We have eaten at Luigi’s several times, mostly pizza. This night we ordered lasagna, which was swimming in sauce with noodles floating in it. My husband said it was the worst he had ever had. I had Spaghetti and Meatballs, which was good. Now for the wine: I ordered a glass of red wine. When it came to the table, I picked it up and it was warm. Thinking it had been put into a glass out of the dishwasher, I told the server. She took it away and said she would put it in the freezer. My hopes for an enjoyable glass of wine were diminishing. After ten minutes or so, she returned with the wine. It was still warm, definitely way above room temperature. At that point, I brought it to the server who offered again to put it in the freezer. She said the wine is stored near a machine that is very hot. At this point, I asked her to take it off the bill, which she did graciously. It was the worst dining experience we have had in a very long time, and probably not surprising, we will not be returning.

My family and I were so excited to try Luigi's but we're beyond disappointed. The service was subpar, had to ask for parmesan cheese, Napkins and refills on our drinks.
When talking with our hostess about what she would recommend her answer was "anything is good so just order". Like wow! You can't even make the time to talk with customers about what food would be worth trying for the 1st time!?!
Our food took close to 45 minutes to arrive at our table, which baffled me cause if I'm not mistaken you guys don't even have a pizza oven just a conveyor belt. We waited 45 minutes for pizza that was so dark and crispy that we didn't even bother to eat more then a slice or 2 of it. The worst part is we paid close to 40 bucks for this! Like we could have gotten way better pizza from places like Costco or Little Caesars. I would never recommend going to Luigi's pizza to anyone.

The pizza is pretty good. Sort of seemed more like a Jersey crust than a New York slice. Prices could be a little easier for what you're getting, but that's Madison's lack of competition for you. I'd say this place is above the average of what the Food Fight group offers anyway, which is generally pretty average itself.

The service here- that we got particularly- was great. The guy who helped us was super friendly and willing to make suggestions. The young woman who took my reservation and was also cleaning tables was very welcoming and seems to be a fantastic employee. The 3 bros sitting behind the counter the whole time were basically useless.

Place seems to be busy enough, as the wait time took quite a while. I'd probably rather order take out ahead of arriving and eat outside next time.

We were long time fans of Luigi’s having lived here now for a number of years. We love their white sauce based pizzas. But the other night, we did take out and introduced it to friends of ours and it was a big disappointment. The pizzas were way overcooked with crusts so hard, even the cheese pizza was hardly palatable. Maybe it was an off night because of the high volume of people but all 4 pizzas were almost burnt and took much longer than expected.

We were excited to try Luigi’s Pizza for the first time as we had heard good things about their pizzas, but were extremely disappointed! We took 2 pizzas and cheese sticks as a starter. Everything was extremely salty!! Also pizza crusts were too crispy/dark, so it was hard to eat it (photo attached). Pizzas looked too much overcooked and taste was lacking. After eating here, end of the day we felt very thirsty because of extremely salty food we got.

We will never come back and can’t recommend it to anyone. You will definitely find much better pizzas in Madison (for example I highly recommend Ian’s Pizza or Novanta - we have tried their restaurants also).

Im from New Jersey, and I miss New York style pizza so much. The thin crust pizza from Luigi's is the closest to a New York pie I've found in the Midwest! If you are from the northeast and miss delicious pizza or want to see what a New York pizza tastes like, I highly recommend!

I keep coming back to Luigi’s hoping the pizza would taste like it used to. When this restaurant was down on the Outerloop off the Square it rocked. The pizza oven they used heated the pizza up so quickly and had a special crust that was out of this world. I came to the location off Midvale a few times over the years and the lunchtime pizza seem like it tasted better than it did tonight. But that was probably 6 years ago. Now it seems the crust has changed, and the pizza is marginal at best. maybe the small pizzas I would get at lunchtime or made with a different crust? The highlight is definitely the sauce! Good use of garlic powder and spice made it scrumptious. We got a 16 inch cheese and sausage and unfortunately the sausage was a little bit over cooked as well as the bottom of the crust which changed the whole flavor profile of the pizza. The taste of the crust and crispy sausage left a aftertaste in your mouth that was unpleasant. The dough-knots AZ were a little inconsistent (two didn’t brown up like the other three and tasted like older dough) and didn’t taste as good as they have at other times I’ve been here. I will give Luigis another chance for lunch sometime, but won’t be bringing my little brother here for a larger pizza again. Hoping Luigi’s management will take this review constructively and try to make some changes. Quality Control is everything! I must say our server was nice enough and very attentive. I also liked it better when the staff dressed up more than T-shirts. But that’s almost not worth mentioning. It’s just that we spent $42 for a 16 inch pizza, two soda’s and the dough-knots appetizer.

