The experience I just had at McDonald's Monona Drive was horrible. And it was backed by their poor management. First of all they gave me cold food and didn't even complete my order. I ordered two 10-piece nugget meals mediums with drinks They didn't even send me the second fry I had to drive back to the store to get it. On top of both of them being cold they offered nothing for compensating for me have to drive back not a cookie and extra fry nothing and so when I got the manager to ask him if they could compensate for me having to come back to get my completed order He told me corporate doesn't allow that and I said even if you guys make mistakes and he said yep you'll have to take it up with the GM who's only here in the mornings and I said wow what if you have mistakes that happen in the evening and he said that's just how it is and it was such a poor response I will never ever ever go back to McDonald's on Monona Drive I made a mistake for suggesting that location to begin with I promise you I will never go back What poor customer service.

This is by far the worst McDonalds in Madison. The food is horrible. Chicken nuthat are hard as a rock, got a Fish filets with a long black hair embedded in the bread. If you order a sandwich make sure you order it without hair.

Outside of building looks well-maintained. I haven't been inside. The drive through line get be long, but understandable and they have two lanes to order and it's on a busy road. The woman taking the order is always polite and food and coffee have been well- prepared.

If I could score a negative I would be all over it. I ordered a fish sandwich meal. I ordered my daughter a hamburger and fries the fries were soggy and I called Management in the monona store and he told me sorry there's nothing I can do tonight. Didn't even offer to make fresh food. This restaurant is going downhill fast. I rather go to the one on Park Street or fish hatchery. This store always seems to have the food sitting there longer than its supposed to.

Employee PAISLEY tried to justify bad service and rudeness!

I came in through the drive-thru just to order a large Coke and large fry only to get soggy cold fries upon leaving. When I returned and asked for fresh fries please I was simply given more soggy warm fries. When I finally said come on for real can you please drop some fresh fries for me All I got was attitude. So then they made me wait 9 minutes inside for fries that weren't even super hot and when I said this is taking a little too long I think I just want a refund she immediately said you don't get your fries then! Like I care! I just want to be out of this terrible restaurant can't even get fresh fries absolutely unbelievable. Paisley should be fired You don't talk to customers like that. Justifying why you guys made so many mistakes and took so long that's absolutely ridiculous. Your generation is all about excuses obviously.

They forgot my my syrup, so I went back through drive and got it. I saw 2 small bags with my food and thought those were my hash browns, but they weren't. So, I called and talked to a manager. She spoke next to ne English and refused to give me her name then hung up.

I went to the restaurant and talked to the manager. The cashier had to interpret our conversation. She refused to give me her name again. Finally, after 3rd time, she told me "Sophia," but refused to spell it for me. I had no other choice, but to call corporate again.

This was not the first time that I had complained about the management and work practices at this location. The first complaint was about a refusal of a refund on a accidental double other. It's been almost 5 months and no contact from the owner or customer service on the restaurants part.

Take your money elsewhere.

It used to take a very long time to get through the line, but they are now much more efficient and the staff is very pleasant. It's a great improvement!

Horrible horrible customer service. My job starts at 10am I rushed my way to get breakfast was the only car in the drive through and in the McDonald's ordering line. 9:20am-9:40am waited nearly 25 minutes of nothing. Tells me to go to second window. Already paid through mobile app. Shows my phone receipt continues to muffle and pretends like she doesn't understand me. Gets me a manager and tells me a number 9 meal only gets a medium orange juice. I told them I already paid for it. I have to repull my transaction order to show it to him again. Argues and refuses my service and won't even comply or get me what I paid for.... Definitely the worst and last time im ever coming here until a more knowledgeable manager is replaced Zero stars ......

I would like to start by saying that I have maybe written 5 online reviews in my fourty years of life.

The McDonalds on Monona Dr, which I leave near, is the most inconsistent store I’ve ever encountered. The amount of times I’ve waited in the drive-thru for more than hour before stated closing time and received no service is frequent enough that I try any other store I can find on my way home.

Today, 30 minutes before closing, I was fortunate that service was available, but the fries I received were clearly old, room temperature, and had the consistency of cardboard. I live less than two minutes away. Just tell me you’re out of fries next time.

I ordered a Big Mac with 4 extra patties, paid $2 for the extra 4. Realized I only got one extra patty(Big Mac I think only comes with two) so I drove all the way back and asked them to make it only to be handed a new burger with 4 patties on it. I don’t know why anyone can’t understand the order window it’s simple math, whatever the original burger had on it +4 patties, just know your burgers. Anyway, I didn’t bother driving all the way back for a third drive but I do expect the order to be made right if I have to come into the store about it. everyone is very nice and welcoming though, I’ll give them that much.

