I can't say for the rooms because we only went for dinner. The food was delicious, everything was clean. The best thing was the service the young lady worked very hard at taking care of everyone, and always had a smile on her face. We gave her a compliment and asked to speak to her boss. We spoke to Lena and told her how great our waitress was. With food like that and service like that we will be coming back frequently.

I went there with my family for a Friday fish fry. They were busy but not crowded and we were seated immediately even though there were seven of us. There was a variety of fish options so we were all able to choose our favorites. The salad bar included the usual items in addition to pasta salads, cheese spread, soups, etc. The back of the dining room is a wall of windows and we were lucky enough to be there as the sun was setting over the lake and the sky was a beautiful shade of purple and pink. The service was very good and it was an overall great experience. Truly a hidden gem!

We stayed at Lena’s for a wedding that was near by. We had one of the studio units. It was clean and cute / cozy. The restaurant on site had amazing food - best in the area. We rented a pontoon one day which was perfect. The lake is very large and was a picturesque setting for our stay. Would recommend!

I had a terrible experience at the seafood buffet. The food was disgusting, with the fish being noticeably undercooked, making it unsafe and unappetizing. To make matters worse, the owner Lena was incredibly rude, showing no concern for our complaints. The overall experience was so poor that I would never return to this restaurant. Very very disappointed in the “Smoked BBQ Buffet”. Drove over 5 hours to visit family and plan a nice dinner and was beyond disappointed. Seen this place on facebook and thought it looked damn good but boy was I wrong. Service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. Calling it a BBQ Buffet and there were 5 protein options and 4 sides. No beef option. Almost all the food was cold or dry as sawdust. It’s bad when the lemonade was the best part. The corn was beyond terrible the cows wouldn’t even have eaten it. The chicken was extremely dry and flavorless. The Cajun catfish was the best food option and was clearly a highlight because as soon as it hit the pan it was gone. $32 for the buffet is outrageous for the food options available. The salad bar was also depressing, most of the containers were empty.

I saw a Facebook reel advertising the smoked BBQ Saturday buffet a few weeks ago and we made the decision to make the 1 -1/2 hour trip(one way) there for the buffet last Saturday. I was so excited thinking I had found a place my family was going to love. We arrived around 7pm, they had us wait standing in the doorway for 15-20 minutes before being seated. There were open tables, including 1 completely set and ready ( for 8). There was 5 of us, with no others waiting to be seated, until a table for 6 was cleaned off and set. There appeared to be 1 waitress inside, 1 outside on the deck, 1 hostess, 1 busser, who disappeared mid clean up and the hostess took over cleaning. We were there for the buffet so we didn't need to see menus, something we in retrospect should have went up and looked at the buffet before deciding on it. You can see some of the salad bar from the doorway , but not around the corner to where the main entrees are. Let's just say it was very disappointing. I understand changing up the menu a little bit but there were were so few options and of lesser quality. No crawfish boil, no sirloin, no pork belly, no elevated sides, however their mashed potatoes & gravy were good. No dessert, overcooked corn. The salad bar was good with a lot of topping and dressing options. We received our bill and were shocked that it was $187 for 5 buffets, 2 craft beers, and 3 sodas. Had the buffet been as advertised or comparable, it would have been more on target, but not for what was available on that night. If it had been as amazing as we were hoping, we would definitely try it again, but not with the uncertainty of hitting it on a subpar menu night.

We only stopped by for dinner since it's one of the couple restaurants on the lake. It's a beautiful area and pleasant restaurant. We enjoyed the walleye and the complimentary soup and salad bar with purchase of an entree. I also highly recommend NOT ordering the fries because they are incredibly bland. Get the baked potato instead. The biggest issue was the service. We waited 10 minutes to be seated and then even longer for a menu and drinks. The restaurant was a bit over half full and it took an hour to be served our food from ordering. In general, there is a good food and a nice location, but don't come here in a hurry!

The dining area is still appealing, even when the food was anything but. We had the Saturday prime rib & bbq buffet specials - 5 of 5 people were disappointed in the quality and flavor. The pork ribs were undercooked, beef ribs overcooked and overall, difficult to consume. While appearing to have potential, the prime rib should have measured up, but alas the compensation came as intensely salty au jus. Was anticipating this meal, but greatly discouraged.

My girlfriend and I were first-time visitors on Saturday, Feb 1, and had a late-afternoon lunch. We ordered a sampler appetizer of fried cheese curds, onion rings, and mushrooms, which was great, but the 6-piece chicken tenders were even better! They were HUGE, fresh chicken breast, and hand-battered....delicious!

But wait....it gets even better! We had just missed the start of their Saturday meat buffet, which looked OUTSTANDING and I'm definitely going back again to try that, as I had never seen anything quite like it. Various smoked meats and delicious-looking sides.

Furthermore, they had an excellent salad bar with absolutely loaded potato and sausage soup, and a container with fresh mashed potatoes.

The dining room, bar, and entire grounds were very clean and organized, and it's obvious the owners take a lot of pride in it...so nice to see!

