We brought six family members from California there for breakfast yesterday. Loved the farm/Wisconsin vibe. Also happy they had a round table for eight, which makes it easier to talk. My three stars is for the very disappointing Bloody Marys. I thought it tasted like watered down shrimp sauce. The food was good and they especially liked the cinnamon rolls.

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise! When we drove by it, we thought it was closed. Our hotel person told us it was open and very good, so we gave it a try. (The door is actually in the back.) I will say that their chicken fried chicken is the best I’ve ever had! The chicken was moist and the crust was delicious! Stephanie, our waitress, took very good care of us. All the sides were yummy and plentiful.

Visit date. 09/22/2025. My family and I were seated at the table. Afterwards our waitress arrives at our table without properly greeting us. The look on her face was very displeasing as so was the food she served. She then brought us our appetizers and sat them on one side of the table. We walked in the door and we were immediately greeted with a smile seated right away, ordered drinks, and they were there within seconds ordered our meals. I got the four piece fried chicken dinner and my wife got patty Melt both were very very delicious. The portions were huge had to take home some food Our server. Lacey was incredible. She made several trips by the table to refill our drinks and check on our food. I walked over here to try something new as I was sick of fast food working on the road. I was greeted and seated right when I walked in and had some water and a drink order in quickly. I ordered some brisket potato skins while evaluating the rest of the menu and those things were amazing! I was stuck between two items and my waitress helped me pick and it was a phenomenal choice and huge! Also one of the BEST loaded baked potatoes I've had in a long time, actually made with care and not just tossed together. Definitely bring your appetite as there is no shortage of food here. Also their "applesauce" reminds me of Apple pie filling 🤤. My waitress, Cheyenne was awesome! The Appleton area is sleeping on this place! I cannot believe it wasn't packed!! I will definitely be back again!

Update 9/9/2025 I went back again to try something different. I started with the potato skins because those were fantastic and they did not disappoint this time either! Then I went with the shed burger and some fries. The burger was cooked perfectly to the medium I requested, the brisket topping the already sizable burger added a level of texture and flavor that just elevated the meal to the next level. I really enjoyed the crispy fries but I'll be honest I was pretty much stuffed by the time I hit those 😂. Again fantastic service will continue to visit here during my work visits!

The official website, specifically for the Appleton location, said the 'All You Care to Eat Fried Chicken' special started at 11am. The waiter (who was good) said it started at 3pm... That was the only reason I came. Feeling obligated to purchase something, I got the fried chicken dinner, and I'm sad to say it was not the best. My friend got a chicken chipotle avocado sandwich, and he says it was good, but not $15 good. Finally I want to make clear the waiter was at zero fault and was very kind.

Joshua was nice and friendly, but he's a terrible server. Every time he brought something to my table he kind of dropped it down like he was in a hurry and didn't want to even bring it. The only time he came to my table was to take my order. Bring food and beverage and dropped the check.He never asked if I needed anything.He never checked on me after I received my food.

I was seated in a booth, and I was dining by myself. I ordered prime rib and I also wanted a cup of the french onion soup.

I thought It was taking a Little long to get the soup until I realized he was bringing my prime rib and the soup at the same time. He set the prime rib in front of me. And he set the soup across the a table as if somebody were sitting on the the other side of me.

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get your soup before you get your entree.

My husband and I were greeted upon our arrival and seated quickly. Hostess brought waters. Waitress arrived about 5 minutes later, took our drink and food orders. This was our first experience at this restaurant.
We sat at our booth right away. The table was really wiggly, really surprised it didn't fall over.
I then visited the restroom...it was fairly clean. But I was not impressed when I went to wash my hands and the sinks were not hooked up to any running hot water just cold.

It came time to order... My husband and I shared a bowl of their baked potato soup. The taste was just ok. But it was really thick and had that powder taste to it.

It was Saturday night and we ordered their Prime Rib. I chose the sweet potato as my side and hubby chose the french fries. I was not aware that on Saturdays the special was the smoked Prime Rib.

