Two of us came in at 530 on a Saturday night for steak sandwiches. The place was packed. I guess there was a game that had just ended at the high school across the street. It took awhile for a waitress to get to us, but we could see they were slammed so we didn't mind. And it was totally worth the wait. Gaby was friendly and professional, didn't look one bit frazzled. She chuckled when I told her we were sorry for her having to deal with the madness but she never missed a beat. Food was good, Gaby was great and we'll be back!

Had a pretty unpleasant experience all around. There were servers playing bar slots instead of doing their job. Tables had to order from the bar. Several dirty tables around that had not been cleaned up. One of our drinks was made wrong. Food was just mediocre bar food and took long. It was super hot inside for no reason. Dark and dingy in the eating area, and could smell smoke and weed.

As usual let's go down the list.
Atmosphere:This is a nice little bar in the lake country of Wisconsin and honestly what it has to offer is not substantially different than most of your Wisconsin bars. Full rail of the standard liquor and about eight taps and fridges full of most of the top name brand beers. They're at least four or five digital slot machines and two pull tab machines. A whole room in the back that's enclosed for smoking during the winter. An ATM and a dart board.
Service: It is a mixed combination that still holds to what you would experience in most places in the state. Bartending staff lean towards catering to the regulars and if your reasonably patient They do not ignore you. There's a couple of different servers that will go around and take care of the tables until later on in the night. If you come more than a few times the staff will remember you and your drink.
Food: You will honestly be surprised by the food. Many places brag about their food but this is one that definitely caught me off guard with the quality. Do not expect extravagant high fine dining but it has good flavor and is consistently cooked just right according to the standards for that type of food. Pay attention to their specials because they actually are pretty good deals (the chicken and steaks are hearty)
Typically if I have a few beers and a meal I will run around $20-30 on a tab ($10-17 meal; price varies with the beers). Additionally, they do thin crust made to order pizzas after the kitchen closes until early morning (not the pre made and packaged stuff; and just call ahead to check stuff since sometimes if it's super slow they might close or... As happened a few months ago a new kid accidentally turned the pizza oven off)
There are minimal vegetarian options such as a few different salads and they've had some mushroom appetizers.

This is a place with devoted regulars but they are simultaneously welcoming especially if you come semi-regularly. It does have the usual bingo night and karaoke night during the week.

Tonight went in with 4 people. Only a bartender was working. A few tables bar was busy but there were open seats at the bar. Bartender helped several people and told us he would be right with us three times. 15 minutes later, still hadn't ordered and tge bartender has served several new people at the bar and vhanged the TVs and was looking at his phone. We left w/o getting water or placing an order. Bartender saw us leave said he was sorry . They have good food but not very good service.

Grew up in Wales, and watched the transition from The Ponderosa Bar, to Max's Place, to Rusty Blade, over to Finn's, and now Mad Dog Saloon. Living in Arizona, I also played softball for Mad Dog Saloon in Mesa, which now appears to be the new place in Wales, or for all technicality, Delafield. Anyways..........

Was supposed to meet friends for a fish fry at a restaurant in Waukesha, but by the time we got there, the place was packed, and there was no parking. We decided to try Mad Dog Saloon, but were a little hesitant, as we didn't have very good results with the past "Finn's" fish fry's.

Pulled up into the large parking lot and found a place right away. Walked inside and the bar was filled - not a good sign - probably have to wait a while. But, here is the cheat code for Mad Dog Saloon's fish fry - Walk into the back area where all the tables are, and get seated immediately, which is what we did. Within a minute, our waitress Amber had our drink order, and fish fry order. Lots to choose from, with the fry types, coleslaw or potato salad, etc. so you can customize your meal the way you want it.

Less than a 10 minute wait, our food was delivered to the table. Not only was everything served hot, the food was outstanding. I realize there are a lot of places to get fish fry's in Wisconsin, but Mad Dog Saloon nailed this one. Our waitress was on top of the order, and was hustling around the whole area, going from the dining area, to the kitchen to the bar. She also had time to check on our table to make sure everything was good, and for refills - Amber was the best!

Great hot food at a nice price, outstanding service, and a great Wisconsin atmosphere. Cant go wrong with Mad Dog Saloon's fish fry's!

First time there. Food was great (fish) and bartender was very attentive during a busy fish fry night. She noticed i took out the lime from my drink and didn't give me limes anymore. Didn't have to ask what I was drinking when ordering drink #2.
Food came out quick. That's a good bartender! She earned the $20 tip for our $60 tab. Great job!

