When this place opened, I was thrilled! I have celiac disease and am reluctant to eat outmost of the time. I was assured about their separate food preparation areas. Each meal I had up until a few months ago was great. This summer I got violently sick after a lunch. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt since up until then everything had been fine. Yesterday I was there for lunch. The gluten free shrimp was rubbery and cold. The fries were soggy. And I was again violently sick afterwards.

Great food! Enjoyed the week's drink special, pumpkin spice martini. I have liked many items on the menu, and I think the best value are the salads with a protein on top. My favorite is the bruschetta salad with salmon. The salmon fillet was large and perfectly cooked. We come here to celebrate and enjoy the food and the service.
Returned in September 2025, still love the relaxing ambiance and the great food. This time ordered the Maui wowi flatbread pizza - YUM! The Hawaiian pizza with added jalapenos and more brought out the flavors in a spectacular way. The desserts are amazing. Our table ordered the apple dumpling with ice cream, so good it's hard to share, and the dessert lasagna with peanut butter and chocolate, which was so good one of our party licked the plate clean. Still highly recommend Meade Street Bistro.

PAINFULLY slow service. Two of us stopped in at 1p on a Tuesday for lunch. Ordered 2 salads. One other table of two were waiting for food at the same time. Took 45 minutes FOR SALAD! We went there on a Friday night for a date night and was very excited about the possibilities of vegetarian food and different meat varieties for my husband. We got there early and were the third table to sit down, but unfortunately, we were about the 10th table to get served our meal which was sitting under the heat lamp for quite some time. They were out of many items on the menu such as walleye, scallops, baked potatoes, and bistro fries. They were serving frozen french fries but unfortunately, they were out of ketchup also. It was a big disappointment because we looked forward to trying this restaurant that catered to both myself who is a vegetarian and my husband who is a meat eater. It took over an hour for our food and our drinks also took about 20 minutes. Completely disappointed.

We were in town for the Oshkosh aviation Air show and we were looking for an alternative lunch venue while in the Appleton area and we came across the Mead Street bistro. The owner Sony, certainly gives new meaning to a family-owned restaurant and I almost felt like we were related by the time we were seated and had our menus. Lovely atmosphere tastefully done and has a nice cool feeling on a hot summer day. We had the lunch special which comprised of their flatbed pizza, soup and salad bar and the price wasl certainly ftawesome for two of us for lunch. The flatbread pizza was especially good and it didn't go to waste the next morning for breakfast.!. Both Sony and her husband worked the floor and kitchen and their enthusiasm certainly was noticeable. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

I have traveled all over the world and eaten at many fine dining spots. This is a hidden gem it's warm and welcoming and the food is positively scrumptious. An even bigger gem however is the owner. Her name is Sony and she is the sweetest most caring soul you will ever meet. She genuinely cares about every person who walks in the door and you can expect to see her there smiling and chit chatting with the guests. The portion sizes here are extremely generous and the service is amazing. A must visit

What a lunch! I was starving, but wanted to just get a quick bite. I drove aimlessly looking for something that looked "quaint". Stumbled upon Meade Street. SO happy I did. My flatbread came with a soup and a salad bar. The soup?! Are you KIDDING me!?! Amazing tomato (my least favorite flavor, mind you) soup! Amazeballs!

Then I had a fantastic sausage, mushroom, and onion flatbread. I did NOT want to eat this much. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your view), there was no way I was leaving a morsel on the plate!

And Serena couldn't have been nicer. I was helped by another young lady as well. Both ladies, very pleasant. I'll be back!

I am bummed that our takeout experience wasn’t as good as I was anticipating. We ordered a charcuterie board, fish tacos, and the perch for a Friday night. Unfortunately the charcuterie board had mainly balogna as the meat, with some salami as well. For a pricey charcuterie board, I had my hopes up a bit higher than that. The perch my husband got was fried with the skin still on, and he had to take it off while he was eating it. I did think the fish tacos were pretty good, but the negatives definitely outweighed the pros for this experience. Hopefully they will consider making some food quality changes in the future to match their price levels.

We went in yesterday afternoon ish and everything was wonderful. The owner was there by herself (besides the cook) and took care of us on top of doing all her other duties. The potato soup, which i learned is a family recipe, was one of the best potato soups I've had around town. Was so delicious. We were also lucky enough to come in when they had the "turtle lush" which was absolutely divine. Will definitely be back to try out some other things on the menu.

