Downtown locale, street parking. Busy but efficient so wait wasn't long. Quirky diner/ café serving breakfast and lunch. Menu includes typical breakfast and lunch offerings as well as tempting specials. The brisket reuben sandwich on home made pumpernickle was a popular and delicious choice. We are locals that have been here a few times before. Today we went for breakfast and waited about 10 minutes for a waitress to come to our table and then another 40 minutes and no one had come back to our table to even refill coffee. My mom waived down someone that passed and asked if she could have her coffee refilled. The lady, who happened to be the owner, went back to grab our waitress. The waitress came out with the owner to explain that they were having an issue with the computers and tickets weren’t printing to the kitchen.

So my mom put her hand over her coffee to stop them from filling it while I asked if that meant our ticket had been printed late or not printed at all. We had my son with us and he was very hungry at this point. After already waiting this long if the food hadn’t been started yet, we were considering going somewhere else since the place was busy and it would likely be quite some time before we got our food.

At this the owner lost it. She was VERY offended by my mom stopping them from filling her coffee and had such a huge attitude as she told us to leave. We hadn’t been throwing a fit about it. It was just a matter of it we wanted to wait longer for my son to eat or leave and get food quickly somewhere else.

My mom told her that she was being rude and she said “yea well I own this place!” And stormed off into the kitchen while complaining about us.

It was so disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional. If you’re having an issue with your computers, that’s fine. It happens. But you should tell your customers before they’ve been waiting so long and then not treat them so horribly because they want to go somewhere else. I couldn’t believe she would act in such as way as the owner, especially in the middle of the dining room where everyone can see!

Anytime I am in the area, I have brunch at Little Fat Gretchen’s. This place has excellent food and a great bakery selection. (They even have gluten free options!) Staff is all very friendly. There is local art for sale hung around the restaurant. Such a great little spot. Definitely recommend.

My wife had the Crab Cake Benny. Very little crab taste. Seemed more like a patty of mild turkey dressing. The hollandaise sauce lacked any citrus. Just salty tang. I had the egg sandwich with jalapeño. It totally lacked any jalapeño taste. That's why I ordered it. The chicken corn chowder was the only thing I would order again. Everything else was disappointing.

Excellent. I had a wonderful grilled ham and swiss which was on the modern side (++) with marinated red onions and spinach on rye. They have generous portions without overdoing it. They were full when we arrived so a slight wait but great service. We prefer small cafes so it was fun just to watch a well-run operation. They were busy but everyone was obviously really engaged and moving things along. Of late we've noticed some small cafes struggling to keep up but not here. If they're busy they're on it and well... they're just very busy. Great Crew!

We've come in several times and always liked this place. Today was superb. Kelsey took our order and we thought about an omelet, but 3 egg omelets are a bit much for us. Food-outstanding. They really pay attention to details...toasted bun, seasoned burger, crispy fries.
service-amazing, friendly. When the chef called out "meatball up" I thought I missed a meatball spical, but he has nicknames for the staff.
Atmosphere-casual and playful but not loud. You can carry on a conversation at your table.

All I can say is wow. What a place, the atmosphere was breathtaking. The food was phenomenal. With a smaller menu if allows them to concentrate on a few key breakfast dishes. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and a pancake. My wife had eggs, potatoes and bacon. All fresh and all very good. We went on a Sunday at 7am. It was busy from the go. The food came fast and the waitress was attentive. Great place so happy.

If you're gluten free, definitely make a stop here. Not only is their staff knowledgeable about gluten but they are also careful/cautious. They also offer a variety of GF items, including pastries that are as good as gluten-filled pastries, ha. Highly recommend the sea salt-fudge bar (has a short crust), lemon bar, and peanut butter-chocolate brownie. The blueberry muffin wasn't as good — a little dry/crumbly and all the berries sank to the bottom. But everything else was phenomenal. The service is also kind and prompt. You can also help yourself to (shared) coloring books and markers/pencils/crayons for kids. Will come here every time we're in Waupaca.

We enjoyed lunch on a Saturday about an hour before they closed at 2. Danielle took great care of us. The food was excellent. Ever heard of Haddock chowder? How about an egg salad BLT? Wow! What a treat in Waupaca, WI! From the 50's formula tables and chairs, to original cool and fun artwork, it's a win as you walk through the front door. But wait, there's sooooo much more! Freshly brewed, fair trade coffee in non matching mugs, which I love! Tried the daily special of blueberry French toast name, made with homemade bread and great fruit, in a bowl like bread pudding, they brought a huge bottle of delicious syrup, OMG!!!! My husband has a wonderfully filled Greek omelette, I had eggs and bacon, again, with HOMEMADE rye bread... Can't tell you how delicious it was. Our waitress Danielle was a delight and on the spot with coffee, water, answering questions and just being a lovely person. Get here early! Opens at 7!

Don't be a slouch, preorder a pie. If you're in the area splashing on the chain-o-lakes or on lunch from the foundry. This should be your nice cozy spot. Non matching coffee mugs make for a homey feel. Way too many pies and baked treats to try in one sitting. All baked goods are scratch made. We went here for the first time today with my Dad and we had a party of six. We waited a bit for our waitress but to be expected when it was busy. She was very polite and very was on top of making sure our drinks were full and our food was good. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere reminded me of an old time diner. We finished our food and within five minutes of us finishing our food a different waitress walked up to us and told us that we had to leave because they had another party waiting. We were not even finished with our drinks and we were actually planning on getting desert. I have never been told that we had to leave a restaurant because they had people waiting. After I confronted the owner about it she was extremely rude and unprofessional. Our original waitress was so embarrassed and I felt bad for her to have to witness such rudeness from her employer. I will never be back to this restaurant again. I will definitely make sure that others are aware of how rude this business owner is. Thanks for nothing. Pretty sad when you spend over $100 and get treated like this. Pretty sad that she treats veterans like this.

I highly suggest taking time to view all the art work while enjoying wonderful food! This place has an eclectic atmosphere with Formica tables with steel padded chairs and roomy booths. The art work is amazing and there’s the story of how this restaurant came together.
Our waitress Jenni was so friendly and took time to give us time to view the menu while being set up with coffee. The service was fast & delicious. Jenni kept tabs on how we were doing and other staff were refilling coffee as needed. Jenni & staff are very nice. Jenni has the best smile! Thank you Jenni for making our visit special & enjoyable.
