note (tiny chunks of potato and nothing else). The Mac n cheese again, one note. I was able to pour a quarter cup of yellow cheesy water out of it… no crunch or flavor to it. The place was busy too, wasn’t a dead or super packed either. Inside was at least clean, friendly service.

Edit: I ended up here again and they were charging $1.08 for tap water. And they were out of nearly everything.

I went to rib fest in Elkhorn today, and the lines were so long at every vendor that I decided to take the 15 minute drive to LDs. I only waited a few minutes to place my order and sat down and enjoyed a delicious pulled pork sandwich pulled high. It was worth the ride! I also took home the brisket. Went there last year day after 4th of July. Everything was reheated, dry, tasteless except for the sausage. Great bbq doesn't require any sauces, should be juicy tasty without it. The brisket had a 1/16" ring and came out of a steam tray like at Golden Corral, tasteless. Was not cut to order. Chicken was dry, ribs the same. Sausage excellent. Sides excellent. Burnt ends Meatloaf the best. This is not the same place when it was located at 164 and 94 or at what is now Kwik Trip. Smaller portions, higher prices and lower quality. Ah the good old days.

I travel 30-40 miles to get to LD’s. The past couple of times I’ve came meat and sides have been sold out. Which is great for LD’s! But sad for me! I even try calling before I come but you cannot get through to anyone. I am happy LD’s is doing so well, however it has become almost an inconvenience to do carry out or order to-go. Starting with the online ordering, the website does not have a complete menu to order from. I’m not sure if it has to do with item availability or what but not too big of a deal. I figured I would try and call the order in. Only problem there is the phone is never answered. I called multiple times during different hour periods and at different times during the hour. The majority of my calls were during typical non-busy hours as well.

After not being able to order what I needed online, or by phone, I had no choice but to stand in line and order. The wait time from when I entered to when I had my food was 25 minutes. Not too long, but when I’ve already been gone all day I would like to just get food and go. Most of the food is not made to order (impossible to do with BBQ) and there are items that required and all in all time spent with each customer is about 2-3 minutes which is actually great. The problem is it’s a very noisy restaurant and I do not do well in busy places that loud. I love the food that Leon makes, it is insanely consistent I love supporting local businesses. I just wish the carry out ordering was improved to ease the process. I think it is completely ridiculous that the phone is never answered. I didn’t leave a voicemail because they specifically ask you not to on their automated message. I have left voicemails in the past with no response and have tried messenger with no response.

LD’s front of the house staff is amazing, fluid and very pleasant! They handle the pressure of a never ending line with ease. Take some of the pressure off of them by making ordering more convenient!

The short and sweet: great BBQ and generous portions. Easily some of the best I’ve had.
The long and detailed: I’d heard great things about LD’s years ago and finally got to stopping on my way home today. It lived up to the hype! I took my food to-go but the place was clean and ambiance fitting for a BBQ restaurant. I started an order online but had questions so I called and spoke to Ashley and eventually just placed my order with her. She was very helpful over the phone and was able to get me half pounds of the meats a la carte, which isn’t available via online ordering. I tried the ribs, tips, brisket and zippy sausage. The brisket was smoked, sliced, and presented perfectly - it was my favorite of the meats. The ribs were left naked and uncut (which I appreciated), again smoked perfectly - they were a close second. The tips were sauced, tender and very tasty - next time I’ll ask for them naked to better evaluate. The zippy sausage was great if that’s what you’re looking for - it had a little bit of a tangy/minimally-spicy bite to it.
I see why this place is popular and I will be back soon!
The only improvements I could suggest would be to offer the full menu online ordering, a little better signage for to-go pickup (I missed it if there was any and waited in line), and mark the names on the to-go sauces (I wanted to try all of them but will have to guess for next time).

Had the pulled chicken(x2) and spicy sausage. Both were delicious; as was the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce that I had. The chicken is nice and moist and the sausage had a good kick to it. This restaurant seems to make their own BBQ sauce in several different flavors. You can buy a bottle of your favorite flavor to take home with you. Potato salad was right on the verge of too wet but very good and i bought some to take home- i like mine super chunky. Coleslaw is less on the sweet side- more of a vinegary kind- pretty good. Their hoagie bread is great. recommend and will be returning next time I'm passing through. CLEAN, with Good atmosphere and decorations, they play good music at the perfect volume and have several different bottles of BBQ sauce at the tables.

Very very good BBQ. It's all about the sauces! The sauces are tremendous although I don't care for the mustard but if you like mustard that sauce has it; the Zippy is our favorite.
All the meat was cooked perfectly, wonderfully tender and juicy. I didn't give it five stars only because I didn't taste the smoke I can certainly see it. I was expecting to taste hickory or pecan or mesquite or apple in the pulled pork but those flavors weren't there. Maybe they just use oak? But overall very good. I'll go back!

