This place changed its menu for fall on October 2025, the duck confit crepes were delicious, but the Lamb with beans and Parmesan fondue would’ve been amazing if the meat wasn’t actually cold on the bottom.
The Citron tart for dessert was delightful but so very hard to cut a piece out which was frustrating.
The music and the ambience were luxurious but sad that the food kinda ruined it for us especially since it’s high end pricing for dinner at least.

I’ve never been disappointed. My mom as super impressed when I took her to Le Reve.
I’ve been there a bunch. Always good but Sometimes the food surprises me with a truly next-level experience .
The lunch menu is affordable luxury. Had a great Pinot Blanc which is a hard one for me to find. Their Coffee is great too. Cheers

One of the highest quality restaurants my wife & I have experienced in the Milwaukee area and worth their price. Their menu offers solid variety and their specials do not disappoint. Their service is always on the top of their game for speed, accommodations, and drink pairing. Our go to dessert is the raspberry chocolate torte. The upstairs area gets a bit too loud for comfortable conversation unfortunately and parking can be tough especially during popular events.

Wonderful French dining experience. Overall have been very pleased. The brunch menu is superb. I am not a huge fan of French dining for dinner, so I personally haven't gone more than once. I do go in to order from the case though - dessert on the go!

Take a trip to a Parisian bistro in ‘Tosa! Gorgeous setting in what used to be a bank. Ultra high ceilings (?20 feet?), bustling, bursting with character. Bar seating, tables along wall or second floor tables. If you are really lucky, you will score the front window four top.
Delicious food and super cafe au lait (see my picture). I highly recommend the lamb sandwich (seasonal- spring and summer) and the duck confit sandwich (alternates seasons with lamb- fall and winter).
Mussels in Pernod also super, accompanied by French bread for dipping. The broth is so flavorful.
Desserts are are work of art and taste as good as they look. Paris Brest reliable favorite.
Service flawless.
Most highly recommend.

This place is really amazing. Great atmosphere and food, took me back to Paris. My only downside is that we were seated upstairs towards the back and IT WAS HOT! All of us were sweating by the time we left... but if we could still have a good time and enjoy ourselves given that everything else must be amazing!

This was a less than desirable experience. First of all, the maitre d was extremely rude and kinda condescending. I am disabled and went with my sister, who made a reservation in advance, as well as informed them of my condition in advance as well. She asked that we be given a table with ample room. When we arrived, the maitre d didn't acknowledge the previously made reservation/information or perhaps she just ignored it entirely. While my sister was inside the restaurant speaking with the maitre d, I was waiting outside, seated at a table for four people. When both women came outside, both my sister and I expressed that this table would be perfect and asked could we be seated. The maitre d curly said no, and proceeded to seat us at a small, round cramped table. I spent my entire meal with my walker handle poking me in my ribs. The table was so small that our waitress had difficulty placing what we ordered on the table and could only do so by either removing something else or transferring something prematurely to a carryout container and bringing it back once we were ready to leave. After we had been there for about 30 minutes, the maitre d seated a couple at the four-person table we had initially requested. They were both able-bodied people that could have easily been seated where we were with minimal difficulty. That was the final straw! Our waitress was decent but seemed a little overwhelmed. However, she was very pleasant and tried to be as accommodating as she could. The food was exceptional. But for me service is just as important as the cuisine. La Reve's service was extremely, extremely poor overall. It put a serious damper on the entire dining experience. I'll never go back there.

BLUF: Make sure you double check for allergen or extreme food dislikes prior to ordering.
Went for Saturday brunch and the location and atmosphere were really nice. We luckily found parking right away and were seated within 3 minutes as we had a reservation. Our waitress was pleasant and generally attentive. After previewing the menu 2-3 times beforehand (first time there) I ordered the basque omelette as to avoid making modifications to my meal. My wife's entree was well prepared and delicious however mine included onions of two varieties which were not listed on the menu. After two bites, I hit a chunk of undercooked onion and flagged down the waitress who after checking with the kitchen, was quick to explain that the peppers (stated red but green ones were in their too) and onions were mixed together after I pointed out the non-listing on the menu. I give the waitress credit for attempting to make things right by asking the kitchen for a new omelet on the fly without onion but my wife was done eating her entree by the time the offer was made. Ultimately they trashed the omelette and took it off the bill. Great potential in this place but they need to be more precise in their menu description.

