Excellent food; the best salmon sushi I've had anywhere, and I've been around. The spicy spider rolls are a must-have, as is the shrimp soba. My parents always order the spicy spinach tuna when we go, and it's delicious as well. Mashima (formerly Nakashima) is a place I bring friends to when they visit from out of state, to impress them by just how good you can get sushi in Wisconsin of all places.

Our server, Abby, was excellent: attentive, personable, and got my dad's drink order right (which is, every time we go, a spectacle to be endured by both me and our server). Abby does a fantastic job.

This was the WORST experience we've ever had at a restaurant, PERIOD. One server?? 2 drinks were accidentally spilled and ignored by staff for an hour. Asked for manager several times, but they chose to hide. Disgustingly unprofessional and horribly understaffed. Save your money.

It was a fun experience having the food cooked in front of you, I got the lobster and filet mignon, with fried rice, I just believe all the food lacked seasoning it was just salty, lobster taste like lemon so that was nice but that was the only other flavor besides salt.

**A Must-Visit for Sushi Lovers – Chef Ako is a Master!**

While this restaurant may be known for its hibachi, do *not* overlook the sushi — especially if Chef Ako is behind the counter! We asked her to choose four rolls for us, and every single one was absolutely phenomenal. She surprised us with selections we likely wouldn’t have picked ourselves, and we are *so* glad she did.

The **Shinobi Roll** was the standout — bold, balanced, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Close behind was the **Naka Roll**, which had such a unique flavor profile that we’re still thinking about it. Honestly, all four rolls were delicious — fresh, beautifully plated, and full of creativity.

Our experience was made even better by our fantastic server, **Bryana**, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out just right.

If you’re dining here, do yourself a favor: skip the menu, sit in the sushi area, and let Chef Ako take the lead. You will *not* regret it!

This place has become an annual tradition for my wife and I on our anniversary. The food is scrumptious from the steak, the chicken, the shrimp, and the fried rice.

But the soup and the salad! I love the ginger salad dressing and the soup with bits of mushroom combined with savory beef broth. Chefs kiss 🤌🏻 even though I’m not a chef.

Our server Tye (with the green hat) was goat and Lexi our hostess and MC was perfect and had charisma. This made for an awesome night with laughs, tears (jk no tears were shed but it made my description more dramatic), and many smiles.

Just for perspective, I’m not new to Japanese cuisine in the states or the hibachi style experience. I generally don’t even leave reviews. However, that being said this needs said. First impression upon greeting by hostess: rude, aloof. Let’s get onto the food. I ordered my usual Sashimi chefs choice. The selection was basic and poor. The cuts were performed as though by an amateur. The fish quality was very poor. This quality could be achieved at your local grocery store. Lastly the price for quality is…. I don’t even know what to say maybe consider a dumpster dive instead.

Not overly impressed given the expense of the bill. My tuna roll had only enough tuna as big as my nail bed, and the veggie tempura roll did not contain any sweet potato which is the reason I ordered it in the first place. My garden salad was a disgrace, made up of mostly brown lettuce. Service was wonderful. Atmosphere is lovely. Unfortunately though that's not enough for me to return.

They should do last call before closing the bar. We had dinner there last night and had sushi and hibachi at our table. The hibachi was done and we were waiting on all our sushi so we tried to order three hot saki. We were told that the bar closed at 8:45 and the bartenders were gone. When we were done and leaving we could see the bartender behind the bar cleaning up and restocking stuff so it was obvious they were still there. It was the same bartender who made our drinks earlier. I would maybe understand if we wanted 3 specialty cocktails that took awhile to make. 3 hot saki should have been simple and would have boosted the check and tip.

We also ordered one shrimp tempora roll and got two. We said something to the waitress and she left it and charged us for it. We took it home since we paid for it.

Have been at this location when it was called Nakashima and loved it. First time at it now that it’s called Mashima. Was really hoping it would be comparable, but definitely a bust. Rolls were super tiny with VERY disappointing flavor for price. Poorly rolled with lackluster presentation. Spent almost $100 for 4 people (1 adult, three kids)—8 rolls(2 special, 6 regular), 3 non-alcoholic beverages. We left deciding to order take out from a different sushi restaurant on the way home as we were all unsatisfied. Will not be coming back.
Also my son said the men’s room was out of toilet paper and he had to have his brother bring him some. I mention this because it was definitely not busy.
Unkempt parking lot. Obviously the same building as Nakashima’s was, so a beautiful atmosphere inside. Waitress was nice and cheery, just noted they do directly ask for good Google reviews that specifically mention their names.
