Came in at 1244 took 15 min for a server to take our order then were abandoned. Went to the bar to get another drink as we could not get the servers attention even when she was feet away from us. The bartender refused to make us another drink until the waitress put in the order so we had to wait for her to come back again. Then the waitress was confused and didn’t put in the drink order as we thought and we again waited another 10 mins. Meanwhile the food we ordered right away was now about 30 min wait on a lunch hour. There are currently 13 tables between 3 waitresses. 6 have food. I mean what? It is now 130 no food and still waiting on that second drink. I guess I expect too much, a waitress that comes to the table more than once. A bartender who has no customers to want to make a drink and maybe tell the waitress to ring it in. Foods great just as I remember it but service is a real turn off.

My boyfriend and I came here on Labor Day to enjoy dinner just us two. Our server, Joel, was very kind and knowledgeable of the menu (he said he’s been here 11 years!), and recommended some lovely choices. I had the Faux Bahn Mi, a steak sandwich with a delightfully crunchy Asian slaw, and my boyfriend had a burger that he said was cooked to perfection and tasted great. I had an Aperol Spritz cocktail that was great as well. The inside is a little dated, but I also appreciate learning about the history of the establishment from Joel, so I think some points were gained back in that regard. We will be back!

Went here to try food out after years and years of not eating from there to find out it has completely changed and the menu and the food were not what it used to be not only that the food was over seasoned not only was it overseas but we feel like we were overcharged for two burgers with chips and paided over $50 when we were told it was supposed to be 38 did not want to waste our time since it wasn't worth it back when I used to work here as my first job it was 100 times better I have no clue what has happened since then but I wouldn't think twice about coming here not worth it and definitely not worth the price you're better off going to a Culver's

Sad to say, the food was terrible.

My husband ordered the impossible burger, which was mediocre, and he got it with a side of chips which were just fried potato slices without any salt. I ordered the florentine flatbread. It came with no red sauce and the supposed "garlicky" spinach was not garlicky whatsoever, just soggy cooked spinach. Our friend ordered the pear & gorgonzola flatbread. Similarly to my flatbread, it had no sauce and the only flavor it had came from the tiny bits of gorgonzola. The flatbreads were inedible.

3/3 for flavorless dishes. 0/5 stars for food. We were all very disappointed and underwhelmed. Frankly, I have no idea why this place has such good ratings when they don't season their food... Seasoning food is a science that can be (and should be) learned.

We will not be returning here, and we would not recommend it. Cafe India is right down the road, and they consistently deliver delicious food at the same price - go there instead!

We were seated and waited on in a timely fashion. Our food was delicious. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was not. Our wait staff never came back to see how our dinner was . We were charged for a chip dip we never ordered, which we paid for, as it was easier than getting his attention for a correction. I ordered another glass of wine, but by the time it came to me, I declined it.
My friend ordered unsweetened tea and asked for a refill but was served sweetened tea, but that took 20 minutes to get that one.

The atmosphere clean, not too crowded, comfortable seating with the beautiful sound of nature by our seating area. The initial greeting was gracious, warm and receptive. Our wait person did not introduce herself, but was perfunctory. The delicious coffee was hot as expected, and the yogurt parfait w/granola was delicious, too. But my platter was not edible! The breakfast potatoes were cold, dry, and too salty. My egg dish without the chives was overcooked and overly salted, as well. This was my first visit to Lulu Café. It is absolutely charming and our server was so attentive, despite the lunch rush.
You must try the famous Lulu chips with the blue cheese dip. They are perfectly fried and salted. I had the Florentine melt. It was delicious. I would definitely order that again.

For many years, LuLu Cafe has been a preferred dining (and pick-up) spot for me.

Their consistently excellent food, especially their burgers, makes it a standout choice in Bay View. The diverse menu caters to a range of tastes, and my experience with other items on the menu has always been satisfying.

Flatbread items are always a delight, and pita sandwiches will not disappoint.

The service is always exceptional, with no negative experiences or encounters so far.

While the indoor atmosphere receives a three-star rating due to personal preferences regarding lighting and seating. The availability of outdoor seating in the summer, even if it means sidewalk seating, is a welcome option.

Chose a Half Pound Heart Attack, Asian Slaw, and freshly cooked chips (crisps 🇬🇧) with blue cheese dip. Holy moly!!! Nobody thought I'd finish the burger, but I absolutely demolished it. Best burger I've ever had. I've not stopped thinking about it ever since.
Had a Virgin Mary to drink & loved eating the 6 inch slice of pickle that garnished it.
I would love to return, but just visiting from England. Not a meal that I will ever be able to forget.