Absolutely wonderful experience!! Me and my fiancée (got engaged today!) went here and our waitress Julia was beyond amazing! So kind and wonderful attitude, made our whole morning so much more special! She explained everything and answered all of our questions, and was so so very welcoming. She even treated us to a delicious dessert! The entire atmosphere of this cafe was beautiful and elegant. And the food was amazing! The pastries were delicious and baked to perfection! Cannot recommend this place enough!!!!

Visited with an out-of-town friend for breakfast. The food was great, but service was inexcusably poor/slow throughout. The restaurant was not busy — when seated, we were only the second table upstairs. The service really spoiled the experience. And, unfortunately, this was not the first time I’ve received disappointing service at this establishment.

Onion soup was very good not just salty onion beef water. Had the ribeye which was was also very good and a carmel dessert again very good. The flavorful food was worth spending a little more and I will be going back. If there was one gripe it would be the upstairs seating can be a little loud but it was a Saturday night with various large party tables having a bit too much wine and yelling over the table at each other so it's understandable.

I had Saturday lunch with a friend. I had made a reservation by phone the previous day but, when I got to Le Reve about 10 minutes in advance, the hostess couldn't find it. I gave my name and phone number, but no luck She looked and looked, left the host stand and came back, looked some more and then said she could get us in 15 minutes after the time of my reservation. I said that was not going to work. She looked at the book again and asked if I was [name] and then gave my phone number, 1 digit off. I said Yes and was led to a table upstairs. When my friend got to Le Reve about 10 minutes later, he got the same runaround about no reservation despite giving my first and last names and describing me. Fortunately, he called me and I was able to tell him where I was. That was a time-consuming little start to our lunch.
Once seated, things improved greatly. We started with a mimosa. I debated between my favorite Coquille St. Jacques crepe and a sandwich, but went with the sandwich after asking the waiter. It turned out to be a great choice. A poppy seed croissant spread with herbed cream cheese and then layered with lox, tomatoes, fried capets, and pickled red onions. Bagels and lox without the bagel - and SO much tastier! The croissant was fresh and the perfect container for all the goodies inside. I will definitely have that again sometime. A fresh salad with dijon dressing accompanied the sandwich. My friend had a tenderloin sandwich that he enjoyed as well. For dessert, we split a dome of chocolate covering small layers of cake that were raspberry flavored. It was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. I know I am not doing it justice with this description. It was a good size to split and a great way to finish an experience that hadn't started well.

Very good! Honestly prices are not bad and the food was outstanding. We just got standard stuff:charcuterie board, steak, lamb shank but it was all very well done, which means a lot in this day and agr. Loved the cherry old fashioned! It's a bit loud in there but not too bad overall for a Friday night.

The gnocchi aux fromages was so incredible, the cheese was so nice and melted, and the gnocchi itself literally melted in my mouth. The green beans with shallots were also amazing, although I did wish I had a bit of salt to add to them (there are no salt or pepper shakers on the tables). The cheesecake was good!

This is one of my husband and I's favorite places for a date night out and it NEVER disappoints. We always split the Scallop Crepe to start and I swear I forget just how good it tastes every single time--WOW. He usually gets the special and often times I opt for the ravioli and between the presentation of the food, the thoughtfulness of the ingredients, and the flavor--top notch every single time. And don't even get me started on dessert.
The staff are always incredibly friendly and the environment allows you to truly be present in the moment with your family. We love Le Reve!

After enjoying dinner in downtown Tosa, we stopped by to satisfy our sweet tooth with some treats. A cozy little spot to get a good meal or some desserts. The display case was filled with an array of beautifully crafted pastries, all looking almost too good to eat. We decided to go with a selection of macarons, which came in a variety of flavors, including vanilla, hazelnut, pistachio, chocolate, and raspberry, along with a few surprise flavors that weren’t listed on the menu. Each one had a crisp shell with a soft, flavorful filling. We couldn’t resist and started snacking on them as soon as we got to the car. It was the perfect little indulgence to end the evening, and we’ll definitely be back to try more!
I haven’t been in awhile to try their food but as we were picking out our desserts, the food going to the tables looked great!

