Everything was absolutely delicious! Our waiter was fun and funny, but didn’t hover unnecessarily. We were able to sit here long after we were done e eating to talk and catch up with each other. Everything and everywhere was super clean, including the bathroom. They were even cleaning the windows while we were there. I think this is the second time I’ve been here and both times were top-notch!!

We made an advanced reservation as it was a Friday and I'm we did as it is popular on that day here. They placed us in a perfect spot too. We all different plates and we shared cheese curds which were delightful! I'm very specific about cheese and deep fried cheese curds so not my all time favs but still highly on my list with their tangy spicey flavor dipping sauce.
Extra sauces available but I'm a fan of smoked foods too and this pork is an excellent representation of what Madison BBQ should be!
I'd do a sample platter of all their smoked food if I thought I could eat it all in 1 sitting. That being said I very happy with the portion and every detail of the smooth flavors, tender texture and competition quality and plated visual too. These folks are doing everything right on a Friday service.

Highly don’t recommend this place. Went here two hours prior to a concert at Camp Randall for dinner, after continuous requests when our food would be served (1.5 hours later), they came up with excuses. Blamed it on people calling in that day due to the concert, BUT they had the audacity to literally yell at us and cause a scene. They then accused us of serving our food already, when we then asked them to check camera footage that they didn’t actually serve us. Manager seemed polite at first, and told us he would follow up with an email and he never did. He even threatened to take away our already paid for vouchers to get on a bus to the stadium. Talking to others, this is a common issue. Do not go here!

I had high hopes for Liberty Station, but unfortunately, our experience was anything but enjoyable. I ordered the Texas brisket and specifically asked for half lean and half fatty. What I received was literally just that—half the plate was dry lean brisket, and the other half was nothing but pure fat trimmings, not the flavorful brisket point that any BBQ spot worth its salt would know to serve.

I politely let the server know, clarifying that by "fatty," I meant the point cut of the brisket. He took the plate back and returned with more lean brisket—just as dry as the first round. No flavor, no moisture, just a pile of disappointing meat.

The rest of our $190 meal didn’t fare any better. The brisket grilled cheese was dry. The smoked prime rib dip? Also dry. Even the burger, ordered well done, came out so over-charred it tasted bitter and burnt.

To make matters worse, our server stood over my shoulder at the end of the meal, clearly waiting to see how much of a tip I was going to leave. That kind of pressure and awkwardness is unacceptable, especially after such a lackluster experience.

This was our first time trying Liberty Station, and unfortunately, it will be our last. There are far better BBQ and smokehouse options in town.

Absolutely love the vibe this restaurant gives! Beautifully decorated, plenty of seating and tables are not closely crowded together. Seated quickly, waitress was friendly, prompt to take our order and our glasses were always full. Our favorite item on the menu was the sweet potato fries! Also highly recommend the nacho appetizer. Enough food to be split with a few friends!

We've been here before and this time was a major disappointment. The other times had been much better. Sorry guys, tonight wasn't up to any reasonable standard. I'm referring to the $18.00 Texas Brisket 1/2 lb. very fatty portions. The prepared temperature was tepid on the entire meal. Wished I had a picture. But I don't. Mentioned this to them after getting home, and all I got was a defensive lip service via live chat. Hmm. Hopefully, this gets corrected. Eighty bucks for a dinner and drinks out for two!

Note: A head Liberty Station manager had finally responded to my many e-mails regarding this experience. A verbal word-of-mouth promise was made, and it was NEVER kept. I tried to take up his offer. Another meal visit to be complimentary. Such b.s., false and cheap talk. So disappointing. I suppose they could care less about a customer's loyalty?

It was average. The tavern burger was dry and light on pulled pork. The fries, cornbread, and Mac & cheese had an odd seasoning/ spice to it like paprika. Minimum suggested gratuity is 18% which seems a bit high for dropping off plates at the table and having self serve water.

Liberty Station is reliable for great service and relatively comfortable surroundings. The location is not exactly scenic, but the convenience of its geography is significant. This is a great meetup place with a huge bar and plenty of restaurant seating. For meat-lovers, the ribs are 4/5, the brisket is 4/5 and the pulled pork BBQ is 4/5. This is subjective, I know, but I've had my share. An ideal choice for reliable service and food at a decent price. You won't leave hungry and you'll have left-overs. Definitely, a good choice for a pre-event or post-event meet-up.

