Cafe Coffee shop Ice cream shop RestaurantDescription
Located on the first floor of the historic McFarland House, the cafe has been in operation since 2009. We offer locally roasted coffee from Rusty Dog, JBC, and Just Coffee as well as espresso drinks. We also serve eight flavors of ice cream from Chocolate Shoppe and a variety of shakes and sundaes. Our menu also includes organic salads, wraps, sandwiches and paninis. Breakfast sandwiches, burritos and scrambles are local favorites and great if you are on the go! In addition to coffee, we have an awesome selection of non-alcoholic drinks, Nessallla Kombucha, smoothies, red and white wines, and local craft beer on tap.

Delicious food, drinks, and treats. I like the lavender lemonade and my dog likes the dog biscuits. The sandwiches I've had here are also very good. The curry chicken salad sandwich is a 10/10
Good location in the middle of McFarland. There's street parking. There's also plenty of bike racks being as the cafe is near some bike trails.

Cozy coffee shop in the historic downtown part of McFarland. The old McFarland House building takes you back to simpler times and a small town feel and the outdoor seating was wonderfully shaded with a cooling breeze on this hot morning. Oh, and the coffee was delicious too and reasonably priced. Good atmosphere and good coffee.

Super cute and quaint coffee house in McFarland with a good selection of quality coffee and espresso drinks as well food (sandwiches and baked goods). They also had an interesting selection of gifts and small hand made crafts. Very fun for a small downtown area.

Adorable cafe in an old house in the center of McFarland. Great coffee and baked goods. Good breakfast sandwiches with local ingredients. Enclosed patio under the trees for outdoor dining in the warmer months. Family owned. There is also an ice-cream spot and arcade in the building behind (same family) that’s a wonderful spot for kids and their adults.

You will not be disappointed. We were actually staying in the Airbnb on the third floor, but ate every morning in the café. The farmers sandwich is out of this world, as well as their burritos. And my gingerbread latte never disappointed. Fast, Fresh, and friendly ❤️

I chose here because it was dog friendly. If you bring your dog and they're not comfy with laying on gravel, is recommend bringing a mat. I brought a thin blanket and it was enough. My pup was uncomfy. Also, I'd recommend bringing your own water bowl as the ones I saw were available were either tossed in the gravel or dirt face down or face up but with the rain water from days ago and the water was orangy. Bringing back up doesn't hurt (I did). Having an outdoor patio that is dog friendly is great, especially here. The tree cover at noon was perfect shade for us. The chairs and comfortable metal and the table tops are manageable for plates. I hate wobbly plates.
There are two buildings, one that is the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream building and the other is the coffee and food house. You order your food at the counter and they'll bring the food to you. I was able to ask for something to drink off the menu, I had asked the chocolate shoppe to make a vanilla milkshake but about 4 oz less and asked for the coffee shop for 2 shots of espresso (note: one shot is enough and in some towns it's called a White Shark). The coffee shop walked over the espresso and poured it into the shake for me.
After getting drinks and sitting down my hubby and pup, we were comfortable enough in 84 degree weather sitting in the shade and settling in when our food was brought out about 5 minutes later. I had the Blueberry Toast and my husband had Summers' Scramble. Both were quite delightful and enough to fill out bellies. The shake made the brunch too much but I'll walk it off. Both were very tasty and my husband's latte was very tasty. The service was top notch, very understanding for ordering off the menu, they had gifts in both buildings and bring you salt and pepper upon request. I would recommend coming here with the pup as long as you are more than just your pup and you. Without the dog, stay inside and enjoy the people watching. Lots of windows and as long as it's not too hot inside, it's nice inside. Good food, good coffee (brought home a bag of espresso beans), and great service.

Great food, I had the spicy chorizo eggs and my wife had the blueberry toast. Both were delicious with fresh avocado on the eggs. Good coffee also. They had a string band playing bluegrass in the back yard too! Only drawback is they appear a little understaffed for the amount of tables available.

Stopped in for a latte. It was very good...rich coffee flavor, not overly bitter, with a smooth consistency. I generally skip syrups, but for those who like the added flavor, they use high quality 1883 Maison Routin syrups. I'll have to stop in again sometime to try the food. Everything looks good.