My husband and I went to Le reve for brunch and the food was amazing! We both had the ham and Brie Benedict. Service was great and we had a very great experience. I accidentally left my purse there and didn’t notice until the next day. We were able to contact Le reve via email and the manager emailed us back right away that they still had it. It was a Sunday so normally they aren’t open but Amy was gracious enough to unlock the doors and meet us at the restaurant so I could have my pride with all my valuables right away. We are forever grateful!

Today we had a reservation for my father 92 birthday,. When we came we were told that our table is on a second floor without elevator, our father supposed to climb a steep stairway, which he can't otherwise we have to wait hr or more for table downstairs. When I asked for a manger, she could not accommodate our reservation. she did not even offer us a macaroon for spoiling my dad's birthday. Awful service.

This has to be my overall, favorite restaurant at the moment. High quality food, top notch service and great ambiance. I've been here for both lunch and dinner and both meals I had were out of this world.
Pictured below is what we had for lunch; the croque madame, steak sandwich and a chocolate caramel torte. Not pictured is our incredible dinner which consisted of crostini de brie, white wine steamed mussels, salad, baked french onion soup, roast duck, filet mignon, opera cake and raspberry dacquoise.
You have to come and see Le Reve for yourself, I promise that this fine establishment will not let you down.

Their hot chocolate is excellent, but the best part of our meal was the bread - by far!
The salad had no flavor, other than the taste of the fresh lettuce leaves. The mushrooms were O-K but would have benefited from a bit more salt or herbs (or garlic) and should have been served at a much higher temperature. The gnocchi also were not hot, and too cheesy and soft (but that might be just our preference). While the warm dishes were too cold, the chocolate mousse was too warm. (It was delish after refrigerating it at home).
The lights were too dim and once the place filled up, it was hard to carry on a conversation.

They ruined our anniversary bc they use Resy and didn’t get our notes about requests for a table upstairs. I really wanted to give this place a five star review bc the food and ambiance are great. However, they have a major problem with not reading the notes in their reservations. They default to putting people downstairs in the cafe area. So I specifically asked for a table upstairs, in the reservation notes, since it was our anniversary. We arrived, and they acted like we never made that reques. We were there when they opened and plenty of tables were open. We had to argue about needing a nice table upstairs and wait five minutes for them to figure it out. They didn’t even offer us a free drink or dessert or our troubles. Absolutely ruined the night. We shouldn’t have to complain on our ANNIVERSARY when we made our notes!!!!! Read your notes!!!! We can never trust this place again. Beware of the hassle!!!!!

La Rev has always been one of my favorite places, so I was surprised to be a bit underwhelmed last time I had lunch there with friends. We always try to get a table downstairs. It's less noisy, but this time we ate upstairs. Probably because there are many more tables upstairs and it's one big open space, the acoustics are terrible . In order to hear each other, shouting was the norm. My food was just OK . I also ordered a cappuccino that was not hot when it arrived. The waitstaff needs to get the specialty coffees / drinks from downstairs. By the time it got to the upper dining area, it was not steaming. I could have asked a waiter to mic it a little bit to heat it up, but he was so busy I didn't feel like adding another task to his day. BTW our waiter was wonderful. I will give them another try because generally, I do love their food, and they have that wonderful patisserie. If you don't have time to have a meal, it's worth stopping in just to check out the fabulous treats in the patisserie case.

Always have a wonderful experience when we go here. Food is always fantastic, and service matches. The chefs here are imaginative and have a real flair for taking a staple like french onion soup and finding a way to reinvent the wheel. The only reason the atmosphere is receiving 4 stars is because they do need to better designate a space for larger parties. On our most recent visit, we were there trying to have an intimate dinner, and toward the end, it got extremely loud... like could not even hear each other speak loud. They had sat a large, very loud party near us, which made the experience no longer enjoyable. I am not faulting them for the volume of this party. I'm just not sure if they can find a better way to try and maintain intimate dinner seating and have an area for a noisier crowd. Desserts are always a delight here as well. A must try if you are ever in the area.