I'll start by saying that everyone was very friendly. Unfortunately, the service could not have been slower. Our party of 8 had 6:15 reservations. We didn't think we'd need to tell them we had another engagement at 8pm just around the corner, however, by 7:15 we still hadn't received our appetizers, let alone ordered second drinks. Once we notified our server they expedited our orders. Unfortunately the last entree came out at 7:57pm. 1/2 our party had to take their entire meal in takeout boxes while the other half had to inhale theirs. Most of us still never ordered 2nd drinks, after 2 hours. They explained that they had a party of 20 in the back, but unless 1/2 the staff called in, all of this is something you should be able to plan for. Our server & the kitchen runner were very nice & our meal was heavily discounted, which was all appreciated. It was just a very disappointing evening. From what I remember my chicken Caesar salad & the sampler appetizer were both good, but they had to be consumed very quickly.

I was in Meade Street Bistro yesterday and I was pleased to be greeted and taken care of by Sony, the restaurant owner. I ordered a small dish of cheese curds and a house salad, paid 18 dollars for the meal. It was a fair price for the amount of curds I got and the size of the salad with all different kinds of veggies included. The curds were lightly breaded and delicious, my mouth waters just thinking about the dish. I asked for the salad dressing on the side and there was no issues with the request. Overall I would recommend this place for friend meet ups and for the great service I received.

Met friends for dinner on a Thursday night. The place was packed-I thought that was a good sign and I’d heard good things about the place. The food took a long time to get to our table, I’d say 30-45 minutes. I ordered fish tacos and got BBQ pulled pork that was like a garnish on top of some vegetables within the tacos- no fish. I’m not one to send food back, I hate wasting food, so I kept the tacos and ate them. It was so strange. We saw another order of “fish “ tacos come out of the kitchen, but they were clearly pork too. About 30 minutes later we saw another order of fish tacos go by but this time it was fish! I saw one more order of fish tacos come by and it was fish too. I never said anything, but will not be back. Recent reviews I looked at afterwards have been bad with similar experiences. Too bad, the fish tacos really looked good!

The day I went there with my wife, there were only 4 other tables being served. Total 2 per table. So not busy at all.

Food took 40 mins. Cold fries likely reheated. Pasta was just blah.

Place is overpriced for what they provide.

An ladie which I assume is the owner and few younger ladies helping to take orders, yet I had to get out of my table to go to the bar and ask a refill.

Wow! The potato soup was the best I had hands down. Chocolate old fashion beat off the competition at many other high dining establishments I’ve been at. Let me start by saying the people were very friendly and kind but the food was BAD. The bistro potatoes had 0 flavor, the baked potatoe tasted like paste and like it was warmed up from the day before, the shrimp was so overcooked that we spit it out, the perch and haddock were greasey and bland. The coleslaw was also NOT good. The mac and cheese served to us was Kraft. It's a shame because the atmosphere was pleasing and staff wanted us to feel comfortable the food was just awful.

I have patronized this restaurant at least 8-10 times, and have watched the quality of experience diminish over time. My last visit was about 8-10 weeks ago where i was served a Beef Brisket that was similar to chewing on an old rubber tire.

OK.. so let's give it another chance. Tonight they were not overly busy so I ordered Beef Stroganoff and when asked I agreed to the House salad with Blue Cheese dressing. When the meal was served, I was presented with a "Caeser Salad" which I ate despite not being what I ordered.

When my entree was presented, I was served a steak which looked nice but NOT WHAT I ORDERED. I shared this with a staff member, and it was returned to the kitchen. After another 10 minutes I was presented with my ordered entree, "Beef Stroganoff" where I was warned to be careful as it was hot.... it was not. It was barely warm and could be consumed immediately. It was more of a Beef and Noodle soup with no real cream apparent in the recipe. Not hot enough... Not creamy enough... Underwhelmed for sure!

It was apparent to the staff that I was not happy as I left my dish half eaten, where the provided a 25% discount. Unnecessary as I will not be returning. The wait staff although extremely young and well meaning are also very under trained - this is part of the problem. Sad and difficult to observe this poor service as a fellow small business owner.