I’m sad we’ve ordered here before but recently it’s gone down hill. We ordered for takeout on Valentine’s Day and on pickup they forgot our order, so we had to sit in the store for 45 minutes while they made it. Come to find out they forgot half the toppings on our pizza :( our pizza was cold, very thin, and had little to no sauce with half the toppings we ordered. Wanted to like it, but just a sad review all around.

These guys have the best pizza in Madison. The sauce, the cheese, the sausage, it's all outstanding. AND, if you want a gluten-free crust they have TWO to pick from. Their normal gluten-free is great, and shockingly, so is their cauliflower crust (which was probably intended for the keto folks, but my gluten eating husband loved it.

It was ok. Service was a bit slow, took around 40 minutes to get our food. My wife got lasagna, which she said was good. I got a meatball sub, which was room temperature. I asked the waitress if she could have the kitchen warm in up, since I assumed they made mine first and it was sitting on a counter waiting for my wife's food to finish. She informed me that they're served room temperature. I'm not sure if they just keep a bin of meatballs and marinara sitting out at room temperature, but it seems like an odd choice. The menu said it was "baked" so I assumed it would be hot.

I love the concept! But I hated my experience and will never return! I took my husband hear because it was part of the Food Fight Group. I was super excited! We try to visit different Food Fight restaurants from time to time. We ordered pinwheels as an app. My husband LOVED them! He ordered lasagna, I ordered the Maximus pizza. I tried some of his lasagna. It was not hot, and not very good. He ended up eating most the pizza. The pizza was awful! Looked terrible and was worse to eat. It was so salty. It made me wonder if the Food Fight group have a chef for the apps, and forget about the rest. I told my husband I will only go here again to pick up the pinwheels for him.
Service was average. Atmosphere was unpleasant. The bulbs by the booths hurt our eyes. Not sure what the Food Fight Group did wrong here,

First time customer. Called to order a BBQ chicken pizza for carry out on a Friday at 4:30 PM. Requested no pineapple on the pie. Trusted the order be correct so I did not lift the lid to inspect after paying / leaving. Mistake. Always lift the lid. Pineapple was on the entire pizza. A patient of mine recommended we go here as her family goes once a week. So on a weekday , my grandson birthday and being very close to my house we decided to go here. My son , grandson and myself arrived first . We go in and the lady says to another gentleman where would you like them to sit ? This gentleman says I dont care sit them anywhere, I tell her it'll be 6 of us , mind you we walk in with gift bags and balloons , the lady sits us at a table , there is only one other couple in a booth and a employee pushing tables together . The employee comes over to our table and says I'm gonna need you to move we have a party of 7 coming in and we need these tables . I said she sat us here , he was up to the hostess and tell her so the guy who says he don't care where we sit comes over to us and tells us we have to get up cause they need our table. I ask him where should we sit he says find a seat anywhere, I said the booth isn't big enough for us, so he says go outside. I tell him I find it very rude that he kicks us out from our table. So we go outside and sit it's a couple at tge table next to us talking to us .. my daughter and her 2 children show up and I say they haven't brung water , menues or anything to us , so my daughter goes inside to ask and they tell her we will bring you menues later just sit down cause it'll be awhile . My daughter tells us what was said and the couple next to us hand us their menus . I tell them no we will just leave they was very apologetic on behalf of the restaurant. Luigi’s is the best pizza in Madison I’ve had so far. I’ve only ordered delivery from them, never ate at the restaurant because I hate crowds. They always get my order correct and the pizza is cooked perfectly. Golden brown cheese and a chewy delicious crust. I actually like this place better than what used to be used to be my go to high quality pizza place because the consistency, quality, and price and are better. Also, here’s small but important detail about how they handle quality that I love. I ordered a fugeataboutit that has arugula on it, and they put those greens in a side cup so I could add them myself instead of having them wilt on the pizza itself.

This place has taken a turn for the worse whether it be dine in or to go. When my brother and I dine in, we have been ignored for the last few visits.

The servers are quite inattentive. I noticed that they are more concerned with playing on their phones. We had to get up and ask for everything. And even when we did that, the server would still make us wait for what we needed. He was on his phone in a booth chatting with another employee.

Or if it was busy, he intentionally walked the long way around to avoid our table. When my brother tried to get the server's attention, the server would walk by super fast pretending he didn't hear us. This happened several times on each visit. We have been here at least 4 times since mid-June.