Went to Reve for a date night with my lovely wife. Food was excellent! The muscles were delicious. Had the seafood paella and the duck crepe. Both excellent. We also had the chocolate carmel truffle dessert, which was rather rich but delicious. The atmosphere and service was also wonderful. The only down side was that it is rather pricey, so we may not be taking to many trips there. Would highly recommend though for any special occasion.

When we arrived, the receptionist took us to the 2nd floor even though we requested to sit on the 1st floor and there were empty tables but she said: " because of service reasons" which I didn't understand. (Minus stars for hospitality)
We ordered
-SOUPE À L’OIGNON GRANTINÉE French Onion Soup 8\10
-SALADE DE BETTERAVES 9\10
-OMELETTE BASQUE 8\10
-OEUFS BÉNÉICTE SAUMON 10\10 one of the best I tried in my life
-SANDWICH AU SAUMON 8\10
Not coming back.

There was four of us and all the food was good except for mine. I had a steak and it was raw inside. The waitress said that the chef has a problem cooking the ribeyes for some reason. I didn’t send it back. I took it home and cooked it properly the next day. All the other food was delicious and the service was outstanding.

I've been to Le Reve many times over the past 10 years, most recently on 9/18/24 when I went with a friend. We had the butternut squash ravioli, the heirloom tomato salad, and the Viognier wine plus the chocolate raspberry dome and a lemon pastry. The food and wine were all excellent, and we had the best service I've had anywhere in a long time. Le Reve is one of the best restaurants in the Milwaukee area because they remember that people go out to eat for a special and memorable experience and they deliver it every time. Thank you!

Went for brunch. I had salmon eggs Benedict, really good. Not as pricey as you might think. Definitely worth trying. I'd go back.

The menu at La Reve is classic French, and the food is well-prepared. The pâté de Campagne sandwich ($15.95 plus tax) has pork pâté, cheese and cornichons served in a crusty baguette. The fries, as expected from a French bistro, are done just right. The bi-level dining areas are simple, unfussy and comfortable.

Truly feels French, in decor- the outdoor seating as well as the indoor space are comfortable and lovely, as well as menu- which is nothing you will find in a typical American breakfast or bakery spot.

I just moved from a large city with world renowned food and was pleasantly surprised to find that this restaurant is home to the best French food I have ever tasted. The croissants are incredible and so is the hot chocolate. My parents came to visit and we went many times over their two week stay because it is so delicious. My mom lived in Europe when she was younger and said the hot chocolate and croissants are as good as the ones in Paris. I was blown away and cannot wait to go back. Heads up: parking is a bit of an annoyance. Usually there are spaces but the city of Wauwatosa will give you a parking ticket for not backing into the parking space.

Service is a little slow but the food is absolutely worth the wait. I've visited twice and both times were equally delicious. The wait staff are friendly and the space wasn't too loud even though it was busy. The omelette is sooooo fluffy like a crepe and croissants are flaky, buttery goodness. Bought a few patisserie as well. The eclair set a very high bar (I've been to France and these are just as good if not better). Even my friend who isn't a fan of macarons was gushing about this place's.

I dine at La Reve once a year(sometimes twice) when my retired parents come into town. They have nostalgic feelings about their go to French bistro in Tosa. In the last 10 years I have never felt this way(won't get into that)
Sat without any water for about 12 min.
For the first time, we all got steaks. Usually everyone gets fish, or a traditional French dish. Both mine and my gfs Strips were very overcooked. Mine bw well and med well, my gf's bw med-med well (we both ordered medium rare). I refuse to return food(especially steak) out of principle. Food waste is a serious problem. My parents were very persistent that my gf should return hers. After 7 min of sitting with the cut up steak they finally pressured her to walk the steak over to the server cause she was swamped with tables and we were at the far end of her section. 5 min later she returns with the plate to tell us that the lighting is weird in here and that it was perfectly cooked according to the chefs.
In case you don't know, freshly cut meat(even well done cooked meat) will turn red when exposed to oxygen for awhile. This is basic food science. The steak had over 10 min to start changing color, and the appearance of any color of red doesn't change the fact that both our steaks were dry and mealy.
The chefs had not made any fresh cuts to inspect the center, merely glanced at the color and probably berated the server into trying to get my gf to change her mind. She said they had already fired another order but wanted to see if she'd change her mind so she could stop the chef. (This was a lie, chefs can't unfire steaks on the grill, they were just gonna steal someone else's steak for her)
As she hovered over the table with the evidence of my gfs mistake for what felt like an eternity but was really only 20 seconds, my gf freezes when confronted and my dad looked absolutely disgusted and I couldn't help but start laughing. Server leaves, family incredulous, I finally feel vindicated.
Everyone's dinner res was at 630, the place was packed. I don't blame the cooks or the server(mistakes happen). Bringing the steak back to tell us we were wrong was quite insulting.
I also feel like I should point out that whoever was running saute made me one of the best sides of risotto I've ever had(summer corn w/ a parsley chimichurri I think). My steak was dry and grainy though. I was finished eating by the time she got her plate. Steak cooked medium rare(and actually juicy). It was a very good steak, good enough that I actually regretted not sending mine back too.
Thankfully, with the veil finally lifted from my parents eyes I won't ever have to eat here again. They should really bring the croque monsieur back to the dinner menu cause it's hard to mess that one up. If you're in the mood for steak go to Mr Bs. Even outback will do better, and they won't try to shame you. If you insist on ordering steak here, order 2 temp levels below your target cause they use their own scale of doneness here.