I really really want to like this place. After a prior bad experience I decided to try it again. A Friday fish fry is almost hard to get wrong. Ordered breaded haddock with fries, and pan fried walleye and asked to sub fries for the fingerling potatoes the kind young lady taking the order said yes no problem. After a half hour wait I go pick up my food and get it home only a few blocks away. When walking up to the bar to get my order an older short lady( I'm assuming she's the manager) who had oh so clearly had several cocktails already at only 5pm tried to wrap her arm around me and asked what my name was for my order. After 2 tries at my name and a few slurry words the young bartender stepped in and corrected her clearly annoyed she then walked away from me and barked my name 2 or 3 times saying i was here for my order. When i got home the haddock was perfect crisp and tasted great. Fries were on the soggy side. The walleye on the other hand was soggy and I'm fairly confident it was warmed in a microwave. Fries what fries.... fingerling potatoes.... nope didn't even get the meal correct per their menu... it was on roasted red pepper risotto and broccoli.... the sides for their salmon plate. The risotto was cold and had terrible color and texture almost as if it was reheated. So I packed the food back up and went back to the restaurant. While walking in the host made eye contact with me, when he saw the carry out box in my hand he went the other direction. After standing at the bar with my food box waiting for someone to help me some younger kid walks over and asks if he can help me. I explained it was incorrect and I formed them that this is the 3rd bad experience I've had here and I will not be returning. Not a single person said anything to me they all stood there so after a brief moment I turned around and walked out without an apology, without a refund, without a meal to eat. I absolutely will never go back and I will never recommend them to anyone.

I really love the fact that when I eat here the gluten free dishes will not be lacking in taste. The desserts... Good lord SAVE ROOM, you do not want to skip dessert. This is my go to place for a steak sandwich. However, I guess the only way to eat here is dine in. Every time we order take out from this place, they make mistakes or forget to do something that we ask for. 3 of the 4 times we have gotten take out, we have either gotten our money back (three times) or had to just deal with it. The one time I checked my food before leaving, it was actually correct. Make me sad due to we like to get food and take it home and this is another place I have to scratch off our list for take out.

Meade Street Bistro is a hidden gem!! Don't let the strip mall location fool you, this is a lovely spot, with a beautiful (full) bar and a private room. There is a lot of room for a larger gathering, but the space feels cozy. I was especially thrilled to learn that they have a dedicated vegetarian/vegan menu! This is in addition to their large "normal" menu with tons of options for an omni eater. My cauliflower tacos were amazing, and my husband had a fish version that he loved as well. I'll be back here, next time with my book club group!

Wow.. The absolute best gluten free fish fry I’ve ever had. They’re gonna update their menu, but they have a dedicated gluten free fryer for perch and haddock ahead their fried potatoes. Every part of the experience here was awesome. From the friendly owners, the ambiance and cool, but cozy decor, to the incredible food. Every dish was amazing and the menu is diverse. The chef accidentally forgot the dairy-free cheese for me on the pizza, and they happily (and very quickly) made up another one and told my husband to take the other home. I highly recommend this place! We will be back again and again.

Can't really rate this place at all on anything when you don't get even greeted at the table after sitting for 10+minutes. Mind you wasn't busy at all and 2 other tables a 4 top and 2 top came in 5 minutes after us and immediately had service and drinks. We were a 4 top in the middle of the restaurant with both bartenders and servers walking past us numerous times. Either the owner or manager seemed to be there but busy on a phone call near the bar by a table. This was at 5:20pm on a Tuesday 2/13 maybe 1/3-1/2 full restaurant and this was our 1st time going 👍

As someone with a severe gluten allergy, it’s so refreshing to find a place that takes gluten free food serious! With a dedicated half of the kitchen solely for gluten free foods! It wasn’t busy, there was no wait to be seated so we were seated immediately but unfortunately the service was terrible. While it’s nice to be waited on by the owner of the restaurant, the utter lack of timely service really put a sour taste in my mouth about the place. I don’t know that I will be going back.

Went with a group of 15 people with reservation. After we ordered, we were told the kitchen is backed up while the restaurant was not full. They comped us with free appetizers.

I ordered the Friday fish fries perch, and it was too bready. I couldn’t taste the fish. Fries were good. Service was mediocre, and the server kept poking my shoulders instead of simply speak to me, which was a bit unusual. She was friendly at least.

Another note apparently Wisconsin does old fashioned differently than most of the world, with many options and questions. Make sure you do your research, or you’ll be in for a surprise!

This was our 2nd visit, our first one was not the best but we thought we would try it again. We arrived on sat evening, there was a nice crowd but a number of open tables. We were seated promptly and greeted by a very nice waitress. We placed a drink order. Drinks were delivered fairly quickly however they weren't the best tasting. We asked about the scallops and the waitress said they are the best, very good, she loves them. So we ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. One entrée came with a side salad. After a few minutes the side salad was served, and then maybe 10 minutes both entrees were brought out. I told the waiter who brought the food (not our waitress) to cancel the apps since we already had our entrée. Our waitress came back with the apps and said the fryer was full so they had to wait to make ours. We noted the apps *wonton mozzarella sticks, we cool, so they didn't just come out of the fryer. Also the Scallops, were not very warm and they were overcooked. Given the cost $36, we were very disappointed with them. The waitress did comp the app, which we appreciated. The service was amazing, the food was disappointing. Because the waitress was very attentive and provided great service, we will consider giving this place one more try. They have been open long enough so the food should be much better than it was.