Lulu is probably the best cafe-type restaurant in milwaukee, with a very good bar. Their food and service is spectacular. One of my favorite blood marys in milwaukee, and also with whatever entree you order you will need a constant supply of their homemade chips and blue cheese dip, its ridiculous how good it is. Their asian slaw is also amazing. Im also never able to finish their burgers theyre so substantial, i like to mexi cali most, even tho im a 6 ft tall 220 guy with an appetite lol. Overall lulu is very high on my list for casual food and drinks in milwaukee.

I found everything about this place to be just okay. Ordered the spread trio with olive and 2 cheeses, and they gave massive spread servings, any they were good, bread assortment was lacking, just some pita slices, stale rye and stale crostini’s. Husband ordered a classic burger and I got the impossible burger. Again, just okay. I asked for mustard for the burger and they gave us super old dried up packets of mustard. The chips were good, lacking a bit in flavor. The slaw was good, but nothing special. Maybe we just ordered wrong. Service was not great.

How did I not know about this place?! Highly recommend LuLu for lunch or brunch. Big portions for a fair price. Though it's not on the menu, I recommend getting the garden infused bloody mary (comes with a chaser)! The Florentine Melt was delicious. If you get the chips, make sure you get the blue cheese dip. Phenomenal experience at Lulu in Bayview. Came to get some food for a spontaneous date night with my fiancé, and could not be more pleased.
Our server was Marina who was very kind, helpful and informative.
Prices are not horrible, food is great, I got the Faux Banh Mi, which was kinda like a steak sandwich served with house made potato chips and a side of blue cheese dressing and wasabi.
My fiancé got the East Indian chicken pita which she enjoyed thoroughly.
Excellent selection of drinks, from wine, to beer to cocktails, prices are not bad and drinks are exceptional.
We finished with desert and called it a night. Highly highly recommend.

Café Lulu is such a great spot in Bayview! My recent visit was nothing short of fantastic, from the food to the service.

We started with the housemade chips with bleu cheese dip--crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the dip was creamy and tangy in all the right ways. For mains, we had the blackened shrimp Caesar salad, which was fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice on the shrimp. The bahn mi sandwich with slaw was a standout: tender flank steak, bold flavors, and the slaw added a great crunch. To top it all off, we shared a piece of apple pie that was warm, perfectly spiced, and felt like a hug on a plate. Wish I would have taken more pics of the food as all of it was presented beautifully!

A huge shoutout to Caleb, our bartender, for his friendly and attentive service.

The cozy festive vibe, delicious food, and stellar service make Café Lulu a must-visit. Can't wait to come back!

I came in with a friend and was seated.
Took about ten minutes before anyone came by to ask for drinks.
Another fifteen goes by, I put my order in for food. Still no drinks, and by this time my water is empty. No refill, not even a mention of "can I get you more water." Another five passes, and I finally get a refill on my water and the fountain drink I ordered.
Took at least 45 mins for a very mediocre overcooked burger and extremely greasy potato chips.
I had heard exceptional things about this restaurant, and wanted to like it.
What a shame.
However, if you want overpriced food, and terrible service, this is the place for you!

My partner and I have now eaten at Lulu Cafe a couple of times, once at night and recently for lunch. The picture windows were open and it was a cool day, so we chose to dine in the dining room near the small stage.
We ordered the "Classic Burger" and a Pear and Gorgonzola Pizza. The burger came with "Lulu potato chips" and Asian slaw that was crunchy and full of vinegar (which we like). The burger itself was grilled perfectly, medium-well, and it was juicy and fresh.
Pear and Gorgonzola may not be a common pairing (ouch, bad pun), but they were a tasty combo on this flatbread. Sweet pear and sharp cheese can make a zesty topping, and the bread was crisp, too, an added bonus.
Our waitperson was attentive and friendly. The dining room was large and there were a number of other patrons enjoying lunch on a Friday afternoon.
Some kind of music was playing, and only the bass line was audible. The atmosphere was bland and probably much different at night when a performance is offered.
Lulu is really a friendly, local spot that provides quality meals at a reasonable cost.

