Love this cute place! they are so fast. I recommend the BLT and also the chicken dumpling soup. The bacon was perfectly cooked and had magnificent flavor. Some restaurants serve you really fatty bacon that has a off taste.. not here!! The bakery counter is pretty amazing too ❤️ every time we are traveling and passing through here this is where we stop to eat!

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but wow, this place has so much going for it. We had burgers and fries that tasted fabulous, service was friendly and it felt like it was run by a family for *real*. No gluten free bun option was the only downer. The cheese store next door was a huge plus--handcrafted award-winning cheese--what's not to love? We have already dropped a pin here for our trip home.

Once a nice place to stop for a travel break and get a good meal, this place has slipped in a bad direction. When we arrived around noon, we weren't sure they were open as there were so few cars around. We were seated by a nice yound lady and ordered from their specials menu to save some time. We both ordered the mosticholi with meat balls which came with garlic bread and salad. The salad was small but OK. The mosticholi came and looked terrible. My wife had to ask for meat balls as her dish didn't have any. It looked like the concoction had sat in a pot for days being re-heated over and over. The noodles were broken down and stuck together into a paste like mass. The garlic bread was just a slice of white bread cut diagonally and dipped into some kind of oil and sprinkled with garlic salt.
We should have sent it all back but didn't think anything else from that kitchen would be any better. We left the noodle mass and continued on our travels convinced not to return.

Everything was very good except for the soup. 4.50 for a cup of soup that was 75% broth with 1 big dumpling and handful of celery pieces and no chicken. It was tasty, but disappointing. Same with the taco salad. It was really good, everything was fresh and tasty, but only about 2 spoonfuls of taco meat. The quality was worth the stop, just a little light on the serving.

I ordered the Liver and onions with green beans and mashed potatoes and a cup of chicken and dumplings. I was not happy with any of the food. The liver was extremely dry and tough the green beans were absolutely horrible. The potatoes were ok might have been better with some gravy. The Chicken and Dumplings were bland and just not that good. I sat at the counter which is where I had the biggest issue. Numerous people had complained about their food being wrong or not good and the staff members were talking about the customers like it was their fault. Overall a poor experience and I won't be back.

In Mauston 8/1/25 for a medical appt., so decided to stop for brunch/lunch before getting back on the Interstate...bad idea! In a previous review, someone stated they should've stopped at McDonald's instead...couldn't agree more (and I'm definitely not jazzed about McD's)! For what we paid, the food was awful!!! (1) Coffee was terrible; replaced with a soda instead...had to pay for both! (2) BLT: no bread choice as menu stated; bread was barely (and I mean BARELY) toasted; hardly any mayo (upon request, 'not happy' waitress brought some generic mayo packets...tasted VERY funky); lettuce/tomato were mediocre at best. (3) Fries were old and cold (waitress replaced w/cup of chili...very bland). (4) Husband ordered Denver Special: some of it was ok, but the hashbrowns were definitely undercooked...at least he got a choice of bread! (5) Waitress was so-so...fairly attentive, but definitely not friendly or pleasant. (6) Upon entering, thought about buying some bakery to take home, but after our experience...forget it!!! I rarely write reviews, but this dining experience was so bad that I decided I had to share.

So I came into the family restaurant in Mauston, WI. I ordered the pork chop meal. It was 15.00. When I received the meal it was missing an item and the pork chop was partial raw. I asked for a salad, it was straight lettuce. No cheese, nothing but a chunk of tomato. I asked her about the salad and she stated that’s how they do their salad there. A bowl full of lettuce. That is not a salad. So that’s false advertising first hand. Then I asked her before ordering it that if everything that came with the Sunday dinner came with that meal and she said yes. When I asked her on the phone why she told me that she stated to me that she miss understood me and that it didn’t come with her. She then stated I could come back and get a full refund for the meal since the whole meal other then the potatoes was wrong or not done right. I went in the next day to get a refund and a very nice young lady stated to me that there was a note that I was to be refunded 6.00 for a 15.00 dollar meal including the 3 dollar tip. This restaurant should fire this lady or demote her because she doesn’t know how to do her job. The food was very bad. If I could give this restaurant no stars I definitely. I will make sure a lot of people in this area knows about this because it was wrong.

Was recommended this breakfast place by a local bartender from the night before. We pulled in and seen 4 fishing boats already 8n the parking lot. My words to everyone in the truck were, "Well it looks like the fishermen are here. It must be good.

We had seven in our group and they easily had room for us. I had the cinnamon roll french toast and a side of hash browns extra crispy. It tasted great.

Everyone left happ and full. Looking at stopping for lunch on our next trip in late July.

This was a large family group in a separate room. Orders were taken promptly. tickets for each family group.
Suggested menu was somewhat limiting, but we did order some off the menu. Everything came out promptly and together. Clean up was quick, offers of refills and asking if we needed anything that was great. Bakery was a hit.