Our food finally came to the table after waiting quite a while, found out reason was because they had a bigger party in a different room.
Everything looked good. started to apply my cinnamon butter to my sweet potato, it was barely warm enough to melt the butter.
The prime was gross, first I didn't realized I ordered the Saturday special Prime Rib but just the regular Prime. I could have over looked that, but it had absolutely no flavor and tasted like it had sat in water cooking all day. Very cheap and tough cut of meat.
Our waitress bought me out a non-smoked cut. It was not any better. Ordered Medium-Rare and probably got a medium-well replacement. I only ate half the cut and my replacement sweet potato which wasn't any better in temperature.

My husband kept his cut of smoked PR and ate as much as he could by adding flavor with the provided horsey/mayo . This is a man that always finishes his plate, He left a 1/3rd of his plate.

The waitress was very nice and accommodating but feel was stretch thin with how many tables she was waiting on.

I sometimes will give a restaurant a second chance and have decided I will not give this one a second opportunity to win me over.

We have tried this place again many times for breakfast and the food has been good.

When she did, we were ready to order. We decided to start with an appetizer and ordered fried chicken as our main dish.

I gave three stars only because their Sunday buffet brunch is good. Today I brought my family for Mother’s Day and was very disappointed in the food for the price. My sister order a mimosa and was told they don’t serve them. We were told refills were not included in the price for drinks. We paid $33 per person and had a group of 11. The food was cold and the food choices were not great for the price. After we paid for our food my sister heard a different table order a mimosa and was served a strawberry mimosa. If I didn’t like their Sunday buffet I would have gave a one star. Very disappointed in today’s brunch. The only good part about our experience was I was with my family.

The buffet was difficult to find, as there was little signage. The options were limited, and the omlette bar was not staffed; but, the chocolate fountain was tasty. The booth seats are wood, which is uncomfortable; I do not know about the chairs. Staff was friendly enough, if not entirely attentive. Been here 3 times so far with staying at the Hampton Inn for the past month. All food was excellent. I had Chicken Livers 1st then Savory Shrimp and today Heartland Pork combo. All of it was delicious. I've had Cheyenne for my server all 3 times. She is a wonderful asset to this business. Very attentive and accommodating!

First time there, It's a huge place.
Not sure if they were short staffed the other night, but only seemed like 3 ladies trying to run everywhere.
Food was decent and fair priced.
There's a gift shop as well from books, to pies and toys.
For food we got tater skins , it had BBQ sauce on them , maybe that could be done as a side dip sauce instead as I'm not a fan of it. Steak was made med like I asked. Was plenty juicy. Surprised it didn't hardly ha e any fat on it as well.
Garlic mashed potatoes were a little over powering on seasoning and slightly cooled already.
Green beans were ok, they have shaved almonds in the mix as well.

Overall it was a nice sit down place where it could potentially become loud if it was fully loaded. Again feel bad for the gals that ran around all the tables that night.

Prices are fair compared to everywhere else so I say give it a try.

I have never given a bad review however this was a Very disappointing experience -- boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant before and it was great.. not so this time.. we were seated - took the server about 10 minutes to get to our table - there were only 3 other tables in this section . gave her the benefit of the doubt that she was busy or ? - when she came to the table - asked her how she was doing and she said either frustrated or something to that effect -- she took our order - I ordered the parmesan pork - garlic mashed potatoes and came with baby carrots.. boyfriend ordered the Brisket dinner - which per the menu ( All dinners are served with our fresh baked breads, real butter - ) - boyfriend asked if he could have mac and cheese for a side.. waitress thought about it and said no -- it only comes as a dinner -- he said I will just have the brisket and no side then.. the food came and he got the brisket and also beans, which he did not order.. my Parmesan pork was tasty, however the garlic mashed were warm - at best.. she came back to check on us - two times.. once to see if we needed anything else. that is when I had to ask for dinner rolls - brought those to the table with no butter - good thing I asked for butter with my garlic mashed.. had to use that for the dinner rolls.. second time we asked for the bill and a box.. noone asked how the meal was -- very disappointed.. not sure if she needed more training or knowledge of the menu or ? the host/cashier did give me a bag for my go box.. will be a long time to visit there again..