I was excited to try this place since I moved in across the street, so the dude and I went over on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. I am totally cool with a dive bar feel, even if my fleet stick to the floor a little bit.. What I am not cool with is walking in and acknowledging the bartender (who was drinking and chatting with what must have been the regulars), getting nodded at and then ignored for 30 min.. She even walked in the back dining room to check on the regulars at the gambling machine! 🤣 That being said, confrontation was not my game that day, so we just sat and placed a pizza pickup order from somewhere else and left. Not sure if we'll go back. Damn shame

I stopped in yet again to try a special the Thursday wings 9/19/24. It was busy I get that, but the bartender (heavy set Mexican girl with tat sleeves) should NOT be bartending. She ignored me, walked past me 3 or 4 times. Last time I was there she was a bad bartender even when it was not crowded, she cant do 2 things at once and has a poor personality as well. Finally Sarah took my order ( awesome bar tender ) I got wings and fry's. The wings were nasty, hard and over cooked or old? The fry's were not fully cooked and this is the 3rd time I've had fry's not fully cooked. The last visit was for build your own burger which was bad too, my burger was hard as a rock and looked and tasted like a hockey puck. The bartender who took my burger order (the heavy set tattooed mexican girl) never bothered to ask how I want my hamburger done and my fry's were not cooked and nasty. It seems to me that you have a bad cook or multiple BAD COOKS? Maybe try harder to get better cooks because the problems I have had seem to be very similar to other complains and poor reviews.

After a long day out and about to one festival or another we decided to give MDS a try as we gave up on Finn’s a while back. About 15 people in there, but we greeted pleasantly and given almost immediate attention. Kourtney was not only great to chat with, but she gave extra attention to my son who is Autistic and that goes a long way with me. Food came at an expected speed and was very nicely plated as well as tasty. My son can be picky when it come to sensory and he said everything was great except the chicken in his salad was dry. This is the only reason I gave a 4 instead of 5 stars. Overall, great place with good atmosphere and food. We will return.

We ordered the fish fry for the first time tonight and it will, for sure, be the last!

We ordered one fried fish&shrimp combo and one baked fish&shrimp combo. The food tasted horrible! The flavor of everything is extremely unbalanced and unenjoyable except for the potato pancakes. My baked fish was fishy tasting as heck! Tasted more like tuna instead of poorman's lobster. The combo came with 1 piece of fish and 4 shrimp for $15.30 plus take out box fee. The addition of the sides does not make-up for the lack of main dish in both quality and quantity. Like I said, the only thing that was good was the potato pancakes and applesauce and the size of the shrimp, not necessarily the taste because the cocktail sauce had a bunch of black pepper in it. I'm all for innovation and creativity but that was not good. The fried fish combo came with 2 pieces of fish but they were small. Anyway, extremely disappointed.

Was there for the first time for a Friday Fish fry and the fish was good. The drinks were rather expensive I ordered a whiskey old fashion sour. Rail whiskey. Pre mixed cheap old fashion mix and sour soda. In a tub. 12 oz at most. $ 7.39. Unheard of. My partner ordered gin and tonic. (Bombay)tall. Mind you this is more expensive than a 5 dollar rail bottle of whiskey and his was 6 dollars for a tall. Unbelievable. We own a bar and would never charge 7.39 for a rail single. I'm trying to get a grip on the prices. The bartender Courtney was half in the bag. Tending to the regular customers shaking dice doing lots of shots and stumbling her way through a Friday. Loud drunks playing the bartender. Not a good impression for first time impression. Drinks were more than dinner. We heard Finns was under new owners and we gave it a try. There's plenty of other restaurants that will not gouge your eyes out on a non muddled old fashion. Very disappointing.

People's rating systems are broke for this establishment. When you say nothing but good things and leave a 2-4 star rating you do not help the establishment improve. Leave some constructive criticism. Or leave constructive criticism and give them a chance to correct it. 2 star rating because you can't get a beer as fast as you'd like in Memorial Day is a terrible review.

Most of the 2-star reviews are silly. Staffing appears to have been an issue. Has everyone forgot everyone has issues staffing for busy crowds these days? Stop leaving trash reviews because you can't get a drink when the place is packed or because the bartender didn't smile for you.

I came on wing night. Was served immediately and often. Staff was friendly. Patio seating was very nice. No real complaints here.

Cheese curds were good. Drinks were good. Wings (Old Bay Dry Rub and Thai Chili) had really good flavor, but the wings weren't as hot/warm (temperature) as I would have expected. But I also won't leave a 2-star review because of it.

Curds, 4 tall singles, 10 wings on wing night came out to $39.50 before tip. Staff was great. Tipped 39% just because of the reviews being left, I know the wait staff has been shortchanged in the past.
