The portion sizes are fantastic, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. Meiji is one of our go to places for sushi and Japanese food! The variety of options assures that everyone can get something that they enjoy! I'm a huge sushi girl and Meiji consistently does well! I visited today for lunch with my aunt and this visit was no exception to the delicious food we are used to getting! Typically when I go for lunch I go for the lunch special that allows you to pick two or three rolls with soup or salad. Yes, those include only basic rolls, but they basic rolls are always yummy! My favorites are the spicy tuna and the yellowtail jalapeno roll. Today I learned that they have additional specials on Mondays and Tuesdays. My aunt got the playboy roll and I chose the Spanish roll and Alaskan roll. The Spanish roll must be new because I've never seen it before - it had spicy tuna, jalapenos and cilantro (I know there was more to it, but I can't remember at the moment what else was in it other than delicious magic). Wow, this may be my new favorite! The Alaskan roll was equally yummy and the fish and vegetables were very fresh and flavorful! The playboy roll had tempura shrimp, avocado and cream cheese topped with tuna and crunchy bits. I tried it because my aunt was so enthusiastic about it and I agree, it was very delicious! Overall we have always been happy with Meiji and will continue to come when we're looking for a solid sushi fix!

Had a reservation for my husband's birthday and were really excited for dinner, because we've been here in the past and really loved it. This time we had a pretty terrible experience. First, I order a coconut mojito and it came out with moldy black mint muddled all throughout the drink, and even on top as a decoration. It was basically undrinkable. Then the hibachi chef came out and was one of the most boring we have seen. He did not seem to like his job much, and did not to try and entertain anyone at the table. Lastly, we were at a table with another group of 4 people, and it was quite evident that everyone in the other group got wayyyy more food on their plates than us. Literally overloaded with rice, noodles, veggies and meat, while my husband and my plates were only half full. I mentioned it to the server and she made up some excuse and didn't offer any resolution. Bottom line is we will not come back. There are a lot of other hibachi restaurants in our area that I am sure can do a better job.

Good Asian food, Sushi was decent, but not the best. Most of the Asian dishes lean towards the Chinese food side. It was just a tad in the pricey side for the quality of what you get. Service was below average. Our server forgot to give us silverware, napkins, a salad, and was barely available. I liked my meal, but my family does not wish to return. After a day of adventure this is a great place to relax and unwind with friends and family. Service was fast, the place is clean and offers somewhat secluded seating and the food is impeccably prepared and presented...just seeing the plates f

I cannot say enough about the food at Meiji. I have had traditional meals like their beef pad thai and have been amazed on their ability to accommodate my taste. I normally order my pad thai extra spicy without peanuts. Every time they exceeded my expectations!
I tend to be a regular as it comes to their sushi. I will typically drive a half an hour to enjoy. They have an incredible team of talented individuals performing works of art in their Sushi creations. I am always in awe just watching true artists at work. I have made it a point to share with my friends that this is one of the Best Sushi restaurants in the area.

We had dinner at this hibachi restaurant last night and overall had a great experience in terms of service and food—the staff was attentive, and everything we ordered was delicious.

However, there was one major issue that unfortunately left us feeling uneasy. On three separate occasions—once at our own table, once at a neighboring table, and once across the room—we observed chefs using the same knife and spatula to handle both raw meat and cooked vegetables without cleaning them in between. In our case, our chef cut raw chicken, then used the same utensils to cut broccoli and flip it into guests’ mouths. The same practice was repeated by two other chefs at different tables.

Cross-contamination like this is a serious food safety concern, and it’s surprising to see it happening so openly and repeatedly. We left feeling disappointed, as this overshadowed what otherwise could have been a great night out. Unfortunately, it’s made us hesitant to return unless we knew this issue had been addressed.

I wish I would have read these reviews first. But have enjoyed lunch here several times.
Brought my wife for the first time and she ordered the Walnut Shrimp. Only problem was they subbed out the walnuts with pecans and she hates pecans. When we brought it to servers attention she laughed it off and looked it up on her phone and said something about translating but spoke perfect English.
She then said she thinks they're walnuts but dont look like walnuts. Lol... they were pecans for sure...
My food also NOT good tonight. Ordered a spicy chili chicken dish and it literally had more dried chilis than chicken.
Crab Rangoon absolutely had no crab meat at all. Waste of time and I feel bad I brought my wife there.

We went strictly for the hibachi and weren’t disappointed. We made reservations and we were seated right away. Our server was really quick and friendly. They were very accommodating - letting us substitute the mushroom soup for miso. The presentation of the hibachi was fantastic and had us laughing and having a great time the entire time. Really so much fun!

The entrance and interior are a little tired looking and could use a refresh - we were actually a little nervous when we first arrived, judging by the decor that it wasn’t going to be good. Don’t let that fool you, because the hibachi was delicious and so much fun.

I am a big hibachi and sushi fan. Unfortunately this area does not really have any of that worth writing home about, until you try Meiji! By far the best spot in the Milwaukee area. The customer service is spectacular, the food is consistently great and the atmosphere is awesome. Whether it be a business lunch or romantic dinner this place fits the bill! The regular bartender is fast, accurate and nice as can be! It doesn't matter if you are the only one there or the bar is packed, she will stay ahead of your needs! Their takeout is just as good. Only once out of the 3-4 dozen orders I've had was there a mistake. All in all, I highly recommend making this your next lunch/dinner plan. You will not regret it!

I wish I could give this place lower than a 1 star. We order from here all the time but probably will have to find a new place to order our sushi and Chinese food from. The past three times I’ve ordered from here we have got either the wrong food or missing food. Each time I call to ask for assistance I get replied with attitude and very pore customer service. As someone who works in customer service, 99% of the time the customer is right but at this establishment we never seem to be right. Once again tonight I went to pick up my food and when I got there I checked my bag and shockingly it was the wrong food, so then I tell them this and they wouldn’t give me what I ordered, saying that bag is what I ordered and wouldn’t even give me a refund. I can not speak to how the dine in service is. But if you order take out. Be sure to call and do not use their online ordering site. I never received any form of confirmation, and after 35 minutes, I decided to call and see if they even received my order. Turns out it had been ready for a while but never received an email or text. I picked up my food, and when I got back to my hotel 5 minutes later, it was unsurprisingly little warmer than room temperature. I received white rice instead of the fried rice I paid extra for, but I didn't feel like going back to get it replaced, so I just dealt with it.
The two rolls I ordered were really good and had very large chunks of salmon and tuna in them. Much more than most places would use.

Ordered 2 dishes at medium spice but they tasted as zero spice. Pad Thai overall tasted good after adding Sriracha, but the beef quality was not great. I celebrated my birthday at Meiji and thanks to the bartender Emma it was a wonderful experience. The drinks were delicious and Emma was extremely friendly and engaging. The food here is delicious! I have never been disappointed by the quality, amount, or presentation of the food. The only issue I have here is the service. At the beginning of your meal, they are very attentive, but when you get to the end, your server seems to disappear for long stretches of time. Spent far too much money for weird service and mediocre food. So disappointed. We were looking forward to it and were really surprised at how "meh" it was. Fujiyama in West Allis blows this place away, unfortunately.