Went there not long after reopening under the new owner on a Saturday night, prime rib was delicious. Went tonight and the prime rib was just ok, potato pancakes awful, baked potato was dried out and hard. Restaurant Customer: Not like the old Bob's Northern Pines! The only good thing about the restaurant is the same old view of the lake! The fish somehow managed to be both completely dried out texturally, yet still served on the plate in a pool of water, no seasoning at all. The green beans had no seasoning at all. The only thing edible was the (likely bulk bought) dinner roll. I am guessing that "Chef Mike" does a lot of the cooking around here these days. Prices are out of control for what amounts to a microwaved dinner. Service times were not good for a completely empty, rainy summer weeknight. If this place wants to be a bar, with bar food, fine. Just get a pizza oven and a deep fryer and limit your menu.

Seated quickly, that was the best part of service, slow drinks, even slower food. 2.5 hours or more after being seated to get a two-top, three entrees. I was excited and sure, a Friday night, but c'mon really, by the time I asked to get our order to go, the place had cleared out and it was still another forty minutes plus. Never in my life have I ever, and never again.
The seven-top after us got served and finished before us even though they arrived and ordered long after us. I was hoping the food would have a stellar handcrafted element, given that I could have caught and cleaned and cooked the fish faster myself, but alas the food is sub par at best, the fish cold and bland, the potato pancakes raw in the center, the chicken Tuscany came out as Alfredo and the au jus on the loaded French dip tastes much akin to beef flavored ramen packets, gross and expensive, not good enough for my dogs let alone human consumption.
The waitress did try to make amends and compensated the drinks for free so I'll give the one star otherwise no redeeming qualities.

My family and I would frequent this establishment when we would stay at our cabin, and were always satisfied with our meals, service, and the cost. We stopped in there last weekend, and noticed it was under new ownership. Most of the items on the menu were the same, but also notice the prices almost doubled. That generally isn't that big of a concern now a days with inflation, and new ownership. The problem we had was it took close to two hours to get our food, and when got our order it was cold. Another issue we had was the fish was raw in the middle and had to be sent back to the kitchen. When got the fish back it was so overcooked it was like chewing on a rubber tire. It also seemed poorly managed, which I get with new owners. Long story short, we don't plan on every stopping back to Lena's Northern Pines in the future. The menu prices where to high for the low quality food.

To tell you the truth, my parents ran this place in the 60s when it was called "Metzes (not sure of the spelling(Metzes)) Landing". I was about 12 or 13 years old. It was great living there, swimming, boating, and water skiing, I visited Northern Pines Resort in 2022, and I'm so happy that they re-did this place. Over an hour wait for two taco salads.
The waitress was friendly and accommodating however when asked to speak to a manager, a waiter was sent who was rude. Cabin 5 is great and so is the location and view. My issue is with the price almost doubling in one year. We stayed in the same cabin for a week last fall and just again last week. They did add one new memory foam mattress to the cabin. Also a new heat/AC unit. Other than that the cabin was exactly the same. The same stained couch and recliner. Dust on the walls and pictures/decor. They also added a $25 per night per dog fee. I understand not all will bring dogs but most other cabins had at least one dog last week. All in we spent over $1700 for a one week stay. Compared to between $700-$800 one year ago. Also we had a gas leak in the cabin one day which was resolved but I had to turn the gas off to the stove and water heater myself. I was not notified that the problem was fixed and waited 4 hours until I went back and found out. We were given a coupon for $5 off our bill at the resort. At least there’s that. We did not eat there. It’s a great cabin and location but in my opinion, there are other houses and cabins to rent that are just as nice and you’ll save several hundred dollars.

Find it interesting when a resort-eating establishment get 1/5 and 5/5 reviews. We stayed for a week recently, the place is awesome, while we didn't go to eat, some folks in are party did, and all said the food was good. We did have difficulties with reservations, was told they do Saturday to Saturday only, but two cabins we reserved had people in them Saturday night, leaving Sunday morning. I'm putting this in the lack of communication, lack of help, new ownership, etc. This place is really capable of a 5/5 rating, the people that were there did their best to make our stay enjoyable, We will give it another try someday, truly capable of a 5/5 overall rating! Group of 13 entered a busy bar "manager" on phone texting didn't acknowledge a single person in our group. Had to go to outdoor bar for drinks and to order our food. Supposedly 3 people in our groups order wasn't entered. The waitress never came back to ask about drink refills or if our food was good. At the request of my husband, we came for the Father's Day meal. We were very understanding that it would take awhile for our food being a special day. Our waitress explained how they just hadn't prepared for the large turnout. We assured her it wasn't a problem.
We weren't very happy with how picked over the salad bar was, and when we got our food it was barely warm. The ribs disappointed us the most as every other time we've had them they were delicious. This night, they were bland and hardly had any sauce on them as well as being cold.

And they were not given us what we ordered, some were missing things. We had to ask for ketchup and salt. It was just not very good service. I would not recommend this place.

Absolutely awful. My significant other and I walked in and stood in the doorway based on the "Please wait to be seated" sign. Five minutes later someone asked us if we wanted a table. (Duh?) She brought us to a spot and didn't say another word to us for about ten minutes until another waitress came up and asked us if we had gotten menus. She handed us some. We proceeded to sit yet again for another twenty to twenty five minutes -- no one came to get our order or even ask if we wanted a drink. I realize it was somewhat busy, but I've been in restaurants that were a lot busier and had great service. As we were still sitting there two customers walked out and told us that the food was almost worst than the service (if that was possible!) and they suggested a different restaurant. So after nearly a half hour of waiting, we left and went to another place. Would not suggest this place to anyone.