The customer service sucks. I order from the mobile app and the cheeseburgers that was made all made wrong. I had a free fry they never even give me my free fry. And I went to go and issue a refund. They did not want to give me my refund without the food. I had to throw it away the food because it was made wrong. I work work in fast food. Do not come to this restaurant of lf of monona drive and I am not ordering form them ever again. They have poor customer service and the manager was just completely rude. I just left your restaurant angrier than I've been in years.... I tried to place an order and the kiosk froze... ordered on my phone asked for the food to be served at the table and was left on the counter.. I added a ranch sauce and extra onions on one of the quarter pounder I ordered, no ranch I get to the counter and I am asked if it came with my meal... after I said I added the sauce to my meal.. someone said something to the cashier to what she replied come on ots .32cents we wont go broke and gave ii to me.. I said I already paid for it... then my husband got to the counter and ask for the extra onions...and the cashier said that was not possible... then she was going to charge for them....I told her I added that to the app and she asked for the receipt... showed her my phone and said "my staff would follow directions" I said the burger doesn't have extra onions and she replied let me see it.... why would I lie about ONIONS!!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.. called the manager and she just looked all confused didn't asked anything just made a face and stayed there like had no idea what to do.. horrible..

We ordered in the mobile app around 5:40pm on Christmas Eve. We pulled up in the drive thru to give our code and the attendant said sorry we are closed (it was before 6pm) and we has already ordered and paid on the app. So we pulled up to the window and showed him our code (5:58 pm) and he said you just have to do a refund in the app. Even though we saw them give the car in front of us their bag of food. Do not go here late at night. Tonight was the second time I have gone to this location after 9pm and sat at the drive through for 5 minutes just to be told they are close when online and the door says 11pm. This time I saw someone picking up an order inside and someone waiting for food at the second window so I decided to go inside. I went to get a simple mocha Frappuccino, but it turned out for the order to be rather difficult for the workers to understand. There is a new limited time Frappuccino listed on the menu and I asked what were the ingredients in the drink. They kept saying hello, hello as if they couldn’t hear me. After a while of me, repeating my question what’s in the ingredients of the new Frappuccino? He kept saying medium. Or hello. I’ve seen on the order screen my large mocha Frappuccino, so I continue to drive up to the pay at the window. To approach the man saying that they don’t make mocha Frappuccino only caramel mocha Frappuccino. I asked why did he ring me up for a mocha Frappuccino then if you couldn’t make that simple request. Then he looked at me and just kept saying no. no. no.no. No. He had a serious attitude problem with me and I didn’t understand why he couldn’t make the simple mocha, but he would rather make a caramel mocha Frappuccino instead . And it turns out that the whole staff didn’t understand English. I tried to talk to a different staff member who would understand English, but there is no one. With my simple order on one item was rather difficult to achieve for them at this location. It’s best to know Spanish or go to a location that speaks and knows English.

Today I came up to pick up my food from my mobile order and my coworker food from her mobile order. The mobile order number did not match the order numbers, but it had our name. I provided our name I was able to get my order. The manager, Emmanuel( Manuel) Started yelling at me that I couldn’t pick up my coworkers order even though I had the screenshot of the order and that it was paid for because her phone wasn’t close enough to the building and I said well I’m picking it up for her cause we work together to save a trip, He kept talking over me while I was trying to explain this and waving his hands in my face and so I told him don’t talk over me. I’m trying to explain to you and he said OK then and walked off. Some other person who works there eventually brought me the order up Because guess what I can pick it up, even though I was told by management that I couldn’t. I even had to call my coworker and have her call the store For me to pick up the order that I have the name for. Manual was so rude to me and so unhelpful as a member of management. Clearly lacks the ability to have a civil conversation without interrupting and shouting at the customer, I don’t know if he was just having a bad day or what but I work in management and you don’t talk to people like that. Get it together

The place is absolutely filthy. Every table was dirty and had trash, The fountain covered in soda, tons of bugs and flies, the kiosks are greasy, the store looks like its rarely cleaned, and no one cleaned the entire time I was there even tho there were no other customers. The nuggets I got look like they were cooked in a dirty frier and my burger was cold even tho it was just made. To top it off this is the only mcdonald's in madison where I was charged for water ever... avoid at all costs

This place got a brand new Remodel and filled it with employees that don't care. Me and my son were the only customers in the building we had to place our order at a kiosk where I had to enter our table number only to find out we would have to go pick up our food at the counter anyways which is no big deal. I pushed the needs assistance button at the kiosk so I can get some mayonnaise packets and it took almost 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge me I had to come out halfway into the back of their restaurant for anyone to even notice me. The employee was present but this McDonald's is part of the broken McFlurry machine joke I watched six customers walk in and walk out when they found out they didn't have ice cream of any kind. Very impersonal experience and I didn't feel like I was in a McDonald's period getting ready to leave I noticed two employees standing on the line where they were making food eating fries and then wiping their hands on their pants got their phones out and then started making food again, no hand washing I won't be returning here especially now that I've noticed in person how they operate. If the employees want 20 bucks an hour they they should stop working like five bucks an hour

Tried going through the drive-through yesterday, sitting for about 15 minutes without service. Everyone in line, along with myself, eventually pulled away and went inside. They don’t seem to be able to get the orders correct no matter how many times you clarify the order. I’ve had to go back and have them correct my order multiple times and even then they still can’t get it correct on the third attempt. Recommend all customers that enjoy McDonald’s food to bypass this location and go to the location on Milwaukee Street.