I ordered four pulled pork sandwiches and a rack of ribs. Everybody in my family absolutely loved their food. But when I mentioned to LD (the owner) that I wished I would have went with the sampler, he went right back to the kitchen and brought me out samples of the chicken and brisket. The brisket and sausage are excellent. I love both so that is all I ever order. I have not tried the other meats. The beans are very good also. In the past I could order combination plates for a listed price. Now I have to order a la carte if I want the two meats I like. The four types of barbque sauces, free at each table, make the meal even better. There are plenty of take home containers easily available. I order enough to take home. The meats are not cheap, but what good barbecue meat is . I try to arrive at an early dinner hour, 3:30/4:00 as the place gets really busy and the lines get long as the 5:00/6:00 dinner hour approaches. The ribs ran out and there was a one hour wait for them. Sandwich options are cheaper but I would rather eat a full meal, not a sandwich. I drive over an hour to eat at this restaurant. Highly recommend.

The restaurant seemed to have changed, or just the atmosphere there. The sauces would normally be out so you can see it, we had to ask about it and they went to the truck to get it.
Got the food home and it was not good.
We have been patrons of LD’s since he was at the gas station ( best ever ).
Rib tips were burnt, the Mac N Cheese was Horrible! Got a half chicken, but luckily it was still Delicious. The Brisket was a bit dry, and being in that Mac n cheese made it worse. But overall it’s not the LD’s before the pandemic graced us. We drove all the way from West Allis to be dissatisfied!

I was in the area looking for a place to eat when LD's caught my eye. The place was very busy and there was a long line to order, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the owner chatting with the customers (he's a funny guy too!), giving out free refreshments/beer to thank us for our patience. The chicken was deliciously moist, the brisket slices were a good size and seasoned well, but the stars were definitely the ribs and the spicy sausage that they make in house. Also, DEFINITELY get the banana pudding because even though I was pretty full, it still tasted absolutely delicious. Aside from it being super packed (which is kind of a good thing), I don't see why you wouldn't stop by for some of the tastiest BBQ or food in the area! Definitely will be back again!

The best BBQ in the area! We come here often. My favorite is the pulled pork nachos, my husband's is The Darby with sausage & kids love the Mac & cheese. The cookies & banana bread pudding is also a favorite. Generous portions, clean atmosphere and the owner Leon is kind & outgoing to everyone who comes through the door!

Always a crowd when we visit. It's because the food is so very good. It's counter service and sit down or take out, but it’s not fast food. Delicious slow cook ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket along with yummy sides.

Top notch, bbq! I had the mix plate both times. Excellent brisket, ribs, and chicken as well as bbq meat loaf. The sides were all delicious; mac n cheese and bbq beans. The place was also packed. Both times, there was a queue to order food.

Been here several times. Best BBQ around. Food is always excellent . Staff is friendly and service is fast. The owner Leon is super friendly and down to earth and cares about his employees and customers. I would give this place 10 out of 10 all day long.

Amazing BBQ, definitely the best in our state. The service is always friendly and quick. The menu has everything you could ask for in a BBQ restaurant. The ribs are fantastic, the brisket is beyond good and the pulled pork is phenomenal. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves BBQ.

I'm a nationally certified Barbecue judge and had my first visit here.
It's a simple, place your order at the counter, carry it to the table place.
My lunch buddy and I both ordered the brisket sandwich. It was very good--tender with the right smokiness. There are a choice of BBQ sauces on each table and I tried a couple. I liked their original sauce the best.
The sides were also great. Their baked beans with rib pieces were excellent and their cornbread, although not warm, was very good.
I'm anxious to return for another taste of their menu. By the look of their trophies on display, they are really good at what they do.
They're out in the middle of nowhere but easily accessible from Milwaukee or Chicago via I-43.

Best rib tips i have ever had. Polite staff and great food. Drive 45mins to eat this awesome BBQ. We make the trip every year with the family to get a Xmas tree from Evergreen Acres then stop here after for lunch

We always stop at LD's when we're in the area. Their BBQ is excellent, the Mac'n cheese is good, and the banana pudding is extremely good. Everything is clean and well maintained every time. I love the fact that I've seen the owner behind the counter with his staff, and he's very friendly. We are happy to support this establishment.

I'm a Texan from TX. I know good BBQ and often make it myself. LD's is about the best BBQ I've ever had! Just today, the brisket they cut off of was all black on the outside, yet the meat inside was very moist, tender and tasty.
Today I was out on my Superbike motorcycle, and stopped in for lunch.
LD himself was there, came over and shook my hand. We had met years ago, not sure if he remembered. I know he was just being friendly and nice.
