The fish fry was fantastic, and was well worth the wait. Nothing was left on my plate and I left full, all for a very reasonable price. The staff were also very friendly and personable. Inside and outside, the place is very unassuming, but that is the charm of it. It knows its identity, and doesn't try to be something it's not. Great bar food, good people, and a relaxed atmosphere, it's the classic Wisconsin experience.

Amazing Wisconsin soul food such as stuffed seafood lasagna bites, whipped potato fries, soft pretzel bites with the nacho cheese, beef tips and creamy mashed potatoes, fried chicken, hearty salad (plenty of ranch, cheese, and veggies) and coffee plus the longest most friendliest bar you've ever seen. This is always a great place to grab a drink or some food. I've always enjoyed my food there. The prices are reasonable and depending on the dish the serving sizes are good. I have seen some variety in how much you get for food amounts; on a recent visit one person in our group got some smaller shrimp, but another person got a gigantic steak! Might Be worth paying attention to what's coming out of the kitchen while you are waiting to order with your Old Fashioned to make sure your order matches your appetite!

They have a good menu, a lot of choices, and something for everyone to eat. The staff is always friendly and the food is always good. I took my mom out to dinner and a show and let the staff know. They were very nice about getting our food to us quickly. Mom got the tenderloin and scallops, with cheesy hash browns. I got the king cut prime rib, baked potato, and sauteed onions.

The food is fantastic 😋 but you will have a wait so be prepared though it's worth the wait! Fridays have several options with fish and seafood, not your normal fish fry. The prime rib on Saturday is best I found in the area. You can't do reservations on Friday, as they don't do, but I recommend reservations on other days to help with wait. Appetizers are good food if you want to start at the bar. They have pizza but I have never tried. It's a little loud with big crowd. There is a little area with a couple games for kids. Bar has two pool tables and darts. There is separate dining room too. Staff is friendly and good service. Prices are great especially for how much food you get besides for delicious.

I don't even want to give it a review to let people know how good it is. It can get pretty busy as it is but if more people know about it I may never get a table. This place always has great service from the bartenders to the wait staff. They have a good size menu so anyone in your group can find something to eat. The food is so good too. We have never been disappointed in the food. My son's only complaint is they forgot his ice cream cup on one of our visits, we didn't realize it and forgot to ask. They take care of you there whether you go solo or with a large group.

My husband and I were visiting Wausau, WI and stopped in based on the reviews. We were not disappointed! Its a friendly little bar that is exactly what you want visiting Wisconsin. You walk in and order your food- you sit at the bar and chat while waiting for your food. They put your food at a table and send you over to eat. Everything was wonderful, fresh and fun. Appetizers were cheap but we had so much food that we didn't need to order them. The fried mushrooms and clams were perfect. We ordered the fried and baked cod combo and the 4 piece chicken. It was fantastic and came with 2 sides- we tried all of their potatoes- 2 types of potato salad, fries and the baked potato. We were not able to finish our food there was so much to eat. Staff works together as a team on Fridays and splits the tips- so they were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Everything was under $40 which is amazing... Highly recommend. If you want something healthier, absolutely get the baked cod and baked potato... if you're there for everything fried- they do not disappoint. Great Wisconsin immersion experience ;)

This has been a long time go to place for locals. Formerly known as Diane and Donna's Loading Zone, they knew how to run a bar and eatery. The new management is the same and have streamlined the operation. They have summer outdoor events and actually survived COVID demise. Never ever disappointing.

This place used to be good. The bar seems to be the most popular and the drinks are mediocre. The food was cold and bland. They have baked fish as an option on their menu but literally couldn't order baked fish. I ordered a caesar salad and got a wilty ranch salad. The fries were cold and lifeless. I had two bites of my food and was done. I understand they are busy on Friday nights but unfortunately this isn't the first time. I will not return here again.

I’ve been here several times. The food is so so. Sometimes the fish is okay sometimes it’s greasy. Service usually isn’t great. Weird set up for ordering food. This place is popular with the older Wausau crowd. There’s better places to eat. It’s not the worst place, and not the best either.

Came back last night, Saturday 2/17/24 to give it another try. There’s a sign in front of the dining room to “see bartender”. Who was already seeming overwhelmed tending the bar. Waited a few minutes to get her attention. She told us it will be 45 minutes or longer to get seated. Which is fine, but I didn’t feel up to fighting my way through a bar crowd for 45 minutes. The fish, fries and burger tasted like camp food. If I had a blind bite of the fish I would believe it was boxed fish sticks. The burger was SO charred and dry. The French fries looked great but tasted like the breading for onion rings with no onion inside, they didn’t taste like potato at all and when bit open you couldn’t see potato.
The staff was not at all rude, but we were worked through like cattle at auction.
HOWEVER, the cheesecake was absolutely awesome! We ordered multiple slices of the caramel apple and will probably stop by for cheesecake to go in the future.
There happened to be a hair in my coleslaw, didn’t really bother me I’m a farm girl. I picked it off and ate it. lol

One of the best shrimp and scallops Friday dinner($ 15.50. 4 large scallops and 3 large shrimp, choice of 2 sides and bread) I have ever had. Had a side of mushroom and pickles . Very good and reasonably priced. This pub was better than a supper club. The ordering first and wtg for your number to come up was a bit different but it went fast. Stopped early on a Friday night for fish fry. How it works is you get in line at the register. When it’s your turn you place your order and then you can go to the bar to get your drinks. When the staff calls your number, they bring you to your table and your food is there waiting. Fish fry was good. My son and wife got the steak sandwich. My son’s was a little tough and difficult to chew. Otherwise everything else was great and we will be back when in town again.

Something was off tonight. It seemed like they changed their fish recipe because the batter didn't seem the same as past visits we have had. Sides seemed smaller in portion. The side salad was a joke. Potato salad was one small scoop. Same fries but less. Like everywhere else, they too have raised their prices since the last time we have ate here. Overall, tonight's visit and meal was disappointing.

I've never had a bad meal at the Loading Zone & I've eaten there quite a few times. 😉 Some of my favorites entrees include steak, lobster, shrimp, scallops, clam strips & Olivinos. For sides, I love the twice baked, cheesy hashbrowns, coleslaw, & salad (lots of homemade dressings are available). The cheesecakes are wonderful. The soups are also top notch! Went with parents to Loading Zone. I myself do not think that this is the best fish fry around. There isn't much flavor to the coating and sometimes it's greasy. So, I tried the baked fish and it was a nice portion, but again no flavor. The special seasoning that they said is on there I did not taste. They don't give you a choice either of different seasonings. Very bland. I'll go there again but not for FISH!
