Enjoyed my food but not the 18% service fee added onto the bill for dinning in. Please note: there were only three of us, so it wasn’t like the fee was for a huge group.

What a wonderful restaurant! We stumbled on it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the scene. We went again tonight. Great food, wonderful staff and the adjoining vintage store, FIO is chock full of incredibly groovy stuff. Check it out!

Definitely the best quality of food in the area.
*update* I have had a lot more food experience and while this is likely the best local restaurant there are higher quality foods available. Potentially not locally. Several very good food selections, the beef tenderloin and the crispy pork belly stand out. The crispy pork belly is the best pig I've had.

Extremely tasty food & drinks. Service was great even tho they were short staffed. Reservations are a good choice. The crispy pork belly with cold ginger noodles & the soft boiled egg was a great appetizer. My husband doesn't even like pork belly & he was impressed. The pasta Rockefeller with scallops and shrimp was wonderfully tasty. The sauce was a little thin, but the flavor was perfection!

I enjoyed dining in although our seats were right by the door and it seemed like a tight fit nevertheless we made the best of it. We enjoyed a flavorful meal that was price right. Our servant seemed very distant and none engaged. We still left him a nice tip just because maybe he’d been having a rough evening. This is our second time patronizing we will return again maybe on week day instead of a weekend. Weekend seemed to chaotic. #lifecaochcw @god_bless_the_real

Art meets good food. I love the concept 😍 The ambiance is nice and definitely one of the formal dining around Eau Claire area. We ordered the pasta (Spicy Shrimp and Bolognese). The spicy shrimp was a little too spicy and this is coming from someone who can eat spicy food. We did love the Brussel sprout appetizer! I think that was our favorite. We'll try their other interesting dishes next time!

Great atmosphere. I loved it. Very calm but hip and all kinds of people sitting down from college students to business folks to people on data (like me). It's not too loud and there is space so you're not crowded on top of each other.
The roasted brussels sprouts were amazing. My wife had the bolognese and it was very good. My spicy shrimp pasta was too spicy to eat unfortunately so either ask then to turn it down a bit or know your spice level. My wife eats spicy food and it was too hot for her even. Our server was not particularly aware that he should be checking on us though. He bright us our food and inductive asked us if we wanted to order anything so it seemed like he just want focused. Maybe a bad night. The other servers looked like they were more with it.
There is also a cute little vintage shop attached that you can walk through that was pretty cute. They had fun things and my wife bought a hat.
Overall it's a great place and I would go there again just knowing a little more about it and I'm sure I would have a great time.

If I could have given this restaraunt 0 stars, I would have.
We had a reservation on Saturday night, and that was the only good thing about our Mona Lisa's experience. It was loud, crowded, and the music was not able to be heard over the loud and obnoxious people yelling both at the bar and a 6 top, a few tables away. I was unimpressed, especially for my first time there!
We were seated, and then the server came to get our drink order. We asked for drinks then put in an order for an appetizer. It took 30 minutes for the appetizer to get to us. The server, Liam, was obviously " in the weeds " and was given too many tables.
The owner, Mrs. Mogenson, was in the room and overseeing a VIP table, a row over, but was too busy to help her server who needed it. She cleared drinks and filled water for them, but could not help fill waters or bus other tables that were waiting for food or their bill.
I decided, after looking at the overpriced, and underwhelmingly boring menu, we were not going to have dinner, and that was the last we saw of Liam. He ignored our table, and did not come back. After waiting 25 minutes for our check, I finally went up to him and asked for our with card on hand, so we could leave.
Another person was also waiting for the check, and finally we got the attention of Liam.
He did apologize, but the damage was done.
We saw Mrs. M on the way out, on the phone, while her 2 hostesses stood by impotently doing nothing....
A word of advice, help servers, and let your hostesses answer the phone, because that's THEIR job.
We DON'T RECOMMEND this place and WON'T be back.
It was RIDICULOUS!
IF I could have given a 0 to this place, I would have.