I come here often and enjoyed the place but we experienced really bad customer service this weekend when we asked to redo a drink. It was a misunderstanding that could have been easily resolved but instead they got an attitude, charged a whole new drink instead of recovering their mistake or misunderstanding. Awful service. Will probably not comeback and ask friends to stop coming as well

I frequent the house cafe often, about 2-4 times a week! They have specials every day, have a friendly atmosphere, staff that care, and regulars who mingle and make friendly communication, so you know it's a comfy place to be! They take large orders (i overheard a large party pastry order once), just give advance notice, of course. They have kombucha and beer on tap, specialty coffee drinks, and feature handmade items from local artists on the middle table inside. There's seating inside and out in the back courtyard, two bathrooms, and it's always clean and tidy.

I have been here three times and ordered three different coffees; all three were 4-8X as expensive as a large McDonald’s coffee while being SIGNIFICANTLY worse.
The food is the only somewhat saving grace of this establishment but even that takes twice as long as it should to prepare, even when ordered ahead of time online, while also being overpriced.
It’s crazy to me that once I ordered a straight 12oz black coffee and had my food coke out first.
The only reason to go here is if you enjoy wasting your money and time

I’ve been coming here for awhile because I would rather support local vs a big chain like Starbucks. However today was my last straw. Since I’ve started coming here the coffee is a hit or miss depending on who is making the coffee. It’s actually gotten to the point I will walk out and come back a different day depending on the person. Today I made an honest mistake and didn’t realize I didn’t order iced coffee instead of being reasonable and offering a discount of replacing it I paid another $6. Like I said I’ve been coming here for awhile and have never complained. I even give over 20% on each transaction. I felt like this should’ve been handled very differently and will leave me going back to Starbucks.

I simply *love* this place! i can't believe I have never got around to writing a review!
This is the cutest, homey place - an old home turned coffee and sandwich shop. Homey is the key word! It's nothing fancy or super trendy - but that's not a bad thing! It's cozy.
They offer wonderful coffee, coffee drinks and teas (among other beverages). They are made with love and quite tasty!
Their food. This is wear the 5-stars are WELL deserved! Let me start with breakfast. Their breakfast sandwiches are AMAZING. They are made with yummy sauces, local cheeses, meats. You can taste the quality that goes into them. I am gluten free, and they accommodate that as well. Love that they can make the sandwiches and paninis easily with GF bread! My absolute FAVORITE?! The chorizo and sweet potato hash. Holy cow. There are no words for how amazing this is! It's so so so good that I had to learn how to recreate this amazingness at home (we moved 2+ hours away). The combination of sweet potatoes, chorizo, egg, onion and red peppers is a party in my mouth. Cannot recommend this menu item enough!!!
Their lunch sandwiches are also SO good. Similar to what I say about breakfast - quality and local ingredients you can taste.
They make everything to order, so don't expect your food to be ready in a few minutes. It does take time! But it's worth it.
They also offer ice cream and some pasties!

I had a lovely surprise at this cafe. The egg dish with trout was fantastic. I stopped in for a drink and snack, but ended up with a unique and tasty dish. Not many choices for coffee shops in McFarland so McFarland house it is. I usually go for espresso drinks; their brewed coffee is kinda eh. Breakfast choices are ok, scrambles are a little pricey. Breakfast sandwiches are better. I enjoy their lunches more like the meatloaf sandwich and curry soup (when available).

I used to love this place, and would have gladly given it 5 stars in the past. Sadly, I've come away disappointed far more than happy in recent weeks. I order my coffee extra hot, it's been warm at best the last several times I got it. I order online for curbside on a regular basis. I'm usually quoted 15 minutes for coffee. Today, it took 25, as I was put last in line while people who didn't order ahead had orders made for them. The food is delicious, I only wish I could get more than half my soup cup filled (they used to come full) and receive the plastic wear I pay extra for. I've been sad to see how many businesses have let their customer service tank during Covid. I feel like this has been another to do so.