This beautiful French restaurant is one of my favorite places for brunch in Wauwatosa/Milwaukee area. Their hors doeuvre of the crostini de brie is so addicting you'll want another order. It's so warm and sweet with the drizzled honey. You can't go wrong with any of the entrees but the salmon benedict is delish. And don't forget to take one of their delicious pastries to go on the way out! Their selection is amazing.

Sat outside on a Saturday for breakfast. Our server, Sereniti, was just excellent. She was friendly, funny, had several tables and never missed a beat keeping up with everyone. The food and pastries were just excellent, the atmosphere is great both outside and inside, you have to look in the pastry case. Wow. Absolutely recommend this place. Returned a year later, had dinner and it was also excellent and the service was good. Very French for dinner, but I had a filet and it was great.

My wife and I love coming here so much, and we never leave hungry or disappointed! I have the filet mignon, and I asked for it to be cooked rare, and that morsel of perfection melted in my mouth like butter! And I never leave without having my favorite desert, raspberry dacquoise! The server was very knowledgeable and performed her task with the skill and grace that could not be matched anywhere in the United States! I can't wait to come back for their next repeat performance!🥰🤤

Was really bummed today when I went to La Reve. We were waiting for a hostess for awhile, when she finally came she sat us at a table that worked for my particular disability. She went to clean it off (it had just been vacated) when another hostess came out and told me she couldn't sit us there, she needed a "four top." And tried to push us to a table on a steep angle soon to be in the sun.
I apologized and said that table wouldn't work for my needs and I was confused because we had already been sat. She said she had just had someone CALL IN with a dog and they needed the four seat table for their DOG. It wasn't someone who was there, it wasn't a larger party. It was a dog.
We thanked her for her time. Informed her the table wouldn't work and we would be dining at a different establishment.
It was a real bummer because I was beyond excited to try their food. Maybe I will go back, hopefully by then they have a policy prioritizing actual humans waiting in line over dog call ins.
Thanks for listening to my little story on the first day of Disability Pride Month. 🥲

A little taste of France in Wauwatosa! Excellent little patisserie, with a menu that will cause you all sorts of problems because there's nothing that doesn't sound (and taste) good. We started with the 5-piece charcuterie board and everything on it was top notch. For mains we went with the salmon sandwich, the chicken and ham sandwich and the scallop crepes. Everything was cooked to perfection, the portions were just right, and even the accompanying pomme frites were crisp and tasty. We took a few pastries home for dessert as we couldn't quite manage them at the time. The pastries (and crepes) are sort of what this place is known for, and they don't disappoint. Our server, Madeline, was brilliant from start to finish. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. Drinks were first class and prices reasonable. If you're looking for simple but delicious French fare in this part of town, you will absolutely love this place. Highly recommend.

Nice setting.
Pastries were out of stock, all the pastries include some kind of filling or fruit
Which I never cared for taste wise, but looks pretty. I wish they made simple
Dessert options as well
for picky eaters like me…
The food looks stunning but was actually disgusting...
Not a lot of pasta options which is disappointing.
Won’t be back again, but glad I finally tried it.
