We ordered Mateo's for a staff event of ours at Animal Medical Center and were quite pleased with the quality, quantity and cost of the food! The portions were HUGE and super affordable, not to mention the unique variety the menu offered was appreciated as we looked to feed a variety of people, to top it off- not a single staff member had any complaints about their dishes! We hope to return either individually or as a company soon!

The best of their cooks work during the busy times; the food is delectable, affordable, and quick to make it to the table. Staff is all friendly and fast. The small building can get crowded and the wait times during breakfast rush can be up to 40 minutes, but for the most part they always have a table open for a group of 4 or less on the regular day.

Service, staff and food quality make this café a must visit destination. The staff greeted everyone coming in the doors, which in this day and age, is sparse. The service was very attentive, yet not bothersome and the food. The there is the food. Portion sizes are very generous and omelets are superb. I had the eggs Benedict with biscuits and gravy as my side, and I must say I am somewhat of a hollandaise sauce snob.... they were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Omlet was filled and folded, not topped with toppings like you find at other places with fresh ingredients. Delicious food. Great service. Highly recommend!!

First time at Mateo’s and, wow, we will definitely be back! They had every table filled during a Monday brunch hour and I was impressed with the staff’s teamwork. You can tell folks like working there and it shows with their excellent service and food!

Reyna was our server and she was just a gem. She forgot to have the kitchen make two kids breakfast entrée and was very clear with us regarding her error. I was impressed with her humbleness and transparency on the situation. She set a great example for my 6 and 8-year-old on accountability, work ethic, and kindness <3

In my opinion needed some work , we were in the area for a few hours. I googled the best breakfast in Appleton and this business came up In the top three so we decided to try it. It was very, very busy we had to wait for a parking place, It was loud inside because it was so busy. Food taste was just okay , however, the presentation needed a lot of work, which is why I’m giving this three stars.

I ordered a corned beef hash skillet, it looked like the eggs were quickly just thrown on top to serve, You could see the outline of the square piece of cheese placed on top , which did not look appealing to me at all and seemed like a lazy fast short cut to use, I’ve never seen that before , Shredded cheese should have been used . It did take about five minutes after I was served my skillet For my server to bring me the toast that went with it.

We would be willing to Try it again, hoping the second time the presentation does improve.

Best service I’ve had in any restaurant in years. They constantly come around refilling your coffee and asking if you want anything.
Food was delicious and very large portions, except for the cinnamon French Toast, which is fine, because I like normal size portions, and avoiding the temptation to overeat.
We were there on Easter Sunday, they were very busy and apologized for how long the food took, but I was just glad they were open. I will definitely be back.

I’ve been to Mateo’s three times and it’s frankly my favorite. Going out for breakfast has been a family event all my life and reminds me of the time I spent with my grandparents, both who have passed. The atmosphere here is wonderful. It’s quiet without being awkward, so everyone can hear each other talk, and even on a slow day it’s busy with all kinds of families with their littles or with their grandparents, making their own life-long memories.
The space is clean, isn’t stuffy and I can’t smell the kitchen from the dining area, and the service is spectacular. I had my chair pulled out for me today and it made me feel special.
I order the farmers omelette just with hash browns because the omelette is huge and I couldn’t possible eat more, and I only ever eat half anyway! The value for the portion and the quality is fabulous.
Being able to treat myself or spend time with family here is always something I look forward to and can’t wait to bring my nieces and nephew here for more memory making.
They are a treasure to the Valley!

We had family visiting from out of state & heard awesome reviews about Mateo’s. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The service from the waitresses was awesome and the food was delicious. My husband and I will be back locally and definitely will bring the family back in the future. The waitresses speaks Spanish which was a plus for us🥰

We were in town for a show. We try to find local places to eat (tired of chain restaurants) and we came across Mateo's. Being a Sunday it was busy but only had to wait 15 mins to be seated. Staff very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and would come back again. Support you local businesses.

First time eating here today and the food was amazing! The coffee may be the best restaurant coffee I have ever had. Had the tres leches pancakes special and I’m so glad I did, they were superb. My cousin had the banana caramel nut waffle and enjoyed it immensely, my mom had the bacon avocado omelet and my husband the potato pancakes and it was all great. Saw some of the skillets coming out of the kitchen and they’re huge and the eggs cooked absolutely spot on.

Making this one of our top breakfast spots in Appleton.

Oh my gosh….this is the best breakfast place I have ever been too! Got the build your own skillet. Beyond worth it! Just come and be shocked at the service and the food. Wish I could come often but in Wisconsin I will always make the stop.

2nd visit. This place is definitely a breakfast "go-to", if you want consistent delicious food and customer service. Both times, it was busy, not loud, food arrived quickly, coffee cups filled.

I only take time to leave reviews if I have a positive experience! And I would definitely recommend!

Nice little breakfast place. Food has never disappointed (except bacon was not cooked as crispy as we like once and the toast was hard as a rock once also). Besides those little extras, the main breakfast dishes have always been great. Service can be a little crazy cause it can be a little busy depending when you go, so keep your patience. Food is worth it..and the atmosphere is welcoming.

Great food, great service, and clean!

My husband and I were traveling through the area and wanted breakfast that wasn't fast food or Ihop. And we are so glad we found Mateo’s!
The prices were great, especially when you consider how much food they give you!