What's really upsetting is that after this last visit, my brother got severe food poisoning. I git a mild case myself. My brother was sick for a week and couldn't eat. He lost 20 pounds from being ill.

We have tried to address this with management, but they only responded on Google maps to my brother saying to email them. When he emailed them, management never responded back.

I went in-person today hoping to speak with management regarding our experiences. I was informed I needed to buy something, so I did.

I placed a to go order and even tipped. The server sat in a booth facing away from the kitchen looking at her phone. I saw my pizza be made and placed on the pick-up window by the front desk. But the girl never noticed. She was giggling and on her phone. And messing around with another server.

I had to get up and ask for the pizza, which I never wanted to buy in the first place. I was given no management contact information, just a brochure.

My pizza is inedible. It isn't fully cooked on the bottom and super greasy. Not to mention, it's not even sliced.

What the heck happened to this place? It was amazing before covid. I came all the time.

Now they treat customers like dirt and don't care if you get sick from their improperly cooked food.

I really want my money back. This is such a shame. Why did I receive undercooked pizza? I've been loyal for years. Customer since 2016.

I hate leaving bad reviews for local businesses, but this needs to be said. My brother could have died from his illness. He couldn't eat for a week.

We tried it for the first time, and it's my new favorite pizza place in Madison. Staff was very friendly. More importantly, the pizza was great. We got the Athens (pesto), Hawaii, and Racket (sausage and mushroom). Athens and Hawaii were great, but the Racket was phenomenal -- best pizza in Madison. EDIT June 2024: We frequent this place and the service has gone down hill recently, and our server last night was particularly terrible and had an attitude. Pretended we didn't exist as soon as she took our order with no acknowledgement of how backed up the kitchen staff was. Probably was having a bad day but acted like we were a nuisance.

I love this place. The Dough Knots are delicious, as is the pizza. The service is always great, and the atmosphere tows the line between being extremely nice/upscale, and an old fashioned pizza parlor perfectly.

We were recently there and the manager (owner?) stopped by to ask how our food was. We let him know that we were very happy, and asked him for some recommendations for our next visit. He gave us an honest assessment of some of the food items rather than telling us how great everything on the menu was, which I appreciated. He left our table and came back with a $5 off coupon for our next visit saying it was because, "he appreciated the friendly conversation."

We will be visiting more often moving forward.

This was a very disappointing experience. We ordered a salad that came with pasta and prosciutto for $10 - we got 4 pieces of pasta and a piece of prosciutto. The salad itself was also quite small.

The pizza was also disappointing. It was pretty much flavorless and so greasy that the crust became a floppy piece of cardboard by the time we drove it home (5 minutes). There was very little chicken on the pizza and what was there tasted freezer burned.

After reading recent reviews highly critical of service here, we didn't expect much. What we found was the best service we've received since the pandemic. It was also probably the most attentive and professional service we've ever had from members of GenZ (We're GenX). Only a few turns were missing for perfect service. Post pandemic dining experiences over the last few years seemed to prove flawless service had gone extinct, but now I hold out hope that I will experience it again one day. Luigi's is on the right track. Excellent soup, bruschetta, pizza, tiramisu, kids menu, beer and wine options. The atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly. And the service will make you remember why we used to tip 20%+. Way to go management and staff!

We have gotten carry out pizza here three times in the last few months. First time we thought it was decent, second time was terrible…so salty we thought they accidentally put bacon on it. Decided to try one more time and it was a gross greasy salty mess! There was so much grease that the crust was actually adhered to the cardboard box in places. Threw most of it out. I feel cheated and lied to. The outside of this restaurant exudes an air of elevation over a place like Fazoli's or Olive Garden that really cares about it's heritage by using quality ingredients and recipes. The prices are very much reminiscent of that same exterior while providing something somehow worse than both of the aforementioned establishments.

The garlic knots (Dough Knots) on the menu tasted like they were taken out of the freezer and straight into the oven. The sandwiches were served on bread that can only be described as baked 1000 miles away. I had the special sandwich that was called the Italian Stallion I believe. It was supposed to have giardiniera on it, but was instead topped with broccoli florets and thinly sliced carrots which I assume was to replace it. I would imagine you could go to Olive Garden and get a meal for less money and be more satisfied.