I’ve been coming here for almost a decade and I’ve not once had a bad experience. The food is always delicious, the atmosphere is always cute and comfortable, and the service is always fast without feeling rushed. Today my server, Maryna, was fantastic; she was kind, accommodating, extremely appreciative of me being a decent human (be nicer to service industry folks, people!), and had a smile on her face despite it being a rainy, slow Tuesday. I almost always order the same thing, a hummus pita with tomatoes and cucumbers, a Diet Coke, the chips with dip, and a lot of the time an order of chips with dip to go, and I’ve never been disappointed! Even though I live in Chicago now, whenever I’m back in Milwaukee I always try to make a point to stop in for a lunch :).

I love Lulu! As a newcomer to the city, it has quickly grown to become one of my favorite third spaces. The food is always excellent. The space is clean, spacious, and inviting.
I came in for lunch today, after my employer allotted me a personal day as I have been dealing with extenuating circumstances in my personal life. So my spirits were a little low, but Lulu’s helped lift them up. The staff was excellent. They were calm, cool, and provided an energy I really needed today. My server was Marina; a great gal, she was a genuine light. Her support staff was as well, although I am not sure of their names - but they deserve credit as well (my visit was at noon on 9/18/24) - so management can know who was scheduled at that time and give them the accolades they deserve.
I cannot thank them and this establishment enough for creating a safe space for me to decompress in and nourish my body.

Very disappointed by my last visit. My "Smoke House" Burger was not seasoned at all and was served nearly raw. The bacon was flavorless and dry as bone. I had the "Asian" slaw as a side, but it was swimming in blood from the raw burger. It was disgusting to look at and tasted worse. I don't know how a chef would have ever let that out of the kitchen. The server was quite nice, but slow. She replaced the burger, but it wasn't served until everyone else in my party had already finished their food. I've been to Lulu several times but this is the worst experience I've had. I also want to mention that it's crazy loud in Lulu, they should consider hanging some baffles to deaden the noise a little.

This review is for several months ago. I went here with some friends around brunch time with some friends. I don't recall exactly what I ordered, but it involved scrambled eggs. Those scrambled eggs were terrible. They were dry and lukewarm, like they were sitting under on the hot plate for 20 minutes and made without any care whatsoever. Lulu Cafe is one of my favorite spots in Milwaukee. I went frequently until I moved out of state and I always make sure to stop in when I’m visiting.

The menu options are creative - not just your average grilled chicken sandwich or BLT. The falafel pita is one of my favorites but I like to try different options too. I always get the half and half side because I can never choose between the Asian slaw or the chips. The service is always good too and the atmosphere is awesome.

In short - food is great, vibes are impeccable, and I would consider selling my soul for the Asian slaw recipe.

I’m changing my five star review for Lulu’s because consistency is key in the restaurant business. Some of Lulu’s sandwiches are great, and some of them are tasteless. The felafel pita and the Mediterranean steak pita are filled with multiple layers of deliciousness, while the East Indian Chicken pita and roasted vegetable pita have little flavor. It’s hit or miss. The same goes for the service at Lulu’s. Some of the wait staff are with it, tending to your needs, while others are spacey, not quite comprehending, off in their own world of “what shape is the earth? It must be flat, or we’d fall off.” I like Lulu’s, but I’m better off ordering the same thing every time and asking for a server’s ACT scores before sitting down.

My friend and I were doing some drinking at the Voyager, and suddenly he started talking about food. It was a Monday night, around 8:40, and there weren’t a lot of places open. He isn’t the type of person to express his needs overtly, and I wasn’t hungry. “Do you need to eat?”
“Aren’t you hungry?”
“No, I ate lunch.”
“You don’t need to eat?”
“No, but if you need to eat, we better hustle.”
“Well, I haven’t eaten anything since lunch, and”…….
“Bartender, the check please.”
We ran across two streets and bolted into Lulu’s 10 minutes before closing. They agreed to feed us although no one else was in the place. After grabbing two seats at the bar, we had a nice drink and a beer. Our two delicious pita sandwiches arrived with excellent chips. The sandwiches were large and gratifying. I really liked Lulus, and will be sure to return. Next time will have more forethought.

The food was delicious! My friend had the smokehouse burger, the daughter had the Italian melt, and I had the Faux Bahn Mi sandwich. It had a nice little kick to it. I chose to have a little Asian slaw and homemade chips with the Bleu cheese dip. I'm just sorry I forgot to take pics. With three sodas, the total came to exactly $60.

