We were there on a beautiful Tuesday at lunch. I was surprised to find that they had an outdoor patio and due to the nice weather our party of 5 dined Al fresco.

The service was excellent and our sandwiches delicious. I was very pleased to find they had some nice beer on tap including Fantasy Factory, a favorite IPA.

We’ve been here several times and the experience is always pleasant!

We all enjoyed our food. I wish the rating system was on halves.. where I could give the food rating a 4.5. Better than like (4), but less than love(5). Haystack onion rings were great, just needed more salt. The Philly steak could use more cheese. Husband loved his shrimp tacos. Daughter thought the BLT was ok. Generous amount of French fries!

The Lemonade was a little weak, would not get that again.

Gorgonzola Sirloin Crostini was definitely one of the worst variations I've had, the bartender whom I will not name put on a weak performance. Especially on a slow night, you never know who will walk-in to the establishment so always put on your A-game. I won't mention who I am, but I'm not your average customer. The only good thing about this visit was the 2 beers I had, the bill was just short of $40 I tipped over 50% despite the weak performance. Had the service been better the tip would have been much more generous despite the terrible version of this meal, perhaps the perch, salmon, or bluegill would have been on par. On my personal weighted scale I'd rate this visit a 1.5 out of 10 which is worse than the abysmal 1 out of 5 on the Google review. That steak was atrocious, bartender was weak and put off a snobbish vibe, I will never recommend this place to anyone either visiting or from Janesville, Milwaukee Grill? Culver's represents Wisconsin better, that's not good.

This is a very popular place. I've visited here with family & friends often or even on my own for lunch. A family birthday party in another part of the restaurant also a good possibility. All rewarding visits. The menu offers a variety of choices with generous, well done offerings. I can recommend this restaurant even the times when you might have a short wait.

My Ruben left a lot to be desired. The wife loved the turkey ciabatta as did our son and our friends. The Peruvian tacos and Philly beef looked to be well prepared compared to the Ruben which was more like a grilled cheese with a little corned beef. Our server was outstanding but, the flies on the patio were out in force.

Great place. Finally found a restaurant that sold pan fried blue gill. My baked cod with potato pancake was really good. 8 people at the table and the only sound I heard was where is the doggy bags. Clean restroom ,plenty of parking plus outside dining. I will return.

I love this restaurant and have never had a bad experience here ( in my 30 or so visits over the last 10 years or so). If you haven't been here before, then i would best describe them as slightly lower than a supper club, but definately higher scale than 90% or more than than all restaurants in janesvile. Now to be clear.. based on your beverage choices and menu choices, your bill can get pricey, but I have never left there thinking that I did not get what I paid for. My favorites.. the appetizer, spicy lemon garlic shrimp served with crostini bread (EVERY time I visit). My second would be their breakfast egg and cheeseburger, but I always request the brioche bun over the chiabata bread that it comes with. Their brosted chicken is very very good.. if you are looking for a combo meal with the chicken then you should choose fish (over the ribs). That is been my ONLY complaint! Their ribs just need to be thicker, juicier, and most definately sauced more.. even if it costs slightly more! My ONLY complaint.

This is a nice place, it is a mix of people but generally when I have visited an older crowd. Music is old and I don’t enjoy it. Let’s get to service, food quality and presentation and overall rating. The service is sometimes great, sometimes hit or miss. Good choices are plentiful but I would bite note not a lot of dietary choices if you need to specialize. Presentation and quality is nice— consistent. Overall rating a 3.7 but had to round to a 4 here. I do visit knowing it is not a chain and someone built this business and it continues to evolve a bit.

Milwaukee Grill is a lovely little hole-in-the-wall bar & grill, hidden just off the interstate in Janesville.

The decor and overall vibe of the place gives a sort of supper club vibe, but much of it feels fairly dated - and very brown.

The food is absolutely fantastic, though. I had their meatloaf with pub gravy, and it was moist and delicious. The mashed potato bed it laid on was also flavorful, but I think next time I'm gonna ask for more gravy - it was truly a standout part of the dish.

My server, who I regretfully forgot the name of, was incredibly attentive and took great care of me. My water was never empty for long!

All in all, I don't know that I'd take a first date here, but I think it'd be perfect for jist about any other occasion!

I ordered the almond crusted trout with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were the best I've ever had, perfectly seasoned and cooked, so they were flavorful but still firm in the center. The almond crust on the trout was amazing. The almonds had a few pieces that gave it a nice, nutty texture with awesome seasonings that complimented the trout. My husband got the half rack of ribs and 2 pieces of chicken. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and the chicken was fried well, not over or under done. Our waitress was great, keeping the drinks filled and empty plates cleared. The ladies' restroom was amazing. There was a single stall with a toilet, then a large stall with a toilet, sink, and paper towel setup, so it was like a separate bathroom. I have been pregnant 3 times, so I've used lots of public restrooms, and this was the nicest, by far.

First time visiting this place but we'll be back. We were just looking to find a restaurant halfway between the Chicago area and friends in WI to meet up for lunch and randomly chose this place. Worked out perfectly. Food was great, prices very reasonable, and our waitress was so nice she happily took a group photo for us. Our group (of 6) decided this will be our place of choice when we want to get together again.

Update 2025 Same group of friends met up here again and we were just as satisfied as we were the first time we visited this restaurant. Food again was delicious. Service excellent. This isn't somewhere we go on the regular but that's only because we aren't from the area, but it is our spot of choice for our annual get togethers.

Other reviewers left the impression that vegan options and gluten free options were available. Not really. I was able to find a salad I could omit cheese from and it actually was really good and the reason I gave it as high of a review as I did. However vegan cheese substitutes would have been much preferred. Having burger w/o a vegan patty option is a horrible plan for any restaurant in 2024 and beyond. Didn't want a salad, wanted something hot to warm me up with. Maybe they'll see this and improve...? Almost not sure that I care.

Waitress was excellent. Ambiance was way up there. Everyone else at my table enjoyed their food.

Had the ribs and chicken (dark meat) with a loaded baked potato and it was Fantastic! On the ribs the sauce was perfect and the meat was tender and fell off the bone when I tried to cut them.