Was not pleased with my food I ordered a I think it was called a hablor beef tips. The beef tips were over done there were only like 6 pieces of meat when I bit into a few they were hard but had a sour taste. There was like a stuffing under it which was soggy and a white sauce that wasn't bad some of the mushrooms were cold. The potatoes were so thick and lumpy I had a half cooked potatoe in mine. There were only like 8 baby carrots on the plate and they were cold.
My husband had a catfish meal which he said was a little slimy and his plate had so much broccoli and then his mashed potatoes were thick and lumpy as well.
The server we had started out ok but she hit the back of the booth with her tray then she walked into the corner of the booth I thought it was rude she stood from the back of the booth leaned over and says would you like more lemonade I was drinking sprite she laughs and says oh it looks like lemonade. Half way thru eating the server asks you want boxes comes back trys giving us someone else's bil and there card starts laughing and says oh that's not yours.
I was not impressed and will not be returning.

I had my first experience at a machine shed recently, and I must say, it was truly impressive! While the prices were on the higher side, they were justified by the meticulous attention to detail. The authentic mashed potatoes and real bacon bites drizzled with honey, paired with fresh vegetables, made the meal exceptionally worthwhile. The atmosphere was fantastic, with everything thoughtfully arranged. I typically do not write reviews, but this experience was remarkable enough to warrant one. Karri provided outstanding service—she was friendly and very helpful. I wholeheartedly give it five stars and highly recommend a visit. We enjoyed dinner and are looking forward to returning for breakfast.

A group of us 3 showed up shortly after the restaurant opened. We were the 2nd table seated for the day. We ordered the beer cheese appetizer, drinks, Mac & cheese with brisket, chicken fried steak, and chicken fried chicken. The brisket was obviously reheated and had a horrible chemical taste. Chicken fried chicken seemed fine. Chicken fried steak was over deep fried to the point the steak was brittle and grainy. Our server however was wonderful! Also - 3 flies swarmed us towards end of meal and we had to keep shooing them away. We made no mention of the food deciding to simply never visit again.

Some of the best service I've ever experienced at the Machine Shed. It is obvious that the customer will always be happy here. That is their goal every time you visit. And when you visit, you're not just a customer or the guest, your family. That's how I feel when I come here. Thank you Machine Shed. To everyone that works there, you all do a great job. Only getting a 2 star because The food was phenomenal. The service was horrible. I got better service at McDonald’s. We waited to be seated, with only a few tables occupied. That part was fine. But after we ordered and received our food we were never checked on. Never asked if we needed drink refills. And waited almost 40 min just for a server to come and ask how things are (which at that point my fiance was out in the car with my 6 year old who had a meltdown and I was just wanting to go home.) so no drink refills, we ordered an AYCE type dinner, but kinda hard to have that reordered when there was literally no service. And just when I think the service couldn’t get worse, I stood 10 min at the counter holding a fussy baby while waiting to pay for our meal. Finally after 10 minutes of waiting someone came and I paid for our food, leaving absolutely no tip and left. First time IVE EVER NOT LEFT A TIP. Food was amazing. But never dealing with the service again. Sad

My husband and I went for the Sunday brunch; $16.99 per person. I was never more disappointed with a brunch. Nothing was made from scratch, the pancakes were pre made like you would get in the freezer section at a grocery store. The eggs were egg beaters or some imitation, the “homemade cinnamon rolls” were clearly not homemade the icing was from a store bought tub but definitely not homemade. The only thing that was edible was the bacon and sausage. This is not worth the $16.99. I did ask the waitress if we would have ordered off the menu would we have gotten homemade eggs and pancakes and she said yes we would have. Don’t offer a brunch if you cannot do it the right way.

The name of the restaurant gives off the wrong impression. Especially with the lighting at night, Machine Shed sounds like a scary slaughterhouse or something. It was the opposite of what i thought once i went inside. I enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere here. We got sandwiches and the fries were delicious. I got some turkey sandwich and it was very good. The waitress was nice and for the most part we left with a good impression of the place.

They have a little shop like cracker barrel does of country things.

we just finished our brunch in appleton. we should have listened to our gut response to the disrepair of the grounds, and disrespect for the flag displayed, but we went in anyway. all the wall hangings were dusty dirty and even the ceiling panels were grimy. our feet stuck to the floor in the brunch room (sticky, dirty wood), the tables were wiped in a way that the food fell on the chairs, the food itself was dry, baked goods were flavorless and service was sub par. especially front of house. even the bathroom was not ready to have a crowd as they were out of paper in the stall...
we love the machine shed in Des Moines, IA and really looked forward to this, but despite staffing challenges at both sites, Appleton needs to re-evaluate their management. I even got a dirty look when I mentioned the need for toilet paper. Wow!