This place has become my new favorite lunch/dinner spots, my partner recommended it as a date idea and we’ve come back several times since! I highly recommend any of the pitas with half chips and half slaw, there’s a variety of dips to choose from too. I get it every time and always finish everything on my plate,,, literally the perfect meal. Last time we went on Wednesday they had a half off all bottles of wine which was awesome , and you can take it home with you if you don’t finish. service has always been great too!! Never feels too rushed or too slow. Atmosphere is especially good at night, very warm and cozy.

We were seated in the window seat for a date night . My date has been a regular for years when it was just one side. The menu has lots of options for those who might be vegan, carnivore, or vegetarian. They also have a patio area . The beautiful restaurant is located in night life area of Bayview on KK. The only real issue with the atmosphere is that there are no soft surfaces to absorb sound. We went to an early dinner - arrived between 4:30 and 5:00 and it was very pleasant. Hardly anyone there yet. But as it filled up it got louder and louder with all the conversations bouncing off hard surfaces. It is definitely a nice place and feels cozy, it's just a volume thing.

Our server was great. Very friendly with a just the right amount of bubble to her that she was doll to have, but not over the top to be obnoxious. She was helpful when we had questions, checked on us just the right amount of time, and didn't hover so we could eat and talk comfortably.

The food is outstanding. I had this week's special - Pepperjack Pub Melt, and Mom had the Mediterranean Steak Pita. We both opted for the little bit of each on the choice of House-made Potato Chips and Asian Slaw. Portions are definitely NOT an issue. There is so much food I was almost full just LOOKING at the plate. And let me say it is ALL super delicious. I wasn't really sure about "just having a burger," but the special was intriguing. Served on toasted bread, with pepperjack cheese, and had slices of fresh avocado, with a side of pepperjack mayo that was just the right amount of kick. Of course you can increase and decrease the kick by how much you put on the sandwich. Perfect. The chips with the bleu cheese dip, and the Asian slaw are equally tasty. Very nice flavor combinations. Could only eat half and have the rest in the fridge at work for lunch today. So excited.

Check them out if you haven't. Just know they have TWO doors. The one to the north is unlocked for the dining room.

I’ve been a regular customer of Cafe Lulu for the past 8 years. I’ve always loved the pitas, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, etc., but the food I’ve most loved are the house made chips and blue cheese dip. On my most recent visit, I brought a foodie friend who I knew would love them as much as I did, but to our disappointment, the chips we were served were dripping in grease and about half the usual amount. I maybe ate 4 chips. When I showed the server the greasy chips, I was told that is due to the potatoes they’re currently getting. Hmmmm. I was disappointed in the that answer and my food. I won’t be back.

This was not my first visit to Lulu Cafe and bar nor will it be my last. I always enjoy the menu and the atmosphere at this place- very trendy. Our server, Lucia, was very friendly and well spoken. The food was delicious. I was actually Amazed by how good the coleslaw was!

It’s been a awhile since I’ve been here so I went and I had a good experience at Lulu’s. Stopped by on New Year’s Day with family. I ordered a regular Cheese Burger with the homemade potato chips & Asian Slaw combo. The potato chips weren delish but needs to be fried for another 2mins., some of the chips were slightly soggy, the Asian slaw was was good but I missed the bits of dried ramen noodles.

Great spot! They have a wide range of options from flatbread pizzas to burgers to pita sandwiches to some fish options and salads. Usually menus like that worry me because it’s hard to do so many different things well in one place, but LuLu has them all down. I’ve come in on my own to sit at the bar or with friends and both experiences are nice. My friend ordered us the jargaritas last time and they were fun. Don’t sleep on this spot!

I just happened to fly into Milwaukee airport and asked a lady to take my picture with the sign. She is a local and recommended this place to me. Boy, am I glad she did because the food was delicious.
I was happy to see so gluten-free options here, too.
I ended up getting the salmon steak that was very thick and juicy on an eddy bun.
The Coleslaw was more like Coleslaw on steroids. It was more like a oriental with lots of half peanuts.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Don't take my word, go see for yourself, and tell them I sent you.

We've been eating here for over a decade and enjoyed thier menu. We have never had a problem with the waitstaff, but as of recently the restaurant is charging a 3% service charge despite paying with cash. This is dishonest. It's a fee that you can ask to have removed but not many people know this. It would make more sense if we'd paid with credit card but with cash payments?...