This location is a hidden gem. Every time I go I'm impressed with the service. My last visit was during lunch where I had the soup and salad bar along with a flatbread pizza made with whatever toppings I liked totaling $17. Everything, even the salad bar, was really good. It's not the cheapest place for a lunch but you get what you pay for. I would not hesitate to go back.

Lunch with my mom, cousin and our two young kids.

We loved the food, ordered a burger, sandwich and flatbread between the three of us. Timing was excellent, not too long to wait for food and not too busy at the time we went around noon on a Weekday.

Service was very attentive, on top of water refills and little extras. Patient with the 1 yo and 11 week old kids. And had a kids menu which is great!

Only withholding a 5th star because the bathrooms should both have a changing table for parents. Spaces with out this are not as welcoming or accessible to a huge portion of the population. This is definitely a factor that we consider when choosing to go out.

Honest review. I have given this place two chances. I ordered the scallops with the risotto. It was so salty I could barely eat it. I tried to eat more so the scallops than the risotto because the amount of salt on the asparagus and soupy risotto was horrible. The menu says that the meal comes with soup or salad, but the waitress was weird about it and said she could tack on the salad bar instead.... As if the menu was wrong or something. She did not tell us the price of the salad bar, and we thought it would be reasonable. For two people the salad bar was almost $22. That's an entire meal and was totally ridiculous for two salads that should have come with the meal per the menu. The pork chop was completely tasteless even though it had a cream sauce on it. We should have been honest with the waitress at the time but it was embarrassing how bad it was. I hope they don't usually put that much salt in their meals and this was a one-time incident. We paid over $100 for a meal that we were very unsatisfied with and mine being unedible because of the salt. I would gladly change my review if I received even a partial payment back, and I could just move on. It's a cute place, but tonight the food was awful.

Service was pleasant but that's about it. My wife and I got the perch plate, bestro fries, cup of corn chowder soup or whatever it's called, and the spinach dip. The perch was really good and so was the tartar sauce. Fries, Im pretty sure mine weren't salted and my wife's got double salted. The corn soup was not that flavorful, had two small chunks of potatoes and 1 kernel of corn with mostly a runny creamy broth. The spinach dip was more of a soup instead of a thick dip, with a lot of "bread chips" that tasted of what reminded me of communion wafer bread. We didn't eat that, and we were able to get that removed from the bill. I really wouldn't recommend going.

I can't believe I have never been here before! I've already called two friends and told them they have to go. Beautiful place. Great seating and parking. Amazing service. I had an Asian Chicken Salad and my daughter had a steak sandwich and fries. We each had to take 1/2 home. Very, very delicious. My daughter even commented how great the fries were. Our server made us feel so welcome and at home. Definitely, not a place to miss.

Jeanette and I just found this very nice restaurant a short time ago. Been here 3 times now with in a couple weeks. Danielle has been our waitress each time and she's amazing. Went there for the second time recently and it will be the last. The first time I went it was newly opened. Service was terrible but I figured they were just getting going and would figure it out. Finally went back again and it was no better than it was years ago. We were seated and brought water then no one came back for at least 15 minutes. The servers all appear to be in high school which is odd for a place with $40 entrees. We had decided to walk out when someone finally took our order. The food was truly mediocre and definitely overpriced. The steak sandwich at $22 was tiny. It came on a cheap supermarket bun with a wilted pickle spear. The sauce and dressings are served in plastic disposable ramekins--for what they are charging they need to do better with the presentation. The salad was just mixed greens--I can get the identical thing at the supermarket why would I pay 10x more? They need to get a more professional wait staff, up the presentation, and lower the prices. But I won't be back to find out if they do.

Called ahead and reserved a table. Hostess seemed really confused and not sure what to do. We were sat relatively quickly. Server came to the table and asked what drinks and food we wanted. I said, "We haven't received any menus yet." She brought our menus and said she'd be back in 5 to 10 minutes to take our order. Hostess came by with 2 waters, there were 4 of us at the table. Server came back and asked what we would like to order. We chose a charcuterie board for an appetizer and some drinks to start. The server then asked about our main course. We said we would like to eat the appetizer and have our drinks, then we would decide what we would order for the meal. She said it would be quicker if we ordered our meals right away? Quicker for who? Our drinks came out and we asked the bartender how his evening was going. He said "He was really tired and it had been busy." And, then we waited about 45 minutes for our appetizer to arrive. My wife, went to the bar to check on it, as we hadn't seen the server. Shortly after, the appetizer arrived. Server then came over to apologize and explain why it took so long. Something about the kitchen being really busy and it wasn't a priority, compared to the meals being prepared? Another group was seated next to us. The server was taking their orders and stepped over to our table to ask us what kind of meats were on the charcuterie, as the other table wanted to order it???
Overall the experience was less than desirable. It appears that training and organization need to be addressed. First and last time attempting to dine here.
I would not recommend.

