Went with a large group of adults and some kids, felt awkward being put directly in the middle of the restraunt even though there were tons of tables open in the back. People at the restraunt (both staff and guests) were upset because we were taking up the walkway and they were struggling to walk through, but we did not choose to sit here. Only one staff member had a good attitude but unfortunately she wasn’t the one helping us. We got some attitude for asking for a kids menu, even though we had 3 kids. I understand it’s a busy time of year but there is no need to get frustrated when we aren’t ready to order. Almost all food came cold, and someone actually choked on a hair baked into their dumpling. Heard them complaining through the restroom before leaving that we didn’t tip enough and we were very needy. We also got charged for more items than we ordered but just wanted to get out with our kids so we chose not to fight it. We tip based off service not because we are obligated. Mentioned something to some other businesses and they said they have also heard other family’s having issues. Hopefully this is just an issue with being short staffed or something, but we will most likely not be coming again.

We got there about 4 pm today, Friday, October 3rd. There were 3 other tables and only 1 waitress at the time. The waitress took our order right away. My husband ordered a bowl of soup. After a while, she brought our food but never brought his soup. The food was good, although the fish portions were smaller than we anticipated. Our server never came back to check in us and see how things were going, no drink refills, no ketchup. When she came back to clear plates, she did she was going to ask how the food was, but we were done already. This particular server kept complaining, loud enough for all customers to hear, that she's "sick of these Fridays! We should strike!!" She left the check, and my husband looked at it while she was at the table still and mentioned that he had never gotten his soup. She said, "Oh, sorry, do you want that to go?" He said no, thank you. She brought the revised bill back and we went up to pay. He used a debit card and when the prompt came up for tip, he pushed no tip but it didn't go through so the same server pushed tip for him. It automatically gave her a $5 tip. That's incredibly bold of the server who provided poor, poor service. We come up every year for Cranberryfest and frequent Leif's often during our few days visit. We were going to go tomorrow for breakfast but have decided to go elsewhere.

I was a waitress at this restaurant. Dont usually write reviews but felt like i should to save anyone else from working here. I would never recommend anyone to work for these owners. They dont value their employees, verbally abuse you and just treat their business like an atm and dont care about quality or professionalism. The wife (owner) screams at her employees in front of the whole restaurant. And the little ear pieces you see the waitresses wear? The owner (Marie) will grab a ear piece, go downstairs and watch the cameras and then scream at the servers through the ear piece instead of coming up to help when its needed. She also threatened to take tips out of our tip jars if we forgot to offer dessert to our tables. Stay far away if your looking for a job.

My food burger was terrible. The burger, bacon, and cheese were scorched all around the outside. I broke off a bunch of the black and tried eating it but it was too burnt for me. The cook should never have sent it out to be served to a customer. It was disgusting and I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. I like burnt brats and hot dogs, but not scorched like this burger was. My husband's burger was good, the fries were good, and the chicken dumpling soup my husband had was good too. It was just my burger that was bad. Loved our waitress. She apologized and didn't charge me for my meal.

We ordered our food, took 45 minutes to get our food. One of our people in our party got the wrong order, waitress didn’t come to our table for another 10 minutes and then once we did and she said they would fix it right away. We sat and finished our food, he still didn’t get it. Our food was extremely underwhelming as well, and portions were small. It was another 25 minutes and we ended up leaving and he didn’t eat. Won’t return because the waitress didn’t even try and make it up or better. Terrible experience.

The hostess (owner) was the most rude person we have run into in the Northwoods. We live just south of Three Lakes. It appears that if she doesn’t recognize people as locals she is just rude. Honestly she was pretty rude to everyone. Food was just average/below average. Small sizes. There are much better and friendlier choices. We certainly won’t be back.

Terrible experience. They had no tables for 10 at all. We agreed to 2 tables. They told us we couldn't move the tables together and we were getting 2 different servers so our food wouldn't come out together. Ok, I guess but then when we sat They asked where the rest of the party was. We said my disabled mom was on her way in from the car. They then made us all get up and gave our tables away because the full party wasn't there. She was walking in with her walker! She is unable to stand in line for the 45 minutes they had the first time. Now you demand she stands inside and waits for a second time? No thank you, We left!!!! You lost a party of 10 to friendship house whice sat us immediately and had all of out food out together withing 30 minutes! Your hostess should be fired leif's cafe!!!!!

Mexican breakfast burrito is great. Lots of chorizo. Tortilla wrap is paper thin and tasty, not cardboard like some places. Highly recommend. By the way there is no wait if you get here early. But in high season if you show up at peak times yes there will be a way to because the food is good.
Don't miss desserts, Apple pie and chocolate cake are excellent. Prices are great too.

Parking lot was full of cars, people waiting to be seated, we thought Oh Oh , this does not look good for my Fathers Day brunch but the hostess walked to the back of the dining area and took my wife and I to a table where we were waited on promptly by a polite young man who took our order. It was just blah. Our server was in a pair of gym shorts and had no personality. First words out of his mouth "whatcha drinking" I ordered the lunch break and then I get soup, salad and a half crab salad sandwich which was very blah. And he charged me for things I didn't even order. The hamburger soup he called it was not good at all. The atmosphere was nice but food and service not so much. It was a first time but not again. Just not for us. I would try a different restaurant if you are reading this.

Been here several times and every time is a very unpleasant visit. The minute you walk in the atmosphere make you feels as if you bothered the owner by being there. They are hard on their wait staff so you either get a really rushed experience or faked happy experience that makes for a weird experience all round. All the food is pretty decent, Just can’t bring ourselves to support this place any longer especially with other place nearby that are glad to have guests, and food is just as good.

I visited on a busy Sunday morning, the place was full. Even though their was plenty of wait staff everybody seemed unusually overwhelmed. I noticed most of the tension was between the staff and one person. Didn't take long to figure out it was the owner. I manage a team and it took me 10 minutes to figure out this owner clearly doesn't know how to treat her people well. The whole experience was very distracting. I honestly had to console our waitress as she was holding back tears. I've never written a review of a restaurant that didn't spend the majority of the time critiquing the food but here we are. By the way the food was great. I don't know if I should tell you to pass on this place or go there to support the wait staff, you decide.

Leif's Cafe has plenty of seating inside and out. My wife and I had breakfast there on Sunday late morning, and the place was packed. To our surprise, the waitress assigned to our table was able to take our order and get our food to us in a timely manner, despite the fact that she was nearly running the entire time we were in the restaurant. The food was hot, plentiful, and of good quality. Our heart goes out to the hard-working waitresses in this establishment for their extreme efficiency.

We'd definitely patronize this restaurant again the next time we're in the area.

Hands down the worse burger I've ever had. I ordered the Bourbon Burger. What I got looked disgusting. The bun was soaked in sauce to the point where I couldn't pick it up. And the mushrooms came raw, with no sauce. They were not sauteed like they menu said they would be. The waitresses never came over to check on the food and I left my burger almost untouched.

The restaurant also had quite a few flys that kept landing on my food. The carpet was covered with food. If they can't keep the dining area open I hate to think what the kitchen looks like.

Pretty great breakfast. We had a party of 7 and everyone had something different with zero complaints. From typical American breakfast to British dishes and even fish, everyone was encouraging each other to try their plate. Even the cost was very reasonable at around $10 per person. The only complaint I heard was that they only make the potato pancakes on Friday, which we were looking forward to on our return trip on Saturday.
