This is a well reviewed location but our experience was not up to it's previous high marks. The regulars seem to fair better in the service area. The food wasfair but delivered lighting fast and hot. The service fell off afterwards. At first they were busy but when the customers slowed coming that is when service fell through the floor. The atmosphere seemed great for the regulars but not so much for us. Our first time there.

Stopped in this last week as I had never been there before and thought I would give it a try. The woman behind the counter seemed to be doing all the heavy lifting in the place; she invited me to seat myself which I did. Besides me, there were a total of nine people at 4 tables. There were at least two waitresses in the at the counter who did not see me occasionally raising my hand as they were talking with one another. After 20 minutes (I timed it on my watch after being there about 5), I got up and left. Passing the counter; I mentioned to the overworked woman at the stove that I had waited a considerable time without service. Her flustered look told me that things are a bit disorganized. I really felt for her. The atmosphere was okay, so I'm not going to crater it. The one star for service is fair as the food (without my tasting it looked OK, however there is no allowance for a minus rating for service. I'll give them another chance some time - maybe this review will cause them to reflect on their waitstaff in the meantime.

We have gone to mikes a dozen or so times and always enjoyed the food i love the chocolate chip pancakes and pretty much any scramble. Service as always depends on the server and the day, but, I have personally never had bad service there and really enjoy the open friendly atmosphere.

Love coming here for breakfast so decided to try fish fry yesterday. Don't know if server was new or what but she couldn't get our order correct even after writing it down. There was only us and one other table. Our fish was extremely fishy, the fries tasted stale and old like the oil was bad. Wasn't offered any beverage refills. We were ignored after getting our food. The shrimp was decent and so was the soup but for $40 I'm gonna go elsewhere for lunch and dinner.

It has a nice car port in the back. We were there for breakfast. I had the Lily's wrap, which was a tortilla eggs mushrooms onions and cheese...it was... meh..not alot of flavor.

Picked up a Mexican Breakfast Wrap and a piece of apple pie on my way to work this morning. This will be enough for my breakfast and lunch today and at least breakfast again tomorrow. $15, including tip. That’s not much more than I pay at McDonald’s and I got real food and three times as much. Can’t wait to dig in!
I’m also recommending the haddock. I tried it a couple of weeks ago and it was delicious and perfectly cooked.

This little diner has been around for a long time, has a strong following of regulars and I always love going there! Many of the employees have been there for 15+ years and the breakfast cook just celebrated her 30th anniversary with the restaurant! The food is very basic, no gluten free anything here or flavored creamer but everything is served with a smile and usually comes out super fast! A server at a different popular breakfast place told me Mike's has the best biscuits and gravy in town. Also Mike's has bacon with chocolate chip pancakes and a delicious Mexican breakfast wrap. I frequent many of the breakfast joints in town and this is by far the friendliest! It is one big family here between the customers and the wait staff and you will often find them exchanging stories and catching up with what has been going on in their lives. It is also a popular place for out of towners when they visit Oshkosh and I know the restaurant really looks forward to these special events guests. Another thing I love is that Mike's Place has the best prices in town and truly cares about their patrons. On Saturdays and Sundays it is not unusual for them to have a line to the door so get there early!

The pancakes were not great. Weird aftertaste. Told the lady at checkout (possibly the owner) and she goes sorry about that and that was it. Figured they would comp the pancakes as I only took 1 bite out of the 2 pancakes. Eggs weren’t great either. Honestly, probably won’t ever come back. I went here at the end of June for the first time since moving to the area. My grandparents love this place, I did not. I asked our waitress if the strawberries were fresh and not the frozen mushy stuff. She replied that they are fresh cut. In my head that meant just cut up strawberries for my pancakes. Nope. It was in fact the mushy frozen stuff still cold. Our waitress only came by for the drinks, did order, to give us our food and the bill. Probably won't be coming back.

Very good food and service. Nice people. We went to celebrate our granddaughter’s birthday. Brought a few decorations to display. When it came time to pay the bill the server told us one of their regulars saw that we were celebrating a birthday and anonymously paid the bill for all 8 of us including the tip. My wife and I have been here 8 times over the last 6 months. Regardless of the two star food rate, the food is great. The two stars is for the COFFEE! It's deplorable.

If I had to hazard a guess, they're either using too many grounds per batch, or their machines are just old and putting out horrible taste from the lines. It's not just a fluke either, because at first we would order the coffee every time we went thinking it would get better, but it never did. When we go now, we just get juice. Such a disappointment too, because when we want to go out for breakfast, we want coffee with that breakfast. We were going to try to go out today, 30 APR 2024, but the coffee dissuaded us. So, we went somewhere else.

With that out of the way, the menu is actually fantastic. It's a smaller menu compared to places like Delta and even Apple Valley. The Country benny is awesome, I've gotten it 3 times. Their regular eggs benny is well made as well, the hollandaise is a bit bland, but otherwise a solid choice. The omelets are well made as well, they don't overcook the eggs. My wife usually gets the pancakes, and they're very big. The hashbrowns are well made, I always get a double order because I can't get enough. Biscuits and gravy are sizable. The cooks know what they're doing, out of the 8 times we've been, we've never been disappointed at the actual food. We got the Diablo Wrap, I think it's called, once, and that was also very good. The portion sizes are on par for what you pay; there's definitely value there.

Service is pretty average, nothing special, nothing bad. Nobody has been rude or anything. When it's busy, and it is usually busy, service can be a little slow, but that's expected and in no way hindered our enjoyment. As far as atmosphere, it's a little dated, kinda drab, but we don't care. There are no surprises, you go for breakfast, expecting a good breakfast diner, that's what you'll get. Just don't get the coffee.

Since I was meeting a friend for lunch, I let her choose the place. I was satisfied with the food, nothing outstanding but good. The service was ok. They were very busy and I had arrived and was seated, waiting for my friend. When she arrived a few minutes later it took about 15 minutes for the wait person to come back to our table. She took orders for 4 other customers but didn't stop by us until we stopped her. This was not acceptable for me.

I had the classic burger with fries. My wife had the patty melt with fries. My burger tasted bland like a mc donalds burger. The bun was tastless. My wifes patty melt was very greasy. The fries were tastless. I would suggest a better quality of beef patty and higher quality of bun. Maybe put some salt on the fries. Waitress was however friendly.

I was extremely disappointed cuz I had not been feeling well and I love thier CHICKEN DUMPLING!! So of course, I had a cup. I didn't get any chicken so I thought well maybe the pans at end whatever! So when we got done I asked the guy if I could get quart, thought Chix dumpling soup will make me feel good. Boy the broth was good for like I had maybe 4 dumplings no chicken, and he charged me 8-9 dollars.