Who ever was taking pickup orders tonight tried to charge me 14 for a grilled cheese. I asked if they had just a grilled cheese sandwhich and she was like "yes". Then she read me my total, when I asked why is it so high she said she charged me for the brisket grilled cheese no brisket. If you have no grilled cheese sandwich just say so. Or just tell me before hand that you can only do brisket grilled cheese with no brisket and its still going to be the same price. Mind you she had already sent the order, so she explain that she needed a manager to fix the order. When I apologized for the inconvenience for changing my check she just said ok and hung up on me. Of course when I go to pick it up she tells me there no manager to be found, so I had to sit there waiting to pay for my bill. And then when I got home they forgot my tomato bisque. Talk about a headache.

I hosted my rehearsal dinner at Liberty Station and my fiance and I are both speechless. Everything was amazing!!! The communication with both Misha and Matt was outstanding from the start! They were very prompt when answering our questions and were always willing to help tweak things if we needed. We did a buffet of various barbecue, some sides and then dessert. The food was absolutely phenomenal, everyone that attended our dinner could not stop talking about the food and I was surprised to hear that a lot of my guests had no idea Liberty Station even existed, well they do now! Not only was the food wonderful, but the service and the drinks were top tier. I also want to say that they made us desserts that were not even on the menu and one of them was a brownie and it was probably the best brownie I have ever had. Thank you Liberty Station!!! Please consider hosting an event with them or even stopping in for lunch/dinner, you will not be disappointed! ☺️

The atmosphere and service were amazing! The ambiance, especially outside, was perfect (though we sat inside as it was a tad chilly), it looked cozy and welcoming. Our server was great, very attentive and polite, however didn't know the menu very well. The food was terrible! Absolutely terrible! We had a party of 8, but none of the dishes were complicated. One diner requested raw to medium rare steak came out well cooked to over cooked. Pretty sure they're trying to pull off a sirloin for a ribeye because, even though the amazing staff was apologetic, while the 2nd steak did come out medium rare, it was a very tough cut of meat. Very chewy and not enjoyable. The rainbow trout presentation was terrible. The fish was bland and overcooked but the green beans they come with were amazing however the mashed potatoes, not so much. Two diners had chicken wraps that were very dry. The fish and chips another 2 had said it was not good at all. We did order brussel sprouts and curds to begin with which were absolutely delicious... it all went downhill from there, foodwise. For a meal over $300 after tip I can tell you that at least half our table will never return. So sorry

My friends and I stopped in yesterday for some dinner. We were very impressed by the atmosphere/aesthetic of the restaurant. Our server was just perfect and amazing. She was very attentive, kind, and very professional in her role. We ordered two briskets, with cornbread, side salads, mash potato, a chicken meal, Brussels sprouts, and a burger. We were not that impressed with the meal. The briskets, chicken, and mash potato were unfortunately pretty dry. You could also just tell by the look of them once set in front of us. The briskets had flavor, but were just so dry. Placing tons of the delicious bbq sauce in them definitely helped a lot. Maybe things were dried because it was later in the evening and may have been sitting out? Not sure. But that goes the same with the mash potato’s. It looked super dark and old like it’s been sitting out. The salads, cornbread, Brussels sprouts were amazing. We met up with some more friends afterwards, told them where we just dined. They had some comments themselves as well. They all agreed from their previous experiences in the past, that they have encountered the same dry foods, but their service was great. This may be a precision error in terms of food, as it seemed like reviews online says their meals were great. May have to try again at some point, as the food had such great flavor. There’s so much potential here.