We had a reservation for 6 for my significant other's birthday, which fit the evening vibe. We walked in, the table was ready, and our server was terrific! He explained the menu to us as this was our first time, told us some of his favorites, and his choices didn’t disappoint! I usually take pictures, but the atmosphere was relaxing, the lighting was moody, and we enjoyed the conversation at the table. I had the Peanut Butter Chicken Pasta. It was so good. It was a bit spicy, and I usually don’t like it, but it was so tasty. Two people had the Alfredo chicken tortellini, so yum; one had the mushroom pasta, and one had the pasta with scallops. I can’t remember the exact menu names; we also had goat cheese balls with marinara as an appetizer. We will be back!

Fantastic date night spot! Highly recommend this place for any couple or group looking for a delicious meal and great time.
Sat at the bar and had amazing customer service.
The bolognese was delicious. Probably the right size for someone to order an app or salad then main entree. Plus that would give you a chance to try even more of their delicious foods.
Side note, don’t pass on the pomme frites. Super flavorful!

Buyer beware!! They charge an 18% service fee that is noted in fine print on the bottom of the drink menu. If they really wanted the consumer to be aware of this they would note it on the top of the food menu, not in fine print. When service is good, and the service was good, I tip 20% and round up to the nearest $5. Not being aware of the service fee I ended up tipping 40%. Total spent for dinner for two was $160 for what was quite honestly was average at best food, very bland. We won't be back. Looking back, it's no wonder half the tables were empty on a Friday night.

The atmosphere is cozy and nice. Servers are always nice and attentive. Food tastes great. Only downfall is no matter what I order here it upsets my stomach without fail. Several of my friends and family members have the same issue. I don’t usually have issues at any other restaurant, perhaps they could look into using less oil or something. Second year in a row visiting this establishment ahead of a concert at UWEC. Last year we had to get the pizza to go and it was good; not memorable. This year planned more time to fully enjoy the experience. When you eat out, you want it to be food and drink you can’t recreate at home. You want it to be something you tell all your friends about. This meal was exactly that. The House Favorite Braised Pork Sugo Pasta was a perfection of flavors and textures that I will have dreams about! Our server, Gigi, was exceptional! Kudos to this restaurant for an exceptional experience!

Mona Lisa’s warm light and atmosphere were just what we needed on a cold January night. The hostess and server were friendly and attentive and the beet salad, artichoke appetizer and burrata excellent. The paella had deep flavor, but all the seafood in it was over cooked. We look forward to coming back, it was hard to choose what to eat because there are so many tempting dishes on the menu.

I on an early evening walk with friends while visiting Eau Claire.I saw the lights from Mona Lisa’s, and commented on how warm and inviting it looked. We stopped at a nearby establishment for a drink before heading home to make dinner, and decided to eat out rather than cook. We headed back to Mona Lisa’s and were delighted that they could seat us. Our server was lovely and attentive, and the food was wonderful. I had the Gnocchi, and although everyone was happy with their order, my dish won the table. I am giving the service only 4 stars, as the cocktails took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, but other than this small hiccup, all was great. Can’t wait to return next time I am in town.

Long time Mona’s fans. Had a relatively disappointing dine in experience a few weeks ago. We thought it was a fluke. Ordered take out tonight and the spicy “scallops” were embarrassingly bad. The “scallops” were the size of a thumb nail. Literally. And chewy. There were very few veggies. The sauce was delicious still. But for the price and expectation Mona’s, we would have preferred Olive Garden.

We stopped in on a night that may have been a little busier around dinner and we sat immediately at the bar as we like to. Ordered some top shelf drinks but noticed right away that this seemed to be a bother for the bartender, no kind words or even an inquiry of how we were, just an interesting look. We asked for drinks which wasn’t much just a good martini, a whiskey sour and later a bourbon. The whiskey sour was horribly made but I drank it and didn’t say anything but she could tell. I then ordered a bourbon which was poured neat and I wasn’t asked for ice which is fine because I like it either way but it’s proper to ask. The rudeness became amusing to us with the looks and body language to other patrons and we made comment of it to each other. It seemed the bartender was more interested in herself and talking to what I assume was the other bartender. We were going to have food but paid our tab and went somewhere else.