I ordered a Mc crispy spicy deluxe. I received a dry bun and a piece of chicken and two pickles. Whatever that is on the menu? I drive back to correct this and I receive a McChicken spicy deluxe… but instead of having the correct sauce on it, I have mayo. This has happened to me multiple times and I don’t think the person making the food understands what the differences between the variations of the McCrispy and its ingredients.

I recommend everyone checking their order before they pull away from the window or leave from the counter. Especially those of you that have food allergies… you pay money for food you expect it to be at least somewhat close, right?

Will never be going back to this location again. It seems they've hired a bunch of disrespectful children. When I got to the drive thru speaker, one person asked what my order was, then the other person said to wait. They were talking to each other over the speaker and it was hard to understand what they were saying. When I was finally able to give them my mobile order code, they just gave me silence. Usually, when you order, they confirm that the order is placed and tell you which window to go to. I got nothing, absolute silence. So I asked "am I good to go around?" About ten seconds later, a disrespectful teenage girl decided to shout "GO AROUNNNND!" like a childish brat. When I got to the window, I complained to whoever it was that gave me my order, but they didn't really seem to care. The other teenage boy on a headset was laughing about it. Apparently they just hire anyone with a pulse at this location.

If I could negative numbers I would. I just pulled up to order and no one answered for a good 2 minutes. I drove by the window to see what was up and there was a guy drinking a Fanta with his AirPods in. How is it possible to not take orders at a drive through? Another employee walked by my car, on his way towards the dumpsters, laughing. I’m glad not taking orders is funny to them. Unfortunately this location is not sweet like Fanta. Avoid at all costs.

I have never been treated so bad. Went to this McDonald’s after visiting the zoo with my grandsons and went to the drive up. When they asked for my order I said first I’m having trouble bringing up the code from their app as typically the first thing they ask is will you be using our mobile app today. Well the person taking the order says oh too bad your apps not working boohoo. Seriously. He just kept making fun about the app not working. No sorry for the inconvenience, just sarcasm. Needless to say I did not order. I did Drive back around and went inside to ask for the manager and after he initially ignored me he asked to take my order and I said I would like to talk with the manager and he said he was the manager but then seemed to pretend all of as sudden to not under stand much English so well. I asked the employee who was handing out food at the drive thru if this guy who apparently mocked me at the drive through was truly the manager he just looked at me and indicated yeah. Well if this is how they treat folks I would warn folks away from this store. Very sad to see a McDonalds that one had to drive a mile and a half off the highway for not worth it! Only giving it stars so it will publish really need a minus 5 stars on this one.

EDIT 8/3/2023: I have had repeated bad experiences with this location in the past (mostly poor service time). HOWEVER, based on several experiences in July, it appears that this restaurant has figured out hot address those issues and now functions as quickly as most McDonalds locations.

I've been going to this one for a while because it's the closest, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Drive-Thru staff frequently ignores one or both lanes, often taking multiple orders from one lane before even acknowledging the other one. Seems to have a ton of training issues. (EDIT 3/12/2023 summary: A horrendous wait for service)

Normally I wouldn't bother reviewing a McDonald's, but I was surprised by how filthy their order kiosk screens were this morning. I like using the kiosk so my order is correct, but these touch screens looked like they'd never been cleaned. Not what you want to be touching before you have a meal. Oddly, the rest of the place was very clean, including the bathrooms.
Food and service is what you'd expect for a McDonald's. This location can get very busy at lunchtime.

The Lady Michele was very nice taking orders, getting food ready, and greeting us with a smile. She didn't know the sandwich was burnt and tasted burnt. Could even taste the syrup taste the bun is suppose to have. Meat was cool. Hash browns weren't hot either. On my way to work or I would've had it done over. Frappe Machine is always down.

i don’t think i’ve ever gotten nice service from this mcdonald’s, everyone is always rude. i got charged extra for caramel in my frappe and they didn’t put any and got mad at ME for asking why there isn’t caramel, i had to pay ANOTHER 30 cents because of them, they said they’re not remaking it even though the issue was on them. i was polite the whole time but they all seem like they hate their job, i work in fast foood so i understand customer service, but their attitude towards small problems is absolutely disgusting, wouldn’t recommend if you want good customer service or want your order right.

Absolutely the most rude and uninterested staff. Employees joke around with each other while customers wait. Half the menu boards are broken. No one came to help me despite three people shouting Spanish at each other 12 feet away. When someone did come to help he interrupted me and walked away. I left. asked for 2 mc chickens with cheese, received 2 COLD mc chickens no cheese and waited for those mc chickens in the drive through for over an hour, employees Threatened to call the police. The employees are eating ice cream in the drive thru windows and laughing at the fact that they over priced and made mistakes on the 2 simple mc chickens. Manager was horrible, very rude, demanded to take the mc chickens back to cook them for another customer. Mc chickens were re cooked from someone else (had a press on the buns, buns were burnt.) Had a seperate order with a cheese burger and that was also given cold. i would give this 0 stars if i could, IMMEDIATELY shut this location down.