Wow... I must have came on the wrong day. The reviews on this place are a 4.3. I'm not sure how they got that.
It started great. I sat at the bar because it was just me. The bartender was very friendly. Gave me a menu. I asked what the top 2 things he would recommend. Ribs & brisket were the answer. I ordered the Sampler platter at $48 because I wanted to try as much as possible. We joked about having to take some home. Lol.
My 1st bite was of the sweet potato fries. They were a 12 outta 10. Absolutely amazing. I was so excited to try the rest. Unfortunately, it all goes downhill from here. I could barley cut the brisket with my knife. My 1st bite I had to spit out because I could not even chew it. So dry, so tough. Disappointment is setting in. Tried the "pulled pork" next.... had to use my knife again to "pull" it apart. No go. Ok... he said the ribs were great. So, I try them. I could actually eat them, but probably 5/10. The beans were good. The bartender never asked me about the food or anything, but the manager was behind the bar getting something and he asked me. I said, do you want me to be honest? Yes was his answer. I said, worst brisket EVER. He was shocked. He did bring me another pc and offered to take some money off my bill. The 2nd plate of brisket definitely was better but probably still only a 5/10. So... I ate what I could. Then I sat there with my plates pushed away from me with my wallet in my hand right in front of the bartender for over 10 minutes while he made drinks back & forth and never once asked about anything or if I was ready to check out. I had to stand up & push a plate in front of another chair in order to get attention. The place was not busy at all. Many, many servers, front door lady walked by me many times & I purposely looked directly at them and I got nothing. Once I finally got the bill, it was FULL PRICE. NO discount. I said something to the bartender about the manager saying a discount. He said he would have to get the manager. After 5 more minutes, the manager came out with a discounted bill. He asked and everything & I gave him my honest opinion. Not good. But..... But.... I did tell him I would give them another chance because I don't want to be that guy. Unfortunately, I only gave a 10% tip that I explained to the manager why and I told him that was to much technically. So... nice looking place. The people were nice. There was a big table of "cowboys" behind me at the big table that was from the horse show. I told the manager, I sure hope they don't order the brisket. I shook his hand, told him I will be back. He told me to specifically ask for him when/ if I come back & he will make sure I'm taking care off. Judge me for what you want, but I eat alot of food like this and I do know the difference in good food.

I sat at bar as there were only 4 people around bar. It took 4 mins for someone to greet me. The person who greeted me was sitting on same side of bar when I sat down. I ordered food and drink. Drink and food came out relatively quick. Brisket was delicious, Mac and cheese delicious, coleslaw delicious. I was not a fan of the salt and pepper BBQ sauce or the coffee BBQ sauce they offered for brisket. No big deal as brisket was delicious. The service continued to be subpar as both bartenders were sitting on same side of bar as me talking to two people who had alcoholic drinks instead of tending to customers. Then to top it off I left $5 tip on $24 bill and they decided to double their tip themselves to $10. It’s too bad these employees ruin a good food experience and because of that I will not go back.

Racist hostess. Came in with my family, half Asian half white, waiter told us “oh yeah we can’t accommodate you guys. About 30-45 or even more”, sneering at my aunt. It’s ridiculous. I hate to say it, but our food was not good. I thought it was just what I ordered, but my group was collectively underwhelmed. My dish was so salty I think I would have been sick if I finished it, and the BBQ we ordered was tough and chewy. It's not crazy expensive, but still much too pricey for what we got. It was a busy weekend in Madison, WI. We come here every March for Canoecopia and this is always a busy weekend in Madison.

We had a short wait for a table. There were eight of us. It was loud and a little difficult for this old man to hear any conversation. The waitress did a good job taking our orders and getting everyone what they ordered, despite the challenging situation.

The food was good. Well prepared and nicely presented. Not my favorite fare, but good nonetheless.

Parking was a real challenge. Each time I have been to Liberty Station it had been very busy and the parking lot was completely full. I had to park across the street at an office building. Luckily, it was late on a Friday or Saturday evening and the office building parking lot was pretty empty.

Liberty Station probably deserves 5 stars, but this is not my favorite type of restaurant. I would have much preferred a quieter, less crowded, setting.

Went here with the family on a Saturday for lunch. Brisket was definitely above average, the curds were 💯 and their fries were really good too. Our waiter Miles was very pleasant too. I’ll definitely be back again!

I met some friends for dinner. We were able to make a reservation which was nice. We got a nice big booth. Our server was very good and attentive. The food was ok - not great but not bad - if that makes sense. I will also say I don’t eat a lot of meat. It was a bit loud in there but it was nice to see people gather. I did like they had large communal tables.

The food at Liberty Station is usually amazing. I always recommend the brisket, chili, and any of the desserts. Tonight's meal was not up to the normal standards that I have become used to at Liberty Station, the Brisket was very dry (almost like it was yesterday's Brisket warmed up) , and it was a quite disappointing. When I brought it up to the waiter, he dismissed it. The rest of the table enjoyed their meals and everything else looked great. My side of brussel sprouts was amazing. Took some time to get the bill, no adjustments, and no additional follow up on my meal. I had a good laugh, and we left with a full to go box. Liberty Station is normally a fantastic place to have dinner with amazing staff, but tonight was a miss.