First time visiting. Started off with one of their signature cocktails; an excellent oak bourbon, cherry liqueur, pomegranate and lemon drink called Flying North ! Would have loved a second but had an hour drive home. Our party of four ordered the avocado burger w/bacon, salmon toast, fish tacos and the Wed special- build your own pizza which included sald bar AND great tomato basil soup !! Everything was superb.
Service was friendly and very attentive. Definitely will return when back in Appleton.

Per usual, the staff are not attentive to those waiting for takeout orders (past experience) or those waiting at the bar for their table to be ready. No offer to take a drink order on either occasion. Once at the table, we waited another 20 minutes for a server to come by. We were never asked how our food was, and I also needed a knife for my meal, but had none. Overall the attentiveness is subpar. My overly priced $35 scallops were drowned in a soup of over cooked veggies. I keep hoping for a better experience, but not happening

We had a very poor experience at Meade Street Bistro. Our party of 4 arrived shortly after 6:15pm on a Friday without having made a reservation and were told there would be a 15 minute wait. We said that was okay and stood to the side of the hostess stand as there is no waiting area. The individuals who I assume are the owners then asked us to wait by the bar.

We stood there for over 30 minutes waiting to be seated, while other parties who arrived after us were seated by staff who walked past us numerous times without making eye contact. A couple eating at the bar leaned over 10 minutes into us standing there saying we have to flag someone down or no one will come ask what we want to drink, and said the food was worth the wait but noted he had to wait a while to get it. After 7pm had passed with no updates given to us, we made the decision to leave, again with no acknowledgment from the owners.

The whole experience made us feel like our patronage wasn't needed or appreciated, and the entire staff was visibly frazzled and disorganized. I would not return.

I had suggested here after having been there in the past with some friends. We had an hour and a half before we needed to leave for other plans, which we thought would be enough time to get seated, eat, and rush out on a Friday night.

We had walked into the restaurant and wer greeted at the front reception. They said about a 15 minute wait, so we waited by the front door. After about a minute they asked us to wait by the bar to free up space at the front, no biggie. We waited, and waited, nobody at the bar asked if we wanted drinks, nobody checked in. We waited a few more minutes, and the staff was frantically working to get everyone helped. In the chaos that ensued we watched as 3 other groups walked in and got seated by someone other than the host we talked to. We waited again thinking maybe they had reservations.

After 30 minutes of not being checked in on or asked anything we had left to go somewhere else. It should not be up to the customer to keep track of were they are in line, or have to speak up. If the wait was longer than 15 minutes than there was a lack of respect for our time with the suggested wait. And lastly, not having a single person ask the group standing in the middle of the restaurant by the bar if there was anything you could do as you are seeing others seated is just blatantly poor service.

This has been crossed off our list of places to go in the Valley.

Don’t let the low rent fool you!

When you first pull into the parking lot for the strip mall that Meade Street Bistro is located in, you think to yourself, how can a really great restaurant be squeeze in between a liquor store and a Papa Murphy’s pizza? There must be some mistake.

Yes, it’s not located in some fancy mixed-use development in downtown Appleton, but when you walk in, you find a simple, but nice, inviting space with a cool green back-lit bar and lighting at just the right level with background music that’s playing not too loud, but just loud enough to cover up background conversations.

Their menu has a modest offering of an eclectic group of items, from pizza, to greens, pasta, seafood and one steak choice. The meat is locally sourced and everything is scratch made. This shows in the quality of the meals.

This was our first time dining here, and we found it simply by combing through Google Maps and seeing other positive reviews. I had the shrimp in fettucine and a butter garlic sauce. Lots and lots of shrimp! My wife had the ahi tuna and it was cooked to perfection. Rare but slightly warm on the inside. We also had a Cesar salad, a simply wonderful green pepper soup, and for desert a fantastic peppermint torte that was made from scratch just like all the other meals. The flavors are amazing and the portions are generous. Excellent bar as well, with some interesting cocktail offerings.

They have a large selection of gluten free and a few vegan options as well if that’s your thing.

We chatted with the Owner and she is a wonderful person (she actually was the one waiting on us). Appleton is lucky to have a wonderful, local, cooked from scratch bistro like this Meade Street Bistro!
