I’m writing this review with a heavy heart, as I genuinely believe this is the only way to express my sadness over what I perceive as the “gradual decline of Mary’s.” Before 2020, things were different. I haven’t had a proper full breakfast at Mary’s since 2019, and I appreciate a classic diner experience if everything stays the same! However, I feel this restaurant desperately needs a major makeover.

When I walked in, the service was okay, but they seemed understaffed, and I don’t blame them for that—good help is hard to come by. My concern started when I noticed a sour smell in the restaurant that seemed to follow me throughout my visit and even into the taste of my extremely overpriced food.

Let’s talk about how long the food took to come out. It was a very long wait for the number of customers dining, but not so long that I was worried. Again, understaffed equals slow food running.

My biggest concern was the price. I paid $18 (not including tip) for an omelet, a pancake, and an orange juice. I can walk down the street and get the same thing for $8 less!

I guess my reason for writing this is that it saddens me to see Mary’s struggling. They’re going the way of major price increases, lack of staff, and no new carpets. Maybe they should try a scented candle?

One final note, I will update my review if Mary’s does improve and address these concerns.

Smelled like urine when I walked in. Got there just as they opened. Hardly any customers there. Stood there for about two minutes and listened to a waitress talk to someone. And talk and talk. Decided to leave because the smell was toxic. Won’t be attempting again.

I went to Mary’s this morning for some breakfast. I had a lot weighing on me and a lot on my mind. I had asked my waitress to give me some time for my order as I was trying to hold back tears of sadness, frustration, hurt, and grief. I think she (wish I knew her name so she can be recognized) read the room very respectfully. After I had finished only 1/2 of my awesome breakfast I was done. She then proceeded to tell that she had taken care of my bill for me and hoped that my day gets better. Just an amazing act of selflessness. She is a truly inspiring ray of light in today’s dark world. “She made a friend in me”

On Monday I took friends from out of state and we arrived before 11:00 am. We were seated then given beverages and menu. 25 - 30 minutes later a waitress took our order. We split the best warm cinnamon roll. We saw guests who arrived after us receive their food. Ì kept apologizing for the slow service. Finally the food arrived but my order has to be corrected. My friends and I enjoyed the food and thankfully we made it to the funeral in time.

Took my mother, grandmother, and family out to lunch today for the first and absolutely last time. The service was awful. Our waitress never checked on us after taking our order. My wrap was cold. I was missing my side with my wrap. My mother's food was bland. My daughter's Mac n cheese was Kraft Mac n cheese, not even homemade. My grandmothers chicken dumpling soup tasted bad. Only thing we kinda liked was the broasted chicken, even though it was very small. When our waitress FINALLY came by us and asked if we wanted to bill, I told her I never got my side dish and my wrap was cold. Her exact words to me 'oh I have your fries, I'll go get them now'. After we were all done and wanted to get out of there. I told her no, we wanted to leave now and to give me the bill. She didn't even offer to take off my meal!! Worst service I have ever experienced. It feels old and dirty inside. Needs a major update.

Edit: 😂 their response to the HORRIBLE service is they service 400-500 people daily, yet when we were there, only 5 tables had people. Don't waste your time or money on this place!

Will always be a favorite place to eat at with family and friends. Wish they still had the other one as well. Best soups around for a decent price. Chicken Dumplings, white chicken chili, regular chili along with others. Was busy busy at 3-4pm. Plus 3 Ppl for to go orders as well. Myself was 4th. Stopped for breakfast around 10 am. Was greeted right away. The place was not too busy. Took about 20 minutes for wait staff to take my order, another 15 to 20 minutes to receive my order. I had 2 pancakes with sausage links and coffee. The food was hot, but not much flavor. Coffee was good. Wait staff was friendly, but not too attentive. Restaurant was getting busier when I was leaving.

I grew up going to Mary’s and have always loved it. Today was one of the worst service experiences I can recall having. We had a reservation and were told they put another group at our table. We ended up being seated a little later than planned but it was fine. After putting in our order we waited over an hour for food. We were never one given a refill of drinks and even went up to ask for coffee. We also had to go get our own napkins and silverware. When asking for an update we were brushed off and the woman shrugged and said they’re busy. I asked to speak to the manager at this point, to which someone went to tell the manager and said they’d be up shortly; the manager never came up and at this point our food has arrived. Orders were missing component and the steak was completely overcooked. When I spoke to the woman as we checked out (to voice the concerns the manager never came to speak to me about), the only response is they are busy. We were there from 10:25-12:10 and during that time no one apologized or seemed to even realize how awful the service was. I will say they have lost some customers after today.

Slow and rude servers. We sat and asked what drinks we wanted, and we were waiting on a third person. She shows up, we order. Then someone in my party needed something, not urgently, but it would have been nice to have had it done when asked. We asked for a simple cup of water and the woman we asked (a WAITRESS cleaning the table next to us) goes, "Your waitress is busy." Then proceeded to walk back behind the bar and talk amongst her coworkers. Not ONE of them came over by us for another 15 min!

Very disappointed. Broasted chicken was overdone and lacked actual meat. Potatoes were instant, dry, and tasteless as was the chicken gravy. The “very sweet corn” tasted like nothing more than canned corn warmed in a microwave with no butter, salt, nothing. My partner ordered mashed potatoes with no gravy and received them with gravy already on them, so they weren’t something they could eat.

Waitstaff could have been more attentive. The building is old, which is okay because it is also fairly clean, but it would benefit from cosmetic updates. The interior is not cozy or inviting. The biggest turn-off is the smell. Instead of smelling good food upon entering, one is overwhelmed by a musty smell. I do not know what causes it, but it is the reason I will not return.

the young blonde woman opened the styrofoam box and pawed through my food before giving it to me so I thought order must be correct - wrong.
When I called on the phone they told me to come back and pick up the missing items. i was upset and they hung up. now not answering phone.