The Mona Lisa is a really cute spot. Service was great, food was okay. I ordered the traditional bolognese and it wasn’t bolognese. The sauce tasted like canned chili and it was crunchy for some reason. However, I went with a big group and a lot of the others enjoyed their meals.
I had a really big issue with the way the kitchen staff was treating the wait staff. I could hear the kitchen staff SCREAMING at the servers. Any place that allows their kitchen staff to treat others in such a disrespectful and demeaning way deserves one star in my book. The customer should never have to witness that and staff should never have to be treated so poorly. I don’t care how good your cooks are, it’s not okay.

Frozen tiramisu (no joke, video attached to show how icy the custard was with BRITTLE lady fingers), overpriced burrata with 4 tomato wedges besides it, and "oh you'll want to save your silverware" for a place that claims to be fine dining???
Definitely not worth it. No rugs or table dressings, reused silverware despite vastly different dishes, and simply "meh" food. And I never got the Malbec I ordered with my beef dish!

My daughter didn't like her dish (pasta was burnt), and she asked for a different dish. They accomodated her very graciously and quickly.

Pre dinner drinks: The service at the bar was not much better than if you ordered at McDonald's. The bartender seemed bothered by us (only 4 at the bar) and stood at the other end of the bar the entire time chatting with co-workers. Dinner: Server barely checked back, when we asked for water he pointed at what looked like a wine bottle with tin foil on the top at the center of the table and walked away, then never cleared dirty plates. You can tell that the staff's tip is built into the bill, no effort = same $. Used to LOVE to come to Mona Lisa's for a nice night out with ladies and now off the list of options after last two poor experiences. Too much money for that type of service.

Inside was adorable! My group of friends (all artists) were drawn in by the screen-printing screens in the window. It seemed like a great place for us to get some drinks and food. We waited in a line behind one other group and waited to ask about how long of a wait time there was/ if we can eat at the bar. My friends and I are very patient/ easy going people. We waited a while before even being addressed. The hostess looked right past us and would not acknowledge us until we got her attention. When we did we were met with a very unkind "do you have a reservation?" the tone of her voice was snobby. When we answered with "no" she stated she needed to seat her reservations first (which is fair), but she had such a terrible attitude about it. In the middle of asking if we could order at the bar she walked away- MID SENTENCE. We then waited for her to come back to ask if we could eat at the bar again, and she just snipped "no, not today!" so we left. I understand that it can be overwhelming and busy as someone who worked in food service, however, to be treated in such a way puts a terrible taste in our mouths. We were very kind the entire time, excited about the atmosphere but was turned away by such an unpleasant woman.

This has been one of my favourite reactants, since it opened. Since COVID, it has slipped, and we rarely visit ML anymore. Acoustics have always been bad, but seem to be worse with fewer people. Service is still awesome, but the food and presentation have plunged to a mediocre level. Dishes used to be served with fresh cracked pepper, which I can handle on my ow, so don’t miss, but many dishes were also offered with freshly shredded Parmesan. I asked for some last time, and the wait staff told me that they would need to take my plate back to the kitchen. They are no longer allowed to dispense at the table. I paid $2.50 to add Feta cheese instead, and got almost a Tablespoon of that cheese. My dish seemed to taste more like vegetable oil, than the olive oil that should have been on it.
Cutting cost by cheapening the dishes seems to be a recipe for failure. I know that the owner is a proud person, and great restauranteur. I hope she can cook her way out of this tumble.

All in our party of six enjoyed their meals. My carbonara was somewhat overwrought and busy, but flavorful. The restaurant decor has a lot of hard surfaces so it was quite loud in spite of not being particularly busy. They were accommodating for my elderly mother with hearing issues to put us in a separate room which was much better for our group. Our young waiter was clearly a beginner and could have been more diligently supervised, so service suffered a bit.