Place looked abandoned. Woke our waitress up, apparently she was more interested in her phone behind the counter. Was seated with one other couple in the entire restaurant. Handed menus and water. Looked like a nice salad bar. Nothing indicating a price on the menu. Waitress came back after a few minutes we asked about the salad bar and was told it was $5.99 extra and also came with soup. We ordered the soup and chili,came out ice cold but waitress never reappeared until it was with our dinner. Asked for it to go since dinner was now served and had gone to salad bar twice while waiting to ask to heat it up. was told we couldn't since it was part of all you can eat..told her we couldn't eat it since it was cold gelatinous goo... wife asked what the 2 piece chicken entailed and was told a breast and thigh or leg. Of course it came with a wing which was the reason for asking.. by now pretty upset about the whole deal, she was unreasonable and told us not to talk to her that way.Told her we wanted to speak to a manager ,could hear her going on with the owner in front giving her story for another 5 minutes so we left $20 for our 2 salad bars and left.

Stopped in for a steak, ordered it rare to medium rare, when it came out I was informed that medium rare was the lowest they could go ( had I known that before I would have ordered a different cut to offset). This thing came out looking and tasting like a piece of leather, I have had jerky with more moisture than this. I informed my server and showed her that the center was basically well done, she talked to the manager and they took $5 off of a $30 steak, not even willing to come talk with me, so i assume its a common problem. I hate wasting meat, but I couldn't choke down more than 3 bites. To top it off I had flies landing in my food. I will never go back here and would strongly recommend to steer clear. This is my second time dining in at this location. The food is really good. Just for reference, I am not easily impressed when it comes to food. The customer service is even better. My waitress name was Tosha. She was very fast, efficient , and most importantly, pleasant. I will come here anytime. Tosha deserves a raise. I saw her running like crazy!

Excellent food and service. Chicken all you can eat on Tuesday is great. Rolls, coleslaw and cottage cheese before meal were fantastic. The first plate with 4 pieces of chicken, green beans and garlic mashed potatoes were enough for me. Our waitress Brooke did a great job.

This is a must stop and eat - the food (Meatloaf is a must have, the potato soup was thick and awesome, the beef brisket salad is a must have) and the service was awesome.

We thought the place wasn't open because the parking lot was empty; started to pull off, but I convinced my group to try.

Our first time here and will be returning. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Our dinner came with homemade bread. I haven't had homemade bread in a long time. It was very good! I had the catfish dinner with sweet potato fries. This dish was very delish. My husband had the full slab of BBQ ribs with fries. It was so much they that he couldn't finish it. My son has the combo and he couldn't finish it all. We ended up taking a slice of Snickers and apple dumplings pie to go. Cannot wait to have some tomorrow with my coffee. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Food was so incredibly mid. For just 3 of us the total was 104 dollars which is absolutely insane, and all we ordered was 2 coffees and 3 brunch buffets. This is not a 5 star restaurant and they think that that price is okay?? Not only that but the eggs you could tell were from a carton and the chocolate fountain had the cheapest tasting chocolate I've ever had. Walked around the buffet area and the floor was so sticky I would stick to the ground anytime I moved.
Definitely has gone SO downhill since the last time my family went here. If you want to be disappointed, come here.

Great food! Clean well run establishment. Friendly helpful staff. I love the potato soup. The Pork Chops are perfect as is the Pot Roast & Chicken Pot Pie is truly comforting.
Friday fish fry is terrific, all you can eat. I never have room for desert so I choose a sweet delight to take home. They serve Spotted Cow Beer on Tap if you enjoy a glass with your meal. Treat yourself any day the foods better then OK so take a guest from out of town to show off this wonderful restaurant.

We went for easter brunch. Prices are INSANE! And on top of the $26 price you had to pay extra for orange juice! Unless you stuff your face and hide food in your clothes, not worth the price. The food was good but most of it was cold. I got make your own omelet but couldnt eat all of it. Asked for small box to take leftovers and was told no. I get it, they dont want you swiping food, but how much can one get in a small to go container when you have an omelet leftover? Doesn't make sense to throw it out? What a waste!! All you can eat is a gimmick and wont be doing again.