This Monday at around 5pm, I picked up carry out pizza for a friend. I ordered online and followed the instructions to pull into a numbered stall and text a given number for someone to run the food out to my car. After 10 minutes I started to wonder what was going on. 15 minutes in, I went inside. I told the person at the counter that I had texted the number, as instructed, 15 minutes ago (after I received confirmation that my food was ready). She nonchalantly said "oh, that number doesn't always work." She did not apologize. It was not busy and there were 3 staff members behind the counter. She asked a co-worker to put something in my order and the co-worker did not hear her because she was looking at her cellphone, totally engrossed. She also had in one headphone. "Earth to [name]" said the first worker. The one with the phone finally noticed she was being talked to and said "I had to text him back." I finally got my at this point lukewarm pizza and left, resenting the tip I had left upon ordering online. I can't speak to the food quality because I didn't eat any of the pizza, but the service was yikes and leaves me uninterested in going back to try the food.

I was truly disappointed this time. Have been to Luigi’s multiple times and each time the food and service get worse. The service was excruciating challenging. We had to ask for everything. It was really odd that I had to go the counter at least 3 times to get salt, parm cheese, napkins, extra sauce for pizza rolls, and soda refills. So I love the fig and prosciutto pizza from Luigi’s but it’s just not convenient for me to drive and personally pick up my pizza so I order delivery. The last two times I ordered this pizza they forgot to ensure that my delivery driver had the arugala that tops the pizza and comes in a side cup. I called when this happened, both times, and both times the manager at the time who was a woman was super friendly and helpful and I wasn’t even upset anymore after talking with her. The last time I ordered pizza I ordered something else because I wanted to avoid the same issue. The pizza was okay but not as good as the fig and prosciutto so this time I ordered fig and prosciutto and called to ensure that they would give the arugula to the driver. The male manager that I spoke to seemed annoyed and started getting defensive and giving excuses and reasons that would never happen but all I wanted was a nice assurance that my arugula would come with the pizza this time. He was so rude and short with me. I really wish he had been as friendly and helpful as the woman I spoke to there was no need for him to behave like that.

The restaurant (atmosphere) and staff were great! The food we got (group of 8) was extremely subpar for the cost.
Dough knots looked amazing but were so dense they were hard to chew. Pizza crust was bland and too soft. All in all, it reminded me of kwik trip take and go heat lamp pizza.

The issue was resolved by the manager. He was prompt and polite. I had my CC fully refunded.

They say first impressions means everything. I ordered their meatball sandwich to go. I asked them if they could put the sauce on the side. When I got home, no sauce. And the sandwich, meh. The meatballs had no flavor. There was was no fresh Parmesan cheese either.

Never even got a chance to try the food, all I had ordered was a simple kids sausage and pepperoni, light sauce, extra crispy pizza. It took your staff 3 trys to actually make my order correctly because you have staff who can't read or even speak English. Like how hard is it to make a kids pizza? It got to the point were I just asked for my money back because it wasn't even worth the wait anymore. I will never recommend this place because you have such horrible BoH kitchen staff.

Carry out; vegan mozzarella was gluey and the GF crust was slightly over cooked, making it tough, chewy. My omnivore guys had the Hawaiian and said it was good, so the 3 stars is an average of the two. They didn’t like the sauce on the dessert bread twists tho. Ended up throwing those away along with the GF.

Luigi’s is one of the best places to get pizza in Madison. The double dough pizza in particular is really good, we also love the dough knots. Very minimal beer list I’d love to see that expanded. Service is a bit hit or miss. It’s never terrible but rarely fantastic however we had great service there today.

The pizza is SO GOOD! I was really impressed, and now I'm upset that I gave all the leftovers to my girlfriend. If you're looking for a less sweet non-alcoholic drink, definitely go for their Italian sodas. Don't be fooled: somehow it always looks from the outside like they are not open. Definitely disappointed, I ordered a 12” cauliflower pizza. Everything was hot and fresh BUT I noticed the pizza was a bit small (10” to be exact, I measured), I proceeded to take a bite only to realize the cauliflower crust is the frozen cauliflower pizza dough from Caulipower. So, not only did I get a 10” instead of a 12” pizza that I paid for, I also got frozen pizza dough. I could have made two pizzas at that price (Probably three), needless to say I was not impressed.

We ate there tonight. The food was tasty, hot and presented nicely! The prices were reasonable as well. They are doing a great job! We will go back! They had a help wanted sign in the window. Our waitress was rocking it tonight. She was taking orders, serving orders, making drinks, serving bread and taking care of tickets and to go boxes. Be kind if you go in. It may take her a few minutes to get to you but I promise she is doing the job and working hard!