Lets just say the owner of Mona Lisa's Restaurant is a work of art herself. I wont be coming back due to poor attitude towards our party just because 1 person that we were expecting was late.
Our party was a party of 6 but 5 of us came together.
We waited about 5 mins to be seated when we already made reservations online. When we got seated, we soon made our orders for drinks and appetizers.
A few moments later the owner starts putting chairs and tables together for other customers coming in and then turns to our table, placed her hands on the empty chair and asked if we're still expecting one more person. I answered yes. She then made a comment saying, " wow they're awfully taking a long time." Storms off and continues to take chairs from other empty tables. Making a fuss about 1 chair not being occupied when there was plenty of chairs to take from left my party and I rather confused. It definitely killed our excitement of dinning here for the first time. We will not be coming back.

As delicious as the food is the service always seems stressed and ill equipped to handle the amount of patrons. I have not had a friendly server here in a while. But the food is good.

I stumble on this place when the restaurant I was going to wasn't open. Most people coming in had reservations, but they were able to seat me at the bar without a reservation. The food was delicious! I had a quinoa and greens salad with grilled chicken and a tasty mocktail. The owner, Lisa, was very friendly; as well as the entire staff. I would definitely go here again the next time I'm in town.

The food was actually good.
The owner is rude. I was put on hold for 10 minutes only to be told I couldn’t place an order till 8.30 pm. There was no courteous and cordial tone. I understand that they’re busy but the rudeness was appalling.
Also an 18% tip was included in my $200 diner. The waitress failed to point this out and so I tipped $40 on top of it. This sort of deceptive billing is thievery.
The owner is beyond rude. Will never eat there again.

Bad overpriced Italian food and the bread is dry! Rude owner that treats people like she's doing you a favor by letting you dine at Mona Lisa's. There are many other restaurants in Eau Claire that are worthy of your money. Stay away just like I will. Ok, I'm ready for your negative response!

Anyone that negatively reviews Mona Lisas does so because they have a problem with their vaccination requirement or they're a cheapskate who doesn't like to tip so they are off put by the mandatory service charge. I FULLY appreciate the requirement to be vaccinated for entrance. When I called to make a reservation I was notified of this and was prepared when we arrived. The house gnocchi, grilled ceasar salad, and pommes frites were all mouth wateringly delicious! The fireplave was roaring and made such a cozy atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!

It’s a shame so many have clamored here to write a one-star review simply for this place’s vaccination policy. Guys, there are dozens of places to eat in Eau Claire that don’t require a vax. It’s not like you’re a persecuted minority, for Gods sake. Be an adult and show some courtesy to a small business doing its best, even if you don’t agree with the policy.
As for the restaurant, it’s the best dining experience in Eau Claire, bar none. Great for special occasions or treating out of town guests.

Called to see if I could make reservation. Woman who answered said she didn’t know how to transfer me on headset, to call right back and she’d have someone else answer to alleviate the headset issue. Same person answered when I called right back, must’ve forgotten about me immediately and when they realized it was me calling again they hung up on me. Not only that but this place requires proof of getting the jab to be enter their establishment. They clearly don’t care if they loose loyal customers. This is not the Mona’s I knew and loved in the past. I will never be back and I would recommend Bijou Bistro to anyone looking for a welcoming dining experience where you as a customer actually matter!

It's been a number of years. I was happy to see after the pandemic, they were still in business.
At the time of my visit, all needed to show proof of being vaccinated from COVID-19 in order to enter. While up and about the restaurant, a mask is required.
The staff was very friendly and attentive.
The meal was a good.
I would go back.

The food here isn’t worth the vaccination. Very overpriced and the taste of the food is blah. One star is even too much.

Here is an idea. When taking a reservation by phone let the party know you require proof of Vax. Not cool when you wait an hour only to find out proof is required upon entry with no heads up. Not what we expected when taking our son out for his 21st birthday...and the kick, our party of 8 was all Vaxd. I guess they didn't need our $300??!!

A friend brought me here when I was on a work trip in Eau Claire. We went back twice in one week! It is one of my favorite places of all times & I have been back to visit just for the food! Always worth my 2 hour trip from the cities! I am so pleased to hear that they are requiring vaccination proof now too. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Food is meh, expensive. Service is not great. The owner...wow, never seen someone so publicly petulant towards customers who leave less than glowing reviews. Can't support an establishment that treats customers the way the owner of Mona Lisa's does.