My partner and I frequent here quite often, every time we are greeted my smiling friendly faces makes the environment welcoming and warm. It’s very clean and well kept. The food is homemade and delicious. The staff are efficiently trained and very polite. Definitely recommend!!!

We should have stopped at a McDonald’s. Waitress was extremely nice. I ordered a turkey club and hubby ordered a hot beef sandwich. My club was puny but I was hungry. There literally is one slice of thin turkey and a few pieces of bacon. Take a look at my lettuce. Gross. So wilted. A club should be crunchy with lettuce. The toast was over toasted, because no meat was extremely dry with a puny tomato. For the cost, extremely overpriced. Hubby said his sandwich was so-so. Next time, I’ll pass the exit.

Food was overall good. Corned beef hash could have done for a little salt, but the true star is the steak and desserts. A true, well-done steak that is done and juicy is a hidden gem. We stopped in on 7/25/24 for a pit stop on the way to La Crosse.
Our server was great, very sweet. I ordered the hungry man breakfast. I'm picky with how I like my eggs (over hard, yolk broken) and they got it right, it's amazing how many don't. It was a lot if food, I was able to share some of it.
My husband ordered the chicken Philly, he said it was ok.
And our son got chicken tenders and cheese curds. He said the chicken was ok. He liked the cheese curds.
The bathrooms were clean.
The building is attached to the Carr Valley Cheese, bathrooms between the 2.
I would stop back in again if we were to take this route again.

Stopped in for Sunday breakfast, not that busy, but waitress seemed to forget about me quick. Didn't think it was possible to over cook hasbrowns on the outside, and serve half of them undercooked on one end. Also didn't realize you can actually undercook scrambled eggs! Too many surprises for me to ever go back. Asked the high school girl cashier if she wanted to ask me how was my breakfast? It’s been a while since we were here, but we enjoyed a wonderful lunch here and definitely will put it on the list to return to! Our check was brought with our food... so, we guessed that meant we wouldn't see our server again. And sure enough, we didn't until we were ready to leave. By that point my drink was empty. Food was so-so. My husband had the 2x4 breakfast and his sausage links were cold in the middle, and the bun for my fish sandwich was twice as big as the fish. When we paid, my husband noticed an extra charge on our bill. When he questioned it, one girl had no idea what he was talking about and another said, "yah, for using a card to pay...a lot of placing are doing that now". In our experience, there is a sign up letting you know about the extra charge.. but not here. Very disappointed.

Bacon had a weird taste. Pancakes were either over or under cooked. I had the Sunday ham dinner. The stuffing was runny. Like actually runny. My American fried potatoes were raw. And the ham was over cooked and dry. I was so sad. The baked goods rescued the experience

I have been going here for years... always was a great place and they use to accept any complaint and take them seriously. Until today. Beware if you have kids because the staff thinks its acceptable to touch them(even poking a child is unacceptable at any time) but the "owner" tried denying it happened. The waitress was apologizing after she did it so obviously it happened. You have cameras so look at them!!! You scared my child because a stranger touched her and that is highly unacceptable, aside from that you don't know if someone has a medical device on them so you don't touch them. The fact that this was brushed under the table I wouldn't recommend going here unless you're ok with staff touching your kids!

Not a bad stop if you are on the road and hungry. There were a lot of options but the food was fairly plain. Customer service was very good. If you want to know what's really good, try the homemade bakery items. Loved the pumpkin cream bar!

This restaurant is the real deal. Safe for celiacs and so many options which I was not expecting! They offer dine-in and take out. I enjoyed a burger my first night there, along with fries, and in the morning I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had. Even if you’re not gluten free, the food is so delicious - home cooked, definitely made with love. Don’t miss this place, and make sure you order a few of the gigantic cookies to go. You will not regret it!

Party of two entered about 6:15 pm. We were the only ones in line. We stood for about 15 minutes without any staff acknowledging us at all. The people who came in after us walked out. We stood for another 5 minutes before we also walked out, still no acknowledgement. No amount of stars makes up for the lack of service. No, they were not busy, and looked as if they were adequately staffed.

Some of the customer service wasn’t great. I heard waitress say she wasn’t going to serve me while I was at the counter because of her disliking me. Wasn’t very happy about that because I had to wait extra long to be served because other people weren’t free. Otherwise my waitress at the table was very nice. The food was amazing and I enjoyed it.

Decent food. Not the best or worth 5 starts but it was edible. The coffee was flat and stale. Definitely need to work on their coffee game. Service was ok… not bad but not great. I would give it a second try if I was a local. But I’m from Cincy. Was just passing through on a road trip.

My whole family got the fish fry, when it came we all laughed because we thought it was a joke. The fish were the size of little nuggets, no flavor, and very rubbery. The rest of the food had a nursing home vibe to it, and the staff was almost none existent.