Great food. Brisket was a little dry, but I could have eaten a pound of the beans. Others at our table had the fish & chips, and the smoked chicken wrap. Both were excellent. If we're ever in town again, we would absolutely come back for a repeat visit.

An absolute disaster of a meal, overcooked, overstated and burnt. They should have been embarrassed ti even plate thus mess. The atmosphere is barren and loud and waaaay overpriced. Do yourself a favor and just go to Culvers

My husband had the steak, and it was perfectly cooked. I had the pork and bucatini and the broth I could drink with a straw! I had the cosmopolitan, and my husband had the old fashion. Both perfectly made! It is one of our favorite places to eat when we are in town!

WOW! The brisket is amazing. We ordered the pound, and split it between 2 people. Still had leftovers. It comes with 2 sides of your choice. Add a couple of beers from their wide selection, and we were happy. I'm definitely going back to try more options.

This place is good, but not memorable. I've been there twice, and the people that were in my party during my most recent visit on 12/30/2024 have been there around eight times. The food is just good, the cocktails are just good, the ambiance is just good. Good good good. Nothing to complain about, and nothing to draw me back there. If someone suggests going there, I'll respond "okay, they're good." Or I might respond "Good, they're okay." And if they in turn reply " Would you like to go someplace else?" I'll say "Sounds good, do you have any suggestions?"

Amazing food with equally amazing staff! We had a holiday party here, and all I can say is that I was blown away. The food was excellent and the staff was very quick to keep the food well stocked! The staff and owner was incredibly accommodating and helped us have a wonderful night!

Not from the area but decided to give this place a try and wow the brisket barbeque did not disappoint. It was so tender and tasty. My husband was very happy that I upgraded my half order to a whole and brought some home! The cornbread tasted good despite it's flat and dark appearance. Could have been a little larger. The fries' breading was good and they serve a large serving of them in a tin cup. Not crispy fries. I needed a little acidity to balance things out so I was happy when my daughter shared her pickle slices from her Liberty burger with me. It was just the thing to go with the brisket. I ordered chocolate mousse for dessert. Definitely chocolatey and delicious but it's a more solid mousse than I was expecting. Loved the blackberries with it.
Our server Jordan was the best waiter I've had in a while at many a restaurant. Not a long wait and when we needed something it was easy to get his attention.
The restaurant itself was very open with not much space between tables and therefore a bit on the noisy side. Not a place for quiet conversations.
Overall we enjoyed our lunch and would visit again.

We had picked up food two days in a row, and it was INCREDIBLE. Then we dined in Sunday night and the service/server was so rude, and we could tell he did not want us there. We had a reservation at 8:30pm we got there early and ordered, then our friends showed up at 8:45 and ordered drinks and our server told us the kitchen closed in 10 minutes and never came back to take their order. Our food was cold and under seasoned. Just really disappointed. Our server was not kind, and just seemed to want us to leave.

That’s unfortunately where it ends. I got a bbq sampler platter and the wife got brisket. My sampler comes with brisket, bbq pork shoulder and ribs. The pork is flavorless. No smoke flavor, no seasoning. The brisket is dry and overcooked. The fatty part and bbq sauce helped some. The ribs were mushy like they had been boiled. The “honey butter cornbread” was a muffin. It was cold. Butter had some sort of herb in it and it was very ok. The mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. Had about 5 bites. The wife enjoyed her sweet potato fries. I was originally going to give it three stars to not be too harsh. But unfortunately the wife and I have both been tore UP. Both of us having stomach pain and discomfort. Absurd amounts of gas. By the end of our date the smell of her leftover brisket made her gag and we threw it out. Unfortunately it was not a good experience and with tip for two people it was $140. We got six wings for an appetizer. It was $17. I ordered two tap beers and she got Diet Coke.

I don’t do a lot of these but we had a special night and we are from out of town and we researched places and were really intrigued and excited. If we lived closer and heard some things have changed we would give it another shot. But with so many other options I would pass on this one except for drinks and appetizers.

Ribs were excellent. Some of the best I've had in Madison. Maybe a bit oversauced. Would prefer it to come out w/o sauce. 5/5
